>> WE ARE LEARNING MORE ABOUT A CHILD THAT WENT MISSING AND WAS FOUND DEAD THIS AFTERNOON. >> IT HAPPENED AT BELLS CROSSING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. ABOUT 11:00 A.M. HIS BODY WAS FOUND IN A POND VERY NEARBY A FEW HOURS LATER. WE HAVE BEEN TRACKING THIS STORY ALL DAY. REPORTER: HE WAS A THIRD GRADER HERE AT BELLS CROSSING ELEMENTARY. DURING THE SCHOOL DAY HE RAN OFF OF SCHOOL PROPERTY. HIS BODY WAS FOUND HOURS LATER. INVESTIGATORS SEARCH FOR THE 8-YEAR-OLD FOR HOURS. LOOKING FOR HIM FROM THE GROUND AND IN THE AIR. >> A LOT OF BROKEN HEARTS IN THE SCHOOL AND THIS COMMUNITY TODAY. >> ACCORDING TO THE SCHOOL, HE RAN OUT OF HIS CLASSROOM OFF SCHOOL PROPERTY 11:00 A.M. WEDNESDAY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THEY LOST SIGHT OF HIM WHEN HE RAN INTO A FIELD WITH TALL GRASS. >> HE GOT OVER A FENCE. KIND OF GOT AWAY FROM THEM. BEFORE THEY COULD CATCH UP TO HIM. THEY IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT. OBVIOUSLY TO COME HELP AS WELL AS SCHOOL SECURITY PERSONNEL. EVERYBODY CONVERSED HERE. THAT'S HEN THE SEARCH BEGAN. >> THE F.B.I., SLED FROM ACROSS THE UPSTATE LOOKED FOR HIM. WHEN THE STARTED THE SEARCH, DOZENS HELPED LOOKING FOR HIM IN NEARBY NEIGHBORHOODS. FOUR HOURS AFTER HE WENT MISSING DIVERSE FOUND HIS BODY IN A POND ABOUT A QUARTER MILE FROM HIS SCHOOL. >> WORDS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO DESCRIBE THIS TRAGEDY. >> WE'RE DEVASTATED TO LOSE ONE OF OUR CHILDREN. >> THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS LOOKING AT HOW THIS TRAGEDY UNFOLDED AND WILL BE REVIEWING ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE DAYS AND WEEKS AHEAD. >> AFTER EVERYTHING IS INVESTIGATED AND WE KNOW ALL OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF WHAT HAPPENED, WE LOOK AT ALL OF OUR PROCEDURES WHETHER THEY ARE RELATED TO PREVENTING SUCH AN INCIDENT IN THE FUTURE OR HOW WE RESPONDED IN THE MEDIASY OF THE INCIDENT. WHAT MIGHT WE LEARN FROM THAT? WHAT MIGHT WE DO BETTER. >> THE MOST IMPORTANT THING PEOPLE CAN DO IS OBVIOUSLY PRAY FOR THE OTHER CHILDREN AND THAT FAMILY. >> COUNSELORS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF AT THE SCHOOL FRIDAY. >> NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED. THE PRINCIPAL AT BELLS CROSSING RELEASED A STATEMENT THAT SAYS THIS WAS OUR WORST FEAR TODAY WED WE ARE GRIEVING AS A
