it is Thursday August the 29th we got a lot going on it feels like cuz it's that time that time to start the season uh this will be the last show that we'll go every other day all that rotation stuff cuz after next week got the holiday on Monday Labor Day after that we'll get back in here on Tuesday and then it's every day from here until the next uh Century I don't know forever uh we we'll keep doing this uh all season long starts on Tuesday though next week but we got Today's Show we got a lot uh to talk about like I said the Cowboys are doing a lot of things um you know just kind of filling out their their roster they've they've got a full practice squad now uh 17 players um again if uh Denzel daxon uh gives him that that roster exemption because of his U um International ties to the Bahamas so he's from Bahamas it's the uh International pathway program they get 17 players because of that he'll be as long as he's on it uh all year long and uh they added uh today um a corner back that I I just wrote down there's no way I could pronounce his name I haven't remembered that um he's played for Carolina his name's amanii Amari something I don't know um I we we'll get the um official pronunciation at some point he's played 36 uh games that's PR pretty good four with Detroit four years with Detroit last year some with Jacksonville uh Phil Hoskins a defensive tackle they've added um on the practice squad and then some guy named dvin cook uh running back he's going to wear number 20 uh we'll see what what he does and how long it takes for him to get to get rolling um that's your that's your practice squad right now uh we'll have the full list on on the site I think we had 14 of the names yesterday those three have been added all right let's get going here 888 855 2297 uh we've got two callers on the line we'll start with Curtis he's in Ada Oklahoma good morning how you doing excellent thank you how are you good it's been a while Curtis yes it has you know licking wounds from last year but you know how the NFL is it gets started again and I get excited again so vicious cycle just sucks you back in here yep yeah and you got to think relative you know 12 and Five Seasons um the Giants won a couple Super Bowls and their fans you know aren't happy these days so you know I just like that we play a good brand of football yeah yeah we'll see we'll see if they keep keep doing that but you're right it hasn't been good brand of football hasn't been good when it really really counts we know that and so that's something they've got to fix yeah what I tell people is like I mean really if you're not New England or Kansas City nobody's knocking them out all the time either so yeah but uh my statement or question for today um is I just can't help but keep thinking about um so the scenario would be like if we're up a couple scores and we're in the red zone or we're within Aubrey's range and it's like maybe second or third down um and you have in the back field you have Dak Zeke and Trey Lance and I just wonder if there's anything there you could direct snap to any one of those um you could play action you know to uh Tre Lance or Zeke and then Dak could roll out and pass it um I don't know if I want Tre lamp necessarily throwing the ball um especially in the Red Zone unless it's like a corner fade because of the way the field stretched out for pick sixes um but I just wonder if there's anything there that would hesitate the defense something that you could put on tape or maybe I'm just trying to be too cute well well I mean no that that all sounds good um a couple of questions I would have for you is is he your backup quarterback or do you want if something happens to Dak knock on a big oak tree here but something happens I mean is he your quarterback or do you want Cooper rush to be the quarterback I'd want coop yeah me too and so and I think and McCarthy and Jerry and everyone else um but but the point to that is is that if not then you're going to have to be real creative with how they they do the roster because you're going to have to have all three of those guys active uh Lance rush and Dak the only way Lance can play is if the first two guys are injured uh and out of the game so um if you can make three quarterbacks active but that's just going to mean one less linebacker one less Corner one less guy to play special teams or have depth in that regard um but I'm with you like I I that would I think at some point they might say they go might go into a game and just flip them later in the year they like they have a package that they like for uh try Lance I could see that happening maybe he's doing well in practice or who knows Cooper Rush has a you know ankle injury that's bothered him or something I I don't know I'm just I'm just throwing out scenarios where maybe this game they flip it and Cooper is the is the emergency third quarterback Lance is the backup and then that that could happen but I and I'm not ruling out three quarterbacks active for a game I'm just saying that they have to see how how it's all going to work with special teams um stuff like that awesome man I appreciate it thank you thank you but but to to the point about what he's really saying is that you have a dynamic type of guy back here that could create some different