I read Blackwood Farm by Anne Rice so you don't have to.

oh hello YouTube today on the naughty library and we are recapping and reviewing Blackwood Farm by Anne Rice I am continuing on in my vampire Chronicles journey and this book in particular we're meeting some brand new characters and bringing back a bunch of characters we've already met in particular this book is heavily interconnected with the Mayfair witches overall I actually really did like this one I think our main character Quinn is very likable and the story was captivating I mean it's still in rice so um is there still gross sex stuff yup there is this is how she writes but anyways we'll get into that let's talk about what actually happened in Blackwood Farm book starts off with us meeting our new protagonist Quinn Blackwood and he's a young guy um he's a relatively new vampire as well I think he's around like 21 to 22 ish and he's been a vampire for like maybe a year at this point so it was easy you know he's a little baby Quinn is in quiet quite a predicament right now uh basically Quinn has been haunted by this spirit that he calls Goblin like his whole life and he grew up with Goblin and When Quinn became a vampire Goblin started to acquire a taste for human blood as well and Goblin keeps attacking Quinn every time he feeds and he's also capable of doing harm to others so Quinn's like I need to get rid of goblin ASAP and Quinn doesn't really have anywhere to turn to so he decides okay this is what I'm gonna do I'm gonna write a letter to Lestat because apparently everybody knows who Lestat is he's like famous in the vampire world everybody knows Lestat and he's going to write him a letter he's like dear Lestat I need help you'd probably understand and he like explains his situation Quinn goes to lestat's old apartment in New Orleans mind you he had already moved out of this apartment at the end of Merrick so it's kind of empty but he still owns it so he goes there and he's like he's leaving a letter for Lestat so hopefully he'll find it but there's a snag in this plan because Quinn when he's in the apartment he comes across this talamaska agent named Sterling Oliver and Quinn and Sterling are well acquainted with each other they have met on many occasions and like Sterling he is another Aaron he is a great guy we like him a lot and he hasn't really seen Quinn since he has turned into a vampire and since Sterling you know is talamazca he knows like immediately this kid is a vampire but the thing is also at the end of Merrick the talabaska declared war on vampires they were pissed off so they're kind of like hunting them now so Quinn sterling sterling knows too much Quinn's really hungry uh oh Sterling's gonna have to die but as he's feeding someone comes up behind him and grabs his shoulder and just like tosses him across the room and guess who it is everybody it's Lestat he is making an appearance right the beginning of this book I'm obsessed so his dad's like hey Sterling run along leave I have saved you from being eaten go tell your talamazca pals that you need to call off this open season on vampires it will end poorly for you it only hasn't ended poorly so far because David has asked me not to murder you all that's it that's the only thing so go back and tell them that and also don't tell anybody about Quinn and you can live go along run away Sterling's like okay you know what that's a great idealist that I'm gonna do all those things and he like leaves and Lestat meets Quinn officially and like list that kind of really takes a liking to Quinn immediately and so does everybody Quinn is such a likable character you root for him and if anyone tries to harm harm him you will rip their bones out of their body like that's how he feel like everyone wants to protect Quinn unless that is giving full-on Big Brother Vibes to Quinn's little brother it's like an immediate thing so I'm like okay I'm like loving this relationship the list that takes about to Leo get dinner and right after Quinn is done eating uh Goblin appears to like suck the blood out of him and it's really graphic it's like sucking little droplets of blood like basically like out of all of his pores a Quinn he takes the stat back to Blackwood Manor his like Family Estate and Lestat gets to meet Quinn's favorite person in the whole wide world his aunt Queen and Aunt Queen is cool she is a very sophisticated older woman daring adventurous she still wears stilettos and loves cameos and stuff and she's like 80 something years old she's dope so now that like listad is fully invested in both Quinn and ant Queen he really wants to learn the backstory here what's been going on tell me your whole life story so they go over to Quinn's bedroom and before they can get into like all the storytelling Goblin attacks again sucking blood out of Quinn and Lestat can see Goblin whilst he's sucking the blood so he uses his fire gift where you could like set blood on fire with your mind on Goblin so all the bloody just sucked out he sets on fire and goblins like oh and like fleas away and now that we have the premise set up it is now time to backtrack and do Quinn's entire life story so quit has always been able to see ghosts and spirits in particular there's this one ghost named Goblin who has always been with Quinn his entire life his first memory is of his third birthday where Goblin was able to like take control of his hand and smash his birthday cake with it the thing with Goblin is that he's really um jealous I would say he wants to be the center of Quinn's attention at all times and he is really upset when something else comes along to take that attention away and that causes Goblin to start acting out in somewhat violent ways however I do want to point out here that Goblin hasn't always been like this malevolent Spirit um Goblin has also been you know Quinn's only friend at times like they're very close to each other they are like best friends and it's not always like a bad relationship so since and keep seeing ghosts and especially Goblin you know he can't go to regular school he keeps getting kicked out because he keeps talking to imaginary friends all day it's a whole issue so his family is also insanely wealthy so they decide they're just going to get private tutors for his whole life on Queen needs to get back to her Jet Set lifestyle so she finds