Indiana Hoosiers 2023 Football Schedule Preview/Projected Record

foreign [Music] what's up sports fans this is the Lucas Ross Sports channel it's time to continue my 2023 schedule preview and projected records for the 2023 college football season and we continue them with the Indiana Hoosiers here's a schedule last year for this Indiana team the overall record for this team going 4-8 overall in 2022 kinda knew they were not going to be that good last year I think this was an Indiana team that was going to take a step back from a year ago as well this is an Indiana team at a tough you know 2021 and now a rough year last year in 2022 and yes they've had a rough couple years let's look at the schedule from last year you look at who they played in the non-conference they played Idaho Western Kentucky they also played Cincinnati on the road so they did have you know a tough group of five team on that schedule there on the road on September the 24th that's a game they probably could have won and that Illinois game yeah this Indiana team got off to a 3-0 star but after that Cincinnati game and that Nebraska game I think you know it told us that Indiana wasn't that going to be that good of a team you know this from last year they had a tough stretch from September 24th all the way to November 12th they got a good win in the Big Ten though on the road at Michigan State so this team probably could have you know finished three and nine last year and probably winless in the SC or the actually the Big Ten they also you know of course Illinois was their other win in the Big Ten so this team could have probably finished like five and seven or maybe got to a bowl game last year if they at least had one more win in that Big Ten Conference schedule let's now look ahead to 2023. here's a schedule for Indiana heading into 2023 and you look at who they'll play in the non-conference they'll play Indiana State but they'll also play Louisville here in Indianapolis and they'll play Akron as well so it's not too tough of a non-conference schedule Indiana state is a game I wish they played every single year it's not really considered to be a rival game or anything like that but I think it should be a game that can be played every single year you know maybe they can go to Indiana State you know maybe one year and then of course the other year they'll go to Indiana but they'll play Louisville here that's a game that kind of wish it was a rival game here this one will be in Indianapolis should be a really good neutral sight game and a pretty good non-conference game and you also look at who who Indiana will play outside of the Big Ten East we know they're going to be playing every single big ten ace team on this schedule so they'll get out so they'll get Wisconsin out of the Big Ten um West this year that's a you know that's a team that's going to have a new era coming in of course with Luke fickle coming in and then they'll play Illinois here on the road Illinois is a team they almost play every single year but they'll play this one on the road last year they beat him in week number one so they won't play them until late November and then they'll play Purdue as well here on the road on November the 25th so they don't have two top of a draw outside of the Big Ten um you know West at least it's not Iowa at least it's not you know Minnesota perhaps but every year it's really tough to you know project and also predict against the Big Ten West that division is really wide open every single year so they'll play their two you know West games on the road and then of course one game game at home that's Wisconsin let's go game by game now for this Indiana team so let's start this season off against Ohio State here on citrim the second that's a week one game and that's pretty interesting of a kickoff there it's a kickoff against Ohio State a team that you know was really good last year but maybe they're not going to be as good as we think they're going to be this year but you know this is a week one game Indiana gets this one at home that's the good news then they'll play Indiana State after that on September the 9th then they'll play Louisville here on September the 16th that will be at Indianapolis interesting non-conference game there and then they'll play Akron here after that on September 23rd and then they'll open up or actually you know play their second Big Ten game here on the road at Maryland on September the 30th and they'll get a bye week after that game so they'll get their bye week rather early in the season this one will come when they play against Michigan on the road on October the 14th that is going to be a tricky Road game there for Indiana and it's really you know tough to play Michigan and Ohio date on this schedule that way that's what makes the schedule a lot sober for this Indiana team then they'll play the Rutgers after that on October 21st and they'll play on the road at Penn State so you got Michigan and Penn State both on the road this year then Ohio State at home that's really a tough you know stretch there in the month of October then they'll play Wisconsin after that on number November the 4th then they'll play Illinois here on the road on November the 11th then they'll play Michigan State after that on November 18th of course they beat him last year and this one will be at home for them and then they'll play Purdue here on the road to end things out on November the 25th so schedule overall is really tough though for this Indiana team of course they have to play Ohio State Michigan and Penn State all on the schedule and that's what's that's what makes the schedule a lot sober for this Indiana team and he got Louisville out of the non-conference that will be an interesting one there but let's go now to the projection here for this Indiana team and this is the scale I use for my projections if it's a one percent game these are games where Indiana has no chance of winning in um 20 percent a couple touchdowns of underdogs and the orange uh 40 there'll be a heavy Underdog in about a touchdown of an underdog 50 50 games these will stay in the white games where they can go either way 60 these are games in the purple games where they are going to be favored by at least a touchdown and then 80 