Michigan Wolverines DEFEAT Fresno St | What Should Sherrone Moore Do At QB Ahead of Texas Game?

Michigan in their first game since winning the whole darn thing beats Fresno stay at the crib final score Michigan 30 Fresno State 10 what do we make of Michigan because it's a very different looking outfit now no more JJ McCarthy no more Jim Harbaugh instead it's Chiron Moore and Davis Warren whole new cast of characters on offense and quite frankly a few new characters on defense what do we make of Michigan it's a good wimble what do we make of what they uh what they did cuz some folks would say ah got Texas next week I don't know I don't know about the Wolverines we'll talk about all that Michigan defense like not just in label but I mean in play style because yes a lot of guys went to the NFL from last year's Squad did not look like they missed a beat to me okay like Fresno State yes they got some plays through the air to me I believe that Michigan overall was very vanilla and Fresno State just had a couple of Playmakers they won in man coverage a few times but even with that being said Michigan allowed nine yards rushing had two interception ctions one ultimately a pick six to put the game on ice from will Johnson like everything that we have come to know about Michigan defensively over the course of the last three years doesn't matter who's the DC doesn't matter who the Personnel is they kind of bring that same flavor to the table every single year I understand this is game one I understand there's some things now if you're a Michigan fan you're like ah I don't know if I love us losing in man coverage I don't know how that's going to go next week against Texas again I think wink marale as the DC there will be a lot lot more exotic in the games going forward think it was very vanilla I think this Michigan defense is uh going to be a problem for a lot of folks here throughout the 2024 season feel pretty confident in saying that now offensively I think there's this this tradeoff you're trying to talk yourself through from the first game because like I said about the defense I think the Michigan offense was very conservative very vanilla we're not going to show too much we're just going to kind of get a dub and then move on to Texas the next week at the same time when you're conservative in your vanilla and your Basics sometimes it feels like there's a lack of identity that's kind of the thing I'm talking through this morning with myself as I try to break down Michigan Davis Warren in his first start 15 for 25 a buck 18 a touchdown a pick it's his first start I I wouldn't Pound the Alarm on what you didn't see just because he wasn't JJ McCarthy like he earned this job put a little bit of faith in this staff put a little bit of faith in their process behind closed doors practicing against that Michigan defense like that should count for something that he won the job Alex orgy when called upon I thought brought a lot of juice to the offense I think speaking to this game like this should be the game where when Alex orgy decides to tuck it and run and has designed runs called for him like he's a superior athlete Michigan is Superior in the trenches they should be able to have some success and so when we talk about the plan going forward here it feels to me a whole lot like Davis Warren is the guy until further notice like we said in this game going into it hey play both guys get more data continue to assess them the way that everything is looking to me by nature of how they played Davis Warren and just the way they talk about it it feels like it's Davis Warren Warren's job until something changes and if if I'm Michigan yes Alex Oru brings a lot with his legs he has to be involved in the offense there's no way around you are better with 10 on the field touching the football in different situations but at the end of the day like Empower Davis Warren let him it's his football team let him know it's his offense because it is so difficult to feel the confidence and the trust of your team when you're always looking over your shoulder and saying okay well if I make an interception here are we going to be switching quarterbacks am I am I going to be you know uh having to come in and out of the game all this like let him play through his mistakes let him play through his first start because at the end of the day y'all that's what it was it was the first start okay this what we saw from Davis Warren in a winning effort mind you is just the tip of the iceberg so I think there's going to be a lot of overreaction talk today about well if they play that way against Texas they're not even going to I promise you the scheme that they had in place against Fresno State and the scheme they have against Texas I have to believe at least defensively will be very very different based on the way that they played offensively in terms of uh how they distributed the football feels very evident that shron Moore and Kurt Campbell want to get the football to coulston leveland I mean when it was crunch time win to him uh 8 for 87 and a touchdown that tells us everything we need to know they want to get the football to 18 and evidently by having Davis Warren in the game they believe that he gives them a good chance to get the ball to Playmakers and they feel an emphasis on getting the ball to those Playmakers in the perimeter they want to run the football I think you'll see them do more of that mullings played great having 92 yards on the ground Domin Edwards I think will uh continue to progress and come along and and you know I don't think there should be a ton of question around he brings to the table so all that's to say like I think this Michigan team yes there's some things that will look different from previous years based on the names and and you know the guys on the depth chart but even with that being said I think the approach is still the same run the football very clearly they obviously want to get the football to specific guys in space coulston levelin being one of those guys that want to get the football to downfield like Davis Warren now allow him to cook allow him to progress allow him to grow I would say too don't sell your stock just yet on Michigan because they didn't cover the spread against Fresno State um don't sell the stock they are going to be better throughout the course of the season if we know anything about Michigan and their DNA traits a lot of guys first time playing uh you know more impactful minutes last night just give it some time because I would say this too the resistance they had from that game the situation they found themselves in where you know they're trying to pull away from a Fresno State team and the things they didn't do well I think as cliche as it sounds will ultimately be a learning moment for them and allow them to be better the next time they're in that situation okay so for Michigan you don't apologize for a win I think it should be Davis Warren's football team right now going forward based on what their perceived offensive plan is Michigan finding a way to get it done at home next week now big game in an arbor against Texas can't wait make sure subscribed we appreciate y'all we love yall we're going