the perfect tutor to help Quinn and her name is Lanell and Lynette is straight up Miss honey realness she is so great she teaches him about everything under the sun and not just like you know academic stuff but there's also culture in art and like films and like all these different things that you wouldn't get taught in a normal academic setting she's throwing that in there too so Quinn keeps growing up throughout his childhood and Goblin is growing up right alongside Quinn they basically like look like identical to each other except one's a ghost and it's this point right here when they're like still kids and they're like older kids maybe like 10 or something like it kind it starts deviating because Goblin starts being able to learn faster and more diverse topics than Quinn has been able to learn so far and because Goblin is becoming more powerful and like smarter he also figures out that he can control Quinn's like left hand really easily so he can communicate with people he can write and then things just keep going on like that for like the next seven years not really a lot changes is just Quinn being taught by Lanell and Goblin also being taught by Lanell kind of and also realizing that they have other abilities like they can talk through electronic devices so they can like type on computers and stuff and now Quinn is 17 so like we're getting ready to graduate high school and from this point on like oh boy this like everything started going to [ __ ] for Quinn like one after another let's just get into this tour of misery right after Quinn turns 17 Lanell gets offered this once in a lifetime time Fellowship opportunity to study with the world-renowned neuroscientist Rowan Mayfair over at Mayfair Medical and she's like I I have to take it this opportunity for a lifetime and like Quinn understands and you know he wishes her luck he really loves her but the problem is on her way to the fellowship um she gets in a really really horrific car accident and it doesn't survive and Quinn is devastated Quinn cannot handle this he's like you know it's a lot to take in this is basically his mother figure and she's gone and he's trying to explain this the goblin but goblin can't understand the concept of gone and that kind of puts a wedge in between their relationship because Goblin just doesn't understand and then things get even worse run right after Quinn's 18th birthday his grandmother dies and that sends like the whole family into like grief and enmity between each other because Quinn's home home life is so shitty and he's had all these traumatic experiences he is going through a very deep depression period right now and he's you know he's 18. he's a young man he's kind of just becoming an adult at this point so he's also having that on top of the depression where he has like questions about his own sexuality and like why does he keep seeing ghosts that no one else can see ghosts is this how his whole life's gonna be and he starts getting you know a bit suicidal the Quinn doesn't want to act on that of course so he keeps finding like things to do to take his mind off stuff and he goes to the attic one day he finds this like big old trunk of clothes and jewelry and it all belonged to this woman named Rebecca Stanford the quick tldr I'm Rebecca here um this is like early 1900s era and Rebecca she grew up extremely poor in New Orleans and eventually um for her profession she ends up working in a brothel and a lot along the way she did study etiquette and you know Elegance how to be fancy she knows all of the things about being a lady she just happens to be a sex worker and she thinks like her being so elegant and classy and also like sexy she'll be able to find a rich man who can take her out of the brothel that's her plan enter Manfred Blackwood he is the family patriarch his wife has just passed away and he meets Rebecca at this brothel and he is quite taken with her she's stunningly beautiful she's fancy he's like oh okay like you're gonna be my girl here so he starts buying her like tons of jewelry and he took her on this trip to Europe and then when they got back from Europe Manfred took her to Blackwood Manor and had her move in so she's just living with Manfred in this house but she's not married to him and Manfred refuses to marry her and here's the thing like about Manfred you know like his wife just died maybe he was feeling emotion Channel and he's gotten too far too soon but no let's not feel sorry for Manfred he's actually the worst and I'll explain Manfred has always really had a taste for you know women from the Poor Side of Town who wouldn't necessarily be missed if they went missing so to speak and Manfred had been seen with tons of girls from like you know the poorer districts over the years and they just never saw the girls again then they just figured oh they must have just gone off somewhere else or disappeared and no one bothered to look for them and I think from like the description I've been giving here you can have a good sense of what his Hobbies may be um so Rebecca moves into the manor and Manfred he keeps leaving her for like weeks at a time to go to Sugar devil Island which is like part of the state it's this little island that's really hard to get to and he just leaves for weeks at a time frankly to go to his murder Island like let's be real it's a murder Island and Manfred constantly leaving drives Rebecca to become quite cruel to manfred's kids from his you know his wife who passed away and Rebecca's just all around rotten to be around she becomes this horrible person and mind you you know like is she being driven to this yeah but you know her actions are her own she doesn't need to be cruel to anybody but like I get why Manfred slowly driving her insane and she even like sets the house on fire one day just trying to get attention from Manfred and like the servants all put it out and [ __ ] and they're like oh my God what is wrong with you and they like lock her in a room and don't let her out for like a couple weeks until Manfred finally comes home so Manfred gets home he sees like why is my household [ __ ] burnt and they're like listen pal Rebecca set [ __ ] on fire we locked her up we don't know what to do here and then for the murderer is not very happy with all this so he goes and gets Rebecca out of the room and just beats the snot out