The Cleveland Browns Get GREAT News Before NFL Week 1

the Cleveland Browns continue to get more good news going into week one against the Cowboys on their injury front from the cowboy side of things and one of their AFC North foes having a little bit of a well we'll get to it in a moment but we'll call it an issue with one of their star players but let's start off with what's going on in the brown Zone backyard which is Denzel this team's number one corner is back he suffered a concussion earlier in training camp he has been cleared from concussion protocol practiced with the team at the end of this past week so he is definitely in a good spot and in line to be the starter week one against the Cowboys which have an awesome receiver in CD lamb so it's going to be an all hands on deck type of afternoon the warden comes off another dominant season he was a pro bowler for the Browns 11 pass breakups two interceptions PFF ranked him 41st out of 127 qualifying Corners we know what Denzel is capable of he's been one of the Browns best defenders in the last 20 years I could argue but last year he went up against some really good receivers and he put them away week one home against Jamar Chase in the Bengals after Chase talked all that smack yeah four grabs for 26 yards week six the red hot 49ers came to town against a banged up Browns team Brandon iuk one grab eight yards for a man who just got a $30 million contract extension and then DJ Moore week 15 one reception for 30 yards so Denzel Ward went up against some of the best and highest paid receivers last year in the NFL and every single one of them ran into an issue with the war so now he's got to get ready for CD lamb which is why it's so crucial to have Denzel Ward back for week one which is why this is such great news for the Browns because lamb we know is one of the best receivers in football near only 1,00 yards and 12 touchdowns last year now this is not an Apples to Apples or direct correlation but I did look at the Cowboys five losses last year and I pulled CD lamb stats from those five losses and you can see he had some good games in losses like week 16 against the bills week nine against the Eagles but three out of the five he was relatively quiet so there is something to be said about hey want to beat the Cowboys remove CD lamb from their game plan and it's going to be a lot easier to knock them off I think the Browns defensive game plan has to be this braacket off CD lamb with Denzel Ward and either Grant delpit or ju Thornhill over the top and then let miles Garrett in this defensive line handle the Bleak Cowboys ground game by themselves and that's going to free up everyone else on defense to take care of their other minor role players like Jake Ferguson and Brandon Cooks but if you let Denzel ward in a safety just double team team and remove CD lamb from the game Dak Prescott can only do so much by himself and he surely is not going to lean on Old Man Dalvin cook or Ezekiel Elliott to lead them to Victory so I like the Brown's Chances with Warden back to take away cidd lamb and let miles Garrett just wreak havoc knowing D Dak Prescott does not have a receiver open to throw two so that's the first piece of great news the second piece well this one's just a little bit um greedy but Jamar Chase is is holding out as we record this Friday afternoon before I leave for my Vegas trip but it's not good for the Cincinnati Bengals they continue to find themselves in a more difficult position as the league continues to grow astronomically with Revenue up which also means salary caps go up which also means well players want more money and not saying the Bengals can't afford to make payroll but they are running into a little bit of an issue and I think that's evident by them picking up a stadium sponsor last year just to try and pay all their bills when you look at the highest paid wide receivers after Brandon auk's contract extension with the ners I mean Jamar Chase is going to go with his agent to the Bengals and go look I'm better than auk I'm younger than Hill and I'm not far off from Aman Ross St brown or AJ Brown if at all so I would like my starting number to be at least 30 million that's bad news for the broke Boys in Cincinnati like I know it's fun to make fun of the Bengals for being poor and broke but there is some actual truth too when you're looking at all these monster contracts going out from a team perspective the number to look at is the guaranteed money okay when a team gives out a contract with a lot of guarantees in it they are obligated to put aside a high percentage of that guaranteed money into an escrow account and that way if the team or the owner were to go under the player still gets his guarant money now this is a little bit of an outdated practice or rule because none of these billionaires are just going to go under tomorrow but they still have to do it which is why teams like the Browns have no issue giving out big contracts with guaranteed money because Jimmy hasm can snap his fingers and get all that actual cash together in a very quick order the bangal the Raiders the Ravens the Steelers the Packers like some of these franchises without billion billionaire owners it's not as simple even for them to get that much money together that quickly and also have other guaranteed contracts being paid out like Joe burrow which is why Jamar Chas is holding out with two years left on his deal it's a problem and we saw earlier that the Bengals thought they were kind of out of the woods with Jamar Chase when Zack Taylor told the media yeah we'll have him back at practice then he wasn't back at practice so bad news for the broke booy Bengals without a doubt something to monitor I think this will probably have a decent resolution but this could bleed into the season and if that's the case with how loaded the AFC North is the Bengals don't want to miss out on having Jamar Chase for even a week now before we get to the other piece of good news other ones Duron bland is out for the first couple of weeks of the season now that's not good I'm not trying to condone injuries but from the Browns perspective with them going up against a good tough is still working his way back from that tourn ACL he suffered last year he's not on the pist so he very well could play week one but I don't think it's a guarantee that he does and if he does if he's running at a true 100% level so they could be down both their top corners right now and so missing Duron Bland for Deshawn Watson in this offense that's going to be a little bit of a sigh of relief given how I mean Elite he was at the cornerback position so for the Browns this is going to be an offensive Showdown with Dak Prescott and DeShaun Watson and not having Nick chub early on is likely going to translate to a pass happy offense I don't believe they went out and got Ken dorsy just to reinvent the wheel with Jerome Ford and Deontay Foreman so if we're going to see a lot of passes well it's in the Browns best interest that the Cowboys are maybe short one of their better pass Defenders or two so when you look at the Browns receiver room Amari Cooper Jerry Judy and Elijah Moore they are gearing up to go up against a Cowboys DB room that might be down not just donon Bland who was out for the first four weeks guaranteed but also Travon Diggs like I mentioned as well so that's kind of the last piece of really good news for the Browns ultimate uh takeaway defensively is if they don't have Duron Bland just double Micah Parsons and give Deshawn Watson time to find an open Amari Cooper or Jerry Judy or Elijah Moore or David and jok he's got plenty of targets to throw to all of them really good players Micah Parsons is probably the only guy in this Cowboys defense in land and or Diggs is not out there that can truly just dominate the game and turn it around by himself so this is a concern with the Browns offense line being banged up but throw everything you've got at Micah Parson's give Deshawn Watson time he'll find an open guy down the field if Bland and or well land and possibly digs not being out there so predict the score for me Browns vers Cowboys let me know in little bit more of a troll job here but Brandon iuk signed that 4-year $120 million extension with the 49ers as we all know and I still can't stop laughing about the Steelers going into the season with this wide receiver room for Russell Wilson who has completely lost his uh Groove and Mojo from his Seattle days I mean George Pickins he's good no doubt about it but van Jefferson Calvin Austin rookie Roman mil Scotty Miller might be their second best receiver like that's the state of the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver room so the path is forming for the Browns to win their first AFC North Division title with Steelers wide receiver room being a joke plus I don't think Russell Wilson's going to be good this year at all the Bengals might be without Jamar Chase for a set of a period of time and then that leaves one team in your way the Baltimore Ravens which is definitely not going to be an easy obstacle to get past but I mean cut out half the teams with those issues and all of a