things um I think that would be a really good player to have on your your two-point conversions have him out there on two points you've got two guys out there that could throw it run it uh just another guy to account for in a short space like that um I I I would imagine they've got some plays in the work you just got to see how they can get Lance to the game if if that that's what they want to do but yeah good good thinking there Curtis all right uh Irene in Virginia's next Irene hey Nick good morning how are you I'm good good good to hear from I'm I'm doing well it's been a while I know I kicked off the season and then went uh went quiet for a while there okay hey so you're big time now we know this because you have commercials so that's something I know they're and reads too uh I got excited I was like all right he's he's made it oh and and I love them I I love them I I know it's I I love them right right there with the lawnmowers I mean they're like right there yeah exactly good stuff but they pay the bill they pay the bills they do they do hey if your show didn't matter they wouldn't have had them so you went to the next tier yeah all right so roster um I'm happy both lipsky and voner on the team I honestly don't really care about the cook signing I mean I depth is great so fine I don't I don't mind it I don't feel anything really towards it either way um the one depth pie piece I'm actually kind of excited for um not in like oh he's going to become Don Bland but the orari I don't know if that's how you say it man that that sounds really good I like that I was really about to to message Chris like can you paste that name in there so I could give it a try I like what you just you just did that's good say say say it again what is it Oru War yes that's the official pronunciation from the storyline yeah there you go so he the last couple Seasons he hasn't done much but two 2021 2020 was pretty productive so I don't I don't know what the fall off has been but again the depth piece that you can develop and if Carson doesn't isn't having a great season because he's a rookie maybe you can work him in I I don't know I just like the move it's not again it's not donon Bland's replacement but worth a look yeah six picks uh in 2021 um with the Lions I mean that's that's that's making plays there's no doubt that's making plays on the ball and uh again I I think the injuries last year in Jacksonville only played one game so uh you know it's practice squad it's a free look so it's kind of like Andrew Booth really another player that you know a young young guy but but this guy's been a lot more productive than than Booth Booth was just more of a high draft pick that they're stilling develops boo I'm not convinced that he's not a safety or a linebacker because I'm like I don't know about the coverage but he tackles really well so may maybe he'll have the Maris bell roll a little bit safety you're you're you're right about that um I will say though if you if you saw the 70 yard touchdown run on the first play of the game the other other day just a run around the edge he was blocked into the cheerleaders maybe front row I mean he yeah it wasn't it wasn't pretty he needed to shed that block most safeties are not going to be blocked off that like that too so he he's just got to get better I mean there's no doubt about it he's quick quick feet he's got cornerback feet so he's a Corner he's just got to he's just got to be tougher in in those situations get off the ball make the plays he's a good tackler like you said um you know and they's got to take that and be a good special teams guy but yeah they they're they're adding they're adding some pieces that's what I like about it they're they're they they've got a lot of Band-Aids on this thing and um whether it be big Band-Aids in defensive tackles or or some of these Corners running back whatever it is they're they're throwing they're being active with names right now now like you wanted them to be active in in free agency back in March but they're doing it now they did things they wanted just really late they just made us wait hey one one quick thing just so I can um tell you a little bit about what like why I haven't been around I'm actually calling you from a a Skilled Nursing Facility um my mom had a a big injury right before the beginning of storyline season um she actually almost passed away a couple times she's doing great now they're taking care of her and I wanted to shout out Dr Sunshine because the activities and stuff that they do here like that stuff matters she's thing it is great that's great that that's great that's gonna be hard for to for anything to be better than that today for me to hear that's that's really awesome thank you and thank you for keeping me sane during this because I needed the distraction I haven't been able to call but uh you know listen no one's ever said that to me before about keeping them sane but that that's cool it's that I can flip the script no that's great to hear about your mom hope she continues to do well we're all pooling for for her as well uh thank you so much for calling Irene all right and uh and what she's referring to is my dad um Tim meatman who who he sings at at at um at you know at the retirement homes and and uh he he he's it's really