Washington Huskies vs. Weber State | FULL GAME | Aug 31 ,2024 | NCAA Men's College Football

[Applause] the dogs are [Applause] loose Thursday with ruers now to be a part of the Big 10 for Washington well ever since I wore these colors as these guys are wearing down the football field it's been a fight for respect this team was playing for a national title earlier this year comes back in not even ranked in the top 25 so I know there's a lot of new is around going around college sports but it's a pleasure to be here with the big 10 and more importantly it's a pleasure to Showcase this wonderful University to a national audience well lincol just talked about it Jake this is a team that finished runner up to Michigan last year for National Championship they bring two people back just two but the guys that they brought in have a ton of playing experience yeah that's been the headline all off season is Washington only returns two starters but I think that's a bit deceiving and we could look at just the offensive side of the ball for example Jeremiah Hunter is a new receiver LED Callen receiving last year Jonah Coleman new running back one of the best backs in the country and you replace Michael Pennock with real Will Rogers and I look at Washington as one of the most underrated programs in college football it is a short list of teams that have been to the playoffs twice in a national championship once so yes there is newness but the standard does not change the standard is to be competitive and win a ton of football games let's go downstairs to Brook Fletcher Jed fish a new opportunity for H against Weaver State yeah you know first impression well that's what been has been Jed fish's message to his team leading up to their big 10 debut here tonight you guys touched on the massive turnover fan base here is [Applause] in got new players night game here to open up ready to kick it away for the Huskies and off we go lence Butler is back to return he'll take a knee and we will see the Weaver State off defense go to work preseason number 22 in the FCS their quarterback Richi Munoz finished on such a high not last year and leads what is a young team but he did get value valuable experience late last season like you said Jeff played in the final five games helping them win their final three asked coach Mickey Manel what he likes so much about him he didn't hesitate said one he's a competitor but more importantly takes care of the football pass on first down goes out to the corner incomplete second down and 10 starting lineup for Weber State start with deont Bankston they really like this junior out of Katy Texas and they've got a bunch of skill guys on the edge that if they get in space it can be a problem right you mentioned the RPO system that's the big piece of this and you look at number 14 Jacob Sharp a guy that they want to get the balls into the hands early talk about nness well this is a brand new offensive line this was effectively their second unit last year now they're getting their chance to start Bankston tail back he gets it on second and 10 over the right tackle big gain and he's near a first down pick up of nine brings up third down and short and that's that big play ability you talk about coming out of the backfield Jake you talk about that Bankston has that ability that Breakaway speed and it was a nice hole that the offensive line opened up against that husky defense ran behind Zoom Espin the 68 sophomore out of Southern California third down and one bankson gets the give runs into a wall of purple it'll depend on the spot looks like they've got the first down so they pick up a first down and move the chains the defensive alignment for Steve bellich in his first year in Seattle get a couple of guys coming back the ward brothers and Zack dery I mean he is a monster that finally gets an opportunity on that front line yeah they're excited about him they're really excited about this entire D line of course it is new but Jed feels coach head coach jet fish feels they're too deep at every single position sling it out to the outside catch made by jayen recard and picks up four on first down look to see this tonight guys if that's a theme out out of Weaver State when they want to go trips especially in the bounds rate the way it stresses this defense it takes a would be defensive end Isaiah Ward even though he's listed as outside linebacker puts him into space makes him have to cover or cover screens like that Leber State playing fast trips on the bottom side of your screen little bit of a different look to the field you see how the Huskies are playing trip to the field versus to the boundary the give Bankston has to reverse field he's got a crease and he's going to pick up another wild cat first down right to Midfield awfully close to see if they called it short again haven't given him the first down yet signal yet there no still short just by inches so third down and very short see look at this initial he gets to that 50 yd line and then Buzz down to change the spot that should be a first down no call yet they put cter May the fullback in motion third and short Bankston gets it for sure this time second effort leans forward for a first down for Weber State two for two on third down yeah good good play that time by deshun Lynch making a tackle it looked like there was a hole a crease that was opening up for Bankston that if Lynch didn't make that tackle even though he did get the first down could have been a bigger yard bigger [Music] game one of those big transfers for jetfish fouryear player at sack state in the Big Sky Conference so he knows Weaver State well 65 295 out of fome [Applause] California Bankston right side he's got plenty of room to run and driven out of bounds just outside the 30 yd line Mikel Easton on the stop after a gain of 18 River State's doing some real good things formally there it was Cameron fulan and the safety which ended up being the edge Setter and they're pulling guards in to that that's an advantageous States offensive line and they were able to take advantage of it putting together a nice drive Bankston again gets the carry and runs into a wall again of husky Defenders yeah Jake you typically on that last play that Breakaway play you don't see it having success running into a blitzing safety but that time the Weber State Wildcats did a good job of picking it up and it sprung them for a nice little game Bankston with 35 yds on the ground already I think it's worth mentioning also guys that the starting defensive line has been rotated out this is their second unit that's on this series we're only in we just started the game you want to see a good dose of rotating those guys in and out all night long Adrien Cormier checks into the back field now for Weber State play fake to amuno out to the corner and a drop they had record in space but he could not make the catch third down and long for Weber State second-year head coach Mickey mentle six and 5 last year a program that has been ranked in the preseason for eight consecutive years he has been on the staff at Weaver State for a long time originally in the quarterback room as an offensive coordinator Weaver State putting together a nice drive third and nine Munoz to the edge incomplete and the huskys hold it'll bring up fourth down Fus Dixon on the coverage it started by winning the try from Kyle Thompson kick is up and it is wide right so the Husky D holds we'll see his running back tight end they have stability at the most important position and Jed fish said why he named Will Rogers the starter was ultimately the command he had of this locker room basically finishing each other's senten is by the time this one rolled around tonight that's a good sign give the ball to the belly Jonah Coleman the Arizona transfer he's past the 40 and he's into Weber State territory welcome to husky Nation Jonah Coleman well how about that nice little breakout run as we look at the replay look at Jonah look at the size of that hole that's good blocking downfield of course Jonah breaks that the last tackle before he get knocked out of bounds good job way to start the offense out right gain of 25 on the first play from scribbage broke out of the tackle of trevan trible free safety for Weber State plus side of the field from the [Applause] 44 play clock at five they get it away Coleman again goes right flag down Coleman down the sideline he's gone but the flag is down yeah unfortunately I think this one's going to come back guys what's always what's always difficult for blockers downfield as we look at the call holding for 88 of the offense 10yd penalty for first down going to get the tight end Quinton Moore on the hold on the outside right here and just all play called back but I know he knows better for next G he negated a 44 yd touchdown run from Jonah Coleman Cameron Davis checks in get it to the outside and incomplete he's trying to get it to Denzel Boston second down and 20 here the offensive starters in Lincoln this offensive line they are a patchwork but they're trying to find their way yeah playay particularly close attention to number 75 D'Angelo TTI Ali the reason why is because he's the general of that offensive line now when you watch these guys break the hudle they're going to come to the line of scrimmage there's going to be a lot of pointing because you've got all new members of this offensive line communication is key and D'Angelo is the first one who's calling out number he's calling out assignment to tell who's the offensive line responsibility give up the gut short gain on second down Cameron Davis on the carry picked up three here's the Weber State Defense Braden Wilson is the guy to watch for the Wildcats no doubt about it Braden Wilson is someone and I also want to pay particular attention to number 13 Garrett Beck the linebacker because this is a tackling machine finds himself always around the football and he's a big part of their Blitz package uh so don't be got to find out where number 13 is at all times 64225 the senior Garrett Beck from midfield for Washington empty [Applause] backfield deep drop get it to the outside Boston on the catch and he gets to the 40 39 yd line pick up on 11 third and manageable now for Washington four fourth fourth down oh excuse me without hesitation wide open space to run towards Midfield and pushed out of bounds gain of 11 Carson Bruner knocked him out well when you look downfield you see good coverage you see the sort of slant and go not falling for the double move that's a good job by pry but what you have to remember guys you got to be Lan disciplined look at the