of her like it is hard to read because he only stops beating the snot out of her when the servants come and there's enough screaming for the service maybe don't kill her oh my God and mind you the whole time whole time like manfred's hitting her she's telling him that she loves him and she wants to marry him and remember when we were happy in Naples like it's really a hard scene to read but Manfred being the cruel serial killer we all know him to be this does not move him he literally just drags her out of the manor throws a trunk of [ __ ] at her and says get the [ __ ] out of here I don't want to deal with you anymore and that was the last anybody ever saw of Rebecca so back in the present Quinn has found the trunk that's full of all of her stuff and he finds all these cameos that are really beautiful and he knows Aunt Queen loves cameos and stuff so he's like oh like why don't we put this [ __ ] up around the house this is really cute so he goes and he starts like displaying some of the jewelry pieces and stuff all around the house and he thinks this is a great idea he's like bringing some of the history of the house back to the present however putting all of Rebecca's jewelry around the house kind of summons Rebecca's ghost back to the house and things take a real weird turn from here basically Quinn kind of just gets ensnared by Rebecca's ghost and he starts seeing the house how Rebecca would see the house like it was back in you know in the early 1900s and everything feels really real in super corporeal to him including Rebecca herself and then well you know what I'm just gonna say it Quinn ghost bangs the woman who would have been his great great grandmother he banged a ghost is how he lost his virginity like I can't like goodnight everybody we're calling it here after all of the ghost sex um Rebecca she starts talking to Quinn more and she's like hey you need to go to Sugar devil Island and like get my body back because that's where it is and then if you go get my body I'll come back and I'll go spank you again and Quinn's like you know what this is a great idea I'm gonna go get your body when he goes out into the swamp looking for this sugar devil Island so Susie pulls up on shore of sugar devil Island he sees like this big Manor House was built there and there's also this big golden tomb that looks like Roman inspired so Quinn's like goes into the house because I mean what else is he gonna do and he's looking around the house and he goes upstairs and he finds Rebecca's remains and oh my gosh with this woman tortured before she was killed like her bones are on the wall suspended by a meat hook straight up Texas Chainsaw Massacre style like this woman suffered a lot Queenie tries to take the body down but like it's disintegrating as he's touching it mind you he's been in a swamp for like a hundred years it's very fragile so he ends up just taking the jewelry off the body and he's like okay I'm gonna leave I'm gonna get the police to come back and I'm gonna deal with this because something horrible happened here and then like some other red flags start kicking on in his brain because he's actually looking at the house now and he's like this Banner looks like someone lives in it right now like there are Books open on the counter that are like recent release novels like obviously they haven't been there for a while someone is living here he's like oh God someone is living in the murder house just casually what Quinn makes a fabulous decision here he's like I'm getting the [ __ ] off this island so he gets on his boat and he leaves immediately however you know Quinn he's also does you know want to get Justice for Rebecca like some awful things happen to this poor woman so he makes plans to go back to the island but this time he's gonna bring like all the stuff he actually needs like he's gonna bring a gun and like a camera and all this stuff so he can like be safe and also a strongly worded letter a victim who was ever living in that manner so Quinn explores the whole house and he takes lots of pictures and I guess like all of this exploring on the island gets them all tuckered out and he takes a nap and during this nap he ends up getting merged again with Rebecca's ghost and he he ends up experiencing how she was tortured as if it was him so yeah these are very bad nightmares he's having so he's like ah and he wakes up because yikes that's a lot to see and then ghost Rebecca is there with him and then you know commence the ghost banging part two Electric Boogaloo and Rebecca tells Quinn that she needs him to be her Vengeance before you know fading away and Quinn falling back asleep the queen wakes up again and now it's after dark and Quinn's like oh no it's dark out I am in trouble the Quinn he's running out of the house he's trying to get out there as quick as humanly possible but he stopped when he sees Goblin and Goblin's like stopping him and warning him and trying to make him move a different direction because Quinn turns around and there's a figure at the other side of the island and it's dumping what looks very suspiciously like two dead bodies into the swamp where the alligators are and Goblin becomes as corporeal as he has ever been and like takes away win by the shoulder to like guide him away through the swamp without being caught by this like mysterious figure so save my Goblin Quinn gets back to the manor and he's freaking the F out he's like we need to call the police I I went to the island I saw someone dumping dead bodies there's a dead body already in there like a lot has happened at Queen you need to help me here however Quinn's story is rather far-fetched considering he also talks about all the ghosts he sees so no one really believes him but aunt Queen is very wealthy so she throws enough money at the police and they start doing their job to go out and investigate so it's the night before they're gonna go investigate the island and Goblin he wakes Quinn up really hard he's like you need to wake up there's there's danger here and it turns out like that mysterious figure from The Island was in Quinn's room and they leave a message and like run off and Quinn doesn't ever see like the stranger's face he just sees a silhouette and knows it has to be the same person that he saw on the island and he opens the letter and basically it says like Hey