Episode 1 of BroncoTlk

hello Broncos country and welcome into Bronco talk my name's Jake and I'll be your host for the entire 2024 NFL season first and foremost I just want to launch with letting you guys know a little bit about myself I'm a huge Denver Broncos fan who grew up in Denver until about the age of 11 where I moved to Oregon and I've been a diard Denver Broncos fan my entire life being a resident of Oregon I also am an Oregan Ducks fan so uh even though those that combination doesn't typically go together my huge uge Ducks fan as well as a Denver Broncos fan throughout the 2024 NFL season I just look to offer my my opinion-based analysis on on each game each week each move that's going to happen throughout the entire 2024 NFL season in addition to offering a forum for Denver Broncos fans to come to and speak openly and and give their opinion as well and we can possibly debate or or just speak openly on how the team is going about it seon season and into the offseason and Beyond so uh welcome all all are welcome if you're not always going to agree with me and I'm not always going to agree with you but one thing that we can agree on are uh that we want the Denver Broncos to be successful the big news of the day one of the biggest offseason moves um which I will talk about a couple of offseason moves that I that I personally want to highlight going into the 2024 season but this was probably one of the biggest locking up Pat San for another four years he had he had two two years left on his contract so that was a four-year extension giving us six more years of Patrick ceran uh it's an awesome thing I I don't know that there's anybody within Broncos country that would sneeze at the deal making him the highest paid defensive back in the NFL uh he's getting 77.5 million guaranteed and $96 million contract and it's a it's a beautiful thing we haven't seen lock down Corner uh status like this since akib TB uh about eight years ago so it's it's an awesome thing I'm super excited personally uh he was my number one guy on the draft board in 2021 so uh kudos to me just kidding I don't try to Pat my back too much but also uh personally because my that's my son's favorite player he's uh he's eight years old almost nine years old and and really the only thing that we've had to speak of uh as far as Talent or or you know something that's otherworldly or that next level is passor tan sure there's a there's a lot of great players on the Denver Broncos you look at the Alex Singleton you look at the PJ locks you look at uh javante Williams is my personal favorite uh player on the Denver Broncos you see those players and you know you you start to gravitate towards them but as far as those Next Level all pro pro bold caliber players right now what we have to speak of are about two players probably courland Sutton and pater tan so it's just a wonderful thing bro both for the business side to see the Broncos get this done about about a year at Advance I mean we could be talking about you know ceran going into his last year of his contract and and and being like yeah I'm I'm not gonna I'm GNA hold out you know he doesn't really seem like that type of guy but either way um business is business so we we actually avoided that and following down the same path that the Cowboys and Bengals are currently going through with some of their star players so it's a great thing to see you know Broncos uh Greg Penner and and the owner ship group getting stuff done uh George pton Sean pton all all hands- on Deck I'm sure so it's a wonderful thing um before we get too far down the road like I said I just want to formally introduce myself I'm a die hard Denver Broncos fan that's uh lived in Colorado and and lived in Colorado when we went back to back in 9798 seasons and moved to Oregon and I've been in Oregon for about 20 years but um I think that's uh that gives me a unique perspective to speak on one of the other offseason moves that we did which was the whole bow Knicks I'm just going to wrap it up just bow Knicks just the whole process of evaluating quarterbacks and then once we dra we drafted him drafting him where we drafted him and then the whole quarterback competition and ultimately Shawn pton naming him the starting quarterback as of as of about a week and a half ago but for week one of the NFL season and potentially for the foreseeable future um I definitely think Bo Knicks has all of the talent necessary to be an NFL quarterback when it comes to athleticism as far as arm strength there's a lot of questions when it comes to his arm strength um he might not be on the elite level of arm strength but I definitely think as an orgon Ducks fan being able to see him process and make plays and then go throughout a entire College season a couple of college Seasons within Oregon I think that he has all of the playmaking ability all of the things that are necessary all the intangibles to be a starting caliber quarterback now starting caliber quarterback is far as a far cry from being a an all pro quarterback or a Pro Bowl quarterback or a MVP caliber player and this is where Broncos Country uh we might defer we might not feel the same way and that's because as someone that's watched B Nick's first start being an organ Ducks fan whether I wanted to or not um because he played for Auburn his freshman year and uh they played Oregon on game one of his freshman year bonick and then obviously watching the last couple of Seasons with bonick as an Oregon Ducks uh quarterback he he's got like I said he's got all the skills trates and intangibles but he's also a rookie quarterback that that is going into his first NFL season seeing starting caliber defenses mind you vanilla defenses but the players uh for one series and I know Shawn Payton's absolutely in love with B Knick and B Knick rightfully so like I said the physical traits are there and he's a coach's son he's he's got a strong processor but Sean Payton's been an NFL quarter uh excuse me he's been an NFL coach for ever his scheme is very very complex and the only person I personally uh believe was ready to play quarterback week one for Shawn pyton was Jared stum not that I think that Jarett SDM is going to be a better quarterback on in the long run for the Denver Broncos but I felt if you gave Jared sdam a handful of weeks or a full season to play quarterback as as the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos that also would