hole that opens up over the B Gap the left side of the offensive line Muno just takes it and gets a first down a good job by Weaver State's offensive line too picking up that pressure absolutely Steve belich sent some extra bodies and they handled it with ease which allowed M munes to break open there empty set bringing bodies knocked down second down and 10 well experience they got Weber stayed off schedule [Applause] brought heat on first down go to the outside knock down Zack dery almost had a pick six you remember how I said the Huskies had trouble in that first series playing tricks to the boundary with their saf the defense now when you thr the quarterback and he just Co short of having a pick six reading that little bubble screen good play by derky like just one final against Texas bunch of transfer issues could man he is a Difference Maker on the edge getting loud to dog pound now this place to get rocking guys play clock got to zero and have a 5yd penalty game offense 5yd penalty third down let's go downstairs for Brook Fletcher more on Zack dery yeah you were just talking about his journey here how he sat out last season but his team teammates man talking to them this week they just praise him uh and his roommate Carson Bruner especially saying he's been one of the most impressive guys coming into the season just his resilience and his leadership pushing guys to be the best they can be this defense is better when he's out on the field started his collegiate career at Montana's then ended up going to sou Falls where he actually played football never played at Montana third and 15 dog showing pressure handed off Bankston goes left Edge gets to the 50 yd line brings up fourth down I think that was a classic case Jacob Micky mental saying you know what we're probably not going to be able to convert this first down because of this third down and long against this defense it's been a try so far I don't want to get my quarterback killed so let's just put line up and you know play defense Alonso tatala ended up making the tackle for Washington sets up this punt from Oscar Doyle The Freshman from Brisbane Australia Denzel Boston is back deep for Washington he's standing in his own five good kick fair catch called for and secured at the 8 yd line 42 yd punt Huskies get the ball again he's definitely a general and he's a good player they hurry up up sling it outside in space Giles Jackson trying to get to the edge maybe got to the 9yd line of pickup of one new offensive coordinator in Washington Brennan Carroll son of Pete Carroll comes back with Jed fish he was an Arizona with him time and Tucson these two also coached together back in the early 2010s with Miami so long history between those two Jed fish and Brennan Carroll also the offensive line coach you know he's tasked with getting this unit to play as one give goes to Coleman bullying his way across the 10 yd line brings up third down Jake you Coleman is a is a back that I respect a lot of brwy smaller stature not a big long guy but he likes to hit the hole when he gets downhill he's decisive I appreciate his vision more importantly I app appreciate his tenacity as we saw in that little that last play only got about three yards but still was able to make it an impact almost average seven yards a car last year in Arizona also a good catcher out of the back field third and seven 5 1/2 minutes to go in this first quarter Rogers to pass he's got Boston a first down for Washington across the 25 and out to the 29 yd line third down completion a gain of 17 Weber State was trying to bring some pressure there but that is a double-edge short all of a sudden when you pressure like that there's a big gap in the middle of the field we stay right now I didn't mean to cut you off they're calling for the ball they're saying the ball came out no replay not yet the officials are now stopping play may take another look at this referee tonight Francisco varr time out Weaver State we State time the official down on the field was they were arguing with him initially he was quick to say no no no let's move it let's take another look at of here maybe buying a little time does this ball come out please reset the game clock to 5 minutes 3 seconds 5503 Dean blandino is out in La Dean what you see there so what we're looking at here did the officials rule progress or did they rule down if they rule down it is reviewable it looked like the ball was coming loose just tough to tell if the runner was down prior to that and uh they're going to let the play Stand and we're going to move on here thanks so much Dean blandino long day at college football it goes to Coleman over the left side you were just talking about how Compact and decisive he is I mean 59 230 he's a battery like a battering ram right no doubt and his running back coach Scotty Graham said there's a a lot of ice cream on that cone to describe my like that's that's pretty accurate Man true story true story but I but I've always appreciate running backs that were decisive especially in the zone scheme because you're you're blocking an angle as you know Jake and when you get downhill there are times you're going to be able to cut back but you have to be decisive you can't be shifting back in the back field a lot Coleman to the sideline Cameron Davis Senior missed off last year is in Roger Sprints right Boston with another catch a first down for Washington brought down just outs inside the 40 yd line so we're talking to Jed fish and we're saying all right you got all these new weapons who do you got to get involved and you know Denzel Boston came up and he said yeah I think Denzel had five catches on the season last year I would be disappointed if he didn't have five tonight and already you could see heavily involved in this game plan Will Rogers very comfortable throwing it number 12's way he's already got three catches on the night very heavily involved in this passing attack for Washington hand off left side Dropped In The Back Field Cameron Davis is brought down there's Braden Wilson I told you to watch out for him he too has a tackling machine that plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage has been very nice for very good for the Wildcats as I said 16 and half tackles for loss last season he starts this season with one right there 65 255 the junior Braden Wilson second down and [Applause] 12 Rogers has it knocked down third down and 12 learning going forward Rogers playing with this offensive line and has to create a little bit more separation to create a passing Lane he's not a small quarterback by any standard 62 but the fact is is those big guys in front of him especially when you're playing with tackles that are listed at 67 68 you've got to create your own natural passing there third and long for Washington [Applause] Rogers to the outside great Pursuit a tackle in space isan Daniels a loss of two on Third and 12 and here comes the punting unit that's just textbook reading the route Concepts he's out there in no man's land way out on the edge just waiting waiting and then the ball gets dumped out there to the flat look at him trigger come down and make a great form tackle he didn't make that one def coordinators Grant Duff and Joe Dale told us earlier in the week they needed to fly to the ball they were flying there Jack mallister to punt it away good Boot and it's out of bounds inside the 15 yd line 50yd kick from the junior Jack mallister back in a bit to Seattle connections [Applause] Galore Adrien Cormier starts in in the back field get it to the outside Jacob Sharp makes the catch driven out of bounds after a very short gain here's Steve bich his defense has been pretty good since that initial Drive where Bankston ran loose it's a relationship business too right jetfish brings over his entire offensive staff from Arizona including Brendan Carroll worked with Steve belich and Bill bich during his time in New England jet his coached under some Elite coaches throughout his time and I just think about the feeling these players must have having Bill and Pete Carroll on campus and walking around practice certainly valuable second down give it again to Cormier across the 20 pushing forward still on to the 25 yd line and a first down for reer State well good fight that time by Cormier coming up and and getting what he could and more importantly just pushing the pile because it didn't look like there was much there initially Jak yeah well just you look at Richie munz stats at this point he's two for there is nothing through the air right Weber State's having all their success running the football right now so it's just a matter for Washington in this rotating defensive line I love their Lineback they got to find a way to shut down the Run we State's winning that battle in the trenches right now 60 yds rushing so far along that from Bankston Cormier another carry trying to get to the outside and could couldn't get out of the grasp of Sebastian Valdez next Saturday Big 10 tailgate is live from State College set the scene for a full day of football fun begins at 10:00 a.m. eastern 7 Pacific only on the Big 10 Network in the Fox Sports app you know much to your point that you made a while ago a moment ago Jake about Weber State being effective running the football what Washington needs to do is they need to negate those first and second down runs for him in the third and long becomes Advantage defense especially with this crowd here behind the sticks second and 11 almost a one-handed catch by Jacob Sharp good coverage by Elijah Jackson it's just that's an interesting defensive structure there by Steve belich Elijah Jackson's into the boundary one-on-one and there was no safety help at all so mun no pre there he's on the left side of your screen work on one-on-one with sharp there is no safety help showing a lot of trust in Jackson as one of the two returning starters on this entire team and Alonso tatala Carson Bruner played plenty third and 11 bringing heat set up the screen it's busted up there's Bruner oh what a good awareness by Bruner coming from his linebacker spot recognizing in that screen the Husky defensive front was aggressive they were going after Munoz you take a look at him right there just playing he that's his man he knows he's got him following with his eyes slips under the centers block and more importantly gets disrupt that play before he gets started picked up a first down on the first set of [Applause] [Music] plays 5 Seconds To Go in this first quarter Doyle back to punt again fair catch called for Boston secures at the 35 yd line a 41 yd punt huskys on