1st & 10: Jets vs. 49ers 'Monday Night Football' Preview

[Music] hello and welcome to the 49ers first and 10 podcast presented by Cisco 10 minutes of the most upto-date 49ers news first thing in the morning I'm your host Brian McDonald and joining me is team reporter Lindsay polarz Lindsay Happy game day how excited are you to open up the season at home at Le Stadium Happy game day to you Bri and to the faithful we made it it is officially kickoff for the 2024 season I could not be more excited I think it's wild that the 49ers have six Prime Time games really no better way to bring in this 2024 campaign I think there's a lot of close connections in this game that just add more layers to it so really just such an exciting way to start the year um and I I anticipate that the faithful are going to show up big the way they always do I'm expecting a really electric atmosphere out there today amazing the 49ers had a busy weekend ahead of tonight's game first with their final practice of the week on Saturday Lindsay what were the important takeaways from that practice and what was Head Coach K Shanahan's game status report for tonight's game let's start with the status report we have defensive lineman gor gross MOS and linebacker D winners they were rolled out on Saturday and then we've got three question marks for the 49ers headed into tonight safety talanoa huanga is doubtful as we all know he is working back from an ACL injury he suffered in week 11 of last season and then we have two questionable players running back Christian mcaffry is dealing with a CAF and achilles and then offensive lineman Aaron Banks who broke his pinky uh both those players questionable uh so we will find out if they're going to suit up take the field same time as everyone else 90 minutes before kick uh so stay tuned before that um one thing I will say is that Christian mcaffrey and Aon Banks both were limited participants all week so I think that generally tends to lean towards a positive outcome for tonight that they'll suit up but obviously we won't know for sure um until that injury that final inactives report comes out um and then just as far as practice this was the very first week that that everyone was back together um that's something that head coach Kyle Shanahan talked about Trent Williams Brandon IOU completed their first week of practice since getting their contract situation settled obviously a positive um you know Shanahan went on to comment and say that Trent Williams looks incredibly in shape having him back in practice is more just getting him comfortable with the rest of the offensive line um and getting everybody ready for game day so it looks like the 49ers are in good shape honestly I don't really expect Trent Williams or Brandon iuk to skip a beat tonight all right thanks Lindsay we'll keep an eye out for that inactives list before kickoff tonight but before we talk game day there was an awesome celebration happening at Levi Stadium yesterday to honor the newest member of the 49ers Hall of Fame Frank Gore and Lindsay you were there take us into the night what was it like it was a very special celebration for a very special player in Frank Gore he is the 31st player to be inducted into the 49ers Hall of Fame he put on that red jacket for the very first time and I think my favorite part of the night was the unveiling of the Frank Gore statue that will be placed in the 49ers Museum in the 49ers Hall of Fame with the rest of the members of that Hall of Fame group um and just so many emotional heartwarming speeches uh his former teammate Alex Smith was the MC for the night then we had Moran Norris speak uh Patrick Willis was in attendance Bryant Young was in attendance um just a ton of 49er greats were there a ton of alumni I'm not naming them all but uh there was a great great alumni picture that took place at the end of the night and the stage was just filled with names that everyone will recognize over the course of 49ers history um you know I think the one of my favorite parts of Frank gor speech was him his great appreciation that he has for the York and debaro family um just a great tribute to the organization he got emotional it was it was really cool to watch um and it's you know it's his rightful place in 49ers history uh Frank Gore finished as the franchise rushing yards leader he had 16,000 career rushing yards that's third most in the NFL um so just a huge congratulations to Frank Gore um and you know everyone was kind of just like looking ahead and saying you know this is step one and you know everyone's really excited to see um how his campaign to Canton all shakes out but you know certainly everyone in attendance there believes that's that's the next step for Frank Gore how cool congratulations to 49ers Legend Frank Gore the party for him does not stop there for tonight's halftime show the team is celebrating his induction into the 49ers Hall of Fame so if you can't be there at Levi Stadium to watch it happen in person you can tune into to the 49ers YouTube channel will be live streaming the entire halftime show so you don't miss a thing make sure to check that out and now that we're talking about game day I do have a quick reminder for the faithful who will be at Levi Stadium tonight and that's to get to the stadium early the team is expecting a packed out crowd tonight and there's a traffic and parking advisory around Levi Stadium today because of that so for my expert game day fans make sure you allow some extra time for travel car car pool or take public transportation and make sure you're in your seat before kickoff for a smooth and successful Monday Night Football experience I just wanted to get that word out before it really gets busy tonight but Lindsay let's get into this matchup a little bit Jets ners Monday Night Football do you have any bold predictions for tonight's game you know I think we've talked so much over the course of the off season pre-season like really starting in free agency that the 49ers have invested a lot in revamping that defensive line and I think we're going to see the fruits of that labor tonight so I'm going to go and say we're gonna have bare minimum three sacks um and I think at least one each for Nick Bosa and Leonard Floyd um you know I think those are two of the players that everybody's excited to see play together bookending that defensive line um and yeah they're certainly going to have their work cut out for them because Aaron Rogers is incredibly t talented quarterback but I think I think we're going to see big things from that dline I love it I love to see it you know I was thinking of the offensive side of the ball and having everyone there reunited before Monday Night Football I think it's going to be electric there so I'm thinking you know some fiery offense a strong defense we've got a good match up tonight Lindsay I am so excited we're going to be the only game on so everyone please make sure to tune in to your
