WATCH: Scattered storms likely Sunday PM, some strong to severe

SOME SPORTS OR FOOTBALL OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, BECAUSE TODAY IS AN IMPACT DAY. THAT'S RIGHT. YEAH. YOU'RE RIGHT. ADRIANA. IT WOULD NOT. AND IT'S UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE TODAY IS THE LAST HOME GAME FOR THE WINSTON-SALEM DASH IN WINSTON-SALEM, WHICH WHICH IS SAD IN ITSELF, BUT I'M SAD WE DON'T HAVE A BETTER FORECAST FOR YOU. IF YOU IF YOU PLAN TO HEAD OUT TO ONE OF THOSE GAMES AROUND THE AREA, IT'S IT'S A FIRST PITCH AT 7:00 THIS EVENING. AND THAT'S THAT'S KIND OF PRIME TIME FOR WHEN THESE STORMS ARE GOING TO BE MOVING THROUGH. SO SO I'VE GOT FUTURECAST READY GOING TO HELP YOU PLAN OUT YOUR DAY, GET AROUND THESE STORMS. IF YOU HAVE OUTDOOR PLANS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING, MAYBE DOING SOMETHING FOR LABOR DAY. I WANT TO STRESS TO YOU JUST TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE RADAR AND BE AWARE THAT STORMS WILL BE AROUND LATER TODAY, AND THEY COULD HAVE LOTS OF LIGHTNING, SOME GUSTY WINDS, AND HEAVY RAIN TOO. SO JUST JUST REMEMBER THAT. WE'RE DRY THIS MORNING WITH LOTS OF CLOUDS OVERHEAD. MAYBE SOME SUNSHINE AROUND LUNCHTIME, BUT THEN BY 1 OR 2:00 THE STORMS START TO POP UP. AND AND MAYBE THEY'RE NOT ALL THAT STRONG AT FIRST, BUT THEN BY LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING, THEY CONTINUE TO BUBBLE UP AND STRENGTHEN EVEN MOREE ACROSS THE AREA. A COUPLE OF THEM, MAYBE BRIEFLY REACHING SEVERE LIMITS. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING POSSIBLE LATER THIS AFTERNOON OR EVENING. THIS IS WHAT THE RADAR MIGHT LOOK LIKE AT 630. REMEMBER DASH GAME HERE IN WINSTON-SALEM? THERE WILL BE SOME STORMS AROUND. HOPEFULLY THE STADIUM STAYS DRY AND LIGHTNING IS NOT AN ISSUE. BUT ONCE THE STORMS MOVE OUT BY 10 OR 11:00 TONIGHT, WE COULD HAVE A COUPLE LINGERING SHOWERS OVERNIGHT AND INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING TOO, BEFORE OUR RAIN CHANCES START TO DECREASE. SO A PRETTY BUSY DAY. RADAR WILL BE ACTIVE LATER ON, BUT RIGHT NOW IT'S A IT'S A FAIRLY QUIET AND PRETTY MORNING OUT THERE. THAT'S OUR WINSTON-SALEM CAMERA. TEMPERATURES ARE NEAR 70 FOR THE PIEDMONT IN THE FOOTHILLS. WE'VE GOT SOME 60S AND MOUNTAINS AS WELL IN THE LOW TO MID 60S, WATCHING OUT FOR SOME PATCHY FOG TO MAYBE DEVELOP THIS MORNING LIKE REIDSVILLE LEXINGTON WITH REDUCED VISIBILITY, ESPECIALLY NORTH WILKESBORO AND UP TO GALAX, VIRGINIA JUST BECAUSE OF THE RAIN AND STORMS THAT MOVED THROUGH LAST NIGHT. THAT'S WHEN THIS PATCHY FOG LIKES TO DEVELOP. SO IF YOU'RE HITTING THE ROADS EARLY THIS MORNING, KEEP THAT IN MIND. BUT FOR MOST OF US, IT'S NOT UNTIL LATER TODAY WHEN THE WEATHER COULD BE IMPACTFUL. MID 80S FOR HIGHS THIS AFTERNOON BECAUSE OF THE EXTRA CLOUDS OVERHEAD AND STORMS IN THE AREA. ABOUT A 50 OR 60% CHANCE, I WOULD SAY FROM 1 OR 2:00 ALL THE WAY TILL 9 OR 10:00 BEFORE THINGS START TO CLEAR OUT OVERNIGHT AND ACTIVITY DECREASES. A VERY SIMILAR FORECAST FOR THE FOOTHILLS TODAY, MID 80S FOR HIGHS. WITH THAT CHANCE OF STORMS. UPPER 70S FOR THE MOUNTAINS WITH A GOOD CHANCE OF STORMS AS WELL. LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. NOW ON MONDAY. TOMORROW FOR LABOR DAY OUR RAIN CHANCE DECREASES. I CAN'T RULE OUT AN ISOLATED POP UP STORM, BUT MOST OF US SHOULD BE DRY TOMORROW. AND THEN ONCE THE COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH SOME COOLER AIR ARRIVES FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER. CHECK THAT OUT BELOW. NORMAL TEMPERATURES EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF THE EASTERN U.S. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WE'RE IN THE 80S TODAY AND TOMORROW, BUT THEN THE COOLER AIR SETTLES IN. WE SHOULD BE WAKING UP TO MORNINGS IN THE UPPER 50S, LOW 60S, AND THEN AFTERNOONS IN THE MID AND UPPER 70S FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. SO SOME GOOD NEWS THERE. REALLY COMFORTABLE WEATHER ON THE WAY. OF COURSE, THIS IS THE BUSIEST TIME FOR HURRICANE SEASON. WE'RE TRACKING THREE SEPARATE BROAD AREAS THAT COULD DEVELOP IN THE TROPICS LATER ON THIS WEEK. THIS MIDDLE DISTURBANCE JUST EAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES IS THE ONE WE MIGHT WANT TO WATCH A LITTLE BIT CLOSER. IT HAS A SLIGHTLY BETTER CHANCE OF DEVELOPING, BUT ANY DEVELOPMENT WITH THIS SYSTEM WOULD BE SLOW. ABOUT A 40% CHANCE IT WILL GRADUALLY MOVE THROUGH THE CARIBBEAN AS WE GO THROUGH THE WEEK. THERE'S STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY, BUT WE WILL WANT TO KEEP AN EYE ON THAT JUST TO SEE HOW IT PROGRESSES. HERE'S A TIMELINE FOR THE REST OF YOUR HOLIDAY WEEKEND. FAIRLY QUIET MORNING AND THEN A RISK FOR SOME STRONG STORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A LOWER STORM CHANCE FOR LABOR DAY, BUT AFTER LABOR DAY, THE NICE, COMFORTABLE AIR MOVES IN. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE MID AND UPPER 70S FEELING MORE LIKE FALL FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK FROM DOBSON TO DANBURY. WXII 12 NEWS HAS YOU COVERED. KEEP UP WITH YOUR LOCAL WEATHER TEAM ACROSS THE TRIAD.
