Madden NFL 25: Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions- Full Gameplay

it's the National Football League on EA Sports where we'll see two of the NFL's oldest and most storied franchises it's the Los Angeles Rams and the Detroit Lions on Sunday night prime time it's a city home to one of the most loyal and passionate fan bases in football and all the noise they're making is being captured by the Dome here at field in Detroit thanks for joining us everyone with my partner Brock hward I'm Kate Scott and like so many matchups in the NFL Brock our focus goes right to the quarterbacks in this one both of these guys players who've been around the league now for some time they definitely established themselves as veterans who know how to win football games yeah I think the word of the day Kate is definitely experienced two guys who've been through the season several times over they've seen a lot at this point in their career and been through quite a bit on the field all that experience to sort up there right between the ears and the one who is more skilled at leveraging that experience un likely is going to come away with the win Greg Reynolds to return it this return makes it up to the 25 so the Lions take the field for their first drive and leading them out in his ninth NFL season experienced a real Resurgence last year it's Jared G Kate there are other flash year quarterbacks that make more highlight re plays than Jared G there certainly are bigger and stronger athletes playing the position today but Jared's just a throwback a guy that understands the timing and the Precision I love that he knows what he is and what he isn't when it comes to his skills and it's why he's been able to flourish in multiple places and why he continues to sustain a lot of success in this league gives Montgomery to start the drive and will get taken down after advancing this to the 37 they'll move the chains after that pick up of 12 that was the perfect play call for that particular situation gave him enough to pick up a first some room to spare markers reset ball at the 37 going to the ground again on first breaks the tackle still going down the sideline past the 40 that's going to pick up the first down after a gain of 26 I'll tell you what K one of the things I'm most proud of coming out of broadcast are my old line buddies that will hit me up during the game and say thank you thank you for finally showing some love and giving some light to what those big boys are doing up FR I got to play with some of the best Tod do I got to see it up close and personal because of it I'll never forget it and they just showed up on that run first G on the ground to deir Gibbs and they're going to stop him after he wiggles his way forward for two you know Kate I like to call these body blows body blows you got to be committed to running the football even if it doesn't move the chains I guarantee you that wear and tear will pay dividends later eight yds to go let's see how they approach this second down Montgomery now up the middle and he's tackled after gaining a handful got five and now it's going to be third down and three fans love the long ball and baseball it's like they got the Home Run Derby but you know what talk to managers and they will tell you small ball can win too singles and doubles you add them up you can win a lot of baseball games football coaches will tell you you get runs of that length if may not be a home run it may not score points but it can do some serious damage gof now on third down complete to Raymond and they will score touchdown Detroit the Lions start the game off right with a 60 lead he finds one of his great receivers Brock and they are off to a great start to begin this ball game yeah it's such a positive offensively where you could go find not just a field goal but a touchdown on that open opening drive and defensively this starts to shake the foundation of your preparation and makes you wonder what's in store baites now for the point after that one splits the upright and they add one on to their first touchdown of the contest [Applause] fox now to kick this one away two two Atwell now to return it and a decent return ends as they bring him down inside the 30 so the Rams offense getting out there for their opening drive the game and they're brought out by the 16-year pro rebounded from an injury last season Matthew Stafford long before this guy named momes in Kansas city was throwing no look passes and crazy off platform throws there was a guy doing it in Detroit his name was Matthew Stafford nobody really noticed though because the Lions they just didn't win enough to be relevant well fast forward put Matthew Stafford in LA and we know the rest of the story a Super Bowl champ after being banged up a year ago came back and elevated those Rams to yet again another playoff opportunity when I think of the guys that I just simply love to watch the throw it there's not very many on this planet that do it better than Matthew Stafford see the pass time up your hit and jar that ball Lo not a lot of players are hanging on through a well-placed hit like that one couldn't connect on first it's second down the first Carry now for Ken Williams and he'll go down after pushing this up to