uplifting uh call it Dr sunshine and and it really can uh be uh very beneficial so hopefully that's that's uh still working for Irene and her mother all right Gary in New Mexico wow it's been a while for Gary in New Mexico hey Nick Hope Springs Eternal every August right right right hibernation is what it is like people just coming out of the Woodworks here must be football season it must be it must be man I was I was so focused on trying to get into the show I didn't even think about what I was going to talk about but uh let's talk about Dak Prescott real quick okay I've heard of him I was 12 years old during the Great Danny White Gary hogaboom controversy so I remember what it's like when you've got a good quarterback and the fans are not happy with him that was a dumpster fire So and I've got a lot of friends that think Dak Prescott is trash and we just need to move on and that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard and I understand the lack of playoff success but if you look at dak's career he's been the full-time starter for seven of his eight seasons we'll throw out 20 when he got hurt but in those other Seven Seasons the Cowboys have never had a losing year and they've made the playoffs five times okay that's not an that's not an accident yeah that's not a flute I mean this guy has taken them to the playoffs consistently he's won division titles consistently he's been a pro bowler multiple times he's been an all pro he's coming off of his best year and this will be his second season in McCarthy's offense and I'm and I'm different than a lot of fans I Am pro McCarthy and pro Prescott MH I mean we need to realize when we've got a good thing and let's just let's get him signed let's put a team around him this is a good football team Nick yeah and I I understand the playoff success but we've got we've got pro bowlers and all Pros scattered all over the roster in almost every area of the roster yeah I I'm with you I mean you're not you're not you don't have to convince me and I think you make good points there with with Dak and and and the level of consistency that he has brought to the team since he since he got here and the number one thing about Dak that that I want to point out and I think this is huge you know he could have held out like CD yeah he could have held in but that man is at work every day just doing his job and there's a lot to be said for that in today's NFL and you can't I mean you can't even put a price on that type of leadership and uh I just think they need to Reign him man just he he's a good quarterback he's a good guy and I think if we put the right guys around him he can he he can get us over the hump we just got to be patient his story is not finished being written yet so let's enjoy let's enjoy the ride we can talk about January when we get to January but let's enjoy the ride along the way I love it you know you know me I'm I'm always going to be saying that thank you for the call Gary good to hear from me and I'm always going to say Enjoy the Ride because this is it we're about to we're about to start this thing um I you know when he talked about Danny White Gary hogaboom back in 19 I think it was 19 1984 uh I was eight years old so I mean but I do remember quarterback controversy big deal and and what you said was is Danny White was a good quarterback and he was that there's no doubt he was a good quarterback the problem there was he replaced a great a Hall of Fame quarterback that's who he replaced so when you have a Hall of Famer from and and I don't even think great is the right word when you're talking about Hall of Famer so you're you're talking about Elite quarterback back and then now you have a good one um that that is a big jump there's no doubt about that and so that's that was that I'm sure what was the you know that was the story there was was how do we get back to this greatness that that they had in the 70s and and you're turning over every every Rock to to try to get that done and it didn't work and and you look back now and go you know Danny White was a really good quarterback um and Dak has been a really good quarterback as well uh last year I think he had a great season uh you know when he said that about Gary just said that about his seven years you you throughout 2020 um but you know these other seven years that I see you know I I I see wins and losses in first year he was plus 10 right 13 and three then plus two plus four plus two 2020 he they were I think two and three when he got injured so I mean they they were struggling but who knows how that would have turned out so we can throw it out there uh plus 2020 was crazy year anyways and then plus 7 plus 7 plus 7even last three seasons so so if you want to be Pro deck you look at that and go man he's that's what what you know 31 almost 40 games over 500 um that's that's what the glass half full now the half empty is like a who cares about that how about the playoffs what's your playoff record what's that and and that's fair too that's kind of where we are uh in this situ situation but I think Dak um he you're right about that he's also been he's been here he's been here he's the leader of this team it's different situation than what CD has different than what Micah's probably going to have when you're