Analyzing The Jacksonville Jaguars Preseason Depth Chart

what is going on everybody it is tree from tree talks here and we are back talking about your favorite team my favorite team and your mom's favorite team the Jacksonville Jaguars we are two days away from the start of the NFL preseason at least for the Jags and they have released their first um official depth chart heading into to that preseason game and basically what we're going to do is dissect um these position groups uh kind of go position by position and kind of assess where the Jags are at currently and see you know if they are better or a little bit worse at certain positions than they were a year ago starting things off at the quarterback position the money man the man that just got paid Trevor Lawrence obviously the starter with backup Mac Jones uh right there with him and CJ bethard at the number three uh CJ bethard when he came in for uh Trevor Lawrence when he was down or you know when Trevor Lawrence just stunk it up pretty bad and he had to come in during some garbage time snaps was a pretty serviceable backup uh love me some CJ Beth for the morale you know not saying he's a great quarterback but do love him for the team uh but I am very excited to see kind of what M Jones can bring to the table here you know seeing if he's kind of nipping at the heels of Trevor Lawrence a little bit and seeing if he could you know maybe rise to the occasion and be a guy that uh you know not only if Trevor Lawrence gets hurt but maybe a guy that uh if Trevor Lawrence does even play up to expectations can take the Reigns at the quarterback position but you know if that happens then the Jags are in shambles and we really really don't want that that would be Bad News Bears for the Jags and uh we really don't want that to happen but Matt Jones's backup quarterback uh has to be one of the better backups in the league and it seems like he's having fun in Jacksonville kind of seems like you know we're getting to know a newer side of Mr Mac Jones so you know I think he's going to go out there with some confidence he's going to go out there you know with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder and he should play a little bit more loose uh in this Jacksonville offense so going to going to be keeping a sharp eye on M Jones and how he uh plays this season I think the quarterback room got better with the addition of Mac Jones um we'll see how Trevor Lawrence does and how he prepares this season and if he uh brings his game to the next level to see if he can be that perennial generational amazing quarterback uh that we all think he can be going over now to the running backs and not a whole lot of change has happened there uh Travis etn tank B bsby and deest Johnson along with Jaylen Jackson keln Robinson and Gary Brightwell uh are in that run running back room but really The Big Three there uh Travis etn tank and deest Johnson um in that order Travis etn the starter got a I think a 90 or a 91 overall in Madden which is cool to see him get that recognition uh he's been putting in the work I think over 1,700 allpurpose yards last year I mean he's a guy that's uh excellent in fantasy football you know I think I haven't done any fantasy football mock drafts this year but I mean if you can sneak him in like you know the mid rounds or even a third round second round pick I would I would take a chance on him I think he's going to be uh be a really big factor for the Jags this year and very excited to see what he can do in this offense uh as far as tankk bsby right now being the number two running back hate that I hate when he's on the field uh seemed like every time he was on the field he'd make a mistake uh however with the Ernest Johnson uh he is a guy that every time he touched the ball seemed like he was making plays seemed like he was uh turning a corner and really kind of making a name for himself at the running back position wouldn't be surprised if he got more snaps than tank by Year's End or maybe even kind of took over as that uh Second running back over uh tanks bsby by the end of the season but as of right now again it goes etn bigs beat deis Johnson and as far as that broom getting better not a whole lot of turnover not a whole lot of key additions so basically staying the same uh the running back position for the Jags now going over to the wide receiver room and a group that I thought really needed to improve this season and uh it's a group that I I am known to overrate uh as the years have gone on whether that be in 2011 or even last year I always seem to have a better outlook on these pass catchers than mosad do uh the starting three receivers as of now look like it's going to be Gabe Davis Brian Thomas J near the rookie and Christian Kirk underneath them uh though it kind of gets a little shaky Elijah Cooks Devon du more of a special team's guy Parker Washington and then you know you got guys like Tim Jones Denzel Ms in the mix uh Brevin Easton who's a rookie and undrafted guy who I think uh has a lot of talent from the University of Albany uh he's a guy I've seen play live and uh very talented cat very good at the wide receiver position hopefully kind of earns a spot either on the practice squad or maybe as a fifth sixth receiver option uh excited to see what he can do in the preseason so I think he's a guy that uh can earn a spot and uh maybe help us down the stretch But after those three guys I mean Gabe Davis Bryan Thomas Jr and Christian Kirk uh kind of a lot of question marks there I think there's a lot of people that are saying uh Parker Washington's having a good camp but uh you know not a whole lot of faith in Parker Washington uh not a lot of faith in wide receivers 4 through I don't know what 11 you know these are these are guys that are not that great I think even last year the Jags had probably a better wide receiving core than they do this year um they're going to be very heavily relying on the fact that these three uh guys stay healthy because you know if you're getting into the Parker Washingtons Elijah Cooks Tim Jones uh Devon du Denzel Mims I mean you you're really really trouble and uh very shaky on these wide receivers I think it's a group that got a little bit worse uh in 2024 going over to the tight ends Evan Ingram Josiah doraa and Patrick myto uh you know if Evan Ingram gets hurt seems like we are in shambles as far as a receiving tight end goes uh oh sorry there there's more there's a second tight end option here John shiply I copied and pasted uh your dep chart here you had me in shambles uh Luke frell Breton strange how'd I forget about Breton strange the most non-impact second round draft pick in