the 29 only two yds on the play and it brings up third and I think one thing you learned Kate when you transition from college to the NFL not every run is going to be a big play some of them will they're just destined to end in a minimal game and some of them will set up that critical play action for later throwing his Stafford on third it's tipped away and he's going to hit the ground incomplete Defender winning that that brings up fourth down there's the importance of staying in pH as a Defender he was all over him in coverage and that really did help Force the incompletion Rams going to punt on fourth down and they're calling Ethan Evans to the [Applause] field and he'll have this fair catch right along the 25 we don't get a return out of that punt and the lions will go on offense they're out and set first and 10 St Brown the receiver in motion right on first down they'll run with Montgomery and he pushes forward but they don't get much there only two yards and it brings up second and eight hey we know running the ball in the NFL is hard and that play pretty indicative of it here's the key though at the end of the game those type of plays got to be in the minority and the majority have got to do some damage eight yds to go let's see how they approach this second down they send the tight end in motion left running on second with Montgomery and he's going to be marked down about four yd away from that first down marker you know this is an offense that will emphasize the ground game at different points of each and every contest and as long as they could reliably get gains like this it's not going to change anytime soon chance to move the chains here on third and four here's G dumps it off to his running back you know Kate that's exactly what that coverage was meant for make the quarterback throw it short go up and rally and get yourself off the field on comes Jack Fox they handle the fourth down punt for the Lions oo and this is a worm burner he didn't hit this one and he'll haul in this punt fair catch made at the 45 yd line that punt goes unanswered no return there and the Rams will take possession new set of downs for him from the 46 on first down here's Stafford he gets this one in AA and he drives this across Midfield and down into enemy territory that is the epitome of staying on schedule that kind of completion right there on first down what opens up the entirety of the playbook for second down third and short in your back pocket you can get even more aggressive and take that shot nice spot here for the offense it's second and one now Stafford to throw they'll set up the screen and just gets back to the line of scrimmage K I'm going to call that even though it looks like nothing on the stat sheet a win-win for both sides the defense well they rally they get right to that throw in the flat for a no game the offense they just remind that defense not only got to cover us vertically we're going to stretch you horizontally as well they pick the hand off now Safford that's caught for the first and out of bounds right at the 40 yd line it's a gain of four there and it brings up an LA first down that's what we call situational football you spend all week working on your nickel passing game like that slated Downs to approach here from the 40 [Applause] Safford now on first down it's taken in by Williams and he's brought down for a loss well if they were concerned about losing yards running it on first down it just happened anyway not many passes end in the loss hopefully they got a little more aggressive strategy coming here on second down [Applause] everyone's prepped it's second down now from the gun a carry by Williams and he's got a decent gain before being brought down it's a gain of four they're going to need tce that now on Third and eight you know these are the kind of runs Kate that a balanced game plan and the Balan offense is built up it gets you good yardage it sets up your play action and it keeps that defense [Music] honest throw on third down complete beyond the marker and he's going to be brought down at the 23 yd line 16 yds on the play and the Rams are going to have a first down I may love watching a great thrower but I love watching a well done route 2K make that guy think you're trying to stack him only to drop your hips and cut right inside some good work to help res set those chains the drive picks up here first and 10 give to Williams from the gun and he won't get anything there several Defenders nearby to hold him up call it no gain on that run and they face second and 10 and time runs out before they get the snap off that's the end of one neither sign separating much so far we're back to Ford Field right after this time for the second quarter of Play It's Rams football they're advancing it well as they face second down here's Stafford that one is incomplete couldn't hang on through the contact timing is everything in life and timing is everything defensively that throw was just a little bit late and gave the defense time to close deliver a pop and knock that ball loose no connection on the last play and out third down shotgun sna to stford he'll dump this one off to his running back complete and he gets this down to the 13 yd line give him an even 10 yds on the play