frustrated and I know y'all are frustrated as well and I think what we're going to do is this this is the plan I have in place and I hope it doesn't have to happen every single week of the season I'm assuming it won't but I also assume that would have to do after week one of the Season we are going to have two episodes about this game alone the first one is going to be a complete immediate visceral and instant overreaction to what we saw and then we'll have another one that I'll record later tonight and recording this on Sunday afternoon I just finished watching the game for the second time we're gonna watch it one more time uh and then tonight uh I will interview Aaron Murray and he was at the game obviously he's a color uh play-by-play guy and get his thoughts and and and what he saw up close and personal in Williams Bryce because it wasn't good it wasn't good and listen I think there's positive things that you're going to be able to find from this game but right now I'm pissed I think a lot of fans are pissed and I like to be as optimistic and positive as possible in almost everything that I do especially when we talk about college football and especially on this show but I'm pissed and so this listen we will have a more calm and logical and measured response 24 hours after the game but right now I got some things to say and I'm I and y'all did too y'all have some stuff on social media I told you I I posted the Tweet earlier about how like let me know your biggest overreaction and all that kind of stuff and I'm not the only one that's pissed and you watched that game yesterday and I don't even know where to begin I don't even know where to begin like I'm not gonna sit here and talk about the offensive line like I think I saw everyone on social media do for a lot of yesterday because I don't think it was the offensive line I don't think the offensive line was the top three problem from yesterday that's how bad it was that's how bad it was and there again there are some positive things to take away from this you also look at an ODU team that has done this before to other teams I think they played Four power four opponents in in the last like three or four years I talked about it like like four of those games they won one of them against Virginia Tech um two of the other three I think were decided by four points or less or three points or less but what happened yesterday was unacceptable how do you start a season like that in a year where I I know that we talk about the hot seat thing and how it's it's like way more for show but you know he also heard that in the offseason and you would expect at the very least not even if it's just like to to cool the hot seed or to like prove a point but you know that Shane Beamer wanted to come out there and be like listen we're replacing the best quarterback we've had in the program in over 30 years we've got another great guy I love this team I love what we're doing here's the decisions that I've made with our with our coordinators that we we kept despite here and you know a lot of scrutiny especially about you know um on the defens side of the ball um BR D login back he he caught a lot of scrutiny as well last year but like you I know we lost all this in receiver blah blah blah blah blah all that stuff you know he had to hear some of it because he's too Petty in his press conference to not address it in the first place and I love that about Beamer but how do you show up like this and it's not just him but he's the head coach that does reflect on him and when I sit here and look at who like who who deserves to catch heat first and I don't know if it's like I'm not trying to say we need to point a finger and blame anyone needs to like this isn't like the overall performance jday did not fall on one person but I am going to start with the person that it started with the most and that was Lenor sers and yesterday he played like in comparison to the rest of the league the other 16 starting quarterbacks I don't care how this sounds you can get mad about it all you want in the comments I I don't I don't care the whole theme of this show is an instant of reaction Lenor sers was the worst quarterback in the yesterday I don't think he will be through a whole season think he's got a ton of upside I think he's got a lot of Pinal I think he played maybe the worst game that he has probably played in a long time yesterday it might have been the worst game he's played in his life because because if you think about like being a four-star recruit and how great he's been I'm sure and how much he dominated in high school and and he's a winner and he won yesterday but I bet if you asked him he would not have loved that performance it felt very much like a I went one for five I use a baseball analy that's what I played college but it's like if you we one for five with three or four strikeouts and and you reached base twice because you had a pass ball in one of the strikeouts it is it was real bad and I wanted to start with D loggin I thought the offensive play calling was so bad I thought it was so bad and it just it's everything about the game itself was disjointed from the lightning Delay from even like you know just different things that you did Juju McDow gets loose on the left hand side of the on the left side of the field gets gets over to the boundary gets tackled by his own quarterback it felt like there were a