the Cleveland Guardians uh so we're back with another episode of the weekly rewind and this time I'm joined by uh Dodgers beat writers stepen Webb and Alyssa Maldonado uh thank you guys for joining happy to be here exactly thanks for having me so like as I mentioned as we as we came in another good uh good series for the Dodgers they go ahead and you know take care of a a first place team the Cleveland Guardians who are playing you know good baseball one of the top you know teams in baseball you know they go in and they win two out of three they they end up dropping the first game but coming back and winning games two and three um I thought you know Dodgers have been playing good baseball coming up into this you know into this series and I thought it was another good series for the Dodgers they they went out there and showed you know they're right now I think there's a team to beat and you know they're they're showing that things are coming along you know guys came back from injuries pieces are getting put together and I think think they're playing really good baseball at at a good time um Steve what did you think of uh this series uh against the Guardians yeah I think uh certainly um it's a more of the same we're getting from the Dodgers now because really it's been a good three weeks that they've sort of started B they really feel like this is the team that we were hoping for all year long that we didn't get right um I feel like finally once once Mony came back once bets came back I feel like things were starting to you know certainly on the offensive side come together uh we're still not at full strength of pitching but uh you know you feel like we're really starting to to to square up a lot of good balls and and you know they didn't get get a ton of offense this weekend but I mean the pitching was really good this weekend I mean the Guardians are not a SL team when it comes to their offensive production and you know even the game they lost they got uh a very good pitching performance on a land in Mack so I really liked what I saw pitching wise and the bullpen was great um it you know other other than you know that a couple of home runs in that first game it it was a really solid performance all the way around yeah and that first game too was I mean we saw a great start from lak you know he he just gives up that you know he gives that home run um but you know the offense didn't kind of show up that game but I mean you know it was definitely a winable game he kept them he kept them in in that game you know they could have they could have won that game as well and could a sweep yeah this is a good a good Cleveland team Alissa what did you see from from this weekend series uh yeah like you're talking about the loss um I think a big thing just to learn from as just hitting in situation in situations where we score I know they had a high hit game I believe that game but other than that like when Landon KN comes in and he's pitching great like the offense just has to step up and help him out and like we talked about you're not going to win every game don't panic I think as Dodger fans we like to freak out when the most happens especially when we lose a player which we've been experiencing a lot this year but I think in the end like I think the Dodgers just have it down and like even when anybody comes into town you know the Dodgers are the team to beat everyone has this mentality of it's not like a winning mentality I would say compared to the Dodgers I would say everyone just wants to be the Dodgers and in the end the Dodgers are just facing themselves so I'm not too concerned I saw a lot of good hitting especially after losses especially after a loss like Friday and then you come in and you put up numbers on Saturday and then today you go four and0 so yeah I the pitching just looks great like like you said we have a lot of inj and we're not even stacked yet we don't even have everyone back yet we're probably going to see yamama Moda this week I know there's some updates on glass now so that's kind of going to be interesting to see um but yeah I think after all going taking two out of the three is pretty impressive and just to move on forward and just keep winning games and just learning from the losses rather than just kind of like as fans just freaking out when things get tough yeah like said I was at the game on Friday I I just got in there walking in you know um you know news series feeling good right and then the news comes out of of Gavin Stone you know going on the iil and also that day um friend of the carada Jessica Mendoza she's covering the the team I saw her I saw her upstairs too and she's like how you feeling and I'm like I was feeling pretty good like coming to the stadium but then you know getting that news you know it it sucks because you know Gavin Stone has been having such a good season and then um Andrew Freedman spoke as well and you know just you know seen fredman out there talking he's talking about all the injuries that are going on and it continue to happen and and yes Dodgers have had a ton of injuries but this is kind of a League wide thing right there's a lot of pitchers that are going down but it just it does seem like the Dodgers have you know a plethora of a lot more players that are going down right and I would I would uh I know you got uh