Southern Illinois at BYU, Aug. 31, 2024

all right everyone welcome back to another video and today is September the 1st of 2024 and I'll be reviewing the BYU Southern Illinois game and that's coming up right after this [Music] hi everyone welcome back to just Justin yeah we're here at BYU Stadium it's just almost half time came down and I got my wife a drink um yeah my wife actually T me today so yeah we'll be talking a little bit about the game before we get into the game let's just go ahead and let's look at something here okay so this right here is the t-shirt that BYU is selling right now it's a 100 Years of BYU football so back in 192 24 BYU football started and yeah 100 years later we are still out there playing well we are BYU still out there playing okay all right so yeah the game last night was really super good okay the atmosphere was just insane you know for a football game I'm sure when Oklahoma State and some of the the top dogs of the Big 12 come to play is will be be insane plus 10 all right so yes the atmosphere at BYU was always exciting all right and over the summer they even added some brand new LED lights that will flash on and off so take a look at this [Music] [Applause] I mean yeah it's kind of cool you have Cosmo out there um playing the drums and then you have the fire dancers out there [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and the lights are going on and off and they even turn blue so that is kind of cool for BYU to have that there to Improvement for that atmosphere of the BYU football games all right so let's let's talk about some stats okay so in total yards SIU or Southern Illinois University had 231 total yards and BYU had 527 all right so in passing yards SIU had 118 and BYU had 348 yards rushing yards SIU had 123 and BYU had 179 yards all right so the first downs SIU had 12 BYU had 27 so this is an interesting one fourth down efficiency SIU had zero for one and BYU surprisingly had three to four now two of those fourth down conversions came in the first quarter on the first drive so yes BYU went for it twice and on the same drive and succeeded both times so yeah three out of four that is pretty good fourth down efficiency all right so the total plays was SIU had 51 and BYU had 77 all right and so here's an interesting thing zero fumbles on both teams and SIU through one interception so yeah it was a pretty good game the time of possession of course was all BYU SIU had 20 minutes and 46 seconds and BYU had 39 minutes and 14 seconds so that that was a pretty good game last night and we actually sat up on in um section 103 on the west side so as the sun setting we're always in the shade we're not on the east side where it's always sunny all right so yeah the game started off about 90° by the time it ended it was about 73 72° it was a nice night my wife even enjoyed that she didn't complain once about the heat all right so yeah we were in section 103 in Portal BB and we sat our chair our seats included chairs which weren't really comfortable especially when you're sitting next to someone who is tall and they kind of take up a lot of room see look at this picture okay so yeah that it was it was fun it was exciting and I also saw a lot and a lot lot of fans picking up cougar Tails I mean some people had three or four I mean that's a lot of sugar and a lot of calories but yes we had a great view of the field I mean we had an excellent view of everything that was going on that fumble that um SIU did in the I do believe was the fourth quarter we couldn't see exactly what happened but it was ruled that it was not a fumble so yeah but yeah that's the only thing we couldn't see I mean we saw some excellent passes from Jake so Jake resl number 12 the BYU's quarterback he has an arm on him he's launched a couple good throws down the middle there one time that when by was driving towards the North End Zone he launched a missile down the field and the ref had to hit the round cuz the ball was going to hit him in the head but BYU they caught it and that led to uh touchdown but yeah he has a great arm on him all right so Southern Illinois they are part of the Missouri Valley Conference and that is part of the division one football championship subd division all right so yeah they're not used to playing a power five school but don't get me wrong Southern Illinois is is a good team all right they are an excellent team and they came to play okay they really came to play BYU but in the end BYU ended up winning 41- 13 so yeah it was a good game it should be a good season for BYU and for Southern Illinois they have a lot of potential but next week BYU travels to Dallas to to take on the Southern Methodist University Mustang so SMU and that is on a Friday night all right so want you guys to go check that out and I will also be updating that game as well on Saturday unfortunately I'm not traveling to that game all right so that is my recap on the first game of
