for today's video I'm going to go through the latest roster moves that the New Orleans Saints have made as we head into the final week of the pre-season and that final game is just a few days away welcome into Saints now my chat sports my name is Trace Gerard and there is no move more important than this one right here now the New Orleans Saints have activated tight end Jan Johnson off the pup list he has passed his physical he is ready to roll and this is really really good news and we're going to dive into this and four other I think there's five total moves that we're breaking down in today's video in just one second but really quick here's a update on our sub battle against Falcons today we're wiping the floor with them but let's keep pouring it on them because they stole our few months he actually had to get foot surgery earlier this summer and I'm here to tell you right now there's nothing to really worry about because he should be ready to go for week one versus the Panthers and at practices we've seen Jan Johnson's use or not usage but his uh participation get a little slight uptick over the past few few days and he's starting to kind of really get things going last night at the open practice at yolman Stadium at the Tain field it Lane football field uh Johan Johnson was active he was moving around really well didn't seem like there was many limitations so good to see that from him and good to see him back on the field because I do think that the New Orleans Saints offense is going to get a big jump from Joan Johnson now D Hulker got an update on him because earlier this week if you guys remember in the preseason matchup versus the San Francisco 49ers D Hulker actually did not play because he he sprained his ankle in the warm-ups and it wasn't even during like the official team warm-ups he was just tossing the pill around with some quarterbacks just trying to get his you know get his legs moving and stuff so that is an injury update around him Dennis Allen he spoke to Media yesterday he said that he and the way he spoke he didn't say but the way he spoke it didn't seem like he was extremely concerned about this injury but I will say this in terms of Jan Johnson being back in the fold I do think that this makes D hul's route to the 53-man roster a little bit tougher especially considering Hulker is dealing with an injury himself he was not at practice today however I do want him to get back soon and I hope that we can see him in the preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans here in New Orleans now with Jan Johnson I like I said a minute ago he adds juice to this team and he adds juice to this offense and you can sit here and say he's not the best tight end in the league and he isn't Travis Kelsey and he's not Mark Andrews and he's been inconsistent and unreliable and all that and I would say some of that is warranted but I also can understand the fact that when you have a pass or an offense with a lot of pass catchers that are hurt and this isn't just all of them this is just a few of them to name you you have to have some guys back like jwan Johnson he's a good football player he has really nice hands and on top of that he is a player who can really thrive in this offense especially under the Clint kubak system now Rasheed Shahed there's a posit injury update around him Dennis Allen saying that he avoided a turf toe injury and that he's just kind of staying out as a precautionary reason and for uh Rasheed Shahed it's also likely that he will be back soon I do hope that he can return relatively quickly um he is one of my favorite players on the roster to be quite honest but with uh rased Shahed I'm hoping he can get back soon uh or sooner rather than later now we do have another roster move the New Orleans Saints they waved since your hanesworth with an injury designation he actually uh tore his a or sprained his MCL excuse me against the 49ers in preseason week too so that's a really big loss there in my opinion I didn't know if he was going to make the roster but it was cool to see the Tain guy make the Saints udfa list and competing for a roster spot I don't know if he was going to make the roster like the 53 man roster but the practice squad maybe and right now the Saints offensive line is very very beat up Trevor Penning and oie Udo are splitting reps at starter for right tackle Dennis Allen today saying that Trevor Penning holds the advantage but they want to get more looks of U Udo as a starting right tackle tiis fanga he was dealing with the back injury he's starting to ramp back up with his you or with his participation that shouldn't be anything that keeps him out long term and then on top of that just have a couple other players on the roster Nick salav come on I need to see him get healthy and I need to see him do something because the Saints traded up to get him not too long ago in the draft two years ago and I really need to see him get on the field and do something worth a damn for the New Orleans Saints offense now for me I just would love to see this offensive line get healthy because that right there is the biggest question mark for me I have Fair reservations against the quarterback or within the quarterback play I have reservations within the running backs and within the wide receivers some of them but none of that works if the offensive line cannot execute their jobs and we're already missing an allp Pro right tackle in Ryan Ram cuz he is out for the entire season due to a knee injury he may never play another snap of football again but I want to see this offensive line stay healthy I would love to see that be the case and unfortunately right now they just keep getting banged up so if you hate injuries we need to throughout the NFL he has a limited uh career in terms of his play is the gamees played only 42 games throughout his career uh he has 46 tackles he was the second round pick out of Vanderbilt uh by the New England Patriots no interceptions throughout his career 10 pass breakups and why the Saints made this move well here it is Jordan Schulz reporting that Kool-Aid mckinstry he did avoid a significant knee injury but he is dealing with the knee injury nonetheless this happened just five snaps uh into the game against the 49ers and I think Kool-Aid McKenry has been really really really good throughout this entire offseason and the preseason process I think he has done a lot of good things and I think he's going to be a good player for New Orleans for the foreseeable future with Kool-Aid McKenry I do think that he'll be fine but the New Orleans Saints need more active quarterback or cornerbacks to have a practice and I think that's why Joan Williams was signed and I it's nothing against him it's nothing against like him as a man or as a player it's just Saints have a loaded cornerback paulon Ado Marshon Latimore when they're healthy they are in my opinion one of the best quarterback Duos in the league lante Taylor has taken strides I'm not taking I'm not saying steps he's taken strides to improve what he is capable of and improve himself as the nickel corner but I also really like Kool-Aid mckinstry I really like Rico pyton I really like rayan R I think he's been making plays but I also am a fan of uh I'm a fan of Ugo aaditi and I think that he made some plays last year for the Saints as well now here's a little bit more on Joan Williams he was a second round pick back in 2019 he was actually the 45th overall selection which is kind of wild coming out of Vanderbilt you know hear a lot of those players getting drafted uh early in day two or even in day one for that matter so he did only have 36 games played in New England the rest of his games played came with Chicago and Minnesota he's only started one game throughout his entire career so that's something to consider and you know I I just don't know if he's going to make the roster because I think that Rico Payton does have a really legitimate shot he has been impressive he has five tackles and four pass breakups throughout the preseason so far he is dealing with a shoulder injury but reports coming from Nick Underhill and from Dennis Allen that they're not anything major it's pretty minor right now so I think Rico Payton can show that he is still a capable player if he can get back on the field he can show how tough he is and I think that that would be enough to get him on the roster he was the second highest graded rookie in preseason week one he had a really good game against the 49ers as well he's been picked on a lot in practice and I think that all of that has made him a better player and I'm not saying he wasn't a good player coming out of Pittsburgh state but I do think that when he was with the gorillas he was playing really well but Dennis Allen has done a good job of developing him and turning him into an NFL Ready Player so two more roster moves for you Xander Horvath the fullback he was waved So Adam Prentice wins the fullback battle for the New Orleans Saints and uh fun fact he is not jobless anymore the Miami Dolphins actually picked him up a few days ago and Caleb forb DeMent out of Texas State he is a rookie played under GJ Kenny and GJ Kenny took the Bobcats to their first ever blll game and had and also had their first ever bll game win this past year over rice Caleb for DeMent I think just like Joan Williams it's going to be kind of a tough battle for him to make the roster and I think that it's more of a training camp body more than anything but you know maybe he can shake it out and make and find a way to get to the roster my parents both went to Texas State so uh eat them up cats got to give a shout out to my folks but