that interview with fredman that pregame uh and that's up on our website now doe.com and I encourage everybody to check it out uh Freeman had a lot of interesting things to say about you know where where maybe he has uh as the front office have they have some collective culpability for for you know this Spate of injuries that you know because it it really you say oh first is Tony gonin and then it's then it's Dustin may and then and then it's em and it's just you know one hit after either it's just been a rough 12 months as far as the pitching injuries go for the Dodgers so it I I I think I feel like fredman was taking it sufficiently seriously that he thought you know maybe there's something we can look at it didn't feel like he was blowing smoke in that interview I feel like he kind of uh was really sort of taking accountability for what maybe the front office is doing as far as development as far as uh the way they are you know scheduling pictures bringing them up the miners handling their days off um so I I I encourage anybody who hasn't seen that Freedman interview to go to dodgers.com and check it out it's it's there for everybody to look at and it's it's a good interview and it's I think gives you a good picture of what the front office is thinking about all these injuries that have come up lately and now the question is what are we going to do about all this uh and uh uh you know it's it's it's like a a replay of 2023 we're all saying okay which can we get three pitchers that will throw uh decent innings in in the postseason we'll see um hopefully I mean if best case scenario is what you get a healthy glaso you get a healthy Yamamoto uh you maybe get an improved buer uh a slightly roove Kershaw with that gets that toe filled out get Gavin Stone back and somehow Cobble together something from from that uh mix you know maybe get three Innings from a guy and three Innings from another guy and and then and then you know call it a day or we'll we'll see how they're gonna have to get creative because these guys are not going to be built up to to go six seven Innings um other than uh you know I don't know we we we'll have to see you know I feel like uh the only pitcher that I would cross off the list right now is Bobby Miller I just don't think it's happening for him this year um and you know the the start down in Anaheim kind of uh sealed his fate as far as I was concerned I don't know if you guys have the same opinion but but I I think we gotta say we're done with Bobby Miller for this year you know give him a year off uh give him the offseason see what he comes with in spring training but but I I wouldn't want to put Bobby Miller on a a field in October no uh go ahead no I think I've been a person with Miller I have tried to defend him countless times I wanted him to work out this year and it's just you go through a slump and I think that's what they have to like kind of anticipate with him I wouldn't want him right now with the way pitching is looking and like players coming back and stepping up after being gone for so long you just have to give credit where credits do and when you look at the postseason he's not in my top he's not in my rotation at all like I just don't see it so yeah I agree with you on that one yeah well I I think they should give him another start I don't think that start would change my mind much but I think just given where they are as far as where khaw is where stone is um you know the uh the uh sort of rough last two outings for riski um it feels like Bobby Miller is is you know somebody you could slot in and just you know roll the dice and see what he th throw throws at at the team uh next time but I I'd give him one or two more starts before everybody's back um because there's really not a lot of um a lot of other options at this point if you're G to go still go with a fiveman rotation um yeah so yeah I can see him pitching still in the regular season let him uh you know pitch down in Miami maybe uh I think that would be his next start would be in Miami or would it be still here would it be yeah probably yeah with Miller they said they said he still get he'll still get another start yeah he's still gonna get another start I mean and with Miller too I mean his previous two starts were okay prior to this so it kind of looked like he was trending in in the right direction and then you know he has that bad outing in Anaheim and it just kind of it just seemed we were discussing this earlier in the week it just seems whenever he has Runners on he has a really hard time with those Runners on right and that's you know he gave up that think that that when he gave it that home run in Anaheim and then right after that he goes right back and he strikes out the side you know when he didn't have anybody on on on base anymore so it seemed like it changed you know changed the game for him after that you know he gives up those home run RS he didn't pitch that badly I mean you know other than being terrible at the first in he kind of you know got it through and and I think he did five that day so I mean you know Roberts had mentioned too you know this for him and for Walker beer this was kind of a you know a Runway audition for them to see what they got you know to see if they're going to be able to be used in in in October and you know with Bobby like with