offense when we come back the end of the first across the 40 yd line good run for Jonah Coleman they've had a lot of success Jake they in that first quarter running a lot over that right side of the offensive line a brand new group that's still trying to gel all transfers you know you mention TT at Center you talk about Enoch vami six-year guy from Ohio State and Drew has a party the right tackle is what maybe their best offensive lineman I think they get back to running on that right side of the line Coleman again cuts back got some space still on his feet finally dragged down across the 50 yd line well that guy's a bowling ball well that's why I said the greatest the biggest asset for a quarterback to have is a run game when you talk about a running back like Jonah Coleman not only does he make people missing space with his speed but his power is going to make him not easy to bring down he he runs a no doubt and it's a big reason Jed fish prioritized getting him into this program always good to settle the offense when you have a elite running back like Jonah Coleman Cameron Davis back in the back field fake to him plenty of time Davis all by himself in the flat Davis down the sideline pushed out of bounds inside the 20 well initially Jake it was only a two-man route Davis was in for protection they slid one one way they put Davis on the end nobody's covering him out the flat Will Rogers goes through his progression nobody's open downfield over to your check down it's great to see him back healthy too Jeff right 13 touchdowns back in 2022 missed all last year with an injury man that guy can be a weapon when he's healthy give again to Davis they tried that right side pushing towards the 10 yd line good gain on first down here's tonight's Advanced stat it is sponsored by if. a and pretty simple you out Rush the opponent's pretty good for the Huskies you like that Jed had a great quote you know talking about adjusting to the Big 10 he said to win in this conference you have to win in the trenches that stat really just emphasizes that right and and he's been one of the best passing game coordinators one of the best passing Minds in football but he understands the importance here to win you got to win up front under Center goes Rogers playaction Pass look at inzone incomplete he was looking for Quinton Moore the tight end just a little more touch ain't that right my tight end friend a little more touch on that cor Corner route and when you could hit the back py line just misses him just so just look at that Jake outstretch almost and one that he will never forget in that pack 12 championship game Coleman blown setback Jackson In Motion Jackson gets it right side in inside the 5yd line first down Huskies well good good job that time by the Huskies noticing they had and out they had him out flanked into the boundary you run the Jet Sweep and you allowed yourself to get the first down you run enough for the first down Jackson does but you set yourself up first down and goal right Jake and once again they're not giving up any penetration they're getting a ton of movement making things really easy for this offense Husky's driving flag down inzone touchdown Jonah Coleman was a free play had a Defender still trying to get to the sideline but Jonah Coleman finds the end [Applause] zone legal substitution defense with more than 11 players on the field play as a touchdown first points in the Big 10 for the Huskies well what a nice little run and of course great awareness that time by the Husky offense just take a look right here here's the right side of this offensive line watch them wash this Weber State pressure down look at this the runner pressure bang that's a really great block right there opening things up for Jonah Coleman throw for the point after up and through Washington scratches the score column first and you look at Washington very even with they this huskys program playing football here in udub since 1889 when Washington became a state 64 game unbeaten streak from 1907 to 1917 the longest in division one history 23 consens all Americans 1991 National Champion just how about trying to build what that culture is and how he likes to play football they could get a couple of guys from Arizona to come with them gain of four on first down for Weber State Bankston on the carry Lincoln Kennedy Jake but Jeff leing here Brook Fletcher down on the field a perfect night for football in Seattle now you guys can talk Michigan Washington rivalry stuff we've already duked it out we've already we've already we've already had our our time we've been here for a little while we're on the same team now we're both smiling watching a beautiful Run game on that last drive this is so great so much fun for all of us maiden voyage in the Big 10 conference for Washington give it to the outside again Bankston barrels his way forward for a first down for the wild cats so Lincoln we were watching you from up in the booth I mean it feels like you were ready to go play tackle again reminiscing and it's thinking back a lot of great memories in this Stadium playing on this football field a little bit different for me now but being up here in the booth with you guys but I do remember have a lot of fun memories of Don James leading practice on the field tort running many laps on that field bar R it looked different then and had track around it didn't that's exactly right you did have a track around it that play blown up in the back field tuputala in there loss of three for Weber State all right this is the good stuff look at those Unis and look at the spry Kennedy on the outside that guy owes me money he owes me $5 but yeah there's there's the Avalanche you got to lay on I used to make guys pay there's another one right there number eight pushed it right down serving up pancakes baby absolutely second down and long Munoz Running Out of Time Munoz almost intercepted a couple of huskies ran into one another brussard and Dixon collided I know Munoz wanted to make a play Jeff but here's the thing you cannot do that you cannot have the the coverage good coverage downfield everyone's got their responsibility tight coverage a little bit of Separation coming over but still if you're Moos you cannot do this lot of purple in that shot may have been better suited to throw it away Weaver State's offensive line has done a good job with protection that was that was a coverage pressure yeah let's see if Washington can turn that page and get some organic pressure here see if Steve belich brings pressure on Third and long they bring four Munoz to the outside catch made but well short coverage by Dyson McCutchen the Nickelback there's a flag down yeah holding check out right here on the left side of the offensive line belich bringing preer yep and you just easy hold call T okay 76 of the offense 10yd penalty third down take the penal to make it third and forever that was Kamar house that was rushing little undersized linebacker on number 75 75 freshman yeah that's what we're waiting for right is is in third down can you create that pressure without Steve belich have to sending having to send extra [Applause] people got to imagine a a screen or a draw well it's got to be safe because you're not getting enough separation downfield to really stretch it so you do something that's pretty much safe and again you want to still try to play defense you know change the field position if you can third 23 Washington's having trouble getting lined up right outside Bankston wrapped up still well short of a first down brings up fourth down gain of 11 punting unit will come out again for Weber State they found something there on that off tackle run they they've hit that hole a number of times that's been one of their better plays they ran it twice there on that drive for you know quality winning plays five six seven yards Washington's going to have to do something to adjust to shut that down when you start off in a hole and you get backed up by a penalty it really is a momentum killer and even though you have some things that are working right for you for Weber State it's just a matter of staying ahead of the chain staying ahead of the sticks can't do it when it's set thir 2 Doyle gets it Loose Boston hit just as he made the catch stays on his feet and gets near the Third 30 yd line under nine to play in this first half Washington up seven motivate as Cam Davis over the right side picks up five on first down motivation is so key for everybody it's good to play football with a chip on your shoulder I always use Tom Brady the we all say Tom Brady is the greatest of all time and he says I'm a sixth round pick right he he never lets that go J Coman man you're coming off a year where you average seven yards per carry all conference honors no he still remembers being left out and forgotten about and underrated back earlier in his career pretty balanced offense so far from Washington slip it outside to Giles Jackson slips across the 40 yd line to the 42 and a first down for Washington another safe play for the offense you hand it off to Jonah you run it f the first play and in this one you come back with a little bit of a tunnel screen and still Weber State has have a problem getting the right people on the field playing Tempo cross the middle wide open that's the tight end Moore into Weaver State territory took a big hit still down hope he get [Music] up officials timeout for an injury to the player of the off of the senior 64 257 dad Mark went to Oklahoma State played for the Seahawks here in Seattle took a big hit medical team out on the field Jon Coleman checks in off schedule to start this portion of the drive for Washington play pass there's Bailey again in the back field get it out to [Applause] Coleman turn something out of nothing there nice play by Will Rogers to get it to his Outlet you know as I mentioned guys the Huskies are also rotating their offensive line you've got one consistent so far D'Angelo T tati Lee was has been there um as their Center but they have rotated their tackles Drew who started on the right side in the beginning of the game is now playing left tackle he's struggling a little bit this series I think you got two downs here too if you can get a couple yards right that same situation we saw earlier Rogers third and 10 almost [Music] intercepted Hansen came in got his hands on the football third down and 10 and here comes the punting unit they're just trying to run this dig route in Hansen sitting there as the safety of the mdle watch him flash right there on the screen know Will Will Rogers lot on the ground from Weaver State