I DON'T THINK HE EVEN, LIKE, I NOTICED THE FIRST FEW FASTBALLS WERE IN THE LOW 90s, THERE WAS NO, OH, I GOTTA GENERATE IT. IT JUST, HE PITCHED. AND MORE AND MORE THE FASTBALL WAS REALLY GOOD AS HE WENT ON. BUT MOST OF ALL, YOU KNOW, HE LIMITED THE FREE PASSES, COUPLE 3-2 COUNTS WHERE HE REALLY EXECUTED, WHERE IT COULD HAVE BEEN A WALK AND IT CHANGES THE COMPLEXION OF THE INNING. MADE A LOT OF BIG PITCHES IN THOSE SITUATIONS. >> Meredith: WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT LUKE WEAVER IN THE NINTH AND HOW DO YOU THINK HE HANDLED THE SITUATION? >> Aaron: I THOUGHT HE LOOKED GREAT. YOU KNOW, HE'S ABOUT TO HAVE A TEN-PITCH, THREE-STRIKEOUT INNING AND BELLINGER PUT A REALLY GOOD AT-BAT ON HIM, AFTER WEAVE JUMPED 0-2 ON HIM. AND THEN PAREDES PUT A REALLY GOOD AT-BAT ON HIM TOO. I THOUGHT HIS STUFF WAS EXCELLENT. THE HEATER WAS BIG. YOU KNOW, CHANGED A LITTLE BIT OF THE SHAPE TO HIS SLIDER, EVEN MIXED IN A CURVEBALL, WHICH YOU DON'T SEE FROM HIM VERY OFTEN, BUT OVERALL HE DID A REALLY NICE JOB. >> WHEN DID YOU THINK LUKE WAS THE GUY TODAY? FOR THE NINTH? >> Aaron: WELL, ONCE GIL WENT SIX, I KNEW I WANTED COUSINS IN THAT NEXT, YOU KNOW, SPOT OF THE LINEUP. AND THEN ONCE COUSINS, I KNEW I WANTED TOMMY NEXT FOR THE BOTTOM AND AROUND TO THE TOP POTENTIALLY. SO I KIND OF JUST LINED UP THAT WAY. >> HIS FIRST CAREER SAVE OPPORTUNITY HORTON-TUCKER'S DO YOU THINK HE MENTALLY HANDLED ISN'T IT. >> Aaron: YEAH, GOOD. I THOUGHT HE CAME OUT WITH A LOT OF LIFE TO THE FASTBALL. I MEAN, IT WAS ONE OF HIS BETTER FASTBALLS OF THE YEAR, WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY A REALLY GOOD PITCH FOR HIM. IT WAS HIGH 90s, LOOKED LIKE THE SHAPES OF THEM WERE REALLY GOOD. CAME OUT ON THE ATTACK, YOU KNOW, BELLINGER AND PAREDES PUT TWO TOUGH AT-BATS ON THEM TO MAKE IT CHALLENGING THERE. BUT I THOUGHT HE WAS EXCELLENT. >> Meredith: DO YOU EXPECT HIM TO GET MORE OPPORTUNITIES THERE IN THE CINCINNATI. >> Aaron: HE COULD. HE CO. AGAIN, IT WILL BE EVERYONE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT EACH DAY DEPENDING ON WHERE WE ARE IN THE LINEUP EARLIER IN THE GAME. WE'LL JUST PIECE IT TOGETHER BEST WE CAN. THE THING IS WE HAVE REALLY GOOD PITCHERS DOWN THERE. AND WE'VE JUST GOTTA GHEMENT IN THE RIGHT SPOTS, CLAY INCLUDED. SO IT'S A GOOD DAY. >> HOW GOOD WAS WELLS BOTH AT THE BAT AND HANDLING PITCHES? >> Aaron: YEAH, YOU KNOW, I THOUGHT HE WAS REALLY GOOD, UNDER CONTROL BACK THERE. YOU KNOW, LUIS CAN GET A LITTLE CREATIVE OUT THERE AND GOTTA REIN HIM IN A LITTLE BIT SOMETIMES. I THOUGHT HE DID A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH ALL OF OUR PITCHERS, THOUGH, AND OBVIOUSLY A BIG HIT THERE IN THE ONLY INNING WE SCORED. SO GOOD TO GET HIM BACK, OBVIOUSLY, AND GOOD TO SEE HIM IMPACT US ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. >> Meredith: CLEARLY A GOOD TEAM WIN BUT ALSO A BIG DAY FOR ANTHONY RIZZO COMING BACK HERE. YOU COULD SEE ANTHONY'S EMOTIONS WHEN HE CAME OUT TO -- AFTER THE VIDEO, WHICH THEY DID A GREAT JOB WITH. TO SEAT FAN BASE JUST -- SEE THE FAN BASE REALLY BE EXCITED TO SEE HIM AND ANTHONY PLAYED WELL, I THOUGHT HE HAD GOOD AT-BATS, MADE SOME REALLY GOOD PLAYS IN THE FIELD.