Bobby m like you said I don't I think you know unless you know he goes out there and something drastically Chang when he gets another start maybe another start and continues to Trend positively I mean I don't really see him getting a spot you know on the other hand Walker beer I mean he you know he hasn't been the Walker beer right the 2018 Walker buer but he himself says hey I'm I'm feeling like my normal self like how I used to feel on the mound he's getting towards us and you know he he's been pitching better A lot better than you know when he first came back so he is he is taking those you know those steps towards I guess getting you know to to where he wants to be um but I don't what what what have you seen from from Walker beer well I'm feeling more positive about Walker berer than I am about Miller certainly I I think you know berer has his stuff is diminished but not by a lot lot right and and once once he sort of locks in on his command I feel like he's going to be a useful piece for the Dodgers like I said maybe it will be um kind of a a piggyback situation with another starter that but but I I could see them getting a a solid uh few Innings out of Walker buer um in in a series that so you know if you went um I if if you got glass now Yamamoto flarity and you were up maybe you're up 2-1 in a game four I could see you know trying to start Walker buer in a game four now there's going to be more days off of course so it won't be back to back to back like uh like you do in the regular season so there'll be more breathing room for but I could see a ber being kind of a game four starter in a five game series um we we'll we'll see yeah no I think with ber it's just after every injury it's a struggle like you just see it with anybody we saw it with Lux air coming back from his knee injury so that was a little bit for me kind of like I was a little more easy on berer than I am with Lux I kind of give Lux a harder time so sometimes I do have to remember like pitching's hard it's it's not going to be easy coming back we've seen it multiple times I'm not too concerned I think think what gets me most is I just want to see more improvements with our pitchers just like they're advancing rather than like we keep giving them chances and we keep losing games because of it but then also then again we do have pitchers come back and then I'm a huge offense person and if offense isn't helping out pitching then that that work just goes to waste like they're putting themselves out there and then offense isn't coming through to win those games but to me if they're having a good performance you can't look at wins and losses you have to look at what they give during their starts so and I think that's what I've been seeing from ber just working on the things that are just kind of tweaking them a little bit but I do see him in the postseason kind of just it's that pressure and I feel like he has that moment coming for him just got see it yeah I mean I'm I'm hoping like I mean I'm not expecting you know 2018 Walker beer I mean I'm hoping he could at least go out there and you know he'll give him if if he gets a start you know he'll get him five innings maybe six you know he gets a good start you know if he gives up a couple runs he keeps him in the game you know something like that and I think you know I think all fans would be happy with that you know Dodge would be happy with that so you know he's got he's got a couple more more starts to you know show where he's where he's going to be at and you we'll go from there but I wanted to just to quickly round back to the this Guardian series because we also saw sh hotani hit a massive shot today that I think it hit up uh under the The Stadium Club did no one has I saw tweet that said they never had seen a ball hit kind of in that area so another massive shot by by show yeah I I couldn't even track it on I was watching on TV and I couldn't I don't know where that ball went but I just saw it come down yes so I mean so he's at he's at 46 home runs 46 steals um he probably would have had 47 but he got picked off today you know it looked like he was probably getting ready to go but he he got picked off so he's at 4646 he's getting closer to 50/50 I think at this point it's pretty much not you know it's something like okay when's it going to happen right you're not thinking like what will it happen is kind of like when what day is it going to happen on when's it going to finally finally get there um I mean what are your guys' thoughts on this Chase of for history for sh Otani it's just impressive to watch like um I think as a Dodger fan you're just kind of sitting back and hoping it he gets it like I'm I'm a sucker for breaking records um I just think he's really fun to watch lately and I and um I'm just glad it pays off how much was his contract again like so many people who aren't Dodger friends tell me like oh it's they pay all that money but it just matters about postseason I'm like you know what he's having fun if he takes that into postseason I'm glad I think it's a different change for the Dugout I think them seeing him do that it kind of helps kind of boost that like oh like I want to be a part of that as well so I think it's just great for him and great for the whole team in general yeah it's certainly remarkable because you think um you