INTRO [Music] what's going on F band critics I'm Stephen and today right now we're going to look at some field shows from the 2024 National Battle of the Bands today we're looking at Miles College Tennessee State and Jackson State the footage we're going to see in here is courtesy of killer care Productions there's a link down in the description below as well as in the cars of the be sure to go then we're going to go to the next band after we watch all three of the Bands I'll have a review portion at the end and I will show you in depth how I got the scores that I came up with this is all done it yet I'm going to go back and look there's some other video clips out there so I can see the dancers better but all in all great sound love the sound always love the sound the van I saw a few things uh again at the end of this video I will talk about some things in the review portion saw a few things but for the most part man it's always a joy seeing your home team great job love it a lot whole damn show they yeah they probably was drilling during The Ballad and we just couldn't even tell get it drum Maj although you heard uniform bad several times we cannot reiterate enough go vote go on this one great job dep Richard Myers thank you and good evening thank you and good evening great job Sonic Boom okay so here are the scores for Jackson State boom they're popping up right now again I'm going to go back and look at all these again and kind of take my time look at it because there's some other Clips out there where I think I can see things better like you know the especially for the dancers I see the whole thing and all that good stuff but shout out to Kev killing it as usual so there it is and um so we're going to go to the review portion now and I will go into depth on how the performances from the national battle bands this year Miles College Tennessee State and Jackson State let's get right into these scores let's start with Miles College here it is for musical performance that's a 20 out of 20 the sound of the band was fantastic the arrangements were impressive and it truly showcase the band's musicality visual performance 16 out of 20 individual technique one issue stick out for me right at the beginning of the drill at the top of that Arrow formation that Squad at the very Point refer to the original video down in the description time code 3 minutes 6 seconds it appears that that Squad was about 5 yard too far ahead and it led to other issues with alignments when it comes to the other formations and it felt like that was an individual error because it persisted far too long without someone yelling down saying hey you all out of line or having a signal or something saying hey get in line so as soon as you find out you're out of line don't just just stand there try to get back in line as quickly as possible cuz it was it was noticeable especially when the band got into those columns and because of that individual error it threw off the entire ensemble technique as well by just making the formations out of alignment so there's that conductor and drum Majors 20 out of 20 the drum Majors look sharp and performed in sync well done percussion 20 out of 20 don't have no issues there everything was on Tempo and it felt like you all play underneath the band wasn't too loud so keep it up dancers in Color Guard it's a 19 out2 after watching all the performances multiple times the dancers on this team was not as synchronized as others that I saw so that was it you all can dance great routine look good but it wasn't as together as another dance team that I saw all right Tennessee State Aris credit bands musical performance 20 out of 20 a fantastic full sound as always the Aris credit bands aob never disappoints keep up that great work and I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing you all in October when you come down to Atlanta so be ready visual performance 18 out of 20 individual technique after re-watching the videos all the ones that you all posted from the show and all around the internet I got a chance to see the show from a few different angles and for individual technique a lot of you brass players need to hold your bells up too many Bells were aimed at the ground perhaps spending some extra time at practice marching up and down the field to all the things you are for a few hours might Rectify that situation but brass players when you are in motion get those bells up when you stand still looks okay but in motion get those bells to the sky come on Ensemble technique one specific issue that I saw was a wavy line in the TSU script at the end of the show right where the T meets the S the part that bothered me the most was that it appeared to be trombone players let's fix that right away also trombone players avoid turning your heads all the way when you're guiding the lines especially when you're playing and you should be facing forward I'm referring to someone specifically I'm not going to call you out exactly but I definitely could but you are a trone player who wears glasses and you had your head turned all the way to the left when everyone else was playing use your peripheral vision to keep the line straight and if everyone marches 8 to 5 we shouldn't have this issue correct yes I am condu and drum Majors 20 out of 20 fantastic job Fantastic Four the best I've seen in a while keep it up percussion 20 out of 20 there were no issues here and color Garden dancers 20 out of 20 I don't know where the flags are sometimes TSU has Flags sometimes they don't I'm not sure what's going on there but I was looking forward to seeing some Flags but they are gone perhaps they'll show back up in the middle of the Season what is going on with all that nevertheless the dancers were definitely the best looking group out of these three that we saw today again I'm going to say it rewatching it from different angles so I was able to see all the dancers together from each group my goodness sophisticated ladies I am extremely impressed and you all are not playing my goodness it was all together that was the biggest thing it's not what you do it's how you do it and Tennessee State sophisticated ladies dance team was the most together and I loved it so keep it up and you all even danced on the ballot great job Jackson State Sonic Boom in the South this ought to be easy musical performance 20 out of 20 superb sound trumpets my gosh visual performance 20 out of 20 you all absolutely drilled that field down straight lines clean marching no dropped hats no dropped drums no dropped anything Superior job with that drill conductor and drum agors 2020 the J5 always delivers excellent work as usual percussion 20 out of 20 great job with that and last but not least the color guard SL dancers and in this case just the dancers you all did a great job Jets You Can Dance we all know this the routine was off the chain however comparing the teams to each other you all were not as clean as Tennessee State when it came to just how together you were I know the J I know that the Jets have a bigger Squad too which allows a little bit more space for people to not look as together nevertheless you all's routine you all can dance we know that you was killing it but I still believe that Tennessee State spk ladies was the best looking overall when it came to just overall togetherness so there's that that's it for this review video here's a chart for all of you to compare the score side by [Music] side remember these are just my subjective opinions if you take this too personally I either have two words or three words for you the two words are grow up and the three words are coming from Dwayne Johnson The Rock himself shut up oh my God so do you agree with the
