New York Mets VS Arizona Diamondbacks MLB live PLAY BY PLAY scoreboard 8/27/24

we come back on the Morgan and Morgan Diamondbacks Radio Network [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] celebrate Hispanic heritage weekend presented by australa a first pitch strike that'll make it 0 and one it is a high contct top of the lineup for the Diamondbacks in this one with McCarthy on Deck is that pitch definitely outside you're so used to seeing sha manah with that long hair and uh not So Much Anymore kind of cut off the locks he didn't recognize him when he got to New York as The 1-1 Swinging a Miss fast ball middle of the Zone little bit up and the count one and two and for a guy who's been around for so long he's still only 32 years old he came up though in 2016 now the onew offering and Pomo fouls it away another fast ball middle of the plate yeah you can see the lower arm angle also really hides the ball well almost jumps at you as he releases it and Manas having a much better year than the one he had last year with the Giants shaved his er down by almost a full run as the one two check swing and did he go well not going to matter I think they rung up Pomo on strikes well that's a couple questionable calls already Pomo didn't like that and I think he's got a beef I think that was a little bit off the plate in and he got the call so one strike out for manah and that will bring Jake McCarthy to the plate McCarthy hitting 299 on the season eight homers 48 driven in and the first pitch is a strike right on the Inside Edge certainly looks to be a little bit of a wide Strike Zone early on in this game now the 01 is outside one ball one strike McCarthy as we've talked about so often having such a better season than the one he had last year that solves one problem as the one- one pitch is a taken strike that looked to be out of the Zone the count as one and two the other problem he has solved is his ability to hit left-handed pitching the numbers just jump off the page as the onew from manah is outside two ball oh it's another strike three called right on the outside edge that looked like a pretty good pitch that time that was a a pitcher's call though and good pitch wouldn't mind if Emil would pick up the pace a little bit on calling strikes I I'm with you on that for goodness sake honestly so backto back looking strikeouts and that will bring up the first true right-handed hitter in this lineup for the Diamondbacks lordes guel Jr 15 homers 66 RBI eyes and the first pitch swung on and fouled back o and one the count manah has faced the Diamondbacks several times in his career though more importantly he did face the Diamondbacks back in June when these two teams hooked up for a four game series at City Field the 01 a late swing and miss and now the count nothing and two and in that start not particularly sharp was manah six runs allowed and five and 2/3 as this one is a hot shot right to the second baseman mcneel he catches the liner and the inning comes to an end 1 two three inning Manas strikes out two and we go to the second scoreless on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks radio network hey diamond [Applause] [Applause] for [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] for [Applause] work for a company that is positively impacting the world through Cutting Edge Aerospace technology and Community engagement if so Honeywell Aerospace Technologies is the place and the right-hander swings at the first one sends it out to deep right it is over the head of Carol and that one is [Music] gone first pitch home run Alonzo his 28 the Mets jump out in front one to nothing well as we mentioned they're going to swing quite often you know Raad has been done really a nice job keeping the ball in the ballpark this year compared to last year and Alonzo was actually late on that swing it was a fast ball on the inside third missed his Target and Alonzo made him pay he was looking to go the opposite way got a pitch I guess in a good enough spot like you said a little bit in but with that close stance able to punch it out of there and that'll bring up Jesse Winker you normally don't see Alonzo hit that many home runs to right field he's more or less a a guy from center field to the left field line but got enough of the bat on that one here's the 1 and Winker takes inside two balls no strikes Winker could be a very dangerous matchup here for Brandon F left-hander likes to pull the ball likes the ball coming in I think it's wise to press him inside and then come back with a change pop up out of in a shallow Center but the short stop Pomo there to track it down and that'll be the first out of the second that's a nice pitch by fod coming inside and just tying them up that time and you can see the Mets they're very very aggressive right now Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort the Valley's richest and best rewards voted best casino and a centrals best of the desert here's the right-handed hitting JD Martinez and he takes slow ball one Martinez this year 15 homers 62 RBI he has slowed down quite a bit though in the second half now the 10 offering and Martinez takes slow and outside a sweeper that missed two balls no strikes to count now Martinez is a guy different than Alonzo he will take the ball to right field we've seen him do that quite often when he was remember the Dbacks 20- missed outside and low three balls no strikes well you don't want to leave this ball over the middle of the plate you still have to make a good pitch of this guy he can hurt you that'll be off the plate ball four four pitch walk to the 37-year-old Martinez and with one out there is one on for the free swinger Tyrone Taylor number 15 Ty tayl Taylor with a lot of power also with a lot of swing and Miss I think a sweeper would be an excellent pitch to this guy here's the pitch and a sweeper over the inside corner for his strike ow and one the count Taylor acquired an offseason trade with New York and Milwaukee Brewers got a pitching Prospect back Coleman Crow Taylor and Adrien Hower over to the queen side of the city as the 01 is outside one ball and one strike six homers 29 driven in 241 average need a big home run for the Brewers in the wild card game last year against fought that was early of course we know how it ended is the 1-1 there's a line drive outside of the left field line foul and that'll make it one and two Mets have been playing well coming into this one five games over on the season since the All-Star break three games over 500 one out one on and the onew is on the way fast ball broken background to right back to fought throws to Second it's off the glove and Newman and it Ricochet into left center field Martinez will go to Third and it wasn't all that bad of a throw as McCarthy comes up firing to the plate and that is a mistake defensively for the Diamondbacks well this is a ground ball right back to F he gets it quickly he's ready to throw second baseman's not there Newman so he has to stutter step and still not a bad throw but Newman wants the ball in the inside part of the bag and he threw it to the outside part and tips off the end of his glove we say this all the time you always have to get one before you can get two it is going to be an E4 on Newman I'll tell you what looking at that replay Newman was just real late getting over there you're right wanted to throw over the inside part but it was I mean not much to the short stop side of second base but Newman was just not there yeah it wasn't a good throw by F I mean it's a throw you as a second baseman you just want to say okay I can't turn a double play on that throw let's just catch the ball get the lead guy but he was still trying to be able to get a double play but where that throw was located you can see what can happen when it Just Hits the end of your glove that is a rare mistake defensively by the Diamondbacks they have been the best defensive team in the majors this year and and now here is mcneel first and third one out and this one a curveball swung on and missed that just the 49th error of the season for the Diamondbacks the Texas Rangers the second fewest errors at 53 I mean defensively this club has just been Superior to everybody we play I mean they hustle more they catch the ball their gloves are just tremendous they save so many runs now the 01 looked like he tried to change up did F but he missed outside and that defensive count had one ball and one strike mcneel a one-time batting champion only hitting 238 this year 12 homers and 41 driven in yeah you this guy makes contact quite a bit you can get him to hit into a double play throw to first Taylor back in there with a head first dive well the Mets already got one in this inning thanks to a solo Homer by Pete Alonzo they are looking to get more after the E4 and now the 1-1 is rolled over to First backhanded by Bell throw to Second there's one out throw to first not in time mcneel always hustling down the line beats out the double play Martinez scores and it's two nothing New York well that was the contact we needed Bill did a nice job getting rid of that ball but O'Neal like you said just a little bit too much speed to be able to turn that on [Music] himare that'll bring up right-handed hitting Francisco Alvarez 236 average six homers 28 RBI he torched the Diamondbacks in this ballpark last year and the first one from fought that's a beauty fast ball over the outside corner and the count nothing in one yeah not much on the average side but you know he's got power seven for 18 in his career against the Diamondbacks four home runs here's the 01 swing and a miss and now they count 0 and two I don't think he came very close to that pitch right there I'd have to throw up another one now the pitcher is equivalent of a heat check yeah just throw it out there again see if he goes after it two outs here comes the O2 from fought and it's swung on and foul that one a tad off the plate but much more hitable than the previous sweeper yeah and he still just hit the ball on the very very end of the bat so he might try to come change the eye level right now and then come back to that sweeper CU if you leave it outside off the plate you'll get him the Chase and you can waste a pitch here 02 show them what the fast ball looks like yeah just throw it off the plate in or away upstairs don't let him he's he's in swing mode so don't give him anything good he can hit and then come back with the sweeper the 02 went to another sweeper that one way off the plate and Alvarez took it he tripled up on it I'm not a big fan of triple up pitches I double ups are great I'd like to see him just change the eye level come back with it I think two pitches at a time mcneel at first he holds and the onew there's a fast ball I level way up and it's now two and two yep that's a good pitch that's the pitch I think we like to seen last time now let's see if he comes back out there or he might try to throw that two seamer inside hasn't shown him that pitch yet two two check swing did he go yeah he did on appeal Alvarez strikes out the inning is over but the Mets they score Twice first it's Alonzo then it's the Diamondback defense that lets him down we go to the bottom of the second Mets two Dbacks nothing [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] oh [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] he here owner of Blue Sky Pest Control if you're looking for a perfectly choreographed Pest Control service with results that will make you Josh Bell will lead it off and manah missed outside with the first one 240 average 18 homers 60 driven in here for Bell and manah no idea what to throw and he winds and just