Craig was hot early and I mean he could have been an All-Star in my opinion when we were going into the break since the break it hasn't been the same for Craig and I know speaking with you you had injuries to end your career towards the end before that you were having a lot of success but can you touch on you know maybe if there's anything your scen with Craig Kimbrell is it a is it a matter of you're getting older or is there something in here where may maybe it's less physical and more of the mental toll because we can't deny the guy has been one of the best the best the game has ever seen but it is a rough period for him there's no question and and and to me um to be totally honest with you um it's it's it's hard it's hard for him to pitch right now and and I got to that point in my career too it's hard to go out there and and get people out when your confidence isn't there and you know you're on the end of your you know career um and you know you don't have 97 98 anymore when you need it that's a that's a tough thing to to do because now everything becomes more precise you're not spinning the ball as fast as you can on your breaking stuff or your uh fast ball and so everything is just it it's you're like a a truck leaking o and eventually oh you you got no more more oil and you leak out that's what's happening but at the same time this guy knows how hey I still have kimal on the back of my jersey it means a whole lot just like your dad when he went through history he got through some of those games just by the name on his back of his jersey and it's what you do because you're a grinder because you you're you're so well prepared and you already have been through this a thousand times that there's Mo most of the time you know how to get out of these jams that he may get in but at the same time man it just makes it so much harder and life so much harder when you don't have the stuff that you used to have it's just that simple but um you know I think this year come playoffs it's GNA have to be a tight a tight yank with him like if he lose if he gets a guy on you got to get him like because the older we get as well um it makes it harder for us to grind through those Innings especially those high intensity playoff Innings so to me if I'm managing correct you know you you let him go out there you try to close games but if you get in trouble you got to get him quick well then when you mentioned that you felt some of that yourself would you think that that obviously the physical not having 97 98 is obviously a lot different than when you're throwing 92 94 but is it for that take out the physical is that the mental that you know you have to be a little bit more perfect and maybe it's just it's taking contr is that is that make sense yeah and and it it drains on you because back in your in the back of your head you're like man I I know I got to throw a fast ball here I know he knows a fast Ball's coming uh and I don't have it enough to blow it by you so then you don't throw the pitch with confidence it's a domino effect you know yeah especially in the closers role where all the pressure is on you so everything gets intensified even more yeah well we're hope the best I I like I remind people he's shown his flashes but again the perspective that it's it's really great to hear yours because I know that you've seen it you've gone through it and only certain people can actually understand what it looks like how it seems but really how it feels internally so I appreciate that and believe me I want Kimbrell to do well I do I like I I I love Kimbrell I think he's been great for us in the role of the club trust me man I I root for this kid um but it's just it's so hard towards the end of your career man and he's and he's been notoriety his notoriety is to blow these playoff games which I hope he can get that monkey off his back with the Orioles um because you don't want to be known for that you know I'm pulling for him honestly yeah um but notna year maybe if it's not the Red Sox why not the Orioles this year right well if it's not that I'll be pulling for the orol for sure hey you know what I appreciate you you we know you're not pulling for New York I think that that's the one thing that we can agree ONN right