and it brings up an LA first down year after year the best offenses are multifaceted it's not just the receivers or the tight ends that can make plays through the air when you get running backs that can attack the middle of the field like that man it's a difficult on the defense and they've got themselves another first and 10 this one's CAU and he's short of the first after a mile game every once in a while it's fine to be conservative on first down especially when you get enough to stay on schedule and get a little something coming out of the [Applause] two halfway to the marker it's second and five now Safford again and it's caught and he will score touchdown Los Angeles the Rams can tie it up in a second after cutting into the lead great opportunity to find a touchdown there Brock and they come through a six receivers want the ball everywhere on the football field but you start smelling the end zone they really want their chance and they will tell you as a quarterback just give me an opportunity and I'll make a play and he sure did on comes Joshua cardi to try the extra [Applause] point that one right down the middle and we're all not it up after the touchdown Cel set up to send this away has this at the six th team gets him down at the 26 yd line the Lions and running back David Montgomery getting back to work they were only on the field for three plays their prior series Brock let's see what changes they make to take over here offense ready to begin this drive first and 10 [Applause] out of the shotgun G finds his man it's Amro St Brown still going inside the 35 and they will score touchdown Detroit the Lions need only one to take the lead off St Brown the touchdown so Brock this offense starting to find its Rhythm a [ __ ] as they finish things with a touchdown there to give him the lead and the key word there that you said is finish because you want to have that mindset even an early of the game that field goals aren't going to cut it so that's great work to make sure they finish with six points bait now for the point after that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] fox now to kick this one away his return starts at the five he stopped on the return at the 27 well we've already seen some nice plays here and we're going to see plenty more before this game ends but you might be thinking with play like that my gu ratings should be better well you're not alone you got a chance to let the Madden ratings hotline know just what you're thinking give him a call 1844 mad one and make your case for who should get a boost here's Williams to start the drive and he runs into a wall there multiple Defenders ready to stop him cold at the line no progress on first down and that'll bring up second and 10 these linebackers of today they are so quick they're so Twitchy you don't get a body on them in a hurry they're going to stick you right at the line of scrimmage second and 10 need to get some positive yardage here working from the gun here's Stafford that's taken in by C they deliver a shot before he can get to the line I got to be honest with you Kate that's an occasion where a drop would have been a whole lot better than a completion couldn't find the way back to the line and it's a rare pass that actually loses [Music] yardage got to figure out this third down here Stafford from the gun he puts some air under a deep throw to the left they really wi for it on third down Bay with the he BS incomplete now they're facing fourth down I think it's fair to say in the ey the sky in line without that ball being tip we were looking at the big game missed opportunity to push their offense and a great play on the other side to deny the throw the Rams are set to punt deep for the Lions khif Raymond first punt win 45 yds this looks considerably further Fields this clean at the 30 and they bring him down to put a stop to that return the Lions and wide receiver almond Ross St Brown getting set for their next drive and they've had a real connection looking his way in our opening half seems pretty clear that he's the one the coverage is going to have to adjust to and start slowing down good field position for the Lions here as they head up to the line first and 10 this is Montgomery running right and he has him a small chunk of yards up to the the 42 pick up of eight on the run and that sets up second and two so much to like about that run Kate particularly what he was able to get out of it the defense I think feels a little fortunate they were able to track him down before an even bigger run and Crossing that first down marker after a good pick up they're set up with second and short staying on the ground with Montgomery and he's tackled with the first down yardage look here you don't even have to worry now about a third down call as that room moves the sticks now that call you had ready though you can recycle it save it for later for that next third down coming first and 10 ball set up at the 48 it's Montgomery on the counter open space inside the 40 and he's all the way down to the 32 yd line it's a gain of 19 on the play and that'll be first down Detroit yeah you want to get about five yds a carry put together runs like that I'll tell you what Elsa run like that does Kate that sets up the