fires a fast ball middle away that's a strike yeah I don't know what to throw let's just try the fast ball he stuck his arms out like what are you trying to say but with nobody on base you can't just step off the rubber it's still a pitch clock violation so you either have to use a mound visit with your catcher or you just pitch spray and pre hope the catcher catches it as the one-1 Inside Out foul here we pause 10 seconds for station ID and the Morgan of Morgan dbx Radio Network kmpm that hand out even though manah doesn't have overwhelming velocity fast ball usually around 93 mph that still can be bit of a stinger when you catch it close towards the handle was funny as for seamer hitters are only hitting 178 against it with a 315 slug I mean it's been a really good pitch for him you think that would be a Pitch that teams would really exploit being at below League average velocity but he just hides the ball so well and just seems to get on guys with that new delivery here's the onew and that one up and in two balls two strikes it's not exactly Crossfire action hard to describe on radio but it just looks like at the last second he just kind of slings it ch ch swung on and fouled away to the right I don't want to say it's like Chris S but it's kind of in that direction I don't think anyone's quite like Chris Sail the way he throws I mean he's he's noodles he's all arms and legs you know what I mean yeah where man is built pretty solid there's a line drive Bas it in the right field as Bell serves it through the four hole and the Dbacks have their first hit of the game nice AB by Josh Bell again this Ball's on the outside part of the plate he goes with the pitch it's a line shot to right field it's a good start at first hit of the game presented by New Vision AutoGlass New Vision at the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation are teaming up to donate funds to Veterans with every hit this season as part of the hits for Heroes program well that'll bring up Randall gritch and the first one to gritch is off the plate ball one we've talked a few times about some of these Mets players and the difference they're having pre All-Star break post Allstar break you kind of have to throw gritch in that mix for the Dbacks as this is swung on and fouled straight back now gritch has some tremendous numbers against manai in his career six for 10 with two homers also a double and also a triple maybe this is the guy that will kind of get gritch going again in the second half one1 there's the swing just got under it high towering flyball into shallow left field and nmo comes in and makes the one-handed catch wasn't really fooled on the pitch he just missed it a little bit underneath it high fly to left you want to talk about a guy who's having quite the post allar break it is Gino Suarez my goodness think about where the average was when these teams were playing one another at City Field I don't think gin wanted to leave Boston the way he was swinging the bat I mean he couldn't get out 10 RB in the three games they'll look at a called strike from manah and they count 0 and one when the series started against New York on the 30th of May Gino hitting 210 but the average was coming down as the oan is just off the mark it would fall all the way down to 192 on June 26th I mean that that's that's when he said enough's enough that's three months as the one- one that's a popup off the end of the bat shallow center field long run for Taylor and he will call off mcneel and make the grab for out number two little sweeper tried to back door him and just got the end of the bat and that's why the ball just kind of hung up in the air that'll bring up Corbin Carroll 222 average 14 homers and 53 driven in Carol still getting slightly different treatment with left-handed starters as the pitches too high one ball and no strikes I really like when he's in the lineup regardless even if you have to drop him down into the lineup I mean every time he gets on base he seems like he scores you know he's he's a weapon 1 oh is going to be high just off the outside corner as well two balls and no stke stes to count there was a time where against certain left-handed matchups Carol would just be on the bench and who knows that still might happen as we are getting down the home stretch but me the way he's swinging it as the 2- missed and that'll make it three balls in those strik I'm with you I I think he's got to be in there every day from here on out me just such a dynamic player he gets on base I mean he can draw his walk but if he gets on he's a stolen base and taking all the way he'll look at strike one still leads the team in stolen bases he's got 21 and he's starting to get up there in home runs 14 of them yeah he got he's gotten hot with the long ball just think if he had just a little bit more slug in that first half he'd probably be a on around 20 some home runs swinging a Miss on a high fast ball from manah only in there at 92 but but like you said he just gets up on those hitters so fast and now the count is full dcks trailing to nothing but Bell over at first here's the pitch swing and a miss Carol chases one off the plate and the inning is over third strikeout for manah we've played two in the desert and we go to the third Mets two Dbacks nothing on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks Radio Network [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] August 31st Liga Arco meana Pacifico will join the daac during Hispanic heritage weekend to celebrate with a two nothing lead as Lindor leads off first pitch he swings at a curveball from fought deflex it foul now the count is 0 and one Diamondbacks have not quite figured out sha manah at their first look at the left-hander in almost two months yeah it looks a little different than when they saw him last time Lindor first time up with a fly out to left now he takes low one ball one strike the count when you go to Fan graphs and you look at War wins above replacement it's a slightly different metric than the one baseball reference uses now the 1-1 swung on that's hit well to the Gap in left center field long run guel and it is over his head it one hops the wall McCarthy backing up the play gloves and hits the cut off man Pomo that'll hold Lindor at second but it is a leadoff double for the Mets Short Stop Bo he took that ball the other way it was up it was hit well gur Allen left field one of the few times where he just took too shallow of an angle that time and that ball just got over his head if he would taken a little more deeper angle I think he would have been able to catch this ball I was thinking the same thing you were give him a doover he probably makes that catch not that it was an easy play but I think just misjudge how hard that ball was hit his 300th career double as well for Lindor just having another Dynamite season with the Mets despite not being named to the All-Star team here is Vientos he takes off the plate viento is not a rookie but almost feels like one with the emergencies having this year played in under uh fewer than 30 games at 22 as the pitch is a sweeper off the plate two balls and no strikes to count tell you what lindor's been doing some dancing around out there and he looked like he might have had Third Base stolen but he stopped fought didn't check him back now a spin throw over to Second Lindor back in there safely it's always the pitch after they look like they're about to steal do teams try to wise up most space Runners aren't that brash three to throw and the pitch is loow in pretty good pitch not called that time though I was going to say looked like it hit the corner but it was sinking low and in I tell you what F had quite a few 20 and three counts this is very unlike what we have seen from him this year now the 3oh pitch swing and a foul tip Vientos letting it Fly o he had a good pitch to handle too swung right through it 3-1 sweeper fouled back into the netting and the count is full 40 pitches for fought no outs recorded yet in the third done a nice job getting right back into the count here against Vientos down three and0 even one really good pitch to hit that one not a real good 3-1 cut but he fouled it off but F's in a position now to be able to get him out it's 3-2 swing and a miss excellent nice sweeper again that was his a sweeper had a lot of the middle part of the plate and that's what happens when you know you're throwing that pitch with three balls you have to get it to be over the plate and land it and you got to swing through third strike out for f that's a big out to get with lador at second now you really got to pay attention to Lindor first one to nmo swung on and foul tipped into the mid of Herrera IMO flew out to shallow right his first time up boy he's been on a miserable stretch in the second half a 165 batting average post Allstar break coming into this one as now the 01 is a curveball low and outside one ball one strike to count kind of a big hole up the middle of the field Newman shifted way over towards Bell they could almost shake hands over there right on this right side back door curveball missed on the 1-1 it's now two balls one strike Pereira really stuck that pitch for a while Nimo kind of looked over his shoulder like what are you waiting for Nimo wants a fast ball that's what he can hit he is a fast ball hitting machine three to throw fought he fires and he misses good margin off the plate away another three ball count for five tough part of the lineup right now with the Lonzo sitting on Deck already with a home run this game red stom looking on little concerned 3-1 swing at a Tapper foul would not give him a fast ball and as such nmo probably swung it ball four and it was a curveball too wasn't the sweeper I love this pitch against left-hander for him and in fact in this game he's thrown probably more curve balls early in this game than than we've seen 32 swinging a ground ball right side big old bounce for Newman to glove and throw to first that'll be out number two as Lindor gets to third but with two outs F going to look for some revenge against Alonzo who took him deep his first time up really good defensive positioning by the Diamondbacks you know really pulling Newman way to that right side really plug in that hole and that's right where that ball was hit got an open base now with Alonzo you don't have to come in give him anything good to hit just make good pitchers pitches now it was the 28th of the year for Alonzo and the first pitch is a breaking ball outside for ball one excellent pitch there just work the edges on this guy two nothing Mets two outs at the top of the Third londor takes his lead from third base and now the 1 is another sweeper off the corner two balls and no strikes third inning brought to you by Cactus corn since 1998 Cactus corn has been bringing the taste of Arizona to life from our bold Southwest flavors to our newest Creations Cactus corn is your go-to for delicious handcrafted [Music] popcorn the 2 on the way and that is a front door s sweeper that lands in the zone for a strike not where he wanted to throw it as herrer was sitting up outside but he landed it got the call and it looked to me like Alonzo kind of froze on it that ball started a little bit at him and and just clipped the inside part of the plate big pitch here it is the 2-1 fast ball missed inside ball three he was trying to get Alonzo to swing and jam his Bat but that's a good disciplin take and now yeah he's pitching him excellent right now with an open base guy on third base 3-1 swing and a Tapper foul might have been the best sweeper of the entire bat just off the outside corner I think he almost have to stay