kid good I appreciate your Moxie but stay the F off my Island at your great great Granddad gave to me or else and since Quinn is very young and impetuous this makes him even more freaking excited to send the police over there so the police and like the FBI and everybody go to the island they collect all of the evidence but they don't find any of those fresh bodies because you know alligators like they're not gonna find them and Quinn is just so agitated by everything like he's being stalked by a mysterious figure in his room Goblin is becoming stronger and more corporeal and like he's [ __ ] a ghost like he's got a lot going on he's having a lot of anxiety and he's like oh God okay I'm just I'm gonna take a shower I'm just gonna try to wash this off so Quinn is in the shower and wouldn't you know Goblin decides they need a shower too so he gets in the shower with Quinn and then things progress from there um there's kissing and kissing leads into Franklin is a ghost handy okay there you go that's what happens in the shower dear Lord this kid needs to stop [ __ ] ghosts already and goblins like Quinn I can do this for you whenever you you and me should be together and in love and you shouldn't love Rebecca you shouldn't be with her you should be with me because like I can keep doing this Goblin and Quinn grow closer and closer and and actually a little bit more romantically closer as well and all along Goblin keeps warning Quinn about that aisle he's like don't go back that Island Rebecca's ghost is bad [ __ ] news like I mean it like those are bad things don't go do them but you know Quinn's 19 and depressed and that doesn't stop him from going back to the island because yikes he just making bad decisions so he gets a little drunk gets on a boat goes to the island and like picks up all of Rebecca's bones that are left he puts them all like in a box I guess and then he gets really angry my dream's been drinking a bit so he's like how dare this person [ __ ] live here this is my Island you know what [ __ ] your books homie and like he starts burning all the books that were in the house he's like all right that'll show him and then he takes Rebecca's bone box and he gets in the boat and goes back home however the stranger on the island takes a lot of offense at this they like those books and now they're all burnt up because Quinn had a temper tantrum stranger's pissed off stranger sneaks back into Quinn's room Yanks him out of bed throws him against the wall in the bathroom and like attacks him and the stranger tells Quinn you need to back the [ __ ] off homie I gave you a warning already you're lucky you're getting a second warning like I don't want to have to kill you but like I'll do it if I have to like chill and since Quinn is being so threatened by this you know other person Goblin appears super corporeal and goes like full Poltergeist on this [ __ ] and like shatters all the glass in the shower door and the mirror and then uses all the shards to like throw them at the stranger Goblin gets a stranger like in a choke hold and stuff and he's choking him and this this is freaking out the stranger a bit because the stranger cannot see Goblin but they do see all the [ __ ] glass flying at them and is feeling choked so they're like oh no I you know I'll be back and then leave they run off and the rest of the family start running in there because they heard all the [ __ ] glass break like what's going on and they just see Quinn hugging air they're like oh no something's going on here everyone's freaking the hell out and they take Quinn to Mayfair Medical to you know both treat his wounds because you know you got cut up from glass and also you know just get a Litany of psychiatric exams because something is going on here and like the family this has gone too far it's not just so talking to an imaginary friend now the bathroom's blown up however Mayfair Medical is probably the best place for Quinn because obviously there's a long uh paranormal leading aspect to this hospital because of Rowan and I feel like the doctors are trained to also administer tests to people and like see if like are they having a psychotic episode or are they actually seeing the ghosts and everything comes up physically normal for Quinn so they're going to discharge him and Goblin stays with him the whole time Goblin and Quinn are still super close with each other I mean like Goblin has saved Quinn's life multiple times and given him some hand days like they are very close to each other they're in a full-on relationship and now the story is finally going to get into some real crossover action here because on the day that Quinn is discharged from Mayfair Medical he meets a now 15 year old Mona Mayfair and Mona is a very powerful little witch and she has the full ability to see spirits so she can see Goblin clear as day she's like yeah he's right there like I can see Goblin and just because she's super hot and she's a witch you know obviously there's some Allure there and actually she can see Goblin Quinn immediately Falls head over heels in love with her just insta love heart eyes all the whole thing just completely in love with her so Quinn's first words to Mona are basically marry me I'm yours which look at the lot and Mona's like oh well that's cute also this is the first time where Quinn meets Sterling Oliver from the telematica who we met at the beginning of the book because Sterling is the new telemaska agent like assigned to the mayfairs after Aaron passed away so Quinn goes home Mona goes home they is a couple days go by and like Quinn has just been dwelling on Mona the whole time going I'm in love with her I need to see her what can I do to go see her I know I'll get in the car and just drive to her house whatever I'll just drive to the Mayfair House in New Orleans I know where that is so he gets in his car drives there and he's like about to knock on the door and Mona's already there waiting for him you know which she knows he's coming and she gets in the car with them they run off they go to like this hotel and they like just go at it like animals this is the first alive person Quinn has been with so good for Quinn here okay yay and now Quinn is just all consumingly in love with Mona and Mona kind of has a lot of feelings for him too and she wants to be away from the Mayfair house very badly