they've not had the passing game going at all go to the ground again and it's up to the 15 yline Cormier on the carry well Tuesday can't miss top 10 women's volleyball matchup [Applause] pick up of three on first down second and seven for Weaver State Cormier again in the back field Bankston has been their best offensive product Cormier gets it trying to get to the outside to patala right there to bring him back in and bring him down and a flag comes in late I think they only to get a face mask here against Jacob bandes hard to argue that one if the the helmet comes exactly [Music] right personal foul face Mas 55 of the defense 15 y call will be added to the end of the play with an automatic first down right there yeah but you Boo for your team anyways even when the helmet comes off you Boo for your team anyways right got to work the officials been waiting all year to have a chance to boo some calls that's that's definitely the correct call though these fans haven't had a game here at home since the end of November last year Thanksgiving week the apple cup against Washington State a thriller Munoz to the outside knocked Away Great play by Thaddius Dixon great recovery great recovery and it's an Essence where he's running the route for the receiver watch Dixon number nine and as he sees the out right he breaks down and he covers ground quickly be out on time to have a good chance at it fadus Dixon did exactly what he's supposed to do if it's late cannot allow a catch mun's two for 11 now he's flushed in trouble looking for room tuputala wraps him up tuni on the stop two this was a quarterback draw all the way this was a planned quarterback draw watch the coverage you see that they're not even running routs so this was a run play that's what tells me that it's a quarterback draw Muno had nowhere to go and this is good job by the hussies defensive front they ran a little bit of a stun up there to confuse the offensive lineman then had nowhere to go with the football Bandz once again right an incomplete was looking for Ken KNE his tight end the passing game has not found anything for Weber State Quinton Moore who left this game on the last drive just coming out of the tent that is a very good sign just that he's out of the tent putting a little weight on his [Music] [Applause] leg a lot of pain but at least he's upright there's a there's a lot of pride in these young men when put on these uniforms Washington number 12 is now playing is number 33 Doyle to kick it away another punt Eber stay over for the last four on third down Boston on the return he gets leveled at the 27 yd line we'll be back in 15 [Music] seconds doesn't run much but he can feel pressure and move up in the pocket good awareness as you see Rogers FS the pressure comes in just a little bit of a shovel pass if you will to Davis it's effective second and two Rogers Pass caught first down Huskies Boston again Rogers and Boston are going to work out their chemistry for some time but this little slant route as you saw Jake little bit behind Boston he had to turn slow down put it on his upfield shoulder and allow him to run after the catch especially when there's no one in the hole that's his guy right now no doubt you know if we're wondering who the the wide receiver one is he he's looked Boston's way a lot all night long five catches all of last season for Denzel Boston he's got four already in the game double fake Rogers Ed Zone caught touchdown Washington first career catch for Decker to graph and it goes for six oh you got to like the miscommunication not miscommunication misdirection if you will got a little bit of a Jet Sweep action a little bit of a fold over reverse action you come off a play action wild cats are totally full as the grab steps out of the back field for for the will route winds up in the end zone you got to like that right Jake I always love when the tight end score no doubt I knew you would I knew you would I asked you know I played for jet I'm like tell me about these tight ends so we got a good one young one Decker de graph Big Time touchdown [Applause] there 33 yd touchdown to Decker de graph Rogers with four for four to four different receivers de graph his first catch in college goes for six gross going bring it out Clarence Butler on the return he's across the 20 and a flag down [Applause] [Music] good thir in return holding for 43 the return team 10yd penalty and first and 10 for Reaver State all right Jake go to work your drawing skills well let's look at this because this is what makes jet fist such a great play caller they've been running this boot action we talked about this this Jet Sweep we talked about getting Denzel Boston involved but they want to have the graph pretend to a little too much in my opinion guys you first down run you get seven six seven yards that's not good that's that doesn't resonate well with me and I'm sure it doesn't with Steve belich he that's a point of it number two and a half to play remember new to college football this year a two-minute timeout got to wonder if you can force a negative play here if Washington wants to sneak a timeout in before that two-minute timeout 1 second difference between that game clock and the play clock goes [Applause] bankon and there is our two-minute timeout in Seattle third down and three for Weber State we only come back to see Bankston in the backfield and we're going to get a false start that's going to be on KN the tight end false start 45 of the offense 5yd penalty still third down this Washington defense they're trying to get themselves stopping themselves on the feet and backing up and out to five yards Jake the penalties have killed we Absolut that's a credit to the crowd again right yeah true story over the middle caught first down Weaver State ton Evans up the middle 26 yds on Third and eight car curious what Mel a a the Nickelback was thinking right now huskies are trying to get new players on the field little little confusion out there in the secondary first play of 20 plus yards for Weber State and a great form Tackle by Jordan Shaw in space good recognition also good film study that time when you look at it Jake when you talk about this husky defense they are reading what the Weber State wild cats are giving them Washington takes a timeout step aside for 30 defense flying around no doubt about a great recognition on that last little RPO screen what Weber State is trying to do if Washington is not going to have enough guys to go out there they're going to block for a screen a bubble screen of that time the corner made a great play of just shooting the Gap second and 13 Munoz pressure flush to the right threw it away this should be grounding they should drop the flag that should be grounding there's no one in the area Sebastian Valdez had the pressure quarterback was out the pocket out of the pocket 52 tuni was able to win watch this right here bang with a nice spin move over the guard this is kind of that Steve belich package you're bringing in X it's a multi- defensive end package nice spin move there no doubt third and 13 just converted a third down and eight can they do it again and move the chains 130 to go play clock winding down at two didn't get it off Flags come in late it'll be the second delay for Weber State prior to the expiration of the play clock timeout Weber wber State just in the nick of time called their timeout steep aside again for 30 [Music] seconds hand off Bankston left side nowhere near gain of just two dery on the stop now Washington should use a timeout and final time out of the half Washington 30 seconds third and final timeout for Washington again 30 [Music] seconds much success with Bankston offensively where do you go in the second half if you're Weber State Doyle to kick it away again Boston on the fair catch inside the 20 yd line and Washington's offense one final opportunity hopefully with 11 16 to go in this first half so go ahead go ahead they're in the they're going to operate that two-minute package and just a few drives ago remember they got will they were running that hurry up type system right they they got that those 10 12 plays that they've been practicing all spring all summer all fall now you get a game rep now you get to do it against a brand new opponent new looks versus a new defense it's a great situational package for Will Rogers here in this offense especially everyone getting to know no timeouts you got plenty of time and you think about it no it says 116 on the clock but you can utilize your entire field the clock will stop after a first down Mark Rogers Sprints right and he brought down Angel King on the sack from the strong safety position that's what you can't do so I thought he had Coleman too well I mean you either pulled a trigger and throw the football or throw it away once you're out of the pocket but you can't take a sack yeah now now now it looks like you're just is going to take it in locker room that first first down that first play is so CRI get especially when you're backed up yeah when you're backed up it has to be remember Washington's going to get that second half kick give it to Coleman Andross the 20 yd Line pass the original line of scrimmage third down and long after the gain of 12 this he is fun to watch man that guy is running angry I would it would not be fun tackling give it again Coleman Cuts right on his feet first down [Applause] Washington now you go well now now you go I mean you got nothing to right you got nothing to lose 16 seconds you can take a shot he's going to just clock the ball clock with 14 seconds left remember the clock stops on the first down inside 2 minutes bought himself a couple of seconds got a long way to go to get to I guess no I guess no one gave the the notice to Coleman that we're just going to take a KN take like he's got something to prove man he get he gets the ball he's got something to prove he's picked up 22 yds on backto back plays Rogers steps up Rogers going to run with it he's going to be brought down picks up a couple of yards but that is going to end the first half Washington 14 to nothing saw some really good running from Jonah Coleman Rogers did enough passing the football it's been a theme all day across the country where teams the the favorite in these games has taken time to settle in I think that's the ground plus a score at [Music] halftime heard him talk about Quinton Moore out for the rest of the wall game as we were heading to halftime here for Brook Fletcher on that in just a moment too May State kicks it off [Music] returnable up pass to 20 flag flies pass the 30 yd line but there is a