[Music] all right mike congratulations thank you what does this mean to you oh it means a lot everything i worked for everything i dreamed of it was a goal of mine you know to get to the second contract it's just amazing just to keep playing in the nfl what were the emotions that you had when you found out this was going to happen yeah it was amazing you know just to talk to my mom my family everybody was happy for me but yeah i just got to go out there and ball no was your mom the first call that she made my agent called me then one of my homies called me it was the phone just was going crazy uh but yeah my mom was like the first person i called back my agent already had called her though oh yeah so he broke the news yeah he broke the news i thought i was gonna be the first person but i guess he told her and she was just on the phone teary eyes yeah but yeah it was good what does it mean that this is the team that took you seventh overall in 2017 and now you get to continue with them oh it just means that they trust me they believe in me as a player you know that's that's what you want for an organization to believe in you that gives you a lot of confidence to go out there play fast uh and play play your game that's the main thing they allow me to go out there play my game so i just feel like as the main thing they uh believe in me to go out there and have fun looking back at your nfl career thus far it has not come without adversity yeah but how did you never let that get you down and in fact how did you grow from it i mean adversity you come in life outside of football i seen adversity early on in my career in college losing my dad at an early age that was adversity so i mean i always had to overcome adversity so i mean overcoming adversity was easy for me you know just not having the first year to be the first year that i wanted just coming out getting better every year and improving every year was just a goal of mine and i was doing that so just improve on last year as a team as an individual and you know reach the ultimate goal and that's getting super bowl what would your dad think of this oh he'll love it he'll love it uh yeah i mean he's been on this journey with me the whole time though so he he's a part of it also what excites you most now about continuing with the chargers just with the group that we have the quarterback that we have the receivers that we have the whole staff we just got to go out there and do it we can come out have a great offseason get better and you know half win where can you and keenan go whoo i don't know it's going to be crazy though things gonna get a little spooky out here [Applause] [Music] and then lastly mike you had told me you think about your small town roots every day yeah you're the kid from vance overall how special is this to you in terms of just where you've come from oh especially not just me go out there on sundays you know i feel like i got the whole city on my back i'm one of the small people who made it out so i feel like i'm a example for the kids in my community so i feel like every time i go out there to practice on the field i'm carrying them with me so i just got to keep going and uh you know inspiring the youth in my other city a whole lot of mike dub coming now let's show it congratulations thank you if you want to see more content like this check out the link right here