so Quinn's like move in with me we're gonna get married someday it's cool move into the Blackwood Manor so she's like okay and he moves her into the Blackwood Manor and then they just play house for a few days like what is happening here however they can't play house forever So eventually Rowan and Michael show up at Blackwood Manor to pick up Mona and Mona zero percent wants to go back with Rowan and Michael she does not want to be there things get really tense the blackwoods have like security guards and like they're kind of stepping in and it's like oh Something's Gonna go down here Baron's like listen she has to come with us but like I'm not excluding you like like Quinn why don't you come over to the Mayfair house tomorrow and we'll all have dinner together and like that's the only thing that like diffuses the tension so you know Mona leaves with Rowan and Michael and Quinn and Mona are like secretly plotting to escape again and they're gonna run off to Europe together you know Young Love mind you Mona's 15 and Quinn is 18. like they're children so Quinn goes back to bed wakes up the next day this is the big dinner with Mona and her family so you know he gets his best suit on he's like oh I'm gonna go see Mona so he drives over to the Mayfair house and when he gets there guess who he runs into well wouldn't you know it's the ghost of Julian Mayfair and like tldr here for why Julian Mayfair is going to appear to Quinn out of all people basically Manfred Blackwood his son William wasn't able to perform on the wedding night so Manfred he's like hey Julian why don't you come sleep with the new bride instead you could just wear a mask and like she'll be none the wiser go ahead and Julian you know he was just such a libertine with loose morals that he agrees to this and he's like well I mean it's kind of [ __ ] up but I'll wear a mask and I'm gonna give her a good time I'll tell you what and this encounter led to Quinn's great-grandfather gravier and then we're gonna double down on that because William's first wife dies and he remarries and again can't perform on the wedding night Maverick calls up Julian for a Pitch hit here Julian steps in to have the wedding night with this bride who is unsuspecting and that results in Aunt Queen so technically this means Quinn is a Mayfair and full-on related to Mona and the thing about mayfair's mating with each other is that a lot of mayfairs have those [ __ ] up genetics that makes them make tall toes when they breed with each other so like making babies with Mona is a very bad decision but Julian makes us very clear to Quinn do not make babies with Mona it's a bad idea okay cool break and then like Julian Fades away and on that note time for dinner so Rowan and Michael they kind of explain like a little bit about like the genetic mutations and stuff again to Quinn and then Mona drops the bombshell of the Sentry here that she's actually really really sick so apparently ever since Mona gave birth to Morrigan the taltos she has been just constantly fertile every single day all day every day fertile and every time she has sex she conceives and then miscarries and all of the miscarriage that she's been having is literally killing her because Mona is frankly a nymphomaniac she she can't stop so this means a couple things one Quinn and Mona should not be intimate at least not intimate without protection at the very least because it could literally kill her and two they aren't going to be able to run away to Europe together because Rowan you know she's a brilliant scientist she is trying her best to come up with something that will help save Mona's life she's giving her a lot of treatments however Mona and Quinn are kind of like true love at this point they both love each other unconditionally and they still want to be together even if it means no penetration they're like down they're like I love you let's do this for real I'll come visit you with a hospital when you're having treatments let's go dinner's over Quinn ends up leaving um he's very hopeful for the future finally he's in love with Mona Mona's in love with him and he's gonna do everything in his power to make her get better in the future and he's sailing on cloud nine he's happy so he goes back home to Blackwood Manor and wouldn't you know shit's about to get real yet again because sitting in ant Queen's parlor is guess who oh it's the freaking stranger from the island just chilling escandalo like I am freaking out the stranger introduces himself as petronia and petronia is a very very old vampire they've been around since like the destruction of Pompeii with the volcano and also petronia is an intersex person so just side note here um well petronia is more often than not referred to as female in the book there are times when petronia identifies as male so I'm just gonna use they them pronouns for the sake of clarity because it kind of goes back in forth and frankly if they're prerogative to identify however they want but Quinn knows this is the murder stranger so he's freaking out causing a scene and and it's just a whole thing he's ruined the vibe petronia's like you know what I'll go I'll just leave don't worry about it and queen's like oh my gosh why did you ruin my evening I was talking to an interesting person and Quinn is like Aunt Queen Aunt queen that was the murderer from the island I know it I'm not insane please let me bring over Sterling Oliver from the telemasket of the house he'll confirm everything that I'm not crazy like you please and queen's like okay geez fine so Sterling comes over the house and he's like yep guess what Quinn completely sane and also petroni is a vampire and he highly advises Quinn that the best course of action he has right now is to just go to Europe with his aunt Queen because frankly she's getting older and it might be her last trip she's really able to take and also he should get as far as humanly possible away from petronia because now petronia has showed up at his house and hung out with his family members like shit's getting real you need some space Quinn completely trusts Sterling and he's like I believe you this is what I need to do so I'm going to do it but he also is in love with Mona so he he makes plans with Mona that like they're gonna stay in contact the whole times these in Europe they're going to write letters to each