flag all the way back at the 20 yd line that was Keith Reynolds on the return 70 yards but will it stand oh I'm just as impressed with the kicker Kyle Thompson for state did a good job at saving the touchdown even though there's a penalty back there likely to back up the Huskies start this drive Reynold showing off his wheels during the return Block in the back return team number 82 will be forced 10 yds from spot of the foul first and 10 for Washington right there is that got be one of those 22 is either that Davis it should have been May might have been Davis not 82 I think you're right Jake pick one there was two of them yeah cost them 65 yds in field position they set themselves up at the 10 yd line that's been a theme today and maybe that's just game one new staff new team you know the first drive they have a touchdown off the board from a holding they've had a few penalties on both sides of the ball that have really just taken away that the timing of it taking away big explosive plays team that's still getting annoy each other something we talked about at the beginning of the broadcast Jonah Coleman gets it on first down 74 rush yards of the first half gets to the outside tight ropes near the 20 ydd line and close to a first down let's go downstairs to Brook Fletcher yeah I talked to offensive coordinator Brenan Carroll coming out of the half and he gave me some positives and negatives he saw from the offense in the first half let's start with the negatives he said we have to eliminate those negative plays there we are just giving up too much yardage especially when it comes to penalties we got to clean that up but a positive talk about those guys up front you mentioned Jake Jonah Coleman the game that he's had the up front opening up some opportunities for that run game there he said the communication the attitude has been so good expect some guys to move around there also Quinton Moore he is out for the remainder of the game thanks so much Brooke we get a first down carry Jonah Coleman again out in the loose to the 35 yd line first 10 now 15 guys did you see his vision on the last play you once we see the replay watch Jonah's Vision as he's coming through the hole he's going to a jump stop here and cut back that is cannot be taught that is Instinct that is aggression and more importantly that is explosiveness as he darted through that hole once it was there he's such a great balance I mean at 230 lbs he can run right through your chest but he's got such great bounce and feel getting to those holes as well averaging 9.9 yds per carry back to pass Rogers going up top missed his man was looking for Giles Jackson excuse me looking for Jeremiah Hunter watch this offensive line unit really come together in this second half opening a hole part of the Zone scheme is you block an area and you just have to displace your man only 6 in doesn't have to be a great block but you have to hold up allow your running back to exactly what Coleman did on that last play great read of the offensive line in front of him great Little Bend back this is that original formation of the five with f solo at left tackle Rogers again across the middle catch made that's Giles Jackson and he's going to be a yard short of a first down gain of nine well fallos solo you mentioned and was lucky on that last play didn't call for a holding grabbed the defensive end of the Wildcat around his shoulder right in front the up but they didn't call it so it's a good block it's not called it's a good block as long as they didn't call it right that's exactly right that's a good block third and one Coleman the back Coleman gets it up the middle of first down and he's over the 100 yd Mark 102 yds for Coleman on the ground boy Jake you talk about running with something to prove this young man is running with a chip on his shoulder he's running angry as you mentioned and it is definitely bold well for this Washington offense that is sputtered at times with the passing game Will Rogers but they can rely the fact this offensive line is getting good push the line of scrimmage you got number one and number 22 they replac them right now in the back field it's Cameron Davis back there next to Rogers bubble screen to the outside Jackson again balls out it looked like it jumped on it pick up of five Giles Jackson is perfect for what jetfish wants to do offensively just talking about getting the ball in playmaker hands out in space he's a speedy dangerous guy Davis again stays on his feet stays low and moves forward for a first [Applause] [Music] down see if this ball comes out Jackson stay our blocks for a certain amount of time without you know putting yourself in Jeopardy and getting a penalty and it's just rewarding when you see that it's working with such such precision nice back shoulder throw to Giles Jackson that was a beauty from Rogers man he couldn't have hand delivered that much better just look at this and and this is this is Will Rogers one thing he does about as good as anybody his big strength his accuracy and ball placement we talk about striping the helmet of the defender there starting on the right hash throwing that all the way out to the left side of the field that was a freaking Dart and for jayen Rock who was the defensive back in coverage there you couldn't have played it any better no I mean you could not play any better but that's the effect of of the back shoulder throw Rogers over 200 yds Jackson with six catches up the middle Cameron Davis halfway to a first down one key in this run game too you notice how that was a real slow developing play your wait Cameron Davis waiting but no penetration by the offensive line no one's getting knocked back they're working that zone scheme like you said Lincoln work in lateral lateral lateral and then whether it's Davis or homean waiting for a hole to open both backs are decisive if we get a chance to see the replay I'll point out something that TT did it good job I think we might see that replay Lincoln I want to see put up to Coleman and he may have got one all right what are you see pay particular attention to number 75 your Center in the center of your screen that there's the AL now you see him pulling around now look now now you clean out that's what you do you pull around the horn and you clean up you open up the door for Davis to run through that's what the patience of the running back pays off when you have the big boys coming around they become your lead blockers that's effective offensive line play swabbing ribs absolutely on the way through the absolutely I know why you like him so much he's got your number on what else that's TT le e in the middle of that offensive line now he get to the outside Jackson down to the 5 yd line first and goal old dogs how about Jackson's reaction once he caught the football he was expecting somebody from waver state to be right there kind of turned around like oh wait I'm wide open okay let me make a move good job by that young man know good eff awareness by Will Rogers noticing that there was he was uncovered coming out of Back Field get him the football early drive that started at Their Own 10yd [Music] Line hand off Coleman up the middle in touchdown his second of the night and who did he run over about I'm just saying there's a point with all this the entire offensive line is doing a great job it's good 21 nothing a 90 yd drive that chewed up over six with a seam a flag comes out just across the 35 yd line check on the laundry another penalty on a kick return holding number 46 of the return team 10yd penalty from his father foul the first and 10 State tonight's Quick Clips brought to you by Sport Clips cple couple of touchdowns from Jonah Coleman in his husky debut his running back coach Scotty Graham said there's a lot of ice cream on that cone man that is a thick strong running back but those are the touchdowns there's been a few big time bounce backs where he starts to one side of the field and cuts it all the way back he's done some really special things [Applause] tonight bon in the back field and Muno had a really tough first half he's in trouble too be Tal got to his feet bounced it in the dirt going to be incomplete have they ruled it incomplete or they ruled it as a fumble because the side judge went back to spot the football we're playing on the field incomplete forward that's what I was thinking yeah second down I was just thinking the way they were spotting is that it was a completion it is definitely coming forward that's forward pass forward and a skip to record exactly there's been nowhere to go with the football downfield the entire game credit to husky defense for recognizing the RP and taking those little little screens away from him give the ball to bankson and he goes nowhere third down and nine after a gain of one it goes back to my point earlier guys about wer State trying to stay ahead of the sticks if you're going to call that play to open up a drive and you come with nothing then the huskys no you're going to run the football on the second play and they did a good job at timing the offensive line and not giving up any penetration forcing a third down the long we talked about this at the top of the broadcast you got all season to get ready for your first five seven plays scripted after the game started to go here's defont no big no big bodies those are all linebackers at the line of scrimmage there [Applause] pressure up the middle incomplete another stand he was trying to get it to his tight end ke need yeah Jake you pointed that out with circling that we we called that on my day we called that the NASCAR package and what it consists of is usually when you have either Premier rushers or linebackers because you know you want to get the quickness of rushing quarterback you're not really worried about the run and that's why Washington substituted the way they do now those guys are able to run quicker games when you have linebackers and defensive ends Edge rushers like Washington has you can generate pressure with your front four and it's only linebackers that are on the line of scrimmage saying NASCAR lot of speed on the field movement a little bit untraditional Boston going to return it slipped one can't slip the next Tribble on the down pushes ahead for four and for Jed fish who has been everywhere it feels like nowhere for more than 4 years but he credits Steve sper for being the influence in his career he goes I don't exist in the coaching world without Steve Spurrier but look at the list of guys that he has coached under in his tenure get to take a little bit of something from every single one of