lot of gable moments of like what you guys have told me is somebody that's only covered this for two months this is what it's like being a South Carolina fan and again I think there's a lot of positive still for the rest of the season but what happened yesterday was awful it was awful you had a four-point win against a group of five team Old Dominion and you won by four while getting two fumbles inside of their own 10 yard line hats off to being able to force the fumbles that defensive line was phenomenal all day Canard is a absolute problem Hemingway looked good like me Sanders Huntley they like everything looked good I just don't understand how you come out like that and it was it's one of those things where it's like dude they come out and ODU has the ball first and the very first play of the game you see SN come out here and and and flying across the field just like I kept saying all like all offseason you know guy that runs a over 20 clock at over 21 miles an hour like you're G to come out in the 425 you come out in the 425 and it's like this is this is what I think they look both like most comfortable you you have two down linemen even though you're in the 425 you get across the front of that D line you got two guys off the edge standing up and we are going to get after that quarterback's ass all day all day and they did and they did but you back them up you get a turnover three plays in and you think you score on the first play and I mean will Williams Bryce erupts and I was like I was watching this and I I'm sitting thinking like this is going to all effing day what a start you could not have asked for a better start and then that's when the disjointed weird blank started happening it was you know the calls over return he's down to the one then you can't punch it in on the second play on a QB sneak no reason you can't get a push on a QB sneak from the one yard line with a 63 240lb quarterback and that offensive line couldn't do it barely get it on third down so you score you're up 70 two plays two plays and 30 seconds 72 yard bump I just they just did not do things at any point yesterday where it felt like on offense especially but even as a whole as a team it's just dumb mistakes repeatedly getting in your own way repeatedly like one step forward two step back all day and it started up front with Lenor sers and I wanted to bring I wanted to blame D Loggins because there's a part of me that watched that yesterday and it was like I've seen enough I don't care this should not ever be happening and you should have had this kid ready to play put in put in Shawn Elliott right now let him call plays and and and let's go like because I that what happened yesterday I was so pissed watching the first half of it but then you go back and rewatch the first quarter and it's like what like the very first play you run an RPO and you put Sanders out in the flat and you and you get him in space you get sellers in space and you give him an easy dump off pass to get his his confidence up get a chunk play and what does he do doesn't throw in the ball like you know that had to be the play call you know they went through it in walkthroughs you know they went through it all off like you had to know that with a new starting quarterback the first play was going to be something like that swing pass dig route not dig route or like a screen p screen pass the receiver or swing pass to the the running back a small easy high percentage throw get some confidence let's get this thing going and on the very first play sers doesn't get the ball out of his hands how bad was he in the first half he was really bad he was really bad and again I bet if you ask Lenor sers he say he would say himself this was not this is one of the worst games he's played I mean this was this is what you look like on third down okay this is what you look like on third down in the first half these are the numbers from luren sellers on third down there were seven total third Downs he faced he got one first down right you had twice where and by the way let's be very clear here the one first down you got the one first down you got was on Third and two at the end of the half and he got a four-yard gain and clock and the clock expired and ran out and going into halftime that's the one first down you got on the other six year over he had outside of that he had one play for positive yardage on third down for and it was third it was a three yard run on third and four he was 0 for three for zero yards passing he got sacked twice this all in the first half he ended ended the first half with negative n yards total offense on third Downs now here's the thing Lenor sers is the leader of this offense so it does fall on him but my God can we get this kid some help where's the separation from any of the receivers where's the creativity the play calling like what are we doing like what like from from start to finish and I tell you what I know Shane Bamber knows a lot more about about special teams than I do but why why on God's green earth especially on the depth chart when you put Nick Harbor is going to be the other kicker Turner with jji McDow why are you only putting one person back there I don't know if Harbor did something if it was a disciplinary thing I don't think it was I'm not going to speculate on that because I haven't heard anything and I don't I don't I doubt that's what it would have been but