other they're going to email each other they're going to phone call each other it's going to be a separation but they're still in love and they're still together and you may be wondering where's Goblin in all this well Goblin is very worried in all of this because once before like Quinn went on a trip to New York without Queen and Goblin wasn't able to follow him to New York he ended up getting sucked back to New Orleans and he's really scared that if Quinn decides to go to Europe they're going to be officially parted because he can't follow him like ghosts are basically either attached to a person or attached to a place and it really seems like Goblin is attached to the place not the person so Quinn he's comforting Goblin because mind you they still kind of have a like an intimate relationship with each other at this point so he's comforting Goblin and he's like I'm Gonna Hold Your Hand the whole way on the plane I'm gonna literally grab you and keep you with me so they all go to Europe and then we're gonna cut to a time Jump here three years later later he went to Europe for like a quick trip and then three years went by while he was in Europe like the freaking Odyssey like what happened that it ended up being three years and like tldr for that three years basically is just a tour of Europe all the normal tour of Europe stuff is happening the only big thing to come out of it is that Goblin and Quinn are officially separated for the first time and Goblin does not like this apparently Goblin had been acting out at the Manor and like shattering all the windows and like breaking stuff for attention just causing all kinds of Mayhem until finally Quinn like talked to him like on the phone and he's like Goblin use the computer we can email each other like that's your whole thing and so they email each other the whole time they're gone but mind you by the end of these three years Goblin has grown weaker and weaker and has been corresponding less and less also he's been corresponding with Mona this whole time regularly for three years Mona is still in love with his guy like this is a big deal and also with Mona her correspondence has tapered off and she they haven't talked in at least a few weeks and unfortunately that means that Mona's condition has worsened considerably and she's now just she's in the hospital full time hooked up to machines and Mona is literally too weak to be able to talk to Quinn but that all has to wait because Quinn gets back to town and the first thing he feels really deeply compelled to do is go back to Sugar devil Island for some reason mind you it's nearing dark and he knows damn well that going to that island is a bad [ __ ] idea after dark but like Quinn's making bad decisions and what did you know it's dark out petronia shows up and it's like hi Quinn why don't you come inside have a drink and it's like oh boy don't take drinks from creepy strangers who live in Murder houses but yet Quinn is there taking drinks and basically like petronia just roofies this kid and like Goblin is there and is able to like form up just enough energy to try to stop petronia from taking him but ultimately Goblin is too weak and not able to stop petronia they grab Quinn and they fly off to a villa in Italy and things go downhill from here as you can imagine Quinn is kept in this kind of like gold cage literally and like perpetually drugged there's like attendants who like groom him and stuff for like the big nights and finally when like quinsley really regains Consciousness he's just two vampires in the room and one of them is this guy Aaron who is actually Petronas maker so an even older vampire and guess who the other vampire in the room is no other than Manfred [ __ ] Blackwood where Tony shows up and they take Quinn out of the cage and they're like all right we're gonna fight let's go so they just start fighting with Quinn and like throwing punches and stuff obviously Quinn is losing this fight this is a Vampire who's thousands of years old at this point I like petronia bites him and like nearly drains him dry so he's all weak and like out of it and then things take a very disturbing turn so trigger warding right here because petronia basically forces their genitals into Quinn's mouth and then Quinn bites down on the genitals very hard so like good for Quinn but that means a whole bunch of vampire blood is now flooding into his mouth and he swallows it apparently and this is how he becomes a vampire through like mouth and genitals and oh my God why so he turns into a vampire mind you he was already made by a very old vampire but then Aaron you know petronius maker who's much more level-headed shows up and he's like hey take some of my blood too this will make you win even stronger vampire so he got made by like double made by two super ancient vampires damn he's gonna be a really strong vampire fire from the get-go and then like tldr for this part for just basically a vampire training montage petronia is too hot-headed to be a good teacher for Quinn so Aaron takes over and and they basically breaks down the rules of being a vampire to Quinn as one the first rule of vampire Club is you do not talk about vampire Club two stay the hell away from the telemaska because they are not friendly to vampires nowadays three don't make new vampires without permission not cool and four you should stay the hell out of New Orleans because that's the stats domain and he kills trespassers like these vampires in Europe who've never lived in America know who the stat is it's it's Bonkers Quinn completes basic training so to speak and decides that he wants nothing to do with any of these vampires he's like you all suck I don't want to deal with you I miss my family I know I'm a vampire and they're not vampires but I'm gonna make it work I'll figure it out I'm going home so that's what he does as he leaves him he goes back to Blackwood Manor and he does his elaborate thing where he really tries to be able to keep his vampire nature under wraps for as long as possible and you know he like makes the room light tight he goes to the manor during the day so he can like bunk down and not be like in the Sun and also he pledges he will never go see Mona again because he doesn't want to like taint her with his vampire nature and Quinn isn't even sure if he'll be able to see Goblin anymore