play action right when you really just gouge and gash a defense like that next time you run that action they're going to be thinking running the ball to go right over their head it's a new set of downs for him at the [Applause] 32 first down and they go right back to it and he's brought down after taking this to the 26 man he's been having a great first half really playing a key role so far in this offense but you know and I know what's coming Kate we call them adjustments right you hit a homer you you take that fast Ball Deep you're not going to see it anymore and you get run on like this the defense going to make some adjustments at halftime after a good pick up they've got second and [Applause] four they'll get two out of that and that play brings us to the two-minute warning [Applause] third and a lone yard coming up shotgun snap here to go her get to him and he's dropped now the Rams will use the first of their timeouts they'll have two left to work with before halftime Lions making the call for their field goal unit from the right hatch this is going to be a 51 Y and this kick is good he needed to get all of it there and he did and that'll push it to double digits in a two possession game a lot of them may make it look automatic but you get this and those field goals are far from a certainty it took all this concentration every bit of his strength to send that puppy [Applause] through fox now to kick this one away return coming from the six coverage team gets him down at the 26 yd line the Rams set to go on offense once more they're down 10 partway through this one score is 177 Drive starts out with a first and 10 Stafford now throw complete to Williams and he'll get it up to the 27 clock continuing to run as the Rams hurry to the line here we go second and nine to the left sideline complete and he'll be out of Bounds at his own 45 that'll go for an 18 yd gain and the Rams are going to have a first down that's just great instincts go air it out on second down rather than just play conservative and run it they hit a weak point in the coverage and don't need to worry about third down at all throwing now on first down stappord here's a throw on the out roundout complete KY I can't tell you how good that is anticipating the outcut having the ball on the way before the receiver's head even turns he puts it on him so that receiver can easily get out of bounds for the nice game in a good spot here second and Ines that's a throw here Stafford no hesitation and that one's caught and they get this down to the 28 that one goes for 17 yards and moves the chains you want to become a quarterback's best friend do that turn a short little gain a short little pass into some yards after catch and that quarterback will find you again [Applause] he brings the offense up now for a first and 10 out of the gun they'll look to throw that's complete the on the left side and they get this down to the 12 yd line before being stopped they're now set for first and 10 from the red zone now oh he's in trouble here he'll go down the lions got him and the big play drives them backwards second down coming up [Applause] another try following the sack he gets this one in the and they get this down to the seven yd line offense up to the line fast now just before the break a timeout taken by the offense and they can trve for some points going into the break break only time left for one more snap Rock so they going to run out their field goal unit pretty automatic look for him from the left and it is good no problems there on the shorter attempt and that'll bring it back to within a score the lead seven in that close in the Red Zone you know they're upset that couldn't finish the drive with a touchdown only half the points but at least there's something to show for The Possession well BR the touch back this kickoff should run out the half so better make that return good as it's away well into the end zone he's going to bring this out and he's brought down they're spotting this one right at the 20 we've arrived at halime here in Detroit the Lions defending their building they've got the lead at the break now we'll send you South to our Orlando studios for the EA Sports halftime report with Jonathan Coachman offense his two touchdown passes helped pave the way for his guys to take this lead into the intermission with that the two squads are headed out of the tunnel so let's get you back out to K Scott and Brock Huer all right thank you coach and we are back back and about set to begin the second [Applause] half Fox now to kick this one away that's going to be taken in at the [Applause] eight and pretty solid field position starting out here Brock he's tackled at the 29 Los Angeles getting its offense set to go to begin the third they'll look to KN up this game right now as they tra 1710 they'll get this dve started first and 10 Stafford and the Lions get him down he goes and the big play drives them backwards second down coming up my goodness was that some kind of speed off the edge there's only a handful of tackles in this leag that have the lateral movement to stay in front of an end like that it may be time for this quarterback to start mixing up his Cadence his count certainly making sure this defensive end can't