those and make it his own and look he turned around an Arizona program that wasn't accustomed to winning and certainly not winning at the level they did last year R's in trouble brought down again Amari Bailey on the sack he came free you understand Jake and Jeff that they wanted to look the hussies came up with a check with me system they're going to take a chance on throwing play action but you got to block the line of scrimmage got to block the line of scrimmage they they were trying to run a a a unique perspect uh protection there F solo the left tackle blocked down and then the center watch TT Ali right here try to spin out real late yeah we call that popping but he's popping for the extra guy they still brought another one in there was a full out Blitz by by the Wildcats they wanted to take the run away loss of 10 Rogers screen game out to Coleman Coleman up the middle still on his feet near a first down and a flag comes in late it might be either a face mask or a horse collar I think this is going to add on and give them an automatic first down but what a sheer determination what Shear determination by Coleman that time he makes this all on his own of course he has screen blockers out in front him give them credit as well but this was just a will not to be brought down Jake yeah his ability to change direction on a dime yeah during the Run personal foul horse caller tackle 35 of the defense 15yd penalty will being forced from the end of the play with the not man he's so fast so explosive you talk about all the space there lincol now now watch this put this for bang right there bang his whole moment everything looks like he's going forward and then without missing a beat bang bang feet in the ground and he's changing direction and he's not easy to bring down once you make contact that's what Bailey is complaining about I had a horse Color him there's no other way I could have tackled him right grab that name plate and brought him down after the sack from Bailey gets the 15yd penalty Rogers lets it Fly he's got a man Jackson on the edge inside the 20 yd line another pitch and catch with Jackson this is a great route by Giles Jackson so they're in play action and looks initially like he's going to run the over out watch him eyes come in there bang bang so he's starting inside with a stem selling the over route and then right at the last second puts his left foot in the ground he's out to the sideline where there is no one great scheme great execution really nice explosive play there for the Huskies yeah good awareness by Rogers recognizing at 101 coverage and real realizing that Jackson was going to go out rather than in as you mentioned played it through it to a spot and was able to get a completion getting close to 100yd game eight catches 93 yds for Giles Jackson Rogers to the outside he's got Jackson again ninth catch slips one and then brought down by three Wildcats let's go downstairs to Brook Fletcher more on jetfish and Steve sper yeah Jee you know you were talking about Steve sper and how he was just a mentor and you know Jed fish said he wouldn't be where he is if it wasn't for Steve sper and actually when he took the job here at Washington he gave him some really great advice he said when you have an opportunity don't give up on why you got the opportunity he told him that also when he got the job at Arizona there but you know Jed he was talking to me and Coach fish about just how he's evolved as a coach and he just talked about the confidence he feels here he's already proven what he's been able to do now we can just focus on the guys and just really build off a back Jon Coleman determination down to the one you can't teach that you can't teach that thanks for that great exer Brooke but you cannot teach that guys that sense of determination that sense of presence when you have your opportunity shining your best he is literally carrying Defenders as he's walking to the end zone he's already got two touchdowns see if they give him the rock here and try and make it a hat trick you have to right no without a doubt without a doubt tight formation up front give it to Coleman full head steam into the end zone without a doubt three for joona Coleman in his husky debut Jake they brought in short motion to constrict the formation if you will the wide receiver comes in and he becomes another additional blocker but there's a point in time when you look at number one in the back field and say you know what you don't really need that many blockers cuz I know you're going to make the right choice and you're going to carry people in the end zone that's exactly what you did on that last play [Applause] talk about running behind your shoulder pads right get that that forward [Applause] lean oh welcome to the Big 10 yeah they're going to be fine Big 10 loves to run the football right going 28 nothing Washington Jonah Coleman he is a thoroughbred horse good luck bringing him down Butler on the return from the three Butler couple of good returns for him tonight finally brought down experience as you kind of outnumber the wouldbe Defenders but what Washington does well and Dixon did a good job on that last play playing the corner they do have their big guys their Corners that can tackle in space and that's something that's Aid at this defense it's going to be play paid big huge dividend moving forward pressure coming from the edge slings it across the catch made by Jaden thrower for a first down for Weber State continue that point too Lincoln I mean we just asked Steve belich when you turn on the film Sunday what do you hope you see and he said hey we just want to tackle well we just want to do our fundamentals well and really for the most part they're passing that test with flying colors tonight Butler again trying to get the edge tala able to get the initial contact on you see the speed from tatala being able to come off of that block and and and really you know Corral the running back before it became too too overwhelming and got got to the perimeter should have been a bigger game Jaden Wayne cleaned it up on the other side second and six Muno sidearm throw almost intercepted here comes a flag late Ephesians price sock hav't called his name very much may have just drawn a flag well if you're a corner that's what you want you don't want to call it a name you want to be that shutout guy but they're going to get him interference for seven of the defense penalty is a first down at the spot of the foul pry was was a little bit handsy on that last play especially when the ball was in the air and that's why the penalty came out he's he's so long the length for at 6'4 some of the longest arms I've seen doesn't does need to do it it's a small thing in in insignificant in this game screen ripped up we just had him on to tackle Jaden Wayne able to get his paws on that one knock it down he's been everywhere on this drive huh yes he has you know part of that RPO action from Weaver State is when the quarterback is reading the defensive end or his read he also looking at the outside corner on his receiver if the corner is playing off he throws a slant route that's also part of the RPO and in that case where into play action you're hoping to get your tight end on a little bit of a the slide route or drag route underneath good defense by the Huskies second down and 10 for [Applause] mun throw it outside Price sck He inbounds no out of [Applause] bounds that's what a great quarterback has to do without doubt show it to me once don't try me again that's the exact same play he just got a pass interference on this time and great position gets his head around and yeah out yeah but just just look at the [Applause] patient to the outside knocked away Dyson [Applause] McCutchen well to be fair you know to Weber State it's hard to get anything going when you don't have any separation amongst your receivers and this is tight coverage you can't get any tighter than that and still be legal the the secondary extremely deep they're full of talent and it's such a key element of the Steve bich defense they play a 425 there's going to be extra DBS on this field they ask a lot of them we've highlighted the tackling we've highlighted the coverage and now they'll be tested once again on Fourth and allall fourth and 10 play clock winding down and they call a timeout before think they were running out of time Weaver State I think the play clock was gone down it's the second time that Weaver State has almost had a play clock violation taking a quick timeout in Washington third quarter maybe bringing back that death throw defense from 10 years ago from this Washington team Ste belich Squad they've done a great job we walked into that coach's meeting and he said when I first came here and I looked at my defensive backs I saw size that I didn't see in the NFL true story he said his tallest Corner in New England was 5'10 Ephesians priz is is 6'4 y he looked at him me went I like this this is good fourth and 10 for Weber State Munoz gets it out of his hands Cor forier for a first down broken coverage yep just the second converted third down since the first quarter pick up of 16 on that third down that that that is a broken coverage that has got to be without a doubt it wasn't a blitz it was a game they only sent four [Applause] right sidearm throw to the outside to thrower thrower inside the 15 yd line and Weber with some momentum you look you see corer just slips out Cormier just slips out of the back field doesn't block after he picks up the season there's no Blitz but this is they've got a something now on this drive using that RP in the last play Munoz going end zone incomplete trying to pick on price sock he wants none of it that's not where I throw the ball well I mean here's the thing you want to try the one-on-one coverage because you're a quarterback who's hoping to make a big play I I get it what he's doing he did the same thing down with the slant route on the other side um to to get themselves in this position the fact is that pry was playing much tighter coverage but on that and that's when that play is taken away sharp he's trying to Sharp As 6'1 which is good size right but this is this is why pry is special he's 6'4 with long arms look how far Dixon is playing off the slot though that worries me against the SL PR coverage of the outside they hand it off Cormier brought down from behind gain of two they go back to their bread and butter that they've had success with earlier running off to that right side but trying to hope that you know Washington has done a better job since that those first two drives is slowing