hey everyone welcome back to the channel today we've got some big news coming out of New York Mets camp that's sure to shake things up for the rest of the season let's dive into the latest on Jeff mcneel's injury and what it means for the Mets as they push towards the playoffs so here's the Scoop Jeff mcneel the Mets RedHot second baseman has been sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 regular season with a broken wrist this is a huge blow for the Mets who have been on a serious role lately mcneel suffered the injury during Friday's thrilling walk-off win against the Cincinnati Reds it happened when he was hit by a pitch while trying to bunt in the fourth inning despite the injury mcneel managed to stay in the game to run the bases and play defense but he was eventually pulled from the game when his spot in the lineup came up again in the seventh manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed the unfortunate news on Saturday stating that an MRI revealed a wrist fracture Mendoza said not good MRI this morning showed a wrist fracture so he is likely done for the year mcneel himself told reporters that it's a really small fracture and hinted that he might return if the Mets make a deep postseason run even though mcneel's overall season numbers might not jump off the page he's batting 238 with a 307 on base percentage and a 384 slugging percentage he's been on fire in the second half of the Season since the All-Star break he's hit 289 with a 376 on base percentage and a. 547 slugging percentage he's also knocked out seven of his 12 home runs during this hot streak now with mcneel out the Mets will rely more on Jose eaus to man second base eaus has been a solid performer this year and should help fill the Gap left by mcneel's absence despite this setback the Mets are on a nine-game winning streak and have secured the third and final National League wild card spot with the Atlanta Braves hot on their heels the season series between the two teams is tied five five and they're set to face off in a crucial three-game series at truest Park from September 24th to 26th this series will be key as we approach the end of the regular season so Mets fans how do you think mcneel's injury will impact the team's playoff chances will they be able to overcome this hurdle and continue their hot streak drop your thoughts in the comments below and don't forget to like And subscribe for more updates and Analysis thanks for watching and we'll catch you in the next video