know we we get o o Otani in sort of a half half of Otani this year and and so he just sort of you know off the top of his head says oh why don't I steal 50 bases this year as well you know it's like you know especially you know he's basically doubling his his biggest stolen base total of any other season so it's it's pretty amazing what this guy can do uh you know it's there there is a little part of me that says you know how much of sort of his diminished average lately is you know uh chasing homers and and I would like to see him hit for a little higher average like he was doing um at the beginning of the year um because he he has not been hitting for a real great average since like the first of October um so I'd like I'd like to see his batting average go up but you know it's hard to argue with the results because he is getting uh pretty regular uh Homer he got like what 12 homers in August I think it was so you know I guess you can forgive a 220 batting average when you have 12 homers that uh that so Stephen I I I wanted to I wanted to you know ask you to because you put up an article on um on Dodgers beat because there's been a lot a lot of talk right obviously sh you know what he's done right he joined the 4040 Club six person to do that six um and then obviously if he gets into the 50-50 club we the only only player to ever do that and there's been a lot of talk you know not you know you're talking about the the NL MVP it seemed like shoh would kind of be a Runaway Runaway uh choice for that you know but then we're getting a lot of fans in New York talking about Francisco Lindor in the season that he's having in New York that maybe he should be the MVP and biggest kind of the biggest argument right now is just because he's playing uh on the defensive side and and you know Otani DH and you obviously there's never been a DH to an MVP as well so how much stock do you put into that Stephen do you think um what do you think lindor's chances are I mean because when you look at the stats I mean noon's leading in every major category right and obviously he just doesn't have the defense defensive stats but what what are your thoughts on that whole NL MVP race well I think Lindor has an argument to make but in the end I don't think his playing shorts stop every day which is an important thing to do and and the Mets are are a good story in the second half of the season but I think in the end playing Short Stop every day doesn't make up for the kind of overwhelming statistical uh leadership that uh Otani has you know if if it was like Otani is a DH and somebody's else's numbers are are similar uh like like when people were comparing Zuna and Otani right those guys are both dhes okay so they're they're they're comparable but but I mean if if you have Otani uh way up high and Lindor you know having a solid season but still I mean let's be honest Lindor is the third best shortstop this year you know Bobby wit Jr is is better than Lindor gunar Henderson is having a better year than Lindor so you know it's it's hard for me to say well he's a shortstop so he should be MVP of the National League um just it to me it doesn't compute there's just not enough offensive production to to I mean if it was close I would say yes Lindor should get it because he's playing Short Stop every day but it's not even remotely close offensively you know it's um I I think in the in the latest uh I was looking at the latest War recently H and uh yeah I mean Lindor has like a a slight advantage in in in not even in war because I I wrote this article on Friday and and baseball reference had uh otani's War at 7.0 I think it's up to like 7.4 now uh and and it has uh Lindor at 6 .3 so even if you fact and war is supposed to factor in defense so even if you factor in defense utani still has a higher War so what are we talking about here um you know yes it's yes it's an impressive season that's Lindor is having and you know I could see a lot of East Coast writers saying well you know T's won twice lindor's never been MVP uh let's let's Spread spread the love around because we'll probably give it to Otani next year anyway when he's pitching again I I can see people thinking that way but but I think that's the wrong way to think you know who's having the best year in the National League this year sh Otani and and I think if he gets 5050 it's game set match it's over what are your thoughts on that whole NL MVP race yeah I have to agree with Steve I think with oton just being the way he is just and you have to remember he had surgery over the break like it's it's tough to come by and the athleticism you need to have to just hit 50 to go over 50 bombs and to steal he's technically a rehabbing pitcher at this point like he's rehabing before every game yeah so he's already trying to come back from that like and he's still hitting he's still focusing on that and just to be as fast as he is granted he's probably like two feet like taller than me but like just to get to first to second or even I see him stealing third base from time to time like that's impressive from a person to see so I think Lindor has a case but and I I am a sucker for shortstops they're so good and I give them all the credit in the world to be that leader but I feel like I you can't as Dodger fans are gonna say well you're biased he's on the Dodgers