because now he's a vampire eventually Goblin does show up and Quinn is able to see Goblin however this isn't Fun Goblin who's given out handies this is angry Goblin who's attacking Quinn and sucking blood droplets out of his pores so like the relationship has taken a turn for the worse at this point because Goblin attacks Quinn every time he feeds on someone and Goblin becomes stronger and stronger after each attack and at this point we are now officially back in present day this was Quinn's lifestyle story here we are sitting in his room with Lestat and after hearing you know Quinn's whole life story listat is rather taken with him still he's like you know what Quinn like I've fallen a little bit in love with you like don't make a big deal out of it but like I'm a little bit in love with you so I'm very interested in this you know what I know someone who could possibly help with this whole ghost thing because that's gonna bring over Merrick Mayfair who is you know former witch former telemaska agent now current vampire companion of Lestat and he's gonna ask her to like exercise Goblin or whatever and it's right around now they start hearing screaming from downstairs they're like oh no something bad happened they run downstairs and what had happened was Goblin basically killed out Queen she's dead Quinn is inconsolable even lestat's a little sad like Lestat thought she was fabulous and like as upset that she said and Quinn vows with his very soul that he will destroy Goblin for killing Aunt Queen an endless that's like I'll help you you know like and they probably did like the Bro handshake like with their forearms we're gonna cut forward like a little bit in time to Aunt Queen's funeral and like everybody showed up everybody loves ant Queen so everybody's there both living and dead Rowan and Michael are there giving respects um Julian's ghost is there giving respect mind you I'm Queen is Julian's biological daughter so yeah he's a little upset that she's passed away and to top things off even petronia shows up all the way from Italy and petronia is a maker of cameos which is very you know fits into the story because Aunt Queen loved cameos they bring like this really amazing one to give to Aunt Queen it's actually kind of a sweet moment because petronia shows up and just gives respects and it's not like a hot-headed moment where they were gonna pick on Quinn or something is just like a soft moment like even petronia really cared for ant Queen Lestat comes back and he brings Merrick Mayfair along with him and Merrick gets to work immediately mind you she's psychic she can see spirits and she's very much a medium and she's like dude you do know goblins like the ghost of your twin brother right Quinn's like what I didn't have a twin and she's like well I think you had a twin homie maybe you should ask some people so Quinn he he starts asking people he goes over to his mother Patsy I haven't mentioned Patsy this whole recap because frankly she's not a big part of the story but like tldr she's a shitty mother who should have never had children luckily she made Quinn but like yike she's horrible Patsy confirms that yes Quinn had a brother when she was born and she named him gawin like she named Quinn technically Quinn and Godwin she's naming him after like the Knights of King Arthur's Court here and like boom bombshell here but not really oh like the ghost of your identical twin named gawin which sounds a lot like Goblin is somehow the spirit attached to this whole time [ __ ] duh like how did no one piece this together like the people who work at that matter and on Queen and stuff like they didn't really put this together somehow and it turns out they kind of did but they didn't believe it but like they kind of knew but like then they didn't want to tell Quinn that he actually had a twin because it would upset him and his whole family like secret conspiracy going on here anyway now that the whole like Goblin Goblin Quinn's twin brother who's dead situation has been settled we're gonna move on to step two which is America officially exercising Goblin so Mary starts putting her plan to exercise Goblin into action and she's like hey Quinn get everybody out of the manor and then go shopping I need these supplies and everybody leaves the manor because they know something's up they all leave willingly everyone except Patsy his god-awful mother who's just rotten to her very core she refuses to leave and she just hates Quinn because Godwin died and Quinn didn't so she just hates him to her very core because she's awful and she just won't leave the manner to spite him basically she has no sense of self-preservation here and it's right now that the ghost of Rebecca decides to show back up again after all this time and start reminding Quinn that she wants a life for a life she needs him to be her Vengeance so Quinn he goes to visit Patsy and like his whole life she's been rotten and awful to him she's hated him and he's just like had it she's like a new species now he doesn't really see her as the same and just snaps her neck so now Quinn has a fish actually killed his birth mother Rebecca satisfied she got a life for a life so she kind of Fades away and he just takes her body over to the swamp and gives it to the Gators to eat quindus didn't do this happily or without thought he did literally just kill his mother and feed her to alligators he's he's feeling a bit low at this point he's a little sad and he starts having those same like suicidal ideation thoughts he used to have when he was at his low points but now he's a vampire he's like well maybe maybe I don't need to be exercised maybe I'll just go walk out into the Sun and just end over everybody but you know who shows up just in the nick of time to stop Quinn from making a bad decision the stat less that's like Quinn you're my little brother and I love you do not [ __ ] around with that like I'm done with you having those thoughts here drink some of my blood it will help you be stronger so Quinn drink some of the stats blood which is like Mega high octane blood like this is the highest octane blood you can get in the stats like have some so Quinn is now all hopped up on the stat blood and it's time to start the exorcism so basically in this exorcism they like start this whole bonfire and they'd like do some chanting and they