with that pitch he is looking for something out over the plate for sure especially the way like you said he froze on that front door sweeper if you can land that pitch again I mean tip your cap if he puts a good swing on it but we haven't seen him look middle in once this is bat 3-2 pitch swung on and fouled away another sweeper off the plate now the kind of swing that he just took at that one now you have to go on the other side of the plate I mean he was real aggressive there he just missed that one now you see the change up down and in the v the two seamer in you know even that front sweeper like you're talking about something on the inside part of the plate or something high in the zone 32 swung on popped up first bace side and out of Play It Goes not a bad pitch for seamer inside just a big swing and a foul off tied up a little bit heck of an aat between these two yeah this is a big one an important one also another 3-2 swung on popped up in play down the right field line and it is Carroll underneath it to make the catch and a nice job by F strand that runner at third as we go to the bottom of the third Mets though have the lead it's two nothing New York on the Morgan and Morgan debex radio network Francisco [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] for [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] for [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] markets the components we distribute are likely in the products you use and depend on every day from your car to your household appliances Avet delivering offense in this one though the Mets have certainly had the better of the chances as they lead it two nothing and Kevin Newman leads off this bottom the 30 he takes a first pitch strike from manah oh and one the count Newman hitting 273 couple of homers 23 driven in as that one is swung on and fou away they count 0 in two deback still trying to figure manah out in that release Point having a tough time this first time through yeah this is the kind of game where the absence of catel and Walker you really feel it in the lineup as the o02 there's a swing and a miss and the ball squirted out of the mid the Alvarez but Newman will just make the slow walk back to the Dugout that big sweeper his also talk about his fast ball and the way he hides it is when he throws the ball he kind of jumps a little bit towards the first base foul line and so the ball crosses his body before it gets to the plate and so from the hitter's eyes you see the ball you see the body and then it gets on you a little quicker now the catcher Herrera takes a strike I tell you what Mania since the All-Star break has had massive strikeout games 11 against the twins 10 against the Cardinals even his last time out had nine against the Orioles the 01 that is going to get through Alvarez again doesn't matter though the pitch was low and there's nobody on base said I think one of the keys to being a beat Mani is with the running game but you got to get guys on First 1-1 and that is going to be low let's be honest if Herrera gets on base you'd like for him to just start at second otherwise he's going to slow down the running game well the only base turn they've had was Josh Bell and he's not going to take advantage of that the 2-1 badly missed for ball three and he was a guy batting from the right side who tried to get something out over the plate work it to right field and really scorched a line drive as now the 3-1 is called a strike looked high looked outside but it's been a little bit of a guessing game in terms of what is and what isn't strike tonight it's just that he's got a wider Zone than normal swing and a line drive right field side unfortunately just foul be nice if Herrera can get on here so he can flip this lineup over Alvarez a very chatty catcher as the 3-2 is swung on and missed another strike out for manah he's up to five keeping the fast ball in the outside part of the plate just the for seamer just beat him with it not bet it's really hard I mean that one was 93 mph 94 mph first one to Pomo breaking ball is too high first 20,000 fans to the deags Brewers game on September 14th will take home the C Serpent's replica Jersey courtesy of Pepsi secure your tickets now by going to dbacks.com check swinging a [Music] Miss manah he's looking tonight it's like the opposite of Samson as the one- one swung on and fou away he cut off his hair and all of a sudden turns into a dominant pitcher well whatever he's done it's working for him DX having a tough time tracking his fastball mainly they really are as that was a real defensive swing by Pomo just fouled it away it's almost as if they're not ready for it by the time it's about halfway to the plate well I think when he jumps a little bit towards that first base foul line the ball shoots across his body and I think it becomes a little difficult to pick up for a hitter another swing another foul on the fast ball back door breaking ball got him looking and how about manah strikes out the side in order in the third we go into the fourth inning it is the Mets 2 and the Dbacks nothing on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks Radio Network [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] on August 30th the Diamondbacks host sh Otani and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chase Field for a 4game series sec the throw is in plenty of time to get the Mets right fielder one up and one down on one pitch well ful could really use that one I that's his 56 57th pitch of the game I and they've made they've taxed him a little bit JD Martinez walked and scored in that two-run second inning two nothing is the count as the pitch to Martinez is a strike o and one you know just looking at fought in this start tonight you look at where Herrera sets up as the 01 is swung on and missed that was an instance of him really hitting the target but herrera's been doing a lot of reaching kind of all over the strike zone and it's hard to get calls even with an Umpire who's got an expanded strike has tonight a02 pitch check swing but that one a good foot off the plate away yeah that's one of the things that you do as a pitcher only a certain amount of things you can really control and command out there and one is hitting the catcher's glove probably the most important thing you can do and he's been a little bit erratic with his aim two balls two strikes here comes the two two pitch swung on and tap foul you see these right-handed Hitters from the Mets really trying to figure out his sweep they still haven't had a real good cut on it yet here's the pitch just a bit outside Diamond Becks come into this one 19 games over 500 haven't had a mark like that since 2017 and the guy at the plate for the Mets big part of that 2017 Squad boy he sure was swing and a miss got him with a 3-2 sweeper and for fod his fourth strikeout that was a a sweeper there starts in the zone and breaks out of the Zone big swing by Martinez but really not really close to that ball boy F could desperately use a one two three inning already sitting at 64 pitches three and 2/3 in the books the first one to Taylor is swung on and fouled back just to go back to Martinez still I find it impossible to believe 29 second half home runs not even second half just trade deadline is the 01 he even missed a little time with a wrist injury ball got him right in the hand area he had to miss some days and he still hit all those home runs I mean 30 homers more or less in two months that's a season right there for a lot of guys Z2 pitch his way outside that by the way a franchise record and that has a chance to stick around for a good long bit cuz you play more games in the first half than you do the second half that's kind of always been the case boy with him and goldet and his prime it was just really fun watching those two guys every day two and two the count two big strong right-handers that can launch the ball the other way and them hitting right beside one another I mean who do you pitch to the two two is strike three called and that'll do it as that is a massive one two3 inning for Brandon F he's up to five strikeouts it's a pitcher duel in the desert but it's the Mets who lead it two nothing on the Morgan and Morgan [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] $11 off per gallon at the pump with fuel points more savings and and the Southpaw fires in a strike ow and one the count Diamond Backs with one base runner so far as there's a swing highfly ball towards the right field corner it's a long run for Winker now he slows and in the last step of fair territory makes the catch tell what he just missed that one McCarthy did he he that ball was up he got full extension on it but unfortunately it was just a little bit too high didn't quite have the distance right now Power Sports and Polaris are joining forces to give away a 2024 pois Pro R4 ultimate visit row.com Dbacks for your chance to win here's Cel and the first pitch swung on it jammed him out a play though it's going to be nothing in one talked about fow he's just under 70 pitches this is going to be just the 50th pitch of the night for Mania now the 01 swung on and lobbed foul once again almost 75% strikes by man in this one and he's already struck out a half dozen six of the 10 outs have been strikeouts as he just got a piece there did guel on another fast ball in the zone still no balls two strikes Padres lead the Cardinals in St Louis they won yesterday did San Diego as this o02 is in the dirt last I checked it was 7 to5 and that has just gone final another win for the Padres here's the pitch swung on Grounded right to the second base with mcneel gloves and throws to Alonzo for the out first Padre's doing their best diamond back impression candy they got two in the seventh they got one in the ninth three runs in the seventh inning or later had a two-run victory well it's a it's a sign of a club that just like the Diamondbacks they believe they can win right now and that's why you're able to come back for first pitch to Bell that is hit fairly well but very foul no balls in his strike but trying to come inside that time after Bell really just kind of roasted one to right field as first at bat oh one off the plate the only hit of the game belonging to Josh Bell otherwise manah had a one two3 first a one 1233d and if he retires Bell it'll be a one two 34th 1-1 there's a swing in a miss he tried to shovel it out of the dirt they count as one and two Bell sometimes it looks like he's a little bit lost at the plate but it always in the end seems like he makes contact and puts the ball in play somewhere one ball two strikes here's the pitch and a swing and uh oh it hit Alvarez on the hand it knocked his glove off and Alvarez goes running over to his own on Deck Circle holding his hand in a lot of pain and that'll be catcher's interference as Bell I mean he is strong he swings hard and he just nailed the glove right off the hand of the Mets catcher I mean that's a sign to me that a catcher doesn't know quite know that hitter Bell lets the ball get deep on him a lot and he extended his arm all the way out to catch that ball and you know that's just a recipe for disaster and that's what happened to Alvarez Alvarez now walking to the mound it's a mound visit the trainer they're all standing on home plate with the entirety of the Mets infield Carlos bza watching on anxiously Randle gritch is holding Alvarez's catching Mt as he clears off some dirt in the right-handed hitters box he's moving his hand and his fingers a lot as Alvarez which makes me think it's not broken or fractured cuz if he did that that would really hurt oh but I'm sure this was just a