outside of maybe some weird well we want to have an extra guy being able to block so we have one guy deep why would you not at least just have have another dude back there and and then say hey like I'm gonna force you to kick it away from him why would you put one person back let him run it's like 53 and a half yards on like the length of the width of a field why are you why do you have one guy back there of if I'm the kicker I'm just kicking it to like the 5 yard line over in the corner and making Juju run all the way over there and like what are we doing like what are we doing it just it felt like it was it felt like it was the first scrimmage not the first game but the first scrimmage of fall Camp so many mistakes so many mistakes and and I just none of it especially in the first half that's just not how you can come out there you go and get a lead but outside of the first 51 seconds of the game it was a disaster it was a disaster let's do a stupid ad read and keep this thing going because I I listen probably shouldn't say that I don't want to get in trouble with the sponsors because we have lovely sponsors but I'm just so insens right now with anger it's like I just don't get it I I just don't understand how that is the product that that was put on the field yesterday after all this off seon so before we get back into it and I got more stuff to say about Sellers and again I got a lot of more say lot I want to talk about just the the frustration I was having on the rewatch and I brought the third down conversions because I thought it was a very big issue in this game because you were only five of 18 on third Downs you're only five of 18 three of those came in the first half and and again one of them was on Third and two to end the half it's a nothing down you know whatever one was third and goal from the one that you punched in for a touchdown the very first drive of the game with with with Sanders the other one was a third and one where rocket got a one- yard run so the three conversions you did get in the first quarter first half you had three third Downs two of them were third and one or one was third and goal but third and one yard left a gain and the other one was third and two and even then you got a total of six yards not a ton of push up front from that offensive line which was very frustrating but I don't I don't blame them for everything else at one point you had a third and three and you only got two yards I told you about the sellers when he had third and four and he got three yards guys you had you had situations yesterday where in in seven third Downs that sellers was responsible for and you know what I I'll do this I'll do I'll do six cuz I'm not even going to include the third and two that was the end of the first half but in six of those third Downs where he either they call a play call to like a pass I mean or the one that he had a run in five of the six it was third and eight or more and we talked about that beforeand it's like you cannot get into these especially with a first game starting quarterback you cannot be in third and eight or more routinely and and that's that happened for a lot of reasons but it was like again this is third and four you only get three yards third and three and the other one with rocket sand you only get two yards what do we like it felt like a lack of creativity and maybe maybe it's because Shane Beamer and D Lin didn't want to put anything on tape for Kentucky maybe but I tell you what for 60 minutes at some point you gotta look at this like maybe we do need to put some some blank on tape like maybe we do need to put something on tape like like you know again I'm not trying to be a huge Debbie Downer here but this game was gift was gifted to South Carolina when you look at it I mean they made a ton of like mistakes but like dude you still got two times they fumbled the ball inside of their own 10 yard line and you recovered like that does not that's not gonna happen every week it's not gonna happen every week we're the receivers like here's another one and this might be the best example out of all of them about about what it feels like watching this game because and I I've only been covering this team specifically for two for two months and I've talked to a lot of you about games and all that kind of stuff in the past and all that and you guys have it's it's it's the the meme of where like somebody's got like a noose around their neck and it's like oh yeah first time like like that that's how you guys have approached this when I'm like what is this about what is this about but it was very frustrating yesterday and it and and like again you talk about the down and distance on third down you're behind the chains a bunch the self-inflicted wounds Kai Kroger completes another pass and touchdown on special teams and it's called back so you have a touchdown taken off the board that's incredibly incredibly frustrating because again it's a massive momentum swing how about on the other side when you when you go in trying to block a punt and I understand this is going to happen especially in Beamer ball when you're trying to get into like you know like the back field and and block punts and and and switch up uh change field position all that kind of stuff but you run into the kicker and on third down they get a first s dumb crap like that I'll tell you one that that made the most like maybe the