San Francisco 49ers Ricky Pearsall shot in Union Square after attempted robbery

all right welcome back to the channel ladies and gentlemen uh man man man I know most of you have probably heard already for those of you you who haven't 49ers rookie Ricky uh P can hopefully I'm saying his last name right I think it's peol they'll say it was shot in San Francisco's Union Square you know I did that video a while back talking about how uh how crazy is gotten in San Francisco with all the stores closing same thing that they say about New York uh there's a lot of businesses that have to shut down because of theft and all that stuff man so I'm just like wondering my my first thought was like man what is he doing there like what why is he there um I'm like who is he with did he have security you know cuz he's a rookie so I'm like I'm wondering if he thought like oh nobody's going to recognize me what was he wearing uh so they were saying like I guess they tried to take like his Rolex and I think he uh might have fought him for it because I think he got shot and then the suspect got shot also with his own gun so I'm wondering but we going to check this video out all I'm saying is like if you ain't packing give it up if if somebody come at you you know I mean like dude you in the NFL you can buy yourself a whole another watch or whatever it is trying to take you know especially if if they're packing and you ain't so we going to check this out it's pretty crazy though man like I mean thankfully the brother's still alive but I don't know when he's going to be able to get back on the field um yeah so all right let's check this video out [Music] right now on NBC Bay Area News We are following breaking news out of San Francisco 49ers rookie receiver Ricky peol is in the hospital after being shot during an attempted robbery right there in Union Square in the last 30 minutes we got an update from police from the mayor from the district attorney the suspect who's also shot is a 17-year-old from Tracy that suspect also in the hospital and we have Team coverage tonight Maran Fabro I did not know this dude was only 17 years old that's well it's kind of crazy to say that's crazy I thought this was like a wait wow that SF General were pure soul and the suspect are being treated are Anthony Flores he will join us to talk about what this means for the team this season but we want to begin with Alyssa gourd who is near Union Square where this all unfolded just a few hours ago Alysa Gia as you mentioned we are right near Union Square we're on giri just off of Grant and this is where San Francisco police say that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky peol was the victim of both an attempted robbery and a shooting earlier to the team issuing a statement this evening saying that he is in stable but serious condition and we want to give you a look at what this scene here looked like just this afternoon there were evidence markers all along the sidewalk with clothing and a shoe and a hat on the ground there was blood here on the sidewalk as well that blood has since been cleaned up police say they got a call at around 3:30 so I'm I'm just wondering um cuz cuz I seen that little clip where they were putting him in the on the gurnie or whatever and I noticed he still had on his shoes so that I'm guessing that's the suspect maybe shoes that are right there uh and those are so those Dior slides you know so what I'm saying is like a lot of these dudes that be robbing people they don't look broke they don't look like you know they they they got on nice outfits and and they that's crazy man you just got to really be alert watching your surroundings but like I said man if you ain't packing just give it up and if you are packing you better be ready to go cuz it's now is now it's on who can draw the fastest literally like a damn cowboy movie Western about a reported shooting and when they arrived they found two men here injured those men were taken to the hospital now after investigating police learned that one of those people was pierceall and that the other was a person who' attempted to Rob him now San Francisco police chief Bill Scott got just informed us in a press conference that the suspect approached peol and attempted to Rob him the there was gunfire from the suspect's gun that struck both Mr peol and the suspect and the sus yeah so you can see he probably that's crazy cuz you know being a football player you know it's pretty strong player person so I don't know how it went down but you know there probably was a fight for and he probably turned the gun on him it's crazy man this happens every day every day uh San Francisco police chief Bill Scott has said as a 17-year-old from Tracy Police say that there was some kind of physical altercation involved and that both people were injured that suspect is in custody and charges are pending here's what San Francisco police chief Bill Scott had to say he was walking alone when a suspect approached him and attempted commit to commit an armed robbery using a gun a struggle between Mr peol and the suspect ensued and the suspect's gun struck gun fire from the suspect's gun stro struck both Mr peol and the subject thankfully Mr peol is in stable condition although and police just cleared the scene here on giri street they just removed the caution tape and as you likely know Union Square is a very popular tourist destination and so tourists have been coming here all day and watching as the investigation unfolded shocked to find out what happened here live in San Francisco Alysa gourd NBC Bay Area News like I said you know it just makes me think of um in La you got mail rols there was a video of dude uh trying to steal someone shoot and they were like shooting and stuff I'm I'm still kind of shocked that people are still going down there touring like maybe they ain't got the memo yet but I mean it it's it's I I get people wanting to sight see and you want to go to these places where you know they're known for this or known for that but at the same time man you got to do a little research you know uh being a tourist ain't like it used to be you know cuz you got people just doing this just waiting and like I said in 2028 when those Olympics come to La forget about it telling you right now I don't care how many people they got out there is some stuff that's going to go down guaranteed you know I said just how the the the city is getting ready to put everything together together you got criminals getting on a Blackboard you know coming up with game plans to to to do the worst is going to go down these people are professional criminals man luckily for him he's a football player and he was able to just you know cuz you got to think about your average person maybe not as strong you know and it would have went a different way and this dude 17 years old man like people like this just throw them under the jail you know you over here at 17 years old think about that the potential you have to do so many great things and this is what you choose to do life just ruins and this dude is a rookie man you work your butt off play your sport you know and and you you living the dream man you got drafted and now you can't even you can't even get out on the I don't know when he's going to be able to get out there to get shot in the chess like you got to think about him getting hit I I don't know but he got