the leader of the team everybody's looking at you um and and can you handle it and that's what we're about to find out all right let's go to Anthony in Miami my guy Nick the quick what's up baby how are you I'm doing pretty good today Nick pretty good another wet Miami day but I'm doing pretty good all right um IID like to start this thing out with accolades and praises and first of all to to your producer which is great Chris but you know when we U I don't know if they're all producers or whatever but the people I've called for six years I've been listening for about 10 but for six I've heard Douglas on the phones I've heard Cal who I've advocated for that's my guy I've heard Chris now and Jazz I mean they need some shout outs you know what I'm saying if they can get more money they damn sure deserve it because they're great at what they do you know introducing us and getting us ready for the call having a little fun and stuff like that so let me say that yeah Kyle can smell fresh cash Kyle Kyle Kyle is now you know on on this side of of the thing but um a true a true Testament to to people that that come in and do whatever it takes to kind of get the job done and and and to fill any kind of roles that that are needed he's done that uh of course you know Douglas uh he's been been here for forever uh and Chris Chris is you know MacGyver was I just called him and you know Utah Jazz I mean she's just uh she you know I don't know if I like that nickname anymore because Utah Jazz they don't win anything and I know this I I know this I just handed an Emy trophy to Jazz yesterday and put it on her desk which I I think it's about three or four for her now so she's winner so I don't know about that Utah Jazz anymore I'm not calling her that all right okay sorry sorry hey that's no no no that's ride baby that hey those are our people man that's I you know I can't help this positive energy that's why I like calls like Michael I heard a shout out a couple weeks ago Michael and Co Cal for he's always you know I don't care what his content is but he's always positive Sebastian you know what I'm saying he comes with that energy and you had a guy I didn't call but you had a hold up now yeah you had a guy Michael Michael from Colton California always positive no his energy no the energy his opening St that's what I'm saying oh yeah go back to the one after the after the Packers lost and yeah that one wasn't so B and why oh no no no he he was he where's the volume button oh my God but yeah Anthony you're bringing it today must be football season huh hey man look I just you know sometimes you got to just do what you got to do you know because when you you know I'm hearing at the end of the show I told you I support everything Cowboys man told you I'm the one who support the shows and and I know it's other people that do it but I'm gonna be known for doing that everything Cowboys you know the star that's me baby I'm watching everything on T on Cowboys TV you know the star app you know cowboys app that's just what I do so I heard you and Rob at the end of the show Tuesday since I didn't call y'all giving each other pats on the back and y'all got y'all dicks and that with for D I'm still sticking with Hollywood Henderson since we doing numbers you know but I did you know you did to Tony do set thing but I could have done a little Hy Walker on you because I told you what it was gonna be you know what I'm saying and I think that's gonna be that it's not gonna be Hollywood Henderson I mean that I'm sorry you sure 56 you sure if he signs now if Dak signs if Dak somehow miraculously signs before game one against Cleveland I think it's gonna be 56 I'll cap it at 565 that's just me man I don't know why I feel this way you know it's just what I you know it could be worth more but when you reset markets man to reset that market is 55.1 point2 that's to reset the market you going be the highest paid man 56 Health the team you're not taking nothing away from that he's getting what he deserves I just don't understand why people think we no your 58 is good that that might be a cap right there but the 60 and all that number they no man no iuh Patrick Mahomes is the only one at Tom Brady in the last seven six to seven years that deserve that type of money quarterback the only not bur not no I'm just sorry and that's just you know the way I feel deep blue my last one deep blue you said it do what you love and love what you do Sebastian called out and he said man let me tell you something that was one of the best things since Jesse's story yeah you know I love Jesse Story how he came up and him talking about that security guard stuff late at night walking around that that me and my old lady watched this one that that hit me man that oh my gosh choice and all the people and you interviewing these people man it was one of the best things I've ever seen so shout out to everybody who had something to do with that production and as I always said Cowboys for life baby talk to you next time Nick thank you appreciate that man Anthony bringing it today I love it um you're right though on million a year I just think that's too low I think I think the asking price has been up in the 60s I think to do that you're probably going to to get this done I just see it being a