most frustrating that feel like it was the most fitting of like the one step forward two step back thing was early in the first quarter you got a quarterback who is really struggling with his confidence right he looked so uncomfortable trying to make decisions his decision- making lacked lacked any sort of confidence the fourth and one right I told you about the on on third and four when he got a three yard run they had to go for it early on and they run a they run rocket canders he gets a one yard gain the fourth and one at the mesh point in like RPO and Zone Reeds even then he felt like like he didn't know what to do like like it felt like he was doing too much and he did not slow the game down enough in his head and again part of that does rest on Dow loggin though because even with the first design play of the entire game that he called at some point you got to see like your quarterback is struggling and you gotta you got to change it up I'm glad they didn't take him out right like like I think that is a positive take away from this because I think it would have made sense and I saw people say this from from um uh I saw people say this like you know maybe should bring in Robbie Ashford maybe heard somebody bring in Dodie I think that part was a joke but the thing with with with that is I think that you would have had long-term damage to his confidence if you did take him out so I'm glad they didn't do that but here's a play that made that that was the epitome of the on step forward two-step back thing early in the first half Lenor sellers drops back throws a bomb 66 yards in the air release that ball from his own eight yard line hits Jared Brown right in the hands I mean a dime a dime hits him right in the hands he drops it and I'm sitting there thinking I'm like and while this is happening real time I'm looking at this I'm like see that kind of crap is what you have where what is get I'm getting Tex Galore right now of this um but I right when that happens in real time I'm sitting here thinking to myself okay here's the deal here's the deal if you already have a struggling quarterback that's lacking confidence that kind of crap is what turns it around not only is it something huge for his confidence because now you are up 17 to seven in this situation right you also have the the the stat sheet is padded because you've got a basically like a 85 yard touchdown from where they were on the field and now you got a quarterback that's like yeah you know I might have missed a couple early throws like I rolled out to my right I somehow Miss Harbor I think it was like on an overthrow um you know I I tucked the ball a couple times I probably should have just like thrown out of bounds or or hit somebody in the flats like all those things like like struggled early with my confidence but look look what I can do like like that's the kind of player I am and so I'm sitting thinking in my head I'm like you got to make catches like that to to to build confidence and and that's six like that's six and even if he would have caught it thing guys then you find out you lined up wrong I just it's so many things it's so many things the five of 18 on third down sellers took three sacks on third Downs right um they had four sacks all day that you gave up he three of them came on on third down a couple of them were like you know you're at the I believe it was like the 16 yard line you take an eight- yard sack and he still made the field goal but it's like now you're checking about a 31 yard field goal versus a 40 yard field goal like there's just situations like that you cannot get into or like I think at one point it was third and eight or something like that from like Midfield you get five or six yards you might be able to either one punt them deep or go for it right but instead of taking an eight- yard sack and now you're you're moving back now you definitely have to punt Josiah Thompson late in the fourth quarter you got a fourth and three you got a rookie or you got a true freshman starting at left tackle and this is g to happen but pre- snap penalty moving back five yards I brought up the ruffing the punter I brought like the harbard thing on on on the kick return there were just so many mental mistakes and again like I I'm thrilled that the defense did exactly what you need them to do again tons of positives tons of positives on the defense sure you had some broken plays you only gave up six six plays of 10 yards or more so it's like you you limited them but penalties and key moments right let me look up the total penalties real quick penalties and key moments I mean guys this isn't you're not going to be gifted games like this like where you have I mean you had the ball had the ball for 35 minutes it didn't feel like that at all Lenoris 10 for 23 for 114 yards you did run the ball but you only averaged three yards per Rush didn't have a ton of penalties but they were in key moments I just you were held under 300 yards of offense I just you have to be happy that you came away with the win and I don't even know if you turn on the tape after this man because there are like like it's just it it was such an ugly win that it it almost felt like a loss and I had a lot of people that were telling me that um so here's here's the last all right and again we're gonna do the right thing we're gonna we're gonna focus on some positives later on in the show in in the