that play Down Red Zone trip for Weaver State now you know you're in four four down territory guys there's no doubt about it they already went for it on fourth down on this drive we're going to go for it again they'll come up in on this one unless you want to spoil the shut out which some yeah yeah I mean if not if anything you're breeding confidence and showing showing how your offense can perform in the Red Zone 11th play of this [Applause] drive incomplete fourth down decision time coverage by thus Dixon just again to to highlight the the discipline and the technique watch this whip route right here Fus Dixon just he's almost waiting on it right he he's he didn't even bite on the underneath route just waiting on the whip route Triggers on it there's just been no space to throw the ball for Weber State I'm actually surprised that Munos didn't just throw it before he snapped back out to go outside just throw it to him right there that's when it was because you be it would be more of a hitch or stop route but Muno wanted to hold on the football wait for the whip route to happen that allowed Dixon to recover Kyle Thompson from 28 yds kick is up and good the shut out is gone Weaver State gets that the huskys are so high on is Adam Muhammad but Dean Williams a guy who threw for over 10,000 pass uh 10,000 passing yards 93 touchdowns only had 12 picks but he is a freak of an athlete and he was committed to Jed fish to go to Arizona part of a a larger class that Jed was Jed was able to flip to then bring here to Washington and and you mentioned J his eyes lighting up at Arizona consistently top five top 10 passing attacks it's an easy sell for quarterbacks to want to come play for first Williams back to pass slips out of attack slips out of another still on his feet positive yardage for Deon Williams you see the athleticism right there well you see the speed able to turn that corner I mean the fact is it look like Weber State had them dead to rights have them in the pocket they're blitzing and they bringing in defensive back safeties and here it is look at the speed get around the corner turn the corner and get positive yards Big Time play by deont they said he's one of the fastest on the team oh no doubt no doubt offensive player of the year in high school back in Arizona Basia high school mean that was a gain of five but he ran a quarter mile to get that five Williams bubble screen lots of room still on his feet find ly brought down Denzel Boston fifth catch of the night that was good for 20 yards he has matched his entire season total in catches from last year this drives all about the future there's Deon Williams flashing a hand off to freshman Adam muhamd and throwing the screen out to Denzel Boston who's a sophomore so pretty exciting right now but pretty exciting going starting to cook with some gas since the start of that second quarter five catches for 70 yds two minutes gone by in this fourth quarter Williams steps up still looking downfield look at End Zone incomplete oo wow got dragged down the ball was already gone he's trying to get it to degraph who scored a touchdown earlier today well you really can't fault him for Williams wanted to take a shot Force out of the pocket sees his young tight end running down the field and a little bit of looks like a post route or an angle route deep route Jake and it just cannot connect and of course you hear the booze in the background because the fans wanted to pass interference there's one of them it's a sharp tie though I tell you you know that's a that's a good look I don't see a lot of ties with a big chain around no you don't no he must got an nil deal or something like a chain he's an incoming freshman at Washington he's got a year of Eligibility one of the new guys on the RO exactly and off to muhamed up the cut there goes muhamed still on his feet down to the one I was wondering if his moment momentum had landed on the Wildcat Defender and They Carried him in the end zone it it looked like I think he might have I I I that's what I was questioning and I mean Washington's going to hurry up rather than looking at it but they've been consistent why not hand it to him off hand it off to him again here and the officials are going to come in I'm glad they did because he had a false start the previous ruling of the runner short the goal line is being reviewed Hatchet had jumped out a little early so I'm glad they did whistle the dead 32 yd run does he land on the defender 65 340 out of Los [Applause] Angeles first and goal from the six oh Williams to pass got a guy touchdown Denzel Boston welcome to college football damont Williams he's done a little bit of everything tonight he yes been involved in special teams they target him underneath over top shown some great things after the catch this one is just called putting a little sauce on it baby watch him come in here bam flit in the ground when you lose a DB like that that's one you might throw up on Instagram tomorrow great route 6-y touchdown reception for Denzel Boston the first of his collegiate career so who's going to get that football first for Williams first for Boston give it to the quarterback and say remember I did this but throw me throw me a couple more passes first of many hopefully for that duo Washington starting to pull away in Seattle and then dapping up right there uh Jed fish just you know getting that support from his teammates but also demonstrating that leadership you want to see in your quarterback guys thanks so much Brooke kick that sails through the end zone a touch back 1152 to go in the ball game well next Saturday number two Ohio State takes on Western Michigan in prime time at the Shoe coverage begins 7:30 Eastern 430 to congratulations some high five some dabs doesn't take more than that to show you appreciation take care of the hands to take care of you Bankston gets the carry goes over the right side he's got a lot of space makes it man miss now two now three and finally going to get dragged down by three Huskies at the 40 yd line good run for Bankston 35 y like I was talking all day right that's what like I was talking about there are some holes and I know they're playing a lot some backups but you still have some STS that are in there that you have to clean this up other teams are going there are going to be some they're going to be some teams that are going to look at this and say this is the way to get to this husky defense it's been off that right it's been off tackle to the right totally agree that's where all the the plays have hit see bankson over 100 yds on the ground play five games last year for Weaver State got hurt miss the rest of the season Munoz flushed out Muno is going to go down brought down by a lot I grew up in Columbus Ohio I went to the University of Michigan I mean I've been beaming like Jed fish we talking about the mon Williams being up here in the booth out here in Washington in Big 10 country yeah I'm happy I get to rack up some frequent flyer miles travel east that's always good it's going to be fun to watch the the styles of play too because you look at the Pack 12 Conference and what it used to be it was a lot of offense some of the best offenses in the country came out of the Pack 12 Conference Jed fish had one of those with Arizona how does that gel with what is in the Big 10 well that's why it's so imperative to run the football you know be able to run the football because when you get into that inclement weather back in the East and the November and stuff like that it's going to be hard to throw it the way Washington has has had success over the last couple years they rain football extremely well today nice play flag comes out late it should be [Music] holding holding 59 of the offense penalties declined fourth down fourth down they declin the penalty on Terrence Caldwell The Way Washington has run the football today that holds up in whatever weather you want to play I mean Jed coach fish has done a phenomenal job embracing the newness in the challenge we've talked about him bringing in Bill bich Pete Carroll you know this is this that was an amazing season for the program last year and then all of a sudden it's brand new but he's a smart coach that understands what it takes to win and he's made it an emphas uh made an emphasis saying to win in the Big 10 got to win in the trenches going to get a timeout by Weber State I think it's a to note Jake that you played for jet fish you know what it's like to play in this offense you know what it's like for him to be calling your plays one of the smartest coaches I would say the smartest coach one of the best offensive Minds I've ever pin de board to to Alabama bringing in Jud fish is really impressive runo's on fourth down flushed out going to try and run for it brought down going to be close to a first they may give it to him they will took a monster hit a big hit gain of seven and a first down for Weaver State on Fourth once again I mean nothing downfield fresh set of downs for the [Music] Wildcats to the outside in space tight roping on the sideline he'll call him short of the first down gain of eight and that's the bubble screen they've been trying to activate all day get to the outside and you saw how Munoz pulled it down quickly record was able to get to the outside and sort of sideline ti ti R to sideline Cormier ball was on the turf but it went right into his stomach I think it's interesting back on the jet fish conversation for a moment he took over that Arizona program and his first year they go one and 11 by the time he left they were number 11 in the country with the season ended last year totally different story you come into Washington they played for a national championship last year it's not quote unquote a rebuild but man there are so many new faces it almost is a rebuild and there was similar you look at Washington and Arizona those are two of the top programs I think one and two in ranked wins last year right those principles carry over hand it off to Cormier trying to get to the outside and tackled now the defense is tightening up after giving up that big play to record start on this drive they tightened up on the last couple of plays to force it down to fourth down but to your point you know it it's there's a lot of Pride that is resonating in the stadium and they really do feel like it's slightly disrespected the fact that they weren't in the top 25 and the team that's down another state away is in the top five so let's wait for the penalty here and know finish my point there is no fou the play the contact is legal time out on the field for an injured