little higher than that 57 maybe but probably 58 but again with this contract you know it seemed like with CD he he made a point to say that his agent told him hey the Cowboys are I went to 34 and he was like where do I sign and like that seemed to be the sticking point with that I'm not sure if it is an average per year um where that's the only thing that matters I think it could be a little bit more than that just on on you know obviously the length of the deal and and and just uh guarant aned money there's a lot of little factors in there it could be though it could be that number right there but um we'll see Squad um but no Eric Scott didn't really surprise me just didn't see a lot from him um he didn't come across as the most confident corner and that's all I'm going to say just like that's what it just the perception was um so you know he he he didn't have that it factor that donon bland had right away that kayin Carson has right away hopefully he he does you know play play better um unless playing the Cowboys I forget who who picked him up honestly um I know I know they were they were really disappointed in Julius wood getting getting claimed that was a guy they really liked um just didn't have the spot for him on the roster and they were hoping to to to sneak him back to the practice squad but no no real surprises really um from from that you know 17 guys on a practice squad is a lot uh it's a lot of guys you can use and remember how the rules are you can Elevate these players to per uh week um they can be elevated three times before they they they have no more elevations you have to either put them on the roster or they just stay on the practice squad so all right let's stay in Oklahoma we got Gavin Oklahoma City hey man how's it making you good man how are you I'm good man I'm great I uh secured tickets to the Ravens Cowboys game and I feel a lot better that I know 888's going to be suiting up knock on wood yeah yep so uh that'll be a good time uh and shout out to Oklahoma man all these Oklahoma people calling in I'm a Louisiana native but I know some die hards from here that just grew up on Cowboys football shout out to Oklahoma yeah it's the pro team over there too I mean well I mean the Oklahoma Sooners are the pro team now especially with nil but but uh you know you know what I'm talking about uh for sure but yeah but it's I've lived in Oklahoma like I said and and a lot of cowboy fans there and you know and and also we got Gary from New Mexico I mean New Mexico is another border state uh just like AR Arkansas Loui in all the and and those are the teams for sure yes for sure but uh I guess my uh comments last question today is they're they're flying they flew out dvin cook and obviously sign them to the practice squad even though no disrespect but personally I feel like the biggest thing you could do for that running back room is maybe find someone explosive I feel like we have enough power backs in the room but uh I guess it doesn't hurt you know to have someone else in the building but I guess my question really is do you feel like maybe they should be flying in some proven cornerbacks because I'm very worried about our cornerback room I just feel like no disrespect to anybody but Andrew boo what I saw in the uh preseason I believe that's his name I'm not sure that would be a great option if uh God forbid anything happened in trayvon's recovery and uh I'll listen to you speak on that and uh get off of here appreciate man thanks Gavin appreciate that and you know you said no disrespect a couple times I'll say as well to that point no disrespect to that comment but just remember this if you if you're walking through the aisles of Walmart you don't see the experienced Corners here the explosive running backs that that's on this aisle they're not out there I mean the explosive running backs that are usually on a team the experienced Corners also on a team you got to go trade for them that's the thing they traded for booth I mean that they they traded uh Nan Wright for booth all I'm saying is is that and and I remember Bill parcel saying that long time ago you can't just go up to the gas station and pick up what you need um you know with when it comes to running backs Corners they're they're not available and if they were an explosive running back that that's out there that's not in college then um they're probably going to be on a team I mean that's that's just kind of where it is I mean think about du Von for instance right Duce has his limitations we know that okay it's going to be hard for him to play a lot of special teams but but he is an explosive you know quick back that right there is probably what kept him on the team so that's my point is that it's hard to just get rid of traits like that you you're looking for traits who's got this who's got that um they they added the corner um again I've already I'm still not even going to even attempt the name he's played five years uh he's you know he he's got some experience don't know how good he's going to be into this but but the Cowboys are adding look at what they're doing they're they're they're adding some veteran players they keep adding some veteran defensive tackles they have totally flipped that defensive tackle room upside down other than Mazy and Osa