but when he was on the Angels everyone talked about it too so what's the difference he's putting up the same numbers even better than last year anything so it's just impressive I's he's already got more RBIs than he's ever had in his career um which is you know does it make sense because he's playing for the Dodgers and he was playing for the Angels so so you know RBIs are hard to hard to come by down there in Anaheim uh so you have you'll have more home runs once he get next home he's gonna have the most home run career he's gonna have most RBI ever his career um he's might not get to the highest batting average ever but but still you know um it's it's mighty damn impressive and I I would say um you know unless he he goes in the tank these last three weeks I think it's his to lose yeah I mean I you know I think you know I mentioned this before I already his case is like you know solid right and then but if he if he gets 50/50 like you said it's it's it's done it's over right having a player accomplish accomplish a feat that no one's ever done in the history of the game I mean come on you can't you can't say oh no he's not right and I mean he he already has done that because he's at 4646 nobody's done that before so I mean 5050 is a nice round number but already he's he's accomplished something that nobody's ever done before so so I I think um you know in in the end um given the kind of hoopla that has been around Otani that you know you you hate to think that uh poor New York City is getting ignored but um it seems like maybe finally the west coast is going to get his love and Otani is gonna win the MVP over Lindor I mean I mean God bless Lindor and he he's done amazing things to get that that kind of uh junk pile of the Mets back into the into the playoff picture uh as we speak right now they're tied exactly with Atlanta I think for that last spot so it you know God bless Lindor for doing it because he basically threw the team on his back and and and got them into contention but but uh I have I have to deci side we show here on this one yeah I think we're we're all in agreement of that so I wanna there's not a four hour line for the Lindor bobblehead I know that that's true so I want I want to switch gears a little bit you know you mentioned you know dodg has been playing some some good baseball right once once these key players have come back they we're seeing what we've kind of expected how we've expected expected them to play you know they and and it hasn't been easy right it hasn't been an easy stretch by far you know they they've had series against the Orioles right they won they when series they had Series against the Dbacks who have been riding the Dodgers you know tail right and they won that Series right now they win one against the Guardians um so they're playing good baseball but now they have you know the Cubs coming in and the Cubs for most of the season right they haven't really made a lot of noise but over the last couple weeks they' they've been making a lot of noise so they're a hot team coming in and they're you know they're they're trying to get into that wild card race they're five five games back so it's it's getting a little tough and I think the Dodgers you you know with you know a sweep or two to three game win in this series I think it it could really hurt the Cubs chances but uh I mean I'm excited to see this you know we got Cody Bellinger coming back you know obviously fan favorite he'll be back once again uh what what are you guys thinking about this this cup series how do you think uh Dodgers will do in end this series well I'm looking for good things um I think maybe the the the the Cubs are a hard team to figure out this year because they they have a lot of really nice pieces but it just has never quite come together they'll go on these little runs and then they'll fall back again and and I I feel like you know they went into uh they went into New York I think or or did the Yankees play in in Wrigley this this last weekend and yeah the Yankees were in Yankees wear rley the Yankees wear rly and the Yankees won two out of three right um so it seems like maybe that that their their bubble has been bopped a little bit and uh I not I wouldn't say they're reeling coming in but but I I think you know just like when we uh when we saw uh the Diamondback series you know the Diamondbacks had been playing like really really good baseball but for the couple of days prior to um the when the um when they um do just went into Phoenix they they had you know been coming down to earth a little bit and I feel like the same thing is happening with the Cubs is that their little streak has has kind of ended and and we'll see more of a kind of mediocre Cub team come into town um I I I mean as far as the Cubs are concerned they got to sweep because you know if if they if they lose any more ground to um the I mean because you've got two teams that you got to climb over in order to get into the wild card right you gota you gotta hope that there's an implosion of the Mets and the Braves right so I think you know for Cubs it's do or die this week you know if they're still five games out at the end of the week you know it's over you know start checking out the Min Leaguers because there's no there's no hope I mean I I think that um you know they're they're stowing