stinger and Alvarez is walking back to the Onex Circle I think a little splint he has for his finger came off puts it back on and he's going to stay in the ball game but it's a break for the Diamondbacks they've had nothing working against manah for the most part and now here is gritch like you said tremendous numbers in his career against the Lefty and the tying run at the plate I think this is the guy you want to have up right now he's had good success in the past he just missed the ball as lasted bat got underneath and flew out the Deep left the first one swung on and guided foul into the netting that is his center cut as it gets no balls one strike think getting the fast ball about 91 to about 93 what we're seeing so not overpowering but just seems to get on these guys on ball one strike the fast ball missing High 1-1 swung on and that's fouled back towards the netting one and two two nothing New York two outs bottom of the fourth inning onew on the way that is outside couple of ball balls a couple of strikes now on gritch I mean Bill's been the only base runner for the Dbacks and it's not a guy that can really take advantage of the stolen base now the breaking ball missing badly outside it never broke from manah and the count is full it's going to give Bell a chance to run on the 3-2 pitch whoops boy he really missed that one just got no extension on that pitch 3u swung on and Sky to right routine for Winker he comes in and he'll make the one-handed grab and the Diamondbacks do not score in the bottom of the fourth we're off to the fifth metch two Dbacks nothing of the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks Radio Network [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] efficient appliances and more at the aps Marketplace compare your rate plan options and switch to the plan that would have off and F's first pitch swung on that's a gap shot left center field that is down and that is is cut off by McCarthy but McNeil as we mentioned always hustling makes the turnaround first and his into second with a leadoff double Neil really not having his type of year but still dangerous two seamer going away from him stays inside the ball and is able to drive this ball the other way and a nice job by McCarthy really sprinting over as this ball gets by guriel but he cuts it off and that keeps MC over at second base instead of maybe Third Base Alvarez struck out his first time up but again a dangerous hitter at the plate here's the pitch he swings fouls it away loves going after a fast ball and F put that in a pretty gnarly location up and in yeah he was a little late on that one and remember all the sweepers he threw his last at bat so you know that's in the back of his mind here's the 01 sweeper that's a base hit into right field rounding third and coming home is mcneel Carol's throw nowhere near in time and it's 3 nothing New York with nobody out in the fifth it's almost like he had sold out for the sweeper that time or that bad that's why he was laid on that first pitch fast ball and this one was not a bad sweeper at all it was away off the plate and he just kind of served it there but the thing is he had the timing down and that's why he's able to get a base knock to right yeah you are 100% right he was only looking for his sweeper away he would have swung at one a foot and a half off the plate here's Lindor and he takes off the plate for ball one so the bottom two reach Alvarez gets his 29th RBI of the season and now dcks in a bit of a jam here this one guy you want to hit on the ground right here see if you can get a ground ball one oh ground ball up the middle Newman Dives can't reach it it's into Center Alvarez makes the turnaround second digging for third the throw is cut off and the Mets have opened up the fifth with three consecutive base hits Bo that was only about a foot and a half maybe from becoming a double play ball was hit Chris up the middle part of the field Newman was shaded that way but not quite enough and he had a diving effort but got by his glove and the base hit Alvarez gets over to third here is Vientos he is struck out twice but the Mets have all the momentum right now yeah they're two three four and hitters coming up now here's the first one he's swings and misses and the count is 0 and one that a healthy swing by Vientos yeah he wasn't trying to get a base hit with that swing I think this is a big one for Brandon fought now also love to get a strike out here infield playing medium depth right now here's the 01 pitch and a sweeper is outside one ball and one strike you can see what happens to fought when the command gets a little spotty he's also making himself into a two-pitch pitcher right now we haven't seen the change up that often haven't seen the two seamer that as much usually handles righties really well ground ball to short it goes under the glove of Pomo into left field Alvarez scores and what could have and should have been a double play turns in no outs and a 4run deficit yeah that's a stinger there PMA playing about halfway maybe a little shorter than halfway but when that happens the ball gets you that much quicker but definitely a play that Pomo should have made if he gloves that ball then it's probably an easy double play and here comes Brent straw Mound visit for the entire Diamond Back infield this is a really good visit just to stop maybe some of the momentum and just kind of get Brandon F just keep making your pitches you know try to get the ground balls let's get out of this inning don't give up any anymore about all he could really say to a kid now be a base hit for Vientos here is shock that was a base hit yeah me too they might change that who knows nmo for two but Mets have come out storman in the fifth inning and the pitch is a breaking ball for his strike not sure if that was the sweeper or the curve seems like he's been trying to throw curves a little bit more to the lefties in this game which I think is wise CU he gets hurt with the sweeper oh one check swing roller foul good change up off the plate away just a little check swing by by Nimo that time fou It Off no balls two strikes if ever there were a need for a strike out it would be to Brandon nmo right here right now 02 just missed High not a bad location for a guy like you said loves hunting the fast ball yeah I she surprised he didn't chase that fast B was at the top of the Zone very close to being a strike onew pitch back door breaking ball missed outside two balls two strikes the count an extra base here extra base hit here pardon me would be just a real killer shot and I really mean here anywhere in this inning with the traffic that the Mets have amassed two two pitch swung on line drive that's past the dive a new into right field another base hit Runners had to freeze so they will only move up 90 ft but for the Mets that's their fifth consecutive hit to start the top of the fifth inning and the bases are loaded with nobody out for pet Alonzo ball well struck that time and just gets through but the runners you're right they had to freeze but it doesn't make it any easier with this guy coming up with the bases Juiced already homered off of fought he has consistently been working away to the right-handed hitter and Alonzo lasted bat was really starting to sniff pitches off the plate here's the first one and he went inside and gets the benefit of the call that's a strike that's a break also the like it was a little bit on the inside part but it looks like to me Alonzo's looking for stuff away and that's where you go after him right now the one inside pitch swung on and missed that's a beauty sure was good two seamer and really had some good inward movement to him kind of a feeble swing that time by Alonzo really folded on that pitch Diamondbacks have action up in the bullpen and it's the Lefty Jordan Montgomery I think he's still sitting on sweeper I think he' come back with that same pitch the2 sweeper away but a good margin off the plate even if he had swung at it best he would have done is hit it off the end of the bat I mean you've set up Alonzo perfectly for a two seamer in I agree 100% with that call the one two swung on and fouled away that was not in that was dead Central he got away with that pitch gets that inside he might tie him up Miss Bases Loaded nobody out Mets with a 4 nothing lead they have five hits in this inning another one-w pitch on the way too high two and two the count big pitcher you really don't want to go to three and two we want to put him away here bot throws and got him inside looking and Alonzo with plenty to say as he walks back to the Dugout inside sweeper starts off the plate in and tries to come back to the inside to the inside corner boy just watching Herrera the way he caught it I mean if you just look at the line it catches a little bit of that line on the inside but Herrera was sitting up away and so he really had to reach all the way across the plate to catch that ball and he got the call Alonzo saying it's not even close on a pitch that could not be closer to being a strike but it's a big first out to get now a ground ball and you limit the damage to just two here's the first one to Winker and he thought about it but takes off the plate and that is ball one Winker tonight 0 for two he did ground out to short as last time up Dbacks are playing for the left-handed hitter to pull the ball and really taking everything up the middle and to the right side away here's the 1 oh and that is a called strike it'll make it one and one again off the plate inside but we'll take that call there still surprising I mean it's it's been like this all night yeah good luck telling that to a hitter right one-1 from f is strike two that one just Blitz the inside corner change up too starts off the that's a good movement to it it starts off the plate in and just catches the side part but again fought missing his Target badly on that one the onew to Winker swung on that is hit well left field backing up on it guriel deep enough to score Lindor he'll be the only met that tags and Winker sack fly makes it a 5 nothing New York lead that's a pitch to me that's really scary throwing it to a left-handed hitter for f it's the sweeper you know it's lateral that means it's flat so it doesn't have a lot of tilt to it and if a lefty times that you know they can get on it and Winker just missed that one three have come home to score in this Fifth and that'll bring up the DH JD Martinez again five nothing Mets and the first one swung on rolled over to third that is a foul ball o and one he's has some really good luck with martinez with this sweeper as long as he keeps it out there like that last one this is now three consecutive starts by the way for fought in which he is allowed four runs or more certainly not what you are hoping to see as you get ready to go for a stretch run espe this part of the schedule right here oh one big swing by Martinez fouled a fast ball away you can see that he's looking for the sweeper he was late on that fast ball very hitable one and a count nothing at two a look at second here's the pitch fast ball good margin off the plate this will be F's last inning he's at 95 pitch es and outside of a 1 two three first it has been just a slog through every inning after that one ball two strikes here's the pitch and that's outside two and two Vientos at second nmo at first know he could really tie Martinez up with that two seamer in a lot like Alonzo Chu swing in a foul ball Herrera could not secure it been a big inning for the Mets they scored three times already and a base hit would likely bring in a fourth run this is really testing the depths of this diamond back offense