percent games they'll be favored by at least a couple touchdowns you probably won't see any of those purple or blue games on this schedule just how tough it is and then the the 90 games these are the easy wins for Indiana uh games where they'll be favored by more than three touchdowns we're gonna start with the easy wins here for Indiana like I'd mostly do with my projections I think you got two of those easy wins here on the schedule they got Indiana State and Akron Indiana state is obviously a non-conference game I mean they're definitely an FCS program and everything so I really don't see Indiana having really any problems in both in these game and also Akron they're kind of the same way I don't think I see Indiana really have having any problems in these games it would be a shock if Indiana did lose um you know both of these games maybe they could lose to Indiana State and maybe they win against Akron but it would be a really big shock if they lost both of those games I think Indiana should take care of business in both of these games and I got them you know at least favored by more than three touchdowns and yes I don't have any blue or purple games on this schedule so let's skip ahead so now the underdog games we'll start with the games where they have no chance of winning and that's the one percent and yes surprisingly I do have two games here on the schedule in the red it's Michigan and Penn State both on the road I really don't see Indiana really having a big shot you know at these games now if these games are at home I would probably put them in the orange but I'm gonna at least put them in the red here as of right now because both of these teams were really good last year obviously Michigan went to the Big Ten Championship they went undefeated and then Penn State they were the best finishing team perhaps in the Big Ten East from last year and yes with Michigan and Penn State on the road that makes the schedule a lot tougher and based off of where Indiana was last year I got to put both of these games in the red so I'm gonna go with these and put them in the red here with Michigan and Penn State let's go to the games now where they're going to be about a couple touchdowns of underdogs these are better than the one percent games but not quite enough to get a win I think you got one game on that schedule it's Ohio State here on September the second I think this is a game where Indiana is going to be about a couple touchdowns of underdogs reason why there are a couple touchdowns in this one instead of you know being in the red I think it's because it's a home game for them and you know it's week one we don't really know about the teams just yet I think Indiana probably has a good shot you know maybe it's a maybe knock off Ohio State but I must stick with it and put it in the orange I can't put it as a yellow game based off of where Indiana was last year if Indiana got to a bowl game last year Michigan Penn State and Ohio State uh would definitely Michigan and Penn State would be in the orange but Ohio state would be in the yellow but I'm gonna stick with it and put it in the orange let's go to the games now where they're going to be heavy underdogs in and the 40 category about about a touchdown maybe like a heavy Underdog and I think that's almost the majority of their schedule we've got Maryland Wisconsin Illinois Michigan State and Purdue I think all these games are where Indiana is going to be about a heavy Underdog in you know I think both of the off you know all these games right here they do have a pretty good shot to win them but you know they're not going to be quite as a 50 50 game just yet based off of where they were last year Maryland obviously that's a rogue game but you know I think they have a pretty good shot there Wisconsin that's a game that probably could have as a 50 50 game but based off of where Indiana was last year I'm gonna put this one in the yellow same thing with Illinois Michigan State and Purdue these are games that you know I probably could have put in the 50 50 games but I know they beat Illinois and Michigan State last year but I'm going to still you know make them as an underdog in all three of these games same thing with Purdue I think but these could switch to all 50 50 games by the time we do those predictions those are still to come in the month of May about a couple months away like I said we don't know about these teams and until we get into later part of the off season and also spring practices are about to begin so Indiana I think will be all underdogs in all five of these games and the rest of the game's here for them Louisville and Rutgers I think these are both 50 50 games Louisville obviously that's an Indiana Indianapolis that's a neutral sight game so that's a hard one to project against I I got to put this one in the white uh the Rutgers though obviously Rutgers weren't that good last year either um you know they both you know both of these teams finished four and eight so it will be a dog fight and that matchup on October the 21st but but these games I'd see them being 50 50 games and you look at the rest of the schedule here it's obviously tough but let's get out and get to the projection here for this Indiana team so if you look at the schedule you look at the games that they're favored in and also the games that they are underdogs and also if you count the 50 50 games this is not my official prediction this is simply a projection based on this schedule you get an overall projected record at four and eight for this Indiana team so same record in the regular season last year at four and eight overall in 2023 but rise up right now this is a projection I think I could see this Indiana team going five and seven perhaps maybe you know three and nine perhaps as well but you know I think best case scenario would probably be five and seven uh worst case would be probably three and nine it it could be possible to go two and ten you never know they could probably go two and ten and also probably go six and six but I think this is how it comes out to be I think Indiana is got an overall projected record at four and eight so far for 2023 let me guys know what you think think about this Indiana team down in the comments below what do