get off the way that he has back to the line they go it's second down trying again following the sack and there's a man there it's intercepted and forget the interception he makes this a pick six touchdown thrown it ex to where linebacker coming to play in cage partner and sure enough one of them jumps it and takes it to the house you say that you know want to think about I think about the depth finder on my fishing butt you're absolutely right this is where these linebackers love to lurk and could do some serious damage baites now for the point after that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their [Music] [Applause] lead a quick chance at Redemption after that pick six as it's sent away starting from the five and he's going to make this to the 28 before going down possession switching back to the LA offense as they head out and they didn't have much time to recover from that pick six need short memories here as they head back [Applause] out and the drive will start out with a first and 10 now Stafford to throw this is hauled in by Atwell and they're going to bring him down just beyond the 30 at the 31 that's a pretty similar result to a first down Run play moves It Forward keeps he on schedule makes second and third down a whole lot easier to manage second down now seven to go and the defense gets there to force a small loss you run that drop play Kate you got to become a really really good actor as a quarterback you got to drop back and make sure those ends pass you so that drop can hit it up the gun not that time that end was not buying the story the quarterback was trying to sell so a tough spot now this is third and nine to throw Safford it's complete to witon and he'll take it up to the 30 before being brought down just little short throws they are high percentage and certainly bread and butter but they really run the risk of a quick tackle just like that and being stopped short of the sticks the Rams are set to punt Ethan Evans the one to kick it away and he sends this away definitely his best kick of the game thus far and they bring him down to put a stop to that return the Lions and this running back headed back out for a new series and unsurprisingly Brock a great day on the scoreboard so far for him has it with the advantage as we move through this third quarter they're out in set first and 10 a start on the ground with gibs and he won't Salvage that it's a loss on the play stop made that time by the rookie from Florida State well he was supposed to be the one who chipped away a few and got a new set of down started right in Rhythm instead he's now forced to pick himself from behind the line thanks to a great effort defensively offense to the line for second down from the gun G made the throw as he was getting hit Brock and it's incomplete you know when we were growing up in the backyard we call them alligators one alligator two alligator three alligator he needed another alligator in order to get that ball off credit the defense for forcing the incompletion last pass unsuccessful and they have third down [Applause] here throwing is gone complete beyond the marker and they finally bring him down but that is a big gain and a new set of down how about that play Brock on Third and 14 they find a way to convert you know okay you'll find teams go to this Crossing route concept sometimes a dozen times a game a lot of times it's for shorter yardage but sometimes things breaking the right coverage for a much bigger impact play just like that football on that 47 yd line first down a give up the gut to Montgomery and they get there to take him down right around the 41 he's been a picture for them all game and all signs indicate Brock he's going to remain one in the time we've got left yeah they've leaned on him in certain spots and he has shouldered the load oh so well put together a game that everyone's happy with first and 10 from the 41 Montgomery gets it from the gun and they try to power it forward but only a couple yards there he that's a run that's whole hum on the stat sheet but if you see a bigger play on the ground later on Lely be because of a play just like that one softening up the front and opening the door for a bigger Gap in the future eight Ys to go let's see how they approach this second down G to the air now so this one goes against the offense [Applause] interfer so they had the incompletion but the defense decides they'd rather take the penalty and the yards and play that down again all right here we go second down here's G Raymond there to grab it and he's marked down looks like at the 32 yd line well he came down a little awkwardly after making that tackle looks like he's in some discomfort now we're going to have medical head out to check on [Applause] him the Rams showing a nickel look third down coming up here's Montgomery he's got the First with a room to go inside the 20 and he is all the way ahead to the 13 yd line big Gainer here as he picks up 20 and that gives the Lions the first win the early battle get little leverage low man wins off the line and that's all that was needed to ensure that first down right there up to the line and they're set first and 10 carry here for Montgomery and he will get this to the end zone for a Detroit touchdown