it was a two two pitch swung on Grounded to short backhanded by Pomo and a very late throw to first off Target Martinez is going to be safe Pomo got the footwork all wrong he is having a tough day at short as the bases are reloaded and Tyrone Taylor coming up but not before a pitching change is made called to the bullpen brought to you by Sanderson Ford best in new Fort at Sanderson Ford that's it for f he leaves with the bases loaded and five already in we'll tell you who the new pitcher is after this on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks radio network hi this is Luis Gonzalez the Sanderson Ford summer sale event is [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] for [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Arizona Sports 987 in the Arizona Sports a really struggled in the rotation this year 8-6 with a 6.44 ER he made 19 starts for the Diamondbacks this will be his second ever appearance out of the bullpen his first since 2019 but with six starting pitchers in the rotation once Eduardo Rodriguez and Merill Kelly came back it was really a battle between him and Ryan Nelson Nelson the left last one standing and his first action will be with the bags Juiced first pitch to Taylor inside and Taylor acting like it hit him Emil Jimenez didn't see it so the Mets are going to challenge and I imagine they wouldn't be doing that unless they were pretty confident that he was hit by the pitch if that's the case it's a sixth run in for New York yeah not a good way for M to start a breaking ball really sweeps down and in oh oh completely got him it's going to be a hit by pitch that will allow Vientos to score just ACH they're saying no hit by pitch and now the Mets are officially going to challenge you have to make a ruling on the play first and then decide what you want to do challenging so there's the announcement of the challenge our replay reviews brought to you by Planet Fitness Get Fit For Less 15 bucks a month well just watching Taylor the way he reacted immediately he could completely see the ball hit his foot the shoe actually even moves some and if you're a right-handed hitter no better pitch to be hit by than a curveball from a lefty you got all day to see it coming at you all right so the call has been overturned we kind of knew that was going to happen that run will be assessed to fought that is the sixth earning for him and this is just an inning to forget for the Diamondbacks two or pardon me that's the first hit by pitch in this inning but six hits in the frame and one hit from mcneel this thing might be done and dusted well you know this offense the Deb backs have theyve been so good at coming back but you still have to be able to give them a chance a situation out in left field not sure if someone got into an argument or what the situation is they were trying to desperately get the attention of security that that was the fans who were trying to grab the attention attention and the play will resume here on the field here's the pitch to Jeff mcneel he swings and sends a screamer foul into the netting and the count is 0 and one Pomo really playing up the middle of the field here to expose is the whole left side Suarez with the guy in third has to be a little bit towards that bag Neil's a contact hitter he spray hitter another swing another foul by mcneel to count as 0 and two McNeil was the one who led off this inning with a first pitch double into left Center Here Comes Montgomery's 02 off offering and mcneel check swing and on appeal held one ball two strikes to count Bases Loaded two outs the one-w on the way and that is rolled over to first but again it goes foul well M gy coming in with a lot of breaking balls to O'Neal or McNeil and he keeps bailing on him but he still just gets a little piece of him another one too is too high from Montgomery two balls and two strikes to count this is a long fifth inning forget the runs and the Batters I mean from a minute standpoint this inning has gone on for well more than a half hour yeah a lot of pitches thrown and now the two- two is slow ball three well that's the last thing mtgy wanted to do with two outs everyone will be on the move now McNeil going to use that timeout and less than an ideal start would be hit by pitch walk here's a 3-2 and that is exactly what has happened breaking ball missed low and away that's a walk another run comes in and it's 7 nothing Mets now Montgomery comes in he's got a hit by pitch and a walk there you could tell he might be a little bit Rusty not getting in that Strike Zone enough and now here's Alvarez and he will take a first pitch strike this is a guy who as we mentioned he can really crank it well he'll be trying here with the B's juice too really good numbers in this ballpark in his young career Montgomery's 01 pitch and Alvarez will take o just below the knees good looking pitch there doesn't get the call it's one and one Montgomery's 1-1 swung on and fouled out of play one and two the count well I don't think he could have swung much harder than he did right there he let everything go and sometimes when you swing really hard the swing gets a little long and I think that's what happened with him one two high Chopper to short backing up Pomo knocks it down but he can't make the play throws to third back in there safely [Music] I think pdo's got The Yips tonight he is having a very difficult night we haven't seen these kind of nice from for Pomo in a long time but another play that should have been made that was not had a reach back on ball didn't read it right away and popped out of his glove picked it up and that's all he could do is try to throw the third base and he was in his glove and it just squirted out didn't hit off it I mean he was right in the glove he just did not close it and that E6 allows a run to score Diamond Backs have just Fallen apart in this fifth inning yeah defensively especially too here's Lindor and he will take a strike [Music] called been a long time since we've seen a game like this for the Dbacks here's the o one Lindor swings sends one foul right side out of play and Montgomery is ahead 0 and two it's almost one thing you can always count on with the Diamondbacks is just how good they've been defensively so we're not used to seeing you know kind of a defensive let down so to speak in a game 02 swing and a miss Montgomery Strikes Out Lindor the inning is over MET score six they do it on five hits an error a hit by pitch and a walk we go to the bottom of the fifth Mets 8 Dbacks nothing in the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks radio network Baseball fans it's time to switch things up this August e e [Applause] this gajola alongside Tom candotti we're also joined by Steve zinb Leo G Martin our producer engineer and Enrique Garcia our technical director boy Dbacks ran into just a car crash of a fifth inning 12 guys to the plate that met sent the first pitch to Gino Suarez swung on and missed the count o and one8 nothing the lead they also out hitting the Diamondbacks 8 to one and Diamondbacks having trouble figuring Shawn manay out he's been tough the 01 missed one ball one strike still plenty of time left for this Diamondback group but it has been uh to put it mildly just a sloppy performance for a team that had been razor sharp for about two months 1-1 swinging a miss one and two meanwhile manah even though the Mets have put eight on the board he might be the best performer on the field the way he's thrown the ball onew pitch just got a piece did swarez six strikeouts in four innings under 70 pitches he's constantly just pounding the strike zone a lot of fast balls and he gets another strikeout here pulled the string on Suarez that is number seven one out in the fifth inning look he swung over the top this ball just kept breaking in on him and had no answer for it'll bring up Carol he struck out his first time up and he takes off the plate for ball one well the Padres have already won today Dodgers in progress against Baltimore Orioles with a 3-2 lead as the 10 is too high to Carrol if this result holds the Padres will be in a tie with the Diamondbacks for second in the division and both teams would be three back of LA obviously that changes with a win by the Dodgers two balls one strike on Corbin here's the 2-1 and he looks at strike two I think corbus having a difficult time with the delivery of manah I said it's not quite like a crossfire but his momentum kind of jumps towards the first base foul line then he throws across his body and he has a difficult time that left these do strike three called and Carol strikes out for the second time that's eight strikeouts for manah not only is the delivery tough but the location has been right on the money and with a wide Strike Zone that he's had all night to work with he's getting those struck out his first time up here's the pitch SW on hit well left field sends nmo back but he'll make the catch and after the Mets send 12 to the plate to the top of the fifth the Dbacks go down in order as we go to the sixth inning New York 8 Diamondbacks nothing on the Morgan and Morgan dcks Radio Network [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] hey dback fans Dr J Schwarz the team I doctor for from Jordan Montgomery outside for ball one hey earn points for dback rewards on game tickets exclusive merchandise and more by shopping participating products at Fri food stores visit fries ./ dags for details Montgomery pumps in his strike that'll leaving the count at one and one now the 1-1 is in the dirt two balls one strike uh one of the things as we were getting ready going always just look at what's happening in our game would you like to pay attention to what's happening around the league right Royals are playing very well yeah of course two1 swung on fouled away the reds are not a team much to talk about only because they're probably not going to make the postseason this year and frustrating year in Cincinnati but you know their's Superstar La DEA Cruz a lot of holes in his swing were kind of exposed last year a lot of work put in the off season playing so well and running better than he was last year boy can he run 61 stolen bases before the end of August as a two- two that is swung on lifted high in the air left center it's McCarthy who moves over towards the Gap makes the catch there's one out here to begin the sixth inning he's on Pace right now for 75 stolen Paces obviously you have yourself a good weekend you can get up to 80 but that number 70 is just not a number a whole lot of guys have reached in a single season you don't see that that much anymore here's nmo and he takes a first pitch strike from Montgomery the last two guys over the last 25 years actually more than that closer to 35 years with 75 steals as there's a line shot foul Kenny Lofton did it back in 96 now were you ever teammates with Kenny Lofton yes briefly yeah he must have just been coming up with Cleveland correct he was that was in 99 right towards the end of my career oh where I went back to Cleveland and played and Kenny was there one ball and two strikes 75 and 96 oh he was great go get him in center field he's a really underrated player you look at his war and his war is up there with Hall of Fame consideration the onew swung on and fouled back if you're a a younger baseball fan and you saw the way that Curtis Granderson played Kenny Lofton was that and probably a little bit more on defense and speed I mean he was such a good defensive center fielder just Dynamic leadoff hitter now the onew to n there's a little popup towards third foul and it's going to land where nobody could reach it just kind of an awkward like a excuse me