Large cloud packages then quickly form, from which storms with heavy rain arise, most violently in the orange areas over the mountains and later in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. We are talking about 60 to 100 liters of rain per square meter in a few hours. The heavy rain will cause flash floods and flooding locally. In the south and center, the heavy rain is regionally accompanied by hail, thunderstorms and squalls. So get the kids out of the pool and head in when the sky turns dark gray.
