trying right now to get some coverage for you guys but um active shooter right now London Kentucky our rural area um hold on real quick uh he's considered armed and dangerous of some sort let me see background heavy presence military background I took a call from a female3 88 Highway 1228 coming from the 490 Direction current at this time multiple gunshots multiple gunshots I'm trying to get a helicop multiple calls reporting that it's such a okay so this is the helicopter feed that I'm getting but I don't have an actual feed here he goes he's this is live right here he's going around N US whatever sits up on the top of the hill on the left 25 behind some Double Gates we'll come out there you can have somebody meet us there with a vehicle about eight people back we should have an EA probably about 10 minutes left family of six that was in the woods just North of Hazel patch Woods within the next 20 to 30 minutes like d see for TR in you all St them in the area yeah ago they' be they they they arrested him it was going to be a giant terrorist attack in Brooklyn New York moment is shooting near the I75 in Kentucky I'd like to put up this tweet here from the governor of Kentucky Andy Basher is saying this Kentucky we are aware of a shooting on I75 in Laurel County Law Enforcement has shut the interstate down in both directions at Exit 49 please avoid the area we will provide more details once they are available so a little bit more context as to this a developing story that we are monitoring herey at live now from fo of the shooting being investigated in Kentucky near I75 the Laurel County Sheriff's Office first put out an alert around 6:45 p.m. local time to avoid I75 in a particular area in London Kentucky due to an active shooter situation the office said in a post on Facebook that quote numerous persons had been shot but didn't elaborate the mayor of London Randall wed also posted on his official Facebook page to avoid the area until further notice Governor Andy Basher as I had mentioned saying his office was aware of a shooting on I75 and said law enforcement had shut down the interstate in both directions again this is the developing story and still we are working to get more information another tweet here from the governor saying I am receiving initial reports from the Kentucky State Police and our office of Homeland Security together we are actively monitoring the situation and offering support in any way possible please pray for everyone involved it's just one of those breaking news situations that we are going to monitor throughout this evening we don't have too many details on exactly how many people were shot if anybody was critically injured or if anyone has died we are working to get all of that again we are monitoring the Facebook pages and also the social media pages of all of these local law enforcement agencies and local officials that are monitoring this situation we're going step away for a quial break we continue in London Kentucky that is in the southern part of the state about an hour and a half south of Lexington now multiple police departments in the area responding to the incident these are just some of the images we're starting to get into our Newsroom now reports saying numerous people have been shot noting that the shooter has not been apprehended at this time Lexington Police Department telling our local affiliate on the ground there that a police helicopter is on standby ambulances will be coming through soon they say officials have shut down the interstate in the meantime in both directions on I75 so if we could look at that map right here this is going there should be a little yellow gate on the left side of the road go up to a truck top of hill we'll go out right around that yellow gate a yellow gate on the left side of the road if you P out of the 909 and 25 it may be you can see on the map the situation really focused around I75 around Livingston in London Kentucky the mayor sending out a notice on Facebook alerting all locals to avoid that Highway Kentucky Governor Andy Basher also tweeting he is aware of the shooting we do have a reporter headed to learn more at been caught at this time we are urging people to stay inside people are looking for a potential multiple snipers hiding in the woods what is happening multiple snipers share your location cell phone if you got that number for's location shared as well so we can see you on that one of the most highly traveled interestate in the US is now shut down in both directions multiple snipers I must repeat have not been apprehended at this time but they are searching for them um currently we do have command post set up uh at the 909 and us25 and I want to first thank all of our First Responders law enforcement Rescue Squad uh the Laurel County Sheriff's Department the state police the FBI everybody that's assisting in this uh the governor bashir's office who has reached out uh as well as the White House we thank everybody for their prayers uh their support and throughout the community thank you as well and just keep our First Responders in your prayers uh but I wanted to give everybody just a little update again the uh the subject or subjects have not been apprehended but they are searching for them where they are currently that is some rugged terrain and a lot of tree lines if you guys know northern part of Laurel County it's just is what it is uh but I'm confident they will uh apprehend them we are asking everybody in the city of limons to be vigilant and know what your surroundings if you're home keep your doors locked I'm not asking anybody to pay pic there is no immediate danger here in the city but again uh while these guys or this person is on the loose we are asking everybody to be safe if you're out and about just be vigilant we want to try to keep everybody in this community safe and uh we do have uh the Manchester PD they have came over to assist us we want to thank the mayor and the PD there and the chief of police for sending those units to us um and all the other surrounding counties and C C police departments that has called and sent units or offered to help in some way this uh many of you are over to assist us we uh currently they were seven I'm being told seven people that was injured not all of them was gunshots some of them was due to because they're searching for him he is a person of interest in this case we know very little about this developing situation out of Kentucky but what little we do know is this new numerous people have been shot in an active shooter situation on Interstate 75 near Exit 49 just north of London Kentucky it's according to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office on Saturday evening the sheriff's office said the highway was closed near the exit which is 9 miles north of London Police had responded to reports that a suspect was shooting at drivers from an overpass or a wooded area according to multiple media accounts an overpass police are still searching for the suspect according to derter Brian yenis sharing so CH it it was that location that I showed earlier it was this post from the lurel county sheriff's office that the below person is a person of interest in this shooting situation that is Joseph a couch that's a photo of him right now we don't know too much about the situation Governor Andy Basher has told people to avoid the area Basher said on X that he's aware of the shooting on I75 and that law enforcement have shut the interstate down in both directions at Exit 49 avoid the area we will provide more details once they are available uh but again not too many details coming into The Newsroom as of yet we're still learning to we're still waiting to learn more um we do know that the mayor of London Kentucky has also said on Facebook to avoid the area uh we're checking social media to see if the Laurel County Sheriff's Office perhaps put out any other information but as of last check this is the last thing that we've seen from them which is the picture of this suspect that is uh one Joseph a couch it's a person of interest in the shooting that occurred at the Exit 49 in uh in Kentucky so we'll keep you posted on the situation again fluid situation we are learning more and uh there's not a lot to know during these breaking moments sometimes we just work with very preliminary details for hours it can be depending on the jurisdiction different law enforcement jurisdictions work at different speeds um and especially on a weekend um information sometimes can come slower so we'll bring you updates as soon as we have them but for now lurel County sheriff is looking for Joseph A cout she is a person of interest related to this shooting in Kentucky all we know for now is that multiple people have been shot near I75 we don't have any specifics about casualties we don't have any more specifics other than Joseph aouch is a person of interest and that's identified as 32-year-old Joseph couch police describing couch as armed and dangerous and are urging residents to stay inside avoid the area and certainly do not approach couch if you see him we also