swing that ball was right on his knuckles that looked like a firework that malfunction that's what it was just kind of fizzled out after not really getting Airborne no but the other guy we were talking about actually played for the Mets and you want to talk about underrated Jose r back in 2007 had 78 Steals and that was another really Dynamic player he can pop about 20 homers on you too that's a well struck line drive into right field that's going to go all the way to the wall and enimo makes the turn around first now he's going to dig hard around second and then slam on the brakes it'll be a one out double but it's another hit for New York there in ninth and that brings up Pete Alonzo once again we said Montgomery's been throwing so many curve balls to lefties in this little short outing that he's had so far but nmo was on it normally not a really good breaking ball hitter but he jumped all over that hook it is taken Montgomery 26 pitches to get three outs in this one filling in for Relief second career relief appearance for the left-hander and the first one to Alonzo in the dirt skips away from Herrera that will allow nmo to move to Third and that pretty much on theme for the Diamondbacks here tonight yeah not very sharp again that's a change up and he spiked that in fact it almost got Alonzo on the feet Herrera kind of half started to move over to blocking it and then just stuck the glove out infield is in as's the one oh there's a I didn't want to do it but I did swinging Miss there from Alonso one ball one strike Alonzo one for three with a homer here comes a one- one just off the plate outside two balls in one strike not a bad location for Montgomery pitchers in this game have gotten a little more juice from pitches a little bit up in the strike zone you can work in and out and still get the call down not so much as this 2-1 is in the dirt ball three three balls in a strike another change up down I think once Alonzo sees it I think he becomes a little bit more aware what he's trying to do one out the 3-1 is on the way and Alonzo swings and sends it foul Full Count here comes another 3-2 pitch and Alonzo takes strike three he knew it too nice pitch that time the back door curveball fooled him after all those change UPS then gave him one fast ball to hit fouled it off and then he fooled him with the back door hook that had a lot of shape to it as well Harrison Bader that'll bring up Harrison Bader pinch hitting for Jesse Winker Bader is a platoon hitter I think the Mets are aware Montgomery brought in to try and eat up a lot of this this game so they figure why not try and get the most have another right-handed bat in the lineup Bader with a slightly open stance and here's the first pitch he will take a knee high strike Mets lead this one 8 to nothing Diamondbacks one hit through five innings we are in this sixth runner at third two outs so the 01 from Montgomery is cut on and missed really not even close to that curveball chased it off the plate away well for the Mets they care very much about what happens with Atlanta as they try and track him down for the third wild card spot was that curveball nicely blocked by Herrera one and two and unfortunately for Mets fans Atlanta winners today against Minnesota Minnesota conceding four runs in the top of the 10th inning four ouch they lose 8 to six now the onew to Bader and that's downstairs try the change up couple of balls couple of strikes fond in this one tonight four and 2/3 eight runs six earned there's a swing line drive center field McCarthy came in he'll make the catch and that'll do it for the Mets here in the sixth inning no runs a hit no errors a man left at third bottom of the Six coming up again all New York as they're in front 8 to nothing on the Morgan and Morgan dags radio network we're chatting with our guest always Safety First [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] next race against cancer presented by dignity Cancer Institute the race is back downtown at Chase Field on Sunday September 29th register now a bottom of the sixth inning he'll look at a strike from manah count is 0 and one Mets with a command in8 nothing lead here in this spot of the six they have just come out with a allout blitz against the Dbacks is the 01 pitch way outside one ball one strike I have the Dbacks really have not played like themselves at all in this one very careless mistakes I would say defensive side of things as that is swung on and found out of play and then on offense usually a team that really does a good job grinding down starting pitchers they've just been overmatched by man here tonight yeah only one hit no runs I mean it's been it's been a tough one couple of balls a couple of strikes now manah has struck out eight so far and five innings of work his season high is 11 and he gets another strike out here that's his ninth this the fast ball pretty much right down the middle and Herrera just can't time it up here is Pomo 0 for two with two looking strikeouts and the first pitch is breaking ball in there for a called strike going and one he also picked up his second error of the year but he's had about three ground balls to him and was that one SW on hit hard but fouled and misplayed those though those were ruled hits into our fielders choices but given the caliber defense he's played really since he's arrived candy it's the 02 that is popped up weekly to First and in defoul territory Alonzo makes the catch I mean even the bats now usually were used to him grinding those at bats out seeing some pitches spoiling some pitches but not in this game oh it is an almost outof body experience for him and that'll bring up McCarthy who is over [Music] two bottom of the sixth inning two outs and Jake takes a strike now the 01 swinging a miss that 93 is playing like 103 with some of the swings I said I think a lot of it is his delivery and his arm slot here's the o02 breaking ball missed outside and not only that his command I was about to say he has thrown every pitch seemingly anywhere he's wanted to tonight y he's keeping the pressure on the Diamond Back hitters he's working quick he's hitting the glove the onew and McCarthy swings and foul tips it into the glove of manah it's a one two3 inning he's got 10 strikeouts and he's retired nine in a row we go to the seventh Mets lead at 8 nothing on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks Radio Network [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] dback fans when dback players tally 10 hits or more in a game and Martinez swings and fouls that first pitch he sees off to the right and dignity Health our team of Orthopedic experts can help keep you in motion and let joint pain put your life on pause visit dignityhealth.org Ortho to learn more here's the 01 swinging in a Miss that's a really nice change up I think after he gets some of the pitches under him takes him a while to get into it because this is a starting pitcher trying to be converted into a reliever right now so it's going to take him some pitches to get into the game or really to get his command down and let's hope he found it he's still bouncing some pitches curveball the change up it's a little bit of an adjustment for him Martinez tonight walked and singled he also struck out in the fourth inning couple of runs scored for him the real damage though that sixth run fifth inning now Montgomery comes set and Lefty onew swung on hit in the air to Center Martinez was reaching for it hit it off the end of the bat and it's a routine catch made by Jake yeah that's a nice pitch and and a good out nice and easy to center field make him keep him right in the major the big part of the field that's what you want to do with JD and look obviously this was a tricky spot that Diamondbacks were in candy you had a a veteran pitcher guy who won the World Series last year beating this team comes over to Arizona doesn't have the success he's looking for you know said publicly that he really was not a fan of how his agent handled the negotiations in the off season and you've got to sit him down and tell hey we're we're basically benching you so to speak we're moving you out of the rotation a spot you've been your whole career as the one is swung on in missed by Tyrone Taylor and the way that Montgomery's contract was organized he has a vesting option where he can lock into next year if he wants to and based off of just the the numbers it seems like he's going to do that so all that to say these are still two sides that need to find a way to work harmoniously together because it's looking like it's going to be another full year next year here's a 2-1 pitch swung on Grounded foul and look I mean the last point I'll say about that that everyone in the rotation now is under contract next year assuming you don't trade gallon away with one year left on his deal so got to find a way to make this marriage work was a two- two is reached four hit towards left Center and racing over is McCarthy to make the grab two outs and that will bring up Jeff mcneel another good pitch on a curveball it kept it down and got him to reach for that ball a little bit and Taylor's a good power hitter and kind of take the sting out of the swing and get an easy Fly ball here's the left-handed hitting mcneel first pitch from Montgomery is a check swing they say that was strike they did and it count is z and one now the Lefty comes set and with two outs Here Comes his 01 offering mcneel Scoops it foul no balls two strikes McNeil when he hits you're not going to see a lot of lower body movement with him really hits with his hands that's why he doesn't hit maybe for a a lot of power but he's a pretty good contact hitter really having an off year this year two outs the 02 swung on line drive to First caught by Bell and that is a one two3 top of the seventh we go to the bottom of the seventh stretch time in the desert all Mets in this one they lead at 8 nothing on the Morgan and Morgan dbx radio network the seventh inning stretch brought to you by Arizona complete Health transforming the health of the community one person at a time one ODU Lord is scel JR swung on and smashed out to left field that is going to be just over the wall gone and the Diamondbacks finally get something off of Shan manah a solo Homer the 16th of the year for guelle it's 8 to1 what a nice swing by guel that time on a change up manah doesn't give up a lot of home home runs that's only the 15th that he's given up guel with a really good job getting a low change up and being able to put some back spin on this ball and get it just out of the ballpark with that trip around the diamond stop by Eddie Daniels Jewelers and a home run for your free team bracelet and $50 gift card toward any purchase of $99 or more Daniels Jewelers own the dream that's a good way to start this inning D backs need a lot more of that here over the final three but they are baseball best seventh inning or later offense one ball no strikes to Bell there's a healthy swing and miss and if you'll notice Alvarez caught that ball a good distance behind Bell yes he's learned his lesson 1-1 there's a strike fast ball bottom of the Zone Alvarez with the catcher interference Bell hit him so hard he knocked the glove off the catcher's hand one and two on Bell here's the pitch swung on there's a little excuse me swing and a flare into right that's down for a hit Bell's second and the Dbacks have another base runner with the DH Randle gritch coming up well that's an inside sweeper he was throwing down and in and just a short almost 3/4 swing and he scooped oops this ball right into short Right Center that's kind of a magic hit right there with that home run the