second show we will talk with Aaron Murray and Aaron Murray was there it's funny man because Aaron Aaron and I had a conversation before his trip to Columbia or while he was on his trip to Columbia and and uh he was like yeah I got a two and a half hour drive from Atlanta to there I was like first off if you make it to from Atlanta to Columbia two and a half hours I'm very concerned about how fast you're going but we're sitting there talking he's like you know I'm assuming it's gonna be like a little bit of a blowout like in the second half like you know um we have some talking points just like you know like like anything I need to know about blah BL blah blah and so him and I were just catching up on that and just talking about you know South Carolina in general and all these like really fun cool talking points that I thought would be interesting that you know like he did his research he told me a bunch of stuff but it ends up being you know not that and it should have been by all means yesterday besides the rain should have been a great day in Williams Bryce and again we will talk about the positives and the defense did step up and you did Force four turnovers and and you got to love the fact they barely give up over 300 yards all that kind of stuff but I expected more from this team in game one I just flat out I expected more from this team in game one now we're going to close with this I asked you guys what your overreactions were as well as your logical reactions which we will talk about as well but I asked you what your overreactions were this is what I got okay this is what you guys sent me and you know sometimes it's cathartic and therapeutic to get this kind of stuff out so here is what you guys had to say and I'm glad we can get this all off our chest and then what we're going to do we'll put it in a box and throw it out the sea and see you later I don't think that's the right saying but you know what I mean and we won't be as negative moving forward but here's what I got I said about to record the first of two reaction pods from the south Carina OD game tell me your biggest overreaction and logical reaction in the comments first up we have sec Mike Mike Bratton said I'm not convinced South Carolina will win a league game if they play like this all season okay now Gamecock Zack I thought this was one of the best comments that was made was we have an Iowa offense with a Georgia defense I think he might be right and he also Lov the fact that he summed it up in one sentence like that I mean yeah that is how that looked um Jor says sell sellers wasn't great I'm glad they stuck with them but I mean he cannot play like this if if you expect to win multiple games in a row right like like it just it's just not going this the ceiling will be so much closer to the floor than than even it was a year ago if this is how he plays the whole year which I don't think he will not Chris brazwell says South Carolina will in fact lose to Vanderbilt if they play him this year they do play him this year and Vander Vanderbilt came out with a big win on their first game dogfather says my biggest reaction that South Carolina won't win a single SEC game I mean that's the second person that said I don't think it's tried and then we have Rex I'm not gonna say his last name but that's really good Dale Denton 1974 says Beamer should have been fired before the game ended now I don't think about I don't think that I'm not going to start off after one game saying the chain Beamer should be fired when you won the game but there were a lot of people especially on social media which is where you expect it to come from that that did not have a lot of friendly things to say about about Shane be wrapped to the first game so guys that's it that's all I got that's all I got right now and I and I want to apologize again I know sellers I we're kind of harsh about some of the things that happened there and and all that it's got to be better you got to be better just flat out you got to be better and if they play like this in Kentucky they're going to lose if they play like this against LSU Miss B&M maybe not A&M maou Clemson maybe not Clemson you're going to lose gotta figure it out gotta figure it out I'm pissed I had to go to a damn like baby shower thing yesterday that I agree was my fault I agreed to go because I just thought in my mind we'll go there at halftime it'll be fine game will be in hand we can sit there make pleasantries say nice things all that kind of stuff oh it's a girl whatever instead we get there and I have to look like a a lunatic watching the second half of South Carolina Old Dominion in front of a bunch of strangers in my in my girlfriend's friend so not thrilled about that but like I said we will get to some of the positives later and I will tell you one positive thing that if you are as down as I am even watching that here's one positive right here Clemson got their ass beat Clemson's real bad so there's that now it's a long season we got a long way to go and and the other positive I'll tell you right now you're one and0 a win is a win is a win is a effing win so there you go all right I love y'all we'll talk to you'all later um I'll probably even do my hair in that one or wear a hat or something I don't know but sadness is out we're going to have a logical reaction later make sure you stay tuned for that I hope all of you had a fantastic Sunday we
