between these iconic Hedges the field or some of college football's greats have called home Sanford Stadium in Athens Georgia where these fans are ready to turn the dogs loose today two teams Collide in an oldfashioned SEC Showdown as we'll see the Kentucky Wildcats taking on the number one team in the land the Georgia Bulldogs for sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up Georgia likely to kick it deep to get things [Applause] started and no chance inter return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 so kuy's offense is on the field for the first time today and here's the man they want to get the ball to in this passing game this is the type of receiver David when he's covered he's still open I'm still he's still putting that hand up in the air coach I'm still open and more importantly his quarterback knows that they're going to move him all over the field they're going to feature him on offense they're going to make sure he gets a lot of touches whether he's open or whether he's open cuz he's always they go right back to him defense there to stop him after a 2yd gain to the 31 this crowd going to try to make life miserable for these guys to the air it's Vander grip and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense Kentucky sends out the pting unit not able to pop the big return but they've got the ball back and ready to go with a fresh possession the Bulldogs offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today this is just a great matchup to watch on the outside and who can win downfield in the passing game man this reminds me of 1997 Charles Woodson versus David Boston two physical athletes that are going be going Toe to Toe all game one yeah two Alphas two guys that play the positions where you have to have such confidence cornerback wide receiver let's see this throw down he's looking for a man on second down sails one into the middle it's complete a huge pickup and he was on his way gets it all the way to the 38 first down and 10 easy looking to move it through the air pocket starts to collapse hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver they'll try again on second down after the incompletion looking for a physical attack from the gun I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long he's going to have to throw for It Wide Open downfield and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play the dogs are moving quickly down the field leaves it with the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and it wasn't lack of effort by the running back he was trying you could tell he fought one guy off but another guy in his face right away just trying to do something the offensive line needs to do a better job keeping some guys off this guy come on man take care of your running back this defense has got to get better at tackling in the open field or gang tackling because if you need three or four guys to bring a guy down have fun with that and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short let less than a yard to go for a first down and the offense will remain on the field the give and the run on fourth down and he takes it to the house touchdown Georgia and the running back was not going to be denied on that play he had a hole he saw it he put his foot in the ground and that was p and the extra point makes it seven nothing about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 Kentucky has it back in the Big Blue offense takes the field the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum got it just one play and they got it almost to Midfield first down from the 49 wide receiver coming across in motion wide open on the move he has it on the Jet Sweep after trying the running game let's see if they do it again on second down receiver going for the edge on the Jet Sweep dragged down at the 39 but he's got five yards and they'll move the sticks Kentucky back at it with a fresh set of downs here comes the option and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three they'll give it to the back defense there to make the stop after a pick up of two to the 30 this is the type of play that decides games are you tough enough to convert third and short from the 30 they'll try to run for it moving deeper into enemy territory move the chain it's first down at the 27 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs unlock they've got him looking run now they're going to throw it he snares it in the end zone touchdown Wildcats and you want these guys that can take the top off of Defense it changes the way they're going to play coverage on you and he does it right here just runs by the DB he had no chance to try to catch up with him makes the big play down the field and this will change the way you play defense against this guy the rest of the game from him inside the 10 here he comes able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 and Georgia ready to go go back to work on offense that last touchdown Drive was surgical through the air Jesse it sure was and that's why this offense is so dangerous David because they can score in a hurry because of how efficient they are throwing the football and welcome to Modern college football that's what it is spread you out find my Playmakers make quick decisions and really put defenses in a difficult situation One Step rep Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All-American in this brief David if I were allowed to have Push passes when I was playing quter Mo I tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead com around and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line to the air it's Beck looking down the middle holds it in he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go pass defense and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the areir you simply can't do it and the referee's caught absolutely nothing settled deadlock that after one period of play as we have a look at the stats it's first and 10 for this offense from the 42 pressure coming oh man what a missed opportunity big fella almost got to run with the ball instead it falls incomplete and brings up second down still looking on the Move got out of trouble and throws this time on target he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down this Georgia offense moving quickly down the field used the play fake now to throw looking to the big tight end grabbed in the middle it's Del they make the stop at the 5 yd line but they've got it first and goal on the doorstep of cashing it in for the offense they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal he pushes it forward all the way to the 2yd line second and goal coming up tries again to get it in going right back to the well and this time he finds water gets it into the end zone for the touchdown and what a push up front by this offensive line everyone playing in unison driving out of their stance working into the second level hats on hats creating a lane for that running back and the pat gives him a 147 lead lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown [Applause] drive