the Lions stretch their lead to a three-score Advantage David Montgomery with a touchdown so great work by the running back there Brock he saw a little bit of space took advantage and he took it all the way for six so good Kate you'll hear running back coaches say this slow to and then explode through and that's exactly what he did slow to the hole but explodes for the touchdown baits now for the point [Applause] after and that one no good he M hit it on the extra point [Applause] fox now to kick this one away here's a return from the seven and a decent return ends as they bring him down inside the 30 now La getting it offense all set to go they're running out of time to get this game into a more manageable spot a three-score deficit and we're in quarter number three offense ready to begin this drive first and [Applause] 10 shotgun sna to Safford he's got the hook up to Atwell and he'll push this up field and earn them a new set of downs I know the combine tries to test everything it possibly can physically but I don't know how youest courage at the combine because there's nobody defending you nobody wants to hit you but that was the epitome of courage to make that in cut and make the catch Safford now on first down his pass caught by NCA and that tackle stops him after a solid game I feel so bad I really do and I don't mean this sarcastically I feel bad for these guys in coverage I don't know how you defend some of these players today cuz they get that drag route they get one step inside of you well there's very little you can do other than make the [Applause] tackle working from the gun here's Stafford falls to the ground out left incomplete he was looking for Cooper C and it'll be third five coming up that is normally a gimme for this offense these short throws but the defense well they had just enough influence on that play to force the incompletion so after that prior incompletion we've got third [Applause] down now Stafford again that's caught for the first and he's out of bounds after getting this one to the opposing 45 yd line eight yds on the gain and the drive continues forward you're not going to last long in the National Football League if you don't convert a good chunk of your third Downs nice find there to continue the [Applause] series on first down here's Stafford he had it for a moment but a great defensive play to jar it Loose incomplete I think that was a throw Kate that just came a little bit too late what it did is it gave that def it's time to come up and deliver a pop and knock the ball loose before he could secure it bully no dice on that prior pass here's second [Applause] down Stafford from the gun able to find Thea here and they make the stop we're going to say at about the 37 yd line you know what I love to say you never go broke taking a profit and you often gain profits when you use your eyes as a quarterback pitch routs was underneath throws often times it's the eyes of the quarterback looking down field and then taking that short completion on third down here's Williams and he's caught behind the line for a loss that's the end of the Third on Sunday night it's not quite over yet but it take a pretty miraculous comeback we've got a three-score game as we get set to start the fourth quarter fourth and three drive on the [Applause] line Stafford going to go on Fourth that's caught beyond the marker how about 19 yards on fourth down and the call to go for it pays off considerably oh I love fourth Downs it just brings out the very best of you get to see how you handle the most pressure and it turns out they handled it pretty darn well and now they'll keep pushing all right I'll set up now first and [Applause] 10 working inside the Red Zone and he will score touchdown Los Angeles Rams get it back to within two possessions a second touchdown through the air for and Brock and independent of the game situation we both know he's going to be happy to leave the field with two of them in one game one touchdown you just might be right time right place but two touchdowns in a game is always about the preparation the separations of the preparation it's doing that work on the practice field and KN before the game and when my number's called I'm going to be there to deliver that one splits the uprights and they're a point closer now on the scoreboard after the touchdown cardal set up to send this away has this at the six and in the end he's able to get it to what to be a touch back it's at the 25 after the return the home teams returning their offense in this running back to the field and they're already up by two scores Brock but another one here would really put this one Out Of Reach Drive starts out with a first and 10 [Applause] complete and he'll get it up to the 44 a 19 yd pickup and that's going to move the chains I think my favorite part was the magic he worked after the catch the way he took the completion and made so much more out of it by adding all the extra yardage [Music] a jolt to start that drive they're up near the 45 yd line on the hand off this is Montgomery and they love to see him fighting forward but he only gets him three you know they got some positive yards that's a good thing but too many plays like that it just is too hard to pile together