everybody else that's in there um is is a 320 pound guy if not bigger lynval Joseph of course Jordan Phillips Phil Hoskins all these guys have played in the league at least three years they're all over 315 320 and and and 65 they they've added some beef there in in in the middle of that defensive line so I'm just saying they're if they're out there I think the Cowboys are showing that they're trying to to find them and and and add them to the team so we'll see how that how that goes all right let's go to uh New Jersey R RDJ is that right RDJ yep that's right how are you how you doing ni yeah I usually come come up with Rd but I figure RDJ because it's it's the full name for Robert Davis Jr so all right all right is this first time call first time no no no no I've called a couple of times all right called a couple of times I just don't remember writing that down RDJ but either way you know either way here I still get I can still get a here we go I love toar here we go there we go you got it we haven't had one yet go for it so all good what's on your mind yeah but you you touched on you touched on what I wanted to call about was dece vau and um that his you know certain trait that he has and my saying is is that I go back to what Nate was talking about uh earlier in the week that you gotta play him and um you know I'm just curious as to what plays do you think he's going to you know be involved in is going to be Gadget plays or do you think it's going to be something that they're going to just surprise them with because of because of the speed because of this shiftin you know just it something a perod because I like the way he run I've watched him in college and I and I and I love this I love this kid I love the way he play and and I I love what he's done this year and in bulking up in order to be able to take that first hit and and then show his explosiveness so I was just curious as to what your thought was about him but you touched a little bit on it anyway yeah I I just want to shout out to everybody that's been calling in because I tell you this it's kept me going um a lot because I've had two surgeries with had to deal with cancer and um let me tell you something training camp being on C boys uh uh network uh listening to all the callers and listening to all the shows to really kep my mind off the things that I've been happening to so I want to shout out to everybody and thank everyone well thank you so much and thanks for for sharing that and and keep keep battling man we we we uh we appreciate all the fans we appreciate you saying that and uh and good luck to you for sure in all the the in your journey there so um you know it calls like that you know I know we're talking about football duvon and and all this stuff and I'll answer that but just remember calls like that put a lot of things in perspective uh on on you know where where things are sometimes you forget you know you for I'm just think I'm looking at a at my a camera here just talking football and and and you don't you don't think really what what it might do uh for other people to kind of get their mind off of what's really going on what's really important just to talk to football so um you know that's that that means a lot to hear things like that and it's good for me it's a good reminder for me to do that so that being said going back to what your question on uh Duce faon you said what plays will be good for him to run and I mean this when I say this I I mean this 100% all of them all of the plays because for him to be effective he's going to have to do everything you're not going to make a living out of third and one handing the ball off to De Von up the middle I I understand that I get it that's what made Zeke who he is and and and and some of these big Power backs but if you don't show that you can do that and you will do that then every time Deuce is in the game it's going to be like watch out for this it's going to be a pass here in the in the flat or it's going to be a quick kick or something weird no he's going to have to do it all that's the most impressive thing about that run R he did in week two of the preseason against the Raiders because it was pretty much a run up the middle right in between the tackles and he made a guy Miss and he went 12 yards those are the kind of things that show wow that's a running back not a gadget back not a a a a small back quick back it's a running back that's what he has to be we know he's not going to be doing everything that other backs doing but but there's a lot of other backs that can't do what he does but you have to be able to kind of do it all and if not then then teams will catch on real quick every team every every team's got six quality control coaches they got a coach somewhere that's saying I just need to focus on every play Deuce does and it can't be it can't be well every time he's in he does this it's got to be all of them for him to really be effective that's just my take on that Dylan in Northport Florida is next hey birthday big guy all right maybe he'll call yes sir and then I just thank God CD's contract got done just so quickly because it would have been a shame if uh that dominated the whole Seas off season and all the contract talk and all the fan talk thank God him and his his team in