and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 Kentucky sends the offense back out onto the field after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense a rest and that's a real thing man like you played a lot of plays you get worn out you need a chance to go decompress in the sideline get some oxygen Palmer now it's on this offense yeah this is the definition of complimentary football cuz it's a two-prong problem you've got to score points and answer but you've also got to take your time and give your defense an opportunity to get their win somebody needs to make a play here it's third and long from the 26 trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short Kentucky will be forced to punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away pretty solid coverage there and they'll stop him at the 26 we're ready to get another look at this Bulldog offense man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David yeah and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like me and Jesse talking about create balance you know run and pass no when you throw that good spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarterback on this drive because last drive he had way too oh and he gets downfield for the Big Catch and they're getting it rolling with that play to the 42 yd line that big play is just what they needed now they have it first 10 just outside the 40 catch in the middle it's etn and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up I want to get my running backs the ball in space as much as possible and sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to him I can try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays at him good job on defense getting a hand on it tipping it up in the air they weren't able to pick it off but they do Force the incompletion they want to just keep throwing it oh he's ready to take a shot and incomplete on the Deep ball so they're going to send out the field goal unit to try a long one and the try is no good and the margin remains at seven after the Miss Kentucky has it back in the Big Blue offense takes the field boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive he's got the tight end and that is good versatility there and a big hit from the backer in pass coverage better find the ear pluged here comes the noise backing this def def on third down back to throw it's Vandergriff quarterback moving out of the pocket and he can find a receiver and down he goes we reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game and they have a chance to take the lead here before the half Kentucky sends out the pting unit he'll bring it back it's Evans they're able to put a stop to that return right at the 30 yd line and Georgia ready to go back to work on offense you want to talk about taking the wind out of your sails Drive the ball down the field and miss the field goal David you know what don't leave it up to Kickers execute better offensively I think you move the ball nice you got to keep that in mind but Palmer I think you got to stay aggressive and don't settle for field goals yeah because you got to know there's just no margin for error right now you just have got to be able to execute at a height throws toward the end zone and he's got it touchdown dog quarterbacks love receivers that can get separation but that amount of Separation uh is a little excessive I agree Ree and I think the defense needs to have a little powwow on the sidelines and talk about what just happened because that was an absolute busted coverage on the back end defense can't keep playing like that that gamble did not pay off as they bring him down at the 12 yd line first down here for the off offense they'll crank up this drive with the pass dances away from the Heat and he's all bottled up and now it's worse the ball's loose defense coming up with a huge fumble recovery the defense striking with a scoop and score touchdown and defense is about getting guys to the football sometimes you just get that hit the ball pops out more guys swow into the football great effort scoop that thing up now do some damage with it you always wanted to play offense anyways convert that defensive player offensive player give me that six not nearly as much as he'd hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 Kentucky sends the offense back out onto the field they find themselves in a pretty deep hole here but maybe a chance to grab a little momentum and regroup at halftime yeah a big chance like this is this is an opportunity this is the biggest opportunity in front of them in the game right now you got to get some points on the the board you got to create something positive Jesse there hasn't been a whole lot to be positive about in the first half if I'm playing quarterback I'm locating my go-to guy receiver who can I count on one-on-one to go and make me a play maybe even one on two who can go up catch the ball get us some yards and get us some points tight end finds a soft spot they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half let's see what they've got on second down back to throw it's Vander grip grabs it in the middle good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch Kentucky right back to the line they'll throw it on first down trying to get to it and the defense gets to the quarterback we've got a timeout here l in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break 29 want to fire on second down quickly complete he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense and the Wildcats come to the line with a fresh set of downs going up top on first down catch in the middle it's brown nice job by the receiver on the in route there and how about the speed after made his break he was able to actually separate a little bit from the DB helping out his QB on that one he wants to pass it on second down and the quarterback runs out of time and down he goes at the 38 this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field they're trying to get to it and he feels the heat coming and it burns him up another sack oh he missed it no good couldn't find the range on the field goal couldn't cut into the deficit and they are still down by 21 Kentucky will boot it deep to get the second half underway on the move from inside is five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 we're ready to get another look at this Bulldog offense they're bringing heat and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete after missing the connection last time it's second and 10 from the 22 fires to the wide out and this senior quarterback a little too bold there and he's lucky he didn't get picked off throwing into double coverage third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off he's missed three in a row now with that last incompletion Georgia sends out the punt [Applause] team slips through the line looking for Running Room he'll get it to the 43 yd line before he stop so the first play of the drive will come from the 43 this quarterback part of their running game a run up the middle is stuck for