get first downs gets the better defenses in this league second down now seven to go running this with Montgomery and he's brought down after a nice gain and a first down some backs are easier to tackle than others some well they just choose violence they look for those opportunities to bust through tackles and keep those legs pumping let's see how they attack this first down Brock from the 43 this is Montgomery he still has room inside the 30 and he has it down to the 26 yd line that play good for 17 on a first down offensive coordinators tell us all the time big runs only happen with coordinated efforts great Block in the spring up guys hitting blocks down field and a back who can show off his wheels all right set now first and 10 a toss play Montgomery and he's able to take this down to the Red Zone he's sto at the 17 good rip on first down that brings up second and two well that doesn't net a first down you get yards like that in the Run game you will take it in the NFL after a good pickup they're set up with second and short hand off to Gibbs from the gun and they make the stop as that play reaches the 14 yd line it's a gain of four and that'll be first down Detroit I don't know about you Kate but he sure May getting that first down look really easy a lot easier than it's supposed to be for that defense and I think they'll hear about it when they get to the sidelines they'll come up first and 10 Montgomery now up the middle and he's able to power this forward but they stop him after two yards you know not a ton of yards but still showing that commitment to the ground game a type of run that keeps the defense from loading up in coverage and focusing entirely on that passing game [Applause] we've reached the two-minute warning in Detroit Lions with a 13-point lead eight yds to go let's see how they approach this second down they run here's Montgomery and that's good yardage with a new set of downs now just 4 seconds after our two-minute warning we've got another pause timeout taken by the defense this offense in position now it's first and [Applause] goal no run here it's Montgomery and he's into the end zone touchdown Detroit the Lions have likely locked up the win right there David Montgomery with a touchdown it's what every player who scores a touchdown wants to do Brock he wants to get right back there and put another six on the board I've never met an NFL player content with one Endzone trip in a game nope yeah if you're content you're not making it to this league you get one you're instantly thinking of another and the fortunate few are able to actually deliver on it the Lions offense looks like they're staying out there we got a two-point try coming up fryan forward on the ground and he is hit well behind the line and goes down they're not able to make much of anything on that two-point attempt well I know we normally look for where the breakdown occurred here partner but I think he just made a really good play defensively to get back there yeah you're not just thinking he absolutely did it that Defender was reacting go shoot your shot and end and he's going to bring it up to the 40 yd line before he stopped hurry up offense now is time runs down throwing now on first down Stafford oh he's in trouble here he'll go down the lions got him timeout taken by Los Angeles it's second as they'll meet and decide what to do on this second down that sure ended up being a worst case scenario pass rush just kept coming and coming and bearing down and he was looking for an escape that wasn't there just one of those plays in hindsight Kate where you really got to understand I got to cut bait cut my losses and avoid such a Negative play [Applause] another try following the sack and he finds the seam down the middle complete and they catch up to him but not until he's got a huge gain and a first down Stafford back to throw and wow nearly a pick on that check down a bit lucky that he couldn't hang on to it and it fell incomplete I think if you look up in phase in the defensive encyclopedia that is a picture perfect form of it he was all over him in coverage really forcing the incompletion so after the incompletion here comes the second down call back to throw here Stafford and the Lions get him de now the Rams are going to use their third and final timeout and now they're powerless to stop that clock with a timeout at least Kate I've seen a one-step drop I've seen a three a five a seven some of the boots and play actions get more depth but a 20 step drop that's not going to cut it except for this defense it just adds a whole bunch of negative yards to that [Applause] play Third long now for stord challenging double coverage and it's intercepted terion Arnold has [Applause] it Victory formation here looks like they're going to take a knee on first down and he's is going to take a knee this is situational football at its best there's still some time left to bleed off the clock but the really important thing here is you've got to bleed every second of that clock that you keep lining up to take a KN on second down and they'll kneel this down nothing left to do now Kate celebrate on one side and watch on hopelessly from the other what a hardfought effort to get to this spot and now you can enjoy the