have given B Knicks a full season to understand all of the terminologies all of the checks all of the line changes everything that you can do in this system and then go out there week one of next season and just take the Reigns and take the World by storm sure there are plenty of rookies that have gone out recently CJ strad and taken the World by storm but um th those instance Es are less likely than we'd like them to be uh I think every every team or every fan base that's drafted a quarterback in the first round saw their quarterback being a you know 10- win 12 win rookie quarterback and then you have this season like the contrast of CJ strad and that's Bryce young Bryce young didn't go out there and tear it up not for lack of talent um not for lack of processing I think think that just the NFL is the next level of football for a reason the NFL is the cream of the crop and when you've got an NFL rookie quarterback going against four defensive minded head coaches that are you know some are calling Mike McDonald the Shawn McVey of the defense he's going to be an young Innovative head coach and it's going to be on the defensive side of the ball compared to sha mcvey's offensive side of the ball you've got Mike Tomlin you've got Todd BS who are not going to be scared to have uh their defense send the kitchen sink at a rookie and then you've got Robert Salah who is relishing in the ability to kind of go for the Gusto with Aaron Rogers this year so if that means exotic blitzes or disguised blitzes or just the scheme in general being disguised it It ultimately breaks down to if you give someone else who's not b Nicks the start which in my case would have been Jared sidm the start and that allows the rookie to grow a little bit before he's handed to Reigns and I ultimately as a Denver Broncos fan as a Oregon Ducks fan want to see B Knicks reach his full potential which is uh a very I mean Super Bowl winning quarterback I think that if Drew Brees can do what Drew Brees did with Shawn pyton that Shawn pyton can do what he wants to do with B Knicks and that's winning a championship one day I don't if that's going to be this year next year or the following year but I know that Shawn pyton could pull the potential out of bck I just think that 2024 with the defense that we have which goes on to my second offseason move or topic uh could forgo some Growing Pains that he doesn't necessarily need to go through if he's just working on the cerebral side of of the game all that said I think that our defense is going to be strong enough to withstand The Growing Pains that Bo Knicks is going to go through and that will allow us to still be successful this year I just don't know if throwing your rookie quarterback out there unnecessarily getting the brunt of of NFL defenses uh is the right move and I still think that bonick has the athleticism and and traits to be successful as a quarterback to hide some of those rookie mistakes and be successful enough this year when it comes to B Nicks I'm just cautiously optimistic very heavy un cautious topic number two the defense I think that this defense is vastly underrated uh when it comes to National regard you've got National pundits some of them uh ranking the Denver Broncos defense as low as number 31 in the league and if you just look at that uh as a full scope um maybe that looks accurate to people that aren't covering the Denver Broncos or paying attention to the Denver Broncos at all but if you look at the Denver Broncos from about week seven through the end of the season the Denver Broncos actually had a very Stout defense when we got healthy we got good and fortunately going into week one of the NFL season we're healthy not to mention some key moves that we made we replaced Josie juel with a guy that I'm extremely high on in Cody Barton I I think Cody Barton has the coverage and run stopping skills to be able to fill the shoes by Josie juules absence and then we lost Justin Simmons and everybody in Broncos country is going to miss 31 don't get me wrong but Brandon Jones seems to be a viable replacement his injury status throughout the offseason throughout training camp throughout preseason does leave questions to be answered as far as his limited playing time last year in Miami when he gets a higher workload we'll see what happens I I I think that he will be a player that is going to rise to the level and fill the shoes of Justin Simmons as well now if you look at all of our pieces that we had at the end of the last season obviously passer tan PS2 was was PS2 and then jquan McMillan and then Alex Singleton as soon as Alex Singleton was given the opportunity to be a starter in Denver has relished the opportunity and has never looked back and I think that Brandon Jones and Cody Barton could both be in that that position this year but Above All The X Factor this year for me the rise and fall the SE the the most important piece of the puzzle because I have confidence that Brandon Jones will be the safety that's that we need to replace Justin Simmons The X Factor for our defense to be that top five defense that I think this unit can be is Riley Moss if You' got shut down corner on one side and shut down corner on the other which Riley Moss is proving to be a very viable cornerback too this defense is going to be scary we've got Nick Bonito and baron Browning starting the season healthy we've got Jonah Ellis looking like he's going to come out like a man possessed as a rookie pass rusher then the moves that we've made with acquiring Malcolm roach and John Franklin Myers this defense not only is it not going to be 31st it is going to be a top five defense barring injury there is no doubt about it which allows the Denver Broncos to absorb some of those rookie tendencies that are undoubtedly going to happen with B Knicks he's a rookie this is a very complex offensive offensive scheme and there's just no two ways about it he's had 61 college starts and I think that that's that's a great resume but the NFL is the NFL for a reason so thankfully we have the defense that we have to be able to absorb a rookie quarterback's growing pains with the Broncos replacing Josie juwel with Cody Barton and all the moves that are M were made during the offseason along the defensive line that should give all of us hope that we will have continued success on that side of the ball before we end the video if you haven't already please like this video