the front office man got that done so quick yeah for um you were talking about du vaugh he can run between the tackles we saw in the preseason I saw him drive pile a couple times he's so low he gets so stinking low and it's so hard to to get lower than him and he he uses that leverage man big time to to get into some of these piles and he comes out two yards ahead and you're like where where did he go but there he is two yards from where the contact started um so he he can definitely run between tackles for sure and then uh last point maybe you can talk on this one um I got lasic yesterday and I can I can see clearly now right and so what I can clearly see is that Mr Ryan feroy he's going to be the future wide receiver two or three this team he just has so many traits that I love he catches the ball well he runs routes well he's quick we saw him make guys miss uh in the last game and uh I just think that he reminds me of Cedric Wilson maybe it's a half sleeve I don't know but he looks like him to me and I think he's the future two or three down the road in his career in this team I love it yeah thanks for thanks Dylan for the call Ryan floi uh I I like everything that he's done he he's the f I mean just look at like the three games for preseason I mean the first game there was some drops man um you know he it looked like it was his first game you know because I I know this when you're at Southeast you know Missouri State I think they call that Simo okay they don't play at Sofi they those aren't the games that they play at and it looked like it was it was a different world for him second game scored the touchdown against the Raiders but also had some other nice catches in there in that drive third game also catches a touchdown had some other nice catches nice open field move you just see in three games you see the confidence that that went up there with Ryan lenoi um you know again that's a sixth round pick I guess I think for him not the same as Jaylen Tolbert but you know where they they played and and South Alabama is a higher um you know rated School obviously than than Southeast Missouri but still still small school and he needed some development I like where he is right now and comparison to where Tolbert was as a rookie so uh and we've seen his progression maybe um even at a f F rate we'll see Ryan fenoy but uh not a bad thought there second and third I mean that's kind of why you draft him you draft a guy like that thinking that he could get to that level the time he he's changed jobs a little bit uh and uh he he doesn't have the ability to call like he used to I think he might have been the one that called the most when we were first starting this thing off uh about this time last year so uh missed the calls from him got a chance to see him at at the at the game I mean at practice yesterday wearing that storyline t-shirt I loved it uh perfect so his question is is is looking at at the practice squad there's just so many veterans on the practice squad what are your thoughts on that and that's just the product of the new rules I mean the rules state it used to be you you could only be in the league for like two years and you could only play maybe eight games or so so practice squad was really a developmental Squad and what what was happening is is that it was just becoming they were just squeezing out older players and now this is a way and it this is something that that developed during covid but this is a way to keep these older guys give them a chance to stay on a roster I mean you've got some Carl Lawson's on the practice squad right now and so is Dalvin cook and and um and Phil Hoskins and and you know just just guys that that have played a lot so that's they're just using the rules to their advantage and and having some some veteran players I mean these are these free agent type guys that they didn't sign in March and April and now they're kind of adding to their team right now so just a different approach but I like I like what they're doing all right Bob uh Bob in Rio Grand Valley Bob morning Nick how you doing buddy good how are you I'm doing great and uh I really got inspired a few minutes ago by a call uh from one of our listeners that uh the fellow was talking about how much the the show meant to him and helping him get through this fight with cancer yeah I want to well I want to say something for all of us that really enjoy this program you know it gives us a chance to be a part of something feel like we're contributing ask questions get better informed and listen to other people's opinions so I want to compliment you for thank you the idea of the storyline and bringing this to boy uh raised in a small town just like I was but as far as this money thing is concerned uh I look back and I admire the way Tom Brady handled it when he was with the Patriots uh he left some coin on the table to spread around and get stronger teammates and help the team as a whole uh dak's a great quarterback I wouldn't trade him for any other quarterback in the league but I don't think it he I'm with Jerry Jones win me a damn Super Bowl and then we'll talk $65 million until you do that buddy 55 56 that's all you're going to get and with that I'll say goodbye all right all right thank you Bob thanks for uh saying those nice things