No Gain ready line getting set on second down looking downfield it's Vander grip working the middle it's complete didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few third down and this offense is already in a world of trouble they could really use the conversion not to mention multiple looking to take a shot fires and picked off bringing it back and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception offense set on first down used the play fake now to throw can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if theyd throw it again getting some heat he got his hands on it but couldn't hold on to it and what a time that would have been for their first pick of the game now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass throws to the wide out couldn't quite haul it in they almost had their first pick here late in the game Georgia lining up to punt it away here's the fair Catch and he'll make it close to the 20 yd line Kentucky has it back and the big blue offense takes the field after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find said a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that that's a part of it right you're going to be a great player you got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on out of the gun the running back has it smashes him with the stiff arm and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 he's going to pass coming after him and he can't escape and down he goes they got more sacks than a grocery store goodness gracious time and time again getting to the quarterback getting him on the ground this defense having their way a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down Kentucky will be forced to punt he'll bring it back it's Evans that's a perfect example of not settling for a fair catch pick up whatever yardage you can and help out the offense and Georgia ready to go back to work on offense they go to the ground nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry a negative play to open the Drive let's see what they've got on second and 14 back to throw it's back feeling some heat nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one outside the pocket lets it go another incompletion on third down Georgia sends out the punt team he's going to try to flip the field with this one not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch they'll put this one in play first snap of the drive from the 25 go the lone backs got it works ahead for a couple they'll stop him at the 27 and the defense doing a great job committing into the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup offense getting set for first down they'll try the Run they wrestle him to the ground but he's got plenty for a first down the Wildcat has come to the line with a new set of downs they'll run it from the gun after the pickup of nine it's second and one you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense the big pick up on first down leaves them with second and one motion trying to get the defense to show his hand using the quick game he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play nice job by the defense staying to to him getting him on the ground as soon as he catches the football knowing he's a threat I'm not going to let this guy get out of my sights nice job at the be to throw it's Vander grip he's going to let one fly down the middle into double coverage and they made him pay it's intercepted takes it the other way he'll finally go out of bound but he was showing off all the skills after that interception well the free saf is just sitting back there deep in cover three he's got Zone he's got Middlefield responsibility just watching the quarterback's eyes he GS the throw breaks on it that's just too easy [Applause] [Applause] we're ready to get another look at this Bulldog offense they had to punt it away on their last possession but man what great field position this time I mean this is awesome like last possession didn't go great now you're set up in an opportunity to get some points start thinking about what plays I like Jesse as I cross the 50 there are a lot of offensive coordinators out there David and in this position they like to take a shot right away and try and capitalize on this field [Applause] position off the play fake and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback back and down he goes this defense they are tenacious and they've got guys up front that are athletic and that are so strong and then can collapse the pocket you saw it right there in that play action attempt the as they get set to snap it time winding down here in the quarter Cricket on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the St he wants to go deep can't make the play on the interception and man they were looking for their first pick of the game instead it'll be fourth down Georgia lining up to punt it away three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out excellent coverage and tackle that time and that's how the third quarter comes to a close well guys it's Georgia holding the lead at the end of the quarter and they are starting to pull away as we come to the end of the third quarter let's take a look at how we got [Music] here back at it to open the quarter with this first down play dropping back it's Vander grip zings it complete to the right and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there here's the deal you're down three possessions you know it doesn't feel likely they're going to come back and win but we've seen crazier stuff happen in college football it all starts with a big completion on a two-minute Drive they'll get the momentum started in your direction looking at a second and short now here's a snap ready to cut one loose caught near the sticks it's trainum that's a kind of play that can really get you going as they have a first down at the 43 here's the offense with a fresh set of downs to the air on first down working the middle of the field and it's complete he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down trying to get a rhythm in the passing game now on second down come on he's looking to throw and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down now this offense tries to figure out a way to move the chains after the second down misfire oh they really could have used that catch there physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down no sign of the punt team as they will go for it and try to move those chains on fourth down looking to pass complete out of the back field looking for the sticks makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before before he's dragged to the ground and the Wildcats are on the Move they're going to throw it again he'll off one deep down the left side and it's picked off again his night vision hasn't been on par looking for a productive play on first down takes a hand off it's etn gives him some room to operate as he rumbles ahead for six to the 15 yd line got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive a knock him down after a gain of three to the 23 after the three- yd