Hendricks tomorrow uh and and Hendricks has had a rough go of it I mean he was so good back you know when we're thinking of 2016 Hendricks when they went to the World Series but Kyle Hendricks is not the same Kyle Hendricks anymore and and you know I would I would definitely take the over on the uh on the game tomorrow um and uh and the Yamamoto is coming back that'll be interesting if I I don't know if it lines up so he's going to be a Yamamoto imaga or on Tuesday or yeah it's imaga on Tuesday so yeah so that should be a good a good ticket yeah imaga has been pitching really well yeah they just had the no hitter there a couple of days ago right so so we'll we'll we'll see you know that would be a fun match up to see es I mean obviously we're not seeing full strength Yamamoto yet so so it's it's it's a little tilted in in ima's favor at the moment but but i' I'd like to to I'd like to see that game and and then we'll we'll see what happens on Wednesday I guess Wednesday is uh is it Miller maybe on Wednesday or it's still TBD TBD yeah prob probably Miller right yeah clear him out and then send but yeah we'll see uh yeah Miller pitched on on Saturday yeah so we'll we'll we'll see how it goes um and and I I think you know I would I would really like the Dodgers to get a lot of runs on the board so the offense is clicking when they go into Atlanta because Atlanta's got some some nasty pitching and and you know their their offens is down this year which is why they're not in first place but but their pitching in Atlanta is you know you know obviously Chris s's probably going to win the Sai Young this year and and you know they don't have Spencer Strider but they still have a lot of good arms there Max freed probably will see him so um yeah I I would really like to see us go on the road to an East Coast team and do well we we had that great series with the Yankees but then that Philadelphia series was very depressing and and so I'd like to see us kind of wash that out and go to an East Coast Contender and and get two out of three from them so I'm looking ahead a little bit but that's I'd like the Cub series to be a little little warmup to that this so what are you what are you looking forward to in this or what are you expecting from this CB series well like Steve was saying they the Cubs had the Yankees over this weekend and I they took one game and that's enough for me to be like well they believe I think this season they took two from the Dodgers in the beginning of the season so it's kind of it could go either way the Dodgers could win two they could win all three but at the same time I'm not going to be shocked if we go one and two because of just just either it's pitching it's hitting like we were talking about earlier if it's not one it's the other if pitching's on hitting's not on if hitting's on pitching's kind of struggling and especially since we have players coming back it they need to have performance es like um like Jack flarity had today I mean when's the last time we've seen pitchers go over seven Innings and that's impressive like we need to start having that mentality of our pitching our starting pitching to go into those deep Innings and kind of giving our Bullpen arrest and I think last week Alex vessia said like um it was like a it turned I forgot who started but it ended up being a bullpen game and they just stepped up and vessia I think he said like we have some dogs in the bullpen but it can't be like that all the time so it's I need I want to see more of our starting pictures going deep into it it's going to be interesting especially since yamamoto's coming back from the injury so but also I believe Hernandez is supposed to be either I think he's coming back tomorrow but it's still kind of dayto day with him so that was also a relief to hear that he's not going to be on the I that his foot injury is actually not as bad as they thought so I think he's a big part of the lineup and I think it's just getting those key hits and I think he's a big part of that yeah and then I totally you know when we're talking about the guardian series you know I forgot to mention the the start that that flar gave them right he got into the eighth inning um I mean Dodgers need that that's something that we haven't seen in a in a long time but it's it's good to you know get a you know I'll take seventh you know seven Innings you know if they get into the eighth even better right you know it like you mentioned you know the bullpen the bullpen you know they've been doing you know pretty good as well but they need to be well rested you know they can't be running out you know covering seven Innings one game and then five the next game and then seven again right like kind of like that that Series in in in Arizona right when when Kershaw went out you know they had to cover seven Innings there and then and then they had the other game with roleski where they they had to keep roleski in there to give him something because they couldn't go back a day later to go and get you know seven Innings again so but you know flarity stepped it up today and and to me that's really encouraging to see that because now if you get you know TI we'll get now we'll get into some of the health updates you know tighter glass now he threw off off the mound um is it yes was it yesterday believe it was yesterday