dcks are safe at home with blue sky Pest Control the official Pest Control provider for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Chase Field here's gritch swing and a foul tip the count o and one well this is where you need a real positive result from gritch boy wide open left field line too and now he takes High one ball one strike his last home run against the Guardians in that double header I mean he absolutely crushed one over that left field wall that Progressive the 11-1 swung on and popped up on the infield Alonzo waving everybody away and he will make the catch just to the right of the dirt on the mound that is a over from Richie the ball was hit straight up in the air Lonzo was calling for the ball and just watching the pitchure manah he just scrammed he got up the mound almost ran towards the third Baseline and Alonzo caught that ball with maybe one foot going up on the mound the first one to Gino is in tight for ball one bottom of the seventh one out Mets with an 8-1 lead so now the Lefty comes set and the pitch breaking ball outside third for a strike Mets have a right-hander up and throwing in the bullpen as manah close to 100 pitches in his start 1-1 too high Suarez ahead here two balls one strike love to see Gino get a hold of one right here he's been on such a great stretch boy swing and miss that was the perfect pitch in the perfect location and he's made a lot of those in this game I mean he's really had the Dbacks just really befuddled 2 two swung on and pulled on the ground foul so he went fast ball high that was taken then he went with a change up that just snuck under the strike zone and Suarez missed that then he goes breaking ball in he's kind of showed him everything in this at bat two2 strike three called 11 strikeouts for manah yeah and that's one thing about manah in this game he's really taking advantage of kind of a lenient Strike Zone it's been there for both teams but he's been able to execute his pitches and hit his catcher Target and that's why the dback hitters are having a difficult time with them well he struck out Carrol twice and that one wolf up and in unfortunately for the bottom six hitters in this lineup it's a night to forget they are combined 0 for n with seven strikeouts now Carol swings puts a charge into this one deep right center field Taylor back track W Way Gone by Carol two run shot his 15th and the Diamondbacks pulled within five it's now 8 to three my goodness did that ball jump off his Bat 106 M an hour's worth and that ball was way up on the ledge and right center field showing some power and that is going to be it for sha manah called to the bullpen brought you by Sanderson Ford best play in new Ford at Sanderson Ford very quickly our home run by Carol with that trip around the diamond stopped by any Daniels Jewelers and say home run for your free team bracelet and $50 gift card toward any purchase of $99 or more Daniels Jewelers own the dream manah out rander in [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] savior's tour fueled by Monster Energy the Arizona Diamondbacks play here Arizona Sports 987 and the Arizona Sports app Reed Garrett is on to pitch for the Mets the 31-year-old right-hander is making his 41st appearance this season 7 and five with a 391 ra he works to Kevin Newman the first one to Newman is taken for a strike fastball vo at 97 mph Dbacks with three runs in the bottom of the seventh they've cut what was a enormous deficit down to something slightly more manageable it's 8 to3 the 01 from Garrett is down low one ball and one strike the count Garrett was a former 16th rounder by the Rangers out of the Virginia Military Institute can't imagine that has produced a ton of Major League Talent over the years I was just thinking the same thing one swung on and missed count one ball and two strikes last year start of the season with Baltimore but struggled at an eay at over 10 and just a couple of appearances and at that point Orioles ready to move on Mets picked him up been there ever since one-w pitch Newman broken back comebacker oh it's knocked down by Garrett but he tumbles off the back of the mound and the ball just comes to a stop right in front of the dirt and Newman will be safe I mean the ball wasn't hit that hard either but this is what happens when a pitcher is not in good Fielding position doesn't have a lot of balance when he finishes after he delivers the pitch momentum carrying him towards first base and his Ball's hit just a little behind him and he really got all tied up trying to make a play on that and end up falling over you know the center for pitchers who can field advocacy group has really taken a hit with that play well I think you know with guys really trying to throw the ball as hard as they can I mean it's when you're maximum effort throwers sometimes you know you don't have good balance when you finish did they rule that a hit I'm not seeing an error on the board that concerns me they ruled that a base hit my goodness 58 mph off the bat swinging a foul tip it's Halloween every day here just show up put it in play they give out hits like candy incredible a comebacker to the P anyways one ball one strike Dbacks will take it any which way they can and now the pitch to Herrera swung on and fouled back 97 High riding top of the Zone it's one and two M gar got a good arm he runs the fast ball about 97 if you could just kind of flick it the other way maybe get a knock the left field swinging a ground ball base hit into right rounding second Newman on his way to Third and the Dbacks making some noise here in this seventh inning they've got two On and Here Comes Pomo well forget left field he turned on it stroked it hard right into right field me Here Comes This offense and here comes the pitching coach that is Jeremy Hefner all of a sudden the men who felt probably indestructible after that sixth inning feeling a little vulnerable right now and the Diamond Backs during this good run candy they have come up with a lot of clutch two out hits this would be one if you could get this thing down to four with two innings to play diamond back would feel good about that they certainly would and especially when you have two outs of course the big home run by Corbin and now two base hits boy Pomo could just do something here the way it seems like he's done this all year long on with the bat just kind of keep it going he has had his confidence shaken has Pomo in the beginning of this game three plays that he normally makes he couldn't make any of them but he could fill that confidence right back with a base hit first and third two outs and the pitch from Garrett swung on and popped up on the infield third baseman Vientos underneath it he will make the catch and that is going to do it for the Diamondbacks in the seventh they get three they strand two we go to the eighth it's now an A3 ball game on the Morgan and Morgan dback radio network DB fan this Summer's hottest game is labor day's matchup against our division rival e e e time and backs got some back they were down eight nothing the deficit now is 8-3 as Francisco Alvarez will lead off obviously more work to be done here's the pitch to Alvarez and Montgomery Miss misses low with a sinker on ball no strikes good opportunity now for a shutdown inning keep that momentum on the Deep back side no you're only down by five now here's the 1 oh swung on Grounded left side right to Suarez he Scoops shuffles and throws across in time one out and that will bring up top of the order in Francisco Lindor boy gin so smooth at third base he just gobbles up every ground ball and just makes it look so easy two for four is Lindor with a double and the first pitch grounded to short Pomo has it and the throw to first in time two up two down for Vientos well it looks like Montgomery now you go back to the seventh inning where he had a one two three inning got the first two guys out here on ground balls that's the type of pitcher he is being a ground ball pitcher getting you know using your infielders to get outs bentos is one for four first pitch is a strike even though Herrera couldn't catch it never a great look as that's going to make it 0 and one Bento still arguing with the Empire it's been like that all game Phil maton throwing for the Mets in the bullpen and look when you have six outs and you need five just to tie it up right the the math the probability is against you but that doesn't mean that Diamondbacks can't still achieve some things that will help them win this series as the 01 is going to be downstairs one ball and one strike right you really put a hurt on that Bullpen and all of a sudden now you're requiring good starts from your starters next couple of days as the one-1 pitch is grounded left side tough play Pomo can't reach it it's in the six hole and it just goes rolling into left field to base hit ah Vientos hit that right where nobody could get it just another ground ball but this time it had eyes was able to get through the left side of the infield that'll bring up Brandon nmo and the first one to nmo that's a strike bottle The Zone City of Oak Cancer Center is making major breakthroughs at treating cancer pioneering Technologies with life-saving speed now the experts are closer to home turning hope into reality more at cityof hope.org two outs the 01 nmo thought about it but he takes low and one the count Montgomery ready and his one-1 effort is swung on that is a little flare and it's going to dink into left field holding it second is Vientos that's another ball where there was just no Defender able to reach it and for the Mets it's another couple of hits and that will bring up Pete Alonzo I mean that just pitching in bad luck that time made a good pitch and just up and away and this balls just kind of flared out that way actually up and in to nmo and just kind of flared it short left field nothing you can do about that here comes Herrera to talk things [Music] over probably just going over to make sure what to throw or sometimes and more importantly candy what not to throw for mcgomery a lot of [Music] his pitches that sort of equalize the fast ball have been that curveball and Alonzo's a guy who especially if you just hang one middle way he will Hammer that thing to right field here he struck him out as last time he faced him on that ball inside got the call Alonzo is a guy that likes to extend his arms first and second for the Mets two outs important that they do not score and the first one is in the dirt and Herrera with a sliding stop one ball no strikes one for four is Alonzo with a homer but he's also got two looking strikeouts now the 10 pitch inside to Alonzo ball two two and 0 Bader is on Deck 8 to3 our score Montgomery ready he's going to step off look back the runners the 2- swung on hot shot to third knocked down by Suarez and the throw to first in time nicely done by Gino and the inning comes to a close as the Mets get two hits but they don't score we go to the bottom of the eighth inning it is still the Mets eight and the Diamond bags three on the Morgan and Morgan dags radio network we're chatting with our guest always Safety First a [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] go August 30th through September 1st enjoy called to the bullpen brought to you by Sanderson Ford best playing in new Ford is it Sanderson Ford Phil maton is on 31-year-old Native out of Kentucky in his eighth season of the majors Works to Jake mccarth there's a base hit off the bat little dinker down the left field line and McCarthy not going to stop at first he's into second with a leadoff double well last set you saw the Mets get a Little Blooper to left field McCarthy