player so timeout for an injured player we'll continue the conversation when we come back always going to be helped off the field we're going to stick around here but it's the first team ever that played for a national championship and then goes into the next season is unranked it's never happened in this FBS in the playoff situ it's never happened before right and I think you know we're all going to be exposed to a sort of newness when it comes to Sports because there are going to be Washington's not the only one there are a lot of programs that had to rebuild their roster through the transfer and that might be a constant he might not have the gracious the luck of having a guy for his entire career or he might have him for four years and then he transfer to go somewhere else that's just what you want over the head of bankon incomplete he had him that was fourth down so turnover on Downs take a timeout in Seattle talk about intimidation gy Christmas deom Williams back at quarterback playaction pass Williams going to keep it get to the outside and get out of bounds let's take a look at that Washington schedule and what's coming up but you get into the the Big 10 portion of it on September 21st but with another catch it say all college football playoff cont Enders Williams to pass again going to the corner and missed his receiver he's trying to get it to audri Harris another freshman had over a th000 yards in his high school career at Bishop Gorman as I will also add to that you know that schedule Jake and Jeff the fact is I've never never seen a been on a calendar where you had two buys yeah mhm and that's another thing that's changing about college football I know with the extended playoff and stuff like that but two buys and regular season that's unusual can I say one more thing about that schedule sure you can that that's a huge reason I'm excited for the expansion of the Big 10 right there those matchups that schedule we we got a rematch of the national championship there right right in the early part of October Washington punts it away a thrower for a fair catch 601 to play after the 40 yd punt the field [Music] day around the conference that's tonight right after football only on the Big 10 Network and the Fox Sports at Weaver State back on offense Richie Munoz still in this ball [Music] game see if he can put something together towards the tail end of this game and getting ready for week two Bankston wrapped up after a short gain on first down we've alluded to it but the new playoff schedule now 12 teams going into the tournament you extend the season a couple of weeks where do you guys land on on the college football playoff system it all works together cuz we we bring up the Washington schedule this that's the new normal that's it's extremely competitive and in the four playoff you could what one loss you're maybe okay two losses you're out of the conversation no doubt right and three losses it's it's over but now in in this current landscape with a tougher schedule you can afford two maybe even three losses and get into the playoffs so what that also does is for us to talk about the sport there's going to be 25 to 30 teams into November that feel they have a chance to get in that conversation well just it's going to make for fireworks down the stretch of the season you know what what plays in my mind and what what's interesting to see and I'll see how it all plays out is that you know the the power four conferences the top four conferences will have a b okay they Champion but the lower seeds will even have home field games so you can actually have a team with a lesser record entertaining a game you know and and back in you know bad weather places and stuff like that um that is interesting with the playoff and we W to see that Dynamic sort of UNF I think a great part of what this is catch made by Clarence Butler trying to get to the first down brought down maybe a yard short is that you're going to have these schools that are hosting playoff games I think that is awesome for college football no doubt that is college football right like that that's we the the the fan bases the environment the stakes when you think about hosting a playoff game at that point in the season well you know for a long time for me I thought that December was a waste on college football because you had your sort of sporadic bows and I'm not trying to discl know not include them but the fact is is that there was a lot of time where you could be playing critical football like they're going to do in the playoffs now yeah a 3-we time from Thanksgiving until the ball started was wild they pick up a fourth down Weber State's going to move the chains under four to play but now you're going to have those playoff games in your home stadiums you don't have to go somewhere else so if you end up with a I'm just going to throw a team out there Mii South Florida and they have to go play pen State up in State College in December December exactly the Dolphins going to Kanas City or the dolphin you know right beautiful this is football right this is that's what you want give again to the outside slipped one tackle couldn't avoid the other stopped by Anthony Ward is second tackle on this drive but I thought for so long there were a lot of the sort of s quote unquote power schools that were playing the skle game where they would have like a difficult matchup and then you either schedule a cupcake or a buy before your next difficult match up well that takes it out because you don't have to go undefeated in order to be viable well you know off that too this is now an NFL schedule in terms of Big Brand on Big Brand but now you could play 16 weeks this could be a 16 game schedule right so all of a sudden I mean in the NFL you can't you actually it's against the CVA to be in full pads hitting and tackling in season right the that's on the college coaches now to adjust to their team like how do you how do you weigh do we need to bang in practice for hey this is a long season we got to keep our guys fresh you won't you will you'll have to take both NFL and the college will take similar approaches where you'll get a lot of your hitting done in the early part of camp but then you'll taper down as the season goes on cuz you got to keep guys Fresh So this the same model that the NFL has at the training camp and most training camp for NL teams only last a couple weeks anyways first down again for Weber State about 10 seconds until our two-minute timeout in the fourth quarter it's where I feel like Washington has an advantage too get some guys that o I'm being told it's vanilla latte oh yeah yeah you can get the vanilla latte so you tell me something you Chicago guys is is it possible to get a deep dish pizza that later night oh yeah oh yeah you just got to call ahead 45 minutes it takes to C yeah well I'm I'm with that I'm be in the studio all night that's cool oh yeah man you can do that we can make that happen for you we got connections there we go that's what I like to know these are all important things to know as Cormier Runs Out of Bounds after a short game so 155 to go for Weaver State I mean I got to imagine they want to get in the end zone try and get yourself a touchdown see what you can do late got that time all learnable moments for Weber State they've been trying no doubt remember this was a a scoreless game for first 18 minutes of this contest and then finally the dam broke and Jonah Coleman starting to assert himself three touchdowns for Jonah Coleman that's where the schedule I I just think it it does lend itself to help help Washington a little bit right you got to you settle into this game but you also settle into the season we talk about the apple cup week three you got a little bit of a Runway to get to know each other ahead of that game and then then it's time then then then is the real test here for the Huskies third and nine for Weber State handed off and right into the arms Butler on the stop no gain for the nine I've seen the adjustment that I was looking for out of the huskys they went to their what we call a double eagal front where you an essence you have five linemen covered up by five Defenders and that time he had great penetration able to get to get in the back field tackle for loss but this is something that's going that's going to resonate all year with them they've got to show that they can stop the run fourth and nine Munoz sidearm pass and incomplete [Applause] turnover on downs and all Washington has to do is take a couple of knees yeah what's it like for you though come back now part of the Big 10 and you see jet fish and this team compete well we you they showed me on the field earlier it is somewhat of a homecoming when I look at this Stadium when I look at everything that it's been through you know when I first got here the the new facility wasn't built they only had one Crows Nest a TV Camera prop camera wow on the side one Crows Nest and we used to talk talk about it in practice how it is grown you see this beautiful Stadium what how Washington has expanded to keep up with the current climate in college sports and it was it's it's a homecoming it's definitely a homecoming had a lot of fond memories in this great City and if I could could have been a part of Ni I would have probably been one of those fourthe sophomores that never want to leave school I don't know you made out okay first round I no trust me I I didn't do bad but you know but here still I I loved Seattle I I thought about you know even coming and living here after I was done playing hasn't happened cuz I couldn't take the climate from this well we got it on a great weekend though no doubt the weather out here has been phenomenal 75° day haven't seen a cloud for 2 days as Adams to pick up a first down every running back that Washington has run out there has an extreme motor yeah Scotty grant their running back coaches he's going to love watching this film tomorrow no doubt about it that's that's called a standard though right without a doubt without a doubt if you're going to be running back by committee you a want the entire committee to be good that's what they have right my coach would say you don't want to Tiptoe Through the Tulips right none of that out there you guys are running to punish somebody best formation of football right here you're going to snap it one final [Applause] time Jed fish one and0 as the head coach at Washington 15 straight home wins it's the third longest active in the FBS we talked about what the offense would look like fellas great balance 278 yds passing 205 on the ground they will face better