earlier as for the Dak situation you know I think when Brady was doing that he his his his hand was pretty shiny okay I think he had a few rings there when he was doing that and it was all about just getting more and being being the goat which which it worked out for him um it's you know and he didn't care about the the quarterback Market he didn't care about what it looked like what what you had to do if he you know so I I don't know about taking less money or how much less money he should take Hometown discount I don't know all that you know the pressure that that Dak has I mean all those wins that we just detailed it's never been enough he's never been good enough so he deals with a lot more than anybody has to to to deal with and you know for him it's it's it's worth being you know fairly compensated if not even you know higher than than others so so I wouldn't I wouldn't I don't get into that kind of stuff what what Dak has to go through was was something I couldn't even imagine so you know he needs to be fair uh fairly compensated if not way higher than that and I think that's kind of where they're going to be and I think it'll be fine at the end of the day I think he's going to get his money and I think it'll happen I still think it'll happen before the season starts I still believe that for Dak let's go last caller favorite sports uh films and so today me being on twice in a row two days in a row reminds me of my favorite quote from one of my favorite movies which is we've won two games if we win one more game that's called a winning streak it has happened before I don't know maybe tomorrow I'll get it done maybe we'll get it we'll bowl a turkey nice well that it'll have to be Tuesday that's our next show oh that's right next one will be on Tuesday well I'll give it a call then all right I wanted to say two things one that I'm excited about that I think could be a potential opportunity with the new kickoff Rule and what I'm hoping to see is for these kick return teams to potentially bring in the option play where we got one guy flipping the ball to another I think that would be really interesting if we saw something like that with Turpin and Duce vau back there yeah you know that might be fun you know that seems like something bone fossil would you know maybe throw in there yeah I could see that for sure uh and the other thing is I think I'm one of the things I'm most excited about with the retooling in the offensive line and our running back room is that I think I think Mike McCarthy is going to build a grind out style running game which I think is something that will deeply help Dak who is an excellent play action pass quarterback his stats bear that out he's one of the best when he has a play action uh option to his game and I think that's going to open up the the passing game even more as well and I'm going to call it right now I made a big prediction yesterday I'm going to call it today CD lamb 1,800 yards 15 touchdowns this season I love it I love it's here's what's funny about that you're probably not wrong that that that's a great it's a great comparon I mean it's a it's a great prediction but you just said that Mike McCarthy is goingon to have this grinded out run running attack and then all of a sudden you got a receiver going 18800 yards and I don't know how many catches they both could be true um I think the the key is stats are great when it's when you have to get CD the ball can he get open and make the play and make the catch and when you have to run the ball and you have to run out the clock and win the game do you have the ability to do that the best teams are the ones that can do both get their star receiver involved and run out the clock when they're down at the goal line or run the ball punch it in whatever you've got to do the Cowboys need to be both in the playoffs neither one existed in the playoff game and that's where they got to get better at right and I think it's the it's the the classic 90s style Cowboys offense which is throw early run late and I think that's what we're going to see this year I'm super excited about I love your enthusiasm I love you bringing the challenge back to me but I'm still calling my shot Nick 18505 touchdowns CD lamb it's GNA be incredible love it I love it and and in the 90s I mean you're saying this is what it was in the 90s where's EMT that's all I'm looking for if you find me an EMT or anything close to that that that's great I'm not trying I'm not trying to to to tear down everything you you're excited I'm excited we're all excited but all I'm saying is is that um they just got to be able to do both if if CD has 1600 yards and he has 10 catches that's 25 less than he had last year but the team runs the ball a lot more remember yards are going to go down because field position's going to change kick returners are going to have you you're flipping kick return from Deuce to Turpin around the corner you're going to start at the 50 a lot more times you're going to have less yards so people have to remember that what's up with the yards kick return turns are going to take a lot of that with field position but either way just score PS just score some PRS at the end of the game win the game and it's all good I we're fired up to you let's go it must be football