so he threw off the mound so he's coming back he's gonna have that pen was kind of just a kind of a light pen just to get him on on a mount he hadn't been on a mound for a while he's going to have I believe it's one on Tuesday and that one's supposed to be more aggressive so how he comes out of that one is kind of that's kind of what they're waiting for because once he comes out of that one then they'll start getting into the simulated games and then kind of start getting him hopefully in some games before the the end of the season um as you mentioned too as well uh we got uh yoshinobu Yamamoto making his start on on Tuesday and that's going to be against imanaga so it should be you know just you know when you look at those names okay Yamamoto imanaga that's you're like okay this this is going to be a good match but you know like Steph was saying it's probably going to be a three inning Yamamoto maybe four Innings hopefully you know if he does and if he does really really good maybe he'll get him into the fifth right but I I doubt you know he'd even they let him go that far but but yeah some of these these injuries are you know they're coming back Stone uh there was another update on him he he is not going to pick up a ball for like 10 days and that's kind of Dave Roberts re reiterated that today he's still there kind of just letting him lay low so he's a little bit more concerning to me because you know 10 days out from now you know we're we're we're going to be getting towards the last what 10 days in September when he when he comes back or so so I mean that to me is a little if I don't know if we're gonna see Cav Stone back again because even maybe maybe like you know if they get you know a couple rounds into the postseason then probably that's probably what they're kind of eyeing but in the regular season I don't think we're going to see him again right well and this is why it's so critical for the Dodgers to get the one or two seed right I I mean be before um you know the one and two seed did not help us a lot because we were so flat when we came out of it but I think this this year you know getting an extra five days to rest to let pitchers get you know little some rest under them get get another game in or whatever because because we're really down to the wire with these guys right um you know whether it's whether it's Yamoto or glasow or or or Kershaw or or stone I mean there's four pictures right there that are out of the rotation that have to be built back up and and get if we win that first or second seed we got we get the buy for a weekend and it's you know an extra five days for this for that to happen and then you know hopefully you take care of business quickly in in the division series and then you you you're more into uh more of a standard Rotation by by the time you hit the NLCS but that's um you know there's a lot of ifs and and maybe in that scenario so so I I think you know you got to keep your eye on the rear of your mirror and make sure Milwaukee's not catching you for that those top two seats because I think it's critical this year that they get that first or second seed first seed would be preferable of course we don't want to go to Citizens Bank Park if we don't have to yeah I mean and just the way you know like we mentioned you know with Yamamoto back glass now looks like he'll be back I'm feeling you know a lot better you know in a postseason rotation that's that's featuring you know flattery Yamamoto glass now and then like we said you know you got a walker buer we don't know what where Kershaw will be able to contrib rute as well but now with those three guys right there you're you're feeling a lot better than than if you had to to go okay we'll go with flattery and then you got to go with you know Walker bu and Bobby Miller at a necessity right so now you're feeling that that that that rotation for the playoffs you know for me it's a lot more okay I I like this the way this rotation is is headed Lista what are you what are you thinking about a PO a postseason rotation like that yeah I feel a little more confident with that um I know we discussed Miller not being in that so I'm not even going to touch on that but I feel like it's more on just getting through their Innings kind of just having that control of the strike zone because I feel like once we get out of that once we start throwing wild pitches or just not letting uh hitters kind of swing at the ball I feel like a lot more now everyone's like well it's about movement it's about speed and all these things but in reality it's just your slots let your defense work for you kind of I don't feel I feel like with pitching we're kind of younger but with like all the injuries it just feels um I'm more optimistic with it than I have been in the past years I feel like our pitching has been better but it's just getting through those injuries so just kind of like Steve said having those breaks having those um those days off will pay off for them big time yeah and and if if if you're if you're confident of getting a a Buy in that first round you can you know pitch glaso on the last day to get him some work in you know you you you can you can you know throw your starters all the way up until game 162 whereas if you know that you're going to go into a a weekend Wild Card series you have you have to