the history of the Jags uh Shawn Bowman and Chris Myrick um Luke frell is a guy that every time he kind of comes onto the field Trevor Lawrence finds him uh Brenton strange don't really know what he can do haven't heard a whole lot about him in Camp uh Evan Ingram needs to stay healthy needs to continue his development in this track that he's on because right now he's playing the best football that he has in his entire career so um it's a tight end group hasn't really changed much uh I will say that it has stayed the same going over to the offensive line here here's the starters at left tackle cam Robinson uh left guard Ezra Cleveland at Center Mitch Morris at Right Guard uh Brandon sheriff and at right tackle Anton Harrison um like that starting unit think it's a pretty solid group I think it's a group that could be better than a year ago um Ezra Cleveland came on a little bit later in the season and I think you know with this group playing together uh for a full season could be uh could grow and could be better uh we got some guys some key uh dep pieces obviously Walker little I think can kind of chew in at the guard or The Tackle Spot uh Tyler Shatley and then of course you got Luke uh forner as a backup center who is the worst center in football so hopefully Mitch Morris can stay healthy and this offense line can Thrive and at least be in a top 20 to top 16 unit in the NFL um seems like all the starters are serviceable all the starters should play well and it should be a group that improves uh this season going in now to the defensive line at nose tackle we have Devon Hamilton um at defensive tackle Eric Armstead defensive end Josh Allen and defensive end Trayvon Walker this is the deepest group that we have I mean just some of the backups here at the nose tackle uh Jeremiah Leed better who uh always kind of has a decent preseason defensive tackle obviously Roy Robertson Harris he's going to get some snaps he plays well when he's on the field um and then outside on the defensive end you know we really we kind of lack another dominant pass rusher on the edge unfortunately you know most of the uh you know with Eric Armstead boy Robinson Harris that's a good onew punch there at the D tackle but outside of Josh Allen and Trayvon Walker I mean you got Deshawn Dixon DJ Coleman Raymond Johnson who are these people outside of Trayvon Allen you got Trevis Gibson Rasheen green and Miles Cole who are these people you know they they have to stay healthy they have to contribute and uh hopefully they do because again I'll say it one more time who are these people I don't know and then going into the linebackers uh we got foyer Chad Muma at the will and uh at the Sam we also got Chad Muma and your steer Abdullah and Tanner Muse at the will Devon Lloyd could also play that position and then we got Caleb Johnson uh Tanner Muse or Ty Summers um you know you're looking at basically I think foyer Alon uh Chad Muma and Devon Lloyd basically are the guys uh Chad Muma Deon Lloyd same draft class I think that's kind of where he wanted these linebackers to be at uh you haven't seen a whole lot of Muma in his career uh at least playing linebacker so far Devon Lloyd's a guy I think that's just gotten better as he's gotten more snaps Foy alon's one of the most underrated players in the NFL uh another group that doesn't have a whole lot of depth to it um be interesting to see how those three play uh probably a group that stayed the same or possibly got a little worse we'll see we'll see how that group uh develops season now going over the corners uh you got Ronald Dar Derby MRI Brown Christian brasswell jeren Jones Tyson Campbell Amman or I'm not even going to try Trey flowers Trevon Campbell and donante Terry Prince uh Ronald Derby Tyson Campbell I think Jan Jones is also he's a rookie but has a chance to make some names and uh Christian brasswell as the nickel um you kind of got you know Tyson Campbell Ronald Derby who you know he's all right he's fine he's got experience jeren Jones I think is a guy that they're kind of banking on to be a good draft pick for them but uh this is why I think we should have taken a corner in the first round when we had our original pick but uh we didn't and you know we didn't try to go out and get any bigname Corners either and uh yeah it's it's it's not good this is a not very good uh cornerback room and I think we are going to struggle against the pass even with uh the safeties that we have which I think are pretty good uh Darnell Savage Andrew Wingard a uh reliable safety Terrell Edmond Andre Cisco Anton John Antonio Johnson uh Daniel Thomas you know we have some very solid safeties uh but our Corners are not very good so the safeties are going to have to really pick up the slack of the corners this season to really uh make an impact in the passing game uh at least on the defensive side of the ball so we will see there are definitely definitely some weaknesses here on this Jaguar dep chart uh Corner sticks out linebacker sticks out the death behind Josh Allen and Trayvon Walker definitely sticks out um I wouldn't say offensive lines really i' put offensive line kind of as one of the strength as a starting five maybe um tight end tight end depth is fine uh wide receiver I would say and then uh running backs underneath Travis etn if I had to rank these positions just by just you know by starters and by depth I would probably say our best position is probably probably the defensive defensive tackles probably are best and then I would probably put defensive end just cuz you got Josh Allen and Trayvon Walker there but then under them it's like a little shaky and then quarterback and then probably the offensive line probably running back receiver oh safety too you know I'm doing this off cuff guys you know I'm not doing this I haven't had that listened I think safety is one of our biggest strengths I think the defensive line is one of our biggest strengths um the offensive line I think has potential to be pretty solid um but our biggest weakness is uh absolutely the corners uh the wide receivers I think if they don't stay healthy could be a problem and uh you know defense end too but they don't stay healthy health is going to be a big thing the Jags have a late bye as well ladies and gentlemen so it's going to be this could be a season that is slow this could be a slow Jag season especially with the uh the schedule that we had you know I I I uh I haven't Dove too much into the Jags this year and I'll admit it but uh all signs to me Point towards possibly a long season what do you guys think let me know in the comments section down below and I hope you guys have a great rest of your day