call to Goblin to come back to his true body because apparently Merrick went to like the Blackwood family crypt and Unearthed like the bones of Godwin's infant body so go and spirit can reattach itself to its own body and like you know eventually Merrick uses enough of her witch powers and like just coaxing and like softness too a little bit to get Goblin to go back into his own body his own bones and then like the Bones start making itself into like uh like a corporeal baby although like ghost baby it has a face now it's not just like bones in a sack it has a face and a body and it's growing up it's getting a little older it's getting a little bigger and like Merrick's holding it eventually she puts the baby down it's a toddler now and then like other Blackwood relatives start showing up like they're showing up inside of like the fire and it's like the grandfather who shows up and he kind of like just takes goblins little toddler hand and just walks him off into the light and then Merrick is kind of separate into Spirit form in the fire because she was holding this baby in spirit form Merrick Spirit just kind of turns around and looks at them and just calls it a day waves goes off into the light along with you know Goblin the grandfather all these other blackwoods and then like a big whoosh happens and like the light Fades out and it's just a fire left you know Merrick's physical body is still standing in the fire so let's dad like grabs it Yanks it out of the fire it's a little bit burned but like he's trying to revive it like giving giving Merrick blood and everything but this is just the shell this is just the body Merrick Spirit has departed to the afterlife and I wish they went into this a little bit more there was only like maybe a couple lines of dialogue in the book where Merrick was apparently very unhappy in being a vampire and a lot of new vampires go through this phase where they're like basically like I don't want to do this like I'm gonna end it all and I think Merrick was also in the end at All Phase but regardless of how Merrick felt about being a vampire and how ultimately she went to a better place she's happy the staff is still heartbroken like this is his this is his vampire companion buddy like he's sad he's really trying to like resurrect his body and he can't do it so like ristat heartbroken even and like Quinn is trying to comfort him it's like no I saw it I saw everything that happened she wanted to go and everything and like it kind of helps Lisette a bit to like accept this so let's start in a rare stroke of altruism decides to do the right thing here and he shows up at like the telemaska headquarters house to talk to Sterling Oliver and he just tells Sterling what happened to Merrick because you know Merrick was a telemasket agent and her becoming a vampire is what made the talamaska like declare open season on vampires so he's like listen I want to tell you what happened so you just don't go through life not knowing what happened to Merrick and like Sterling thanks him for it because you know he didn't have to come here and tell them what happened and give them like closure so their party ways and Sterling drops the big bomb here that like hey Quinn the reason why you haven't been hearing from moda in so long is because she's literally dying there's not much time left like she's she's on her deathbed and Quinn you know he's like horrified but like there's nothing he can do about it he's been warned not to make new vampires and also he doesn't want to taint Mona with what he is so he's all bummed out that Mona is literally dying and also Merrick is dead so like Lestat is a little sad celestat's like hey guess what let's go on a boys trip I got a house in Boca Raton so that's what they do they do a quick boys trip to Boca Raton Florida have a vacation ate a few people and then you know they decide to come back home and once they get back to Blackwood Manor they find that Moda is there and has been waiting for Quinn and Mona really looks like she's dying she's like Skin and Bones she's very weak but she's like Quinn I love you I can't stand to die in a hospital I want to be here with you and Quinn you know he he loves loves Bona like this is a true love situation they're both desperately in love each other it's almost Shakespearean honestly and like he's like oh my God like Mona do you mean it do you really [ __ ] mean it do you really want to be with me like forever and at this moment list at like a real big brother in this situation shows up and he's like Mona we're vampires this is how it works and like Quinn he's my unofficial little brother here so like listen do you want to be a vampire I am giving you the choice not very many of us actually have you can say no and I'll leave or you can say yes and I will make it so you can stay with Quinn forever and the moment of truth comes Mona says yes she wants to be a vampire boom credits end of the book like that's the end of the book Mona says yes she's gonna be a vampire and I'm assuming Lestat makes her into a vampire Mona May fear the witch is now a vampire and she's in Vampire love with Quinn Blackwood so oh boy A lot happened in this book this was a roller coaster of emotions mind you I have been drinking during this video so like I'm feeling a little emotional probably because of alcohol but like I love Quinn intensely he's written as such a likable [ __ ] character that you just wrote for him no matter what he's everybody's kid brother and you will you will steal the bones of anyone who tries to hurt him like that's how he's written I love him and also we got all that crossover material with the Mayfair witches like Mona and Quinn vampire love what I am very excited about all that and overall I just really enjoyed reading this mainly because Quinn was such a likable character is there a certain yike sector here yes it's and rice there's always going to be like sexual Terror in like everything she writes and this one is you know still has that sexual Terror element so that being said it could have been worse than it was but overall I still genuinely really like the book I think it was a fun ride I enjoyed reading it I'm excited to read more books in this series I know the next book Blood Canticle is like kind of dealing with the Mayfair witch's analystat and the vampires again so I'm very