really kind of uh dial back on that and and you know I this is what scares me is are these guys going to be built up enough by the 1 of October uh it's I don't want to make any predictions but uh I suppose we'll get something out of all of them but what we're gonna get is the question I don't count on any of them for for for I mean I I would say right now you You' have to say Jack flare is your game one starter because he's the one who who can who shown as he did today and this hasn't been always true because flare starts previous for the Dodgers have not been that long but he got deep into the game and man I mean uh you know Roger you mentioned it but I have not seen Jack flarity pitch that well I don't know if ever that was like spectacular what he did today um you know I I suppose if you go back to his St Louis days he had a start in there that was that good but boy that was a good like two years ago I believe yeah two three or three years ago I think it was 21 yeah yeah and he was he had he had his share of good starts in Detroit but nobody know nobody knows about those yeah so so yeah I mean so like we mentioned those guys coming back from injury a couple other guys uh bruar grall Roberts had mentioned maybe he could have been activated today so I'm probably be getting in activated I expect probably maybe tomorrow for Monday's game and probably I'd see maybe Nick Ramirez probably going back down having a bruar and to Oscar Hernandez who got hit by a pitch the other day on his foot and it looked at the moment it looked it looked pretty scary right pretty bad you know he left on a walking boot uh he couldn't even like really walk on his own off the field um but you know he spoke uh the other day saying you know he's good um bruising and and stuff and he's trying to get back so maybe we'll see him maybe by Tuesday so that's not going to be uh uh something that we have to worry about going forward you know losing him because you know if we would have lost him at that moment you know probably would have been you know for the rest of the of the season so so that's a good note there and you know he should be back uh but I think we're gonna start wrapping this up anything else any closing comments from you guys just really excited for GR all to come back I I I'm a personal fan of him I love that guy I love the and you know we we should uh give give some more love to Michael copc because man he he has been all the Dodgers could have hoped for you know uh he pitched another scoreless inning uh um on what on did he pitch today I today's game yeah today's game yeah he came in with one out he picked up for for flattery yeah he picked up flarity and and man uh he's I I think the thing about grat all which you you love is you know you love he can get bring the heat but he doesn't have the swing and Mist that that that copc has so you know that that's the thing the graterol always induces sort of weak contact but but you know sometimes you don't need weak contact you need a strikeout and and it seems like with copc we finally have you know our new Kenley Janson who who can really just you know lock it down and and uh you know what you know strike one strike two strike three uh you're out that's I think copc is is going to be a very key piece going forward for sure yeah this is a discussion for another day but I I still was kind of hoping you know they'd kind of put him in that closer row but it kind of looks like they're kind of still using them in anywhere from the seventh eth or ninth kind of just that that that fireman Ro kind of just put out the fire you know they they they need they need somebody but but yeah I mean I I tend to agree with you that that I'd like to see him in the ninth and and I'd feel a lot more confident Phillips you know like I said a story a story for another day but uh but sometimes Phillips makes me nervous yeah yeah but you know Copic you know you know since he's been you know I I love that swinging Miss stuff like you want you want your pitcher to go out there and just you know throw heat and and he works pretty fast right you know he'll get a strike out you know three four pitches right and it's done right just they come up and I love seeing that and you know that's what a closer does right you look at some of these top in the class right from the Guardians goes out there does his business really quick right Friday night boy that was that was something yeah so don't mess around with man class say you better be ahead in the ninth inning against the Guardians I'll tell you exactly so you know I'm hoping you know that that's Michael copc you know that that you know especially like in the postseason right you you need to close the game out comes Copic close it out yeah he's he's been pretty much that he had that one bad outing and and when we blew that big lead what a couple weeks ago right but but you know other than that I think it's all zeros right yeah yeah so like we said that's that's gonna go ahead and wrap this guy up and I appreciate it appreciate you know Steve and Lissa coming on and and hopping on and talking some some some Dodger baseball in in rewind but I appreciate the time you guys and we'll go ahead and end this one and we'll talk to you guys on the next one looking forward to it all right go Dodgers this episode has been brought to you