pick up they come to the line Second and seven they keep it on the ground clock is there friend Jes his way for more he'll move it up to the 37 yd line and it'll be a first down Georgia coming out with the fresh set of downs the give to the bat he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down this drive has been exclusively on the ground could they be setting up a shot play they're going to go right back to him on first down carrying the ball with Attitude down to the 42 8yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and short that's got to be demoralizing if you're the defense you're trailing you need to get the ball back you got to get off the field but you can't stop the run when they're going between the tackles this defense is going to have to get a lot more physical especially in the middle maybe this will breathe a little life into this offense which has been flatlined in the second half here's first and 10 time to take a shot they've avoided the interception all day but they were lucky to get that one back here late it'll be second down eighth play of the drive coming up right back to the air on second and 10 hit as he throws picked off no real chance on the return but they've got it at the 34 well he was rolling to his right and because of that I don't know if it affected the timing between him and his wide receiver they just weren't on the same page on that one as the defense comes away with the int [Applause] Kentucky sends the offense back out onto the field that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no You' got to be able to finish drives especially in this game if you're going to win in David they've got to be able to eliminate the metal mistakes yeah and I don't think you get conservative or play it safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing and after the incompletion on first down this offense looking at second down pocket starts to collapse makes the catch it's trainer they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally herly come to the line at the 42 facing a third and short they'll try to pick up the first through the air got his Man downfield flying down the right side touchdown Kentucky and once he got loose it was all over that's number two on the day having a day I mean you know he's going to catch the football and you know he's going to make plays after he catches those are the kind of guys that you feature and you find him and they produce like this you keep finding not much drives more anxiety than waiting to see if the hands team can Corral the onside kick and they do and Georgia ready to go back to work on offense boy they had that last Drive moving a little bit David but then the mistake just crushed them yeah those mistakes are going to happen you're going to throw the football you're going to throw interceptions but I think I stay aggressive with this offense I get back to what I did in the first part of that drive what made me successful I agree David just turn the page if you're a quarterback right on this drive you did a lot of good things he's got it on the right he makes a catch in the end zone touchdown Bulldogs there's no mercy rule in college football man theyve got a huge lead here in the fourth quarter they are still chucking it and they are still scoring about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return the drive starts from their own 25 yd line here we go he wants to start this drive with a pass and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down pressure nowhere to go and the ball is loose it's as if that ball had a magnet going back to the offense how in the world did they keep it on Third and long no secret what he needs here still on his feet at the 45 and the tackle is made but not before that completion gets them 30 plus the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is precious pulls it in it's white carrying the ball with an edge and hammering his way to the 40 clock is still running and they have to get everybody lined up he's looking for an open man on second down oh he's going to take a shot at the DB he's got it downfield for a huge game and the catch and run into the end zone touchdown Kentucky nice job by the offense going down the field oh they block it he's got it and he can go with it and the defense is able to go out and shut the door they put the clamps down they've got a big lead and with that fumble they're going to win the game you've got to give this defense credit for finishing cool as a cucumber as the hands team makes a sure catch yeah and this is why you put your hands team on the field most of the time when you know it's coming and you put those guys that are great catchers of the football the first guys what do they do they go block they go blow somebody up the next guys catch the football secure it get your butt on the ground and most of the time when you do this the ball game is over I'd expect we're going to get another dose of the running game at this point even though it's second and 11 and they'll wrestle him to the ground after a short game and that's exactly what I want from my offense like listen they're out of timeouts I want this clock to tick now we have seen some college coaches across college football continue to run the foot sends it down field and they can't hook up on the big big play and that brings up a fourth down and they'll Pat the kicker on the tail and tell him to go give it a shot and this field goal attempt might just seal the deal by making it a three-score game lead and it's no good and after the Miss field goal guys the lead still at 15 well that's now the second Miss field goal for this kicker and I tell you this he can't blame the weather for all this this is a beautiful day he needs to do better executing these field goals finally run out out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down he's looking to throw it unloads to the wide out it's caught downfield good solid pick up there now they can start to smell it with a first down at the 31 and they spike it and get the clock [Applause] stopped now on second down looking to throw it's Vandergriff trying to get to it and here's a fumble way behind the line oh look what I found the offense keeps it the wild cats will hustle to the line and they'll spike the ball to try to save as much time as they can one more play to pad the stats on fourth down they'll try to throw it a shot toward the end zone and the pass goes incomplete looking to make things look a little tighter on the scoreboard but that's going to do it a strong methodical workmanlike effort from this team No Frills just get the job done and get the win I love when you describe my teams like that just consistent you know methodical strong I don't have to do things special every single week all I'm supposed to do is get the W and that's what they did and this is why practice is so important guys you can tell that this team was locked in way back earlier in the week they watched the film they got good looks in practice they knew what to anticipate they knew what looks they were going to see