does them the same thing as just kind of bloops it had a lot of s spins so when it hit it really took off towards the left field foul line and with Jake's great speed he's able to get into second watch all diveing back games in Market both live and On Demand during the 20 24 season for only 34.99 with db. subject to National exclusivities Visit db. TV for more information here is gel he homered his last time up and he takes a well thrown fast ball on the outside corner for a strike that Homer kind of got this diamond back offense going yeah they needed something and that delivered it to get three runs that inning the1 swung on hit hard but fouled well that home run our cool play of the game brought to you by Chaz Roberts go to Chaz roberts.com for Arizona's leader in heating Plumbing Cooling and caring Chaz Robert serving you since 42 and all of a sudden action up in that Bullpen for the Mets once again 02 swung on and fouled [Music] away now MTO doesn't have near the stuff that Diamondbacks have been seeing his fast ball is right around 90 91 it's it's not an overpowering one so he relies on movement and location to be successful another 02 is off the plate one ball and two strikes Diamondbacks are also really clamping down on the quality of these at bats very porous first six Innings but since then doing a lot better laying off pitches out of the zone and attacking the ones in the zone one two his way outside two balls two strikes to count those last two I know it's a cutter or sweeper but way off the plate up one of those pitches it's easy to take rander comes set the two two breaking ball qot up the first base line and it goes just foul I can't believe maton let that go had probably had an out and that ball just had so much spin to it and the gel's credit a lot of hitters will just kind of give up running to first on a ball like that but he ran hard all the way down the line checking out the end of his Bat now make sure it's all intact mcarthy it's second and a pitch from maton way outside ball three I said easy to take some of these pitches he's thrown he's really missing with him it's the same pitch it's a sweeper he is starting it off the plate to rties and it is running further away kind of making him a little one-dimensional at the moment 32 Jam shot grounded to First and guriel nearly fell out of the box that'll be an easy play for Alonzo that's a better pitch by mton as McCarthy gets to Third and one down for Josh Bell well this ball was off the plate inside but close enough where guel felt he had to swing at it with two strikes and just an easy Q shot like you said that's one of the things we talked about in the finale against the Red Sox mean you look at lordes this year almost 500 plate appearances 23 walks first pitch to Bell as a strike looked a little high and that'll draw the eye of the fans the coaches players certainly the ones in the gold you can tell the fans are into it the1 and Bell takes outside one ball one strike well at the minimum you got to get this run home ideally you'd like to try and get one more as jock Peterson's come on to the Onex Circle and Mets do you have a lefty up as the 1-1 is low and in two balls one strike 8 to3 RS score Diamondbacks have a runner at third with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning here's the 2-1 and Bell takes inside ball three again that is just a pitch he has not landed for a strike and he has not really made it close where you'd even want to be interested in [Music] swinging 3-1 swing and a miss curveball that time yeah I don't think he was waiting for a curveball I think he was fooled well if he threw that 3-1 he's most likely going to throw something like that 32 here's the pitch swung on and shot foul went to the fast ball 90 mph up in the zone but Josh just a little bit behind that ball you could tell he was looking for something off speed Runner third one out 32 from maton swung on Little Blooper up to Second and it's going to be caught by mcneel as McCarthy retreats to third well curveball again this ball was way inside and was a little bit too aggressive that time and popped it up to second base so jock introduced as the pinch hitter out comes Carlos Mendoza to bring in the Leander the skull to the bullpit is brought you by Sanderson Ford a best play in new Ford as it Sanderson Ford we'll tell you more about the new [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] 30 years old at of point in Beach Florida young in his first season with a Mets 2 and0 3.10 ER making appearance number 30 and he is brought in specifically to counter Jack Peterson jock trying to do anything he can to extend the inning and bring up Suarez as the dcks are down 8 to3 they have a runner at third two outs young a tall slender Lefty at his first pitch is a frisbee like sweeper that missed away that had a ton of horizontal run on the pitch one ball no strikes left chander ready here's the one0 nearly hit jock spun out of the way probably wishes he didn't although he did get hit three times uh the road trip that one almost got him that was just a breaking ball that never broke just kind of casted it out there jock just did a little perette move to avoid it two outs but a two- count here's the pitch and that's a strike fired a fast ball on the lower inside cornered did Young and the count two balls one strike two outs and the 2-1 pitch swinging a Miss that's a hard one there that was a a sweeper kind of started a little bit on the inside part ended up on the outside part two and two the count L of room up the middle of the field [Music] 22 on the way and Peterson swings and misses down on strikes the inning is over dags don't score off to the ninth we go it is the Mets eight and the Diamondbacks three on the Morgan and Morgan dags radio network hi this is Luis Gonzalez the Sanderson Ford summer sale event [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Dr foror Arizona Diamondbacks has three Valley locations one in Mesa one in Scottdale and one in Glendale for inning Jordan Montgomery still on the mound for the Diamond bags and Harrison Bader will lead it off for New York B lead this opener 8 to3 and the first pitch from Montgomery is lashed out into left field but coming into make the catches guriel line drive out first pitch of the ninth one down for Martinez well you'll take that especially after given a couple seeing eye base hits he'll take the line drive for an out and the MS of Adam adino warming up likely he will go in the ninth inning not sure if they'll have him start the ninth or if they'll leave young in to face Carroll Martinez with a line drive face hit into left excuse me center field and that's two pitches two swings two balls put in play Martinez On and Here Comes Tyrone Taylor Tyrone Taylor Martinez a very good hitter just went down looked like he was looking out there and just hooked one right into Center that had a little draw spin on it as well Taylor 0 for four here's the pitch he will take a breaking ball from Montgomery downstairs ball one well Montgomery 64 pitches thrown in relief and for the Diamond Backs today the first of 13 games in 13 days one line drive over the leaping effort of swarez down the left field line Martinez aggressively rounds second to throw to third cut off it wouldn't have been accurate enough anyways to get Martinez that's a double for Taylor and the Mets now with two in scoring position and only one out for Jeff mcneel boy this was a curveball wouldn't even have been called a strike it was really down almost above the dirt but Taylor really went down and almost golfed this ball to left field right over schwarz's leaping glove now the Mets are back in business infield is in for Arizona down by five and mcneel a high contact guy has a huge hole on the left side of the infield SZ close to the bag at third Pomo close to the bag at second and he will take a first pitch strike that is well thrown by Montgomery certainly could use a strike out here one out and now the 01 pitch swung on Grounded right back to Montgomery looks Martinez back to third threw a little high but fortunately Bell a tall figure on the mound able to jump make the catch in time well that's just as good as a strike out a comebacker right back to you freezes the runners they can't advance and then get the guy out of first and that brings up Alvarez one for four tonight first pitch Alvarez huge swinging a miss and the count is 0 and one well if Montgomery can get the out here that would be four and a third Innings of relief in which there were no earned runs allowed certainly a step in the right direction but first the 01 pitch and that is off the plate we had kind of saw Montgomery's last couple of starts candy where he was going well towards the very end of his outing and then got clipped for two or three runs that kind of changed the outlook on the performance yeah you can kind of get a little tired and when he loses his location that's where he gets hurt ground ball to third Suarez collects and and to throw a good one to First in time excellent job by Montgomery in relief four and a third scoreless we go to the ninth last chance for the Dbacks they need five to tie they need six to walk it off when we come back on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks Radio Network celebrate hispan e e e Changed by the Mets as we get started for the bottom of the ninth inning Adam anino will take over on the mound two and two with a 4.56 ER this C of the bullpen is brought to you by Sanderson Ford best playing in new Ford is it Sanderson Ford ovino 38 years old the O2 is outside one and two they got three runs in the seventh they had a runner at third with one out in the eighth but couldn't bring him home and now the onew from mavino is a fast ball outside two balls two strikes on Deck is Carol he homered his last time up two two on the way and swarz swings and misses another strike out for the Mets pitching staff boy he's made some good pitches on that time then put him away with the fast ball but right on the line on the outside corner that's a tough pitch to hit that brings up Carol Diamondbacks have the fifth lowest strikeout rate in the majors coming into play today as Carol takes a called strike count as0 and one all of the teams above them have playoff aspirations the Guardians the Astros the Royals and the Padres unfortunately the Diamondbacks have struck out 13 times today as now the 01 pitch is inside to Carroll and they count even at one and one Luis Kor on deck one out the 1-1 and Carol takes a back door breaking ball outside two balls one strike know even a would be beneficial here just to get a base runner just needs something oino two1 offering to Carroll is swung on and that is a towering popup on the infield Lonzo drifting in front of the base into Val territory makes the catch and the Diamondbacks are down to their final out I mean that ball had some Hang Time that was straight up and way up there well a somewhat warm Ovation for goret by the Mets fans who made the trip out to Chase Field goret spent a majority of his career playing for New York six seasons in total and the first pitch from monino is a slow curveball for a called strike ik drafted by the Mets in the 10th round out of Coral Springs Charter School he debuted in 2018 as a 23-year-old now he swings sends one to left field Nimo went back now comes in and he makes the catch ball game is over Diamondbacks made too many mistakes they dug themselves a hole they could not pull out of and they dropped the opener by a final score of 8 to3 and candy and I will break it down right after this so the Morgan and DB radio network follow Arizona sports for DBS breaking
