Dana White Defends Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic, AGAIN…

oh my goodness you guys I had to see Dana defend the booking of Jones Stipe and I get how this sport goes I I do get that the landscape changes fast and I would never begrudge you the fan I think you have the right some guys call it disrespectful if a fan booze some guys if you flip them off will punch you on their way to fighting Charles ol of a like I mean there's different guys but I have always been an advocate that if you buy the ticket you get to show the emotion whether that's positive whether that's the cheer or the boo if you bought the ticket that choice is up to you and my hypocrisy on that does have some bounds but I am so confus this is really unfair what you're doing to Jon Jones this is really unfair what you're doing to Stipe it's unfair that Dana White had to answer this question so let me take your short-term memories down memory lane because there was once called a year of 2023 and there was once in that year called a month of March went out of nowhere we get informed simultaneously that our heavyweight champion who had been in knee surgery and contract dispute is gone and that the vacated title will be contested between sural gone and Jon Jones at T-Mobile at which point sural called it a night in the locker room johon walked to the ring to make it official left there with the belt became the heavyweight champion of the world without ever punching or being punched by a heavyweight like that's just what happened okay good enough right so John quite literally turns to you says what do you want to see me do and that is very in line with Jon style I will just tell you when I had my fight with Jon Jones I did not get to the fight against Jon Jones until John had gone to you the public and said what do you think I should should should I go fight this guy like that's just part of John's recipe he's part of his process it's a consistent heart and John listens John has made the mistake of believing that the people on social media are his friends now that's not a knock to John it's a reminder to you that you answered him when he asked and you said Stipe so John agreed to take on Stipe who by the way was a little harder match than John wanted I mean not for nothing John was honest about that he slid up the heavy waight and he knew it could be Francis right out of the gate but if I could have my DRS I have been out of here for a moment of time and JN started talking about potentially contenders match that was actually John John never said when I come up I will go right into a world title fight Dana White did John actually said I might do a contenders match and that was just because John always had questions and he always had a respect for the weight for the actual size the this new class was going to demonstrate either way he agrees right away now that he's got the belt to go right in against the best thing the division has to offer which is stie miic which many of you call the greatest heavyweight of all time there's a reason you call Stipe that it's not just because you you think he's a really great heavyweight that he did something I want to say was he had the most title defenses which by the way was like two possibly it was three but there's a reason quantifiably that many people say Stipe is the best ever so JN agrees to fight him and they got common opponents Daniel Cormier for example and it's a hard fight and John wants it bad and Stipe wants it bad to the point that Stipe even put out artwork claiming to have been given to him by the UFC in a main event opposite Jon Jones on International fight weekend now this is just in March right Jones beats surreal in March by April Stipe is putting out artwork that he's claiming he got from the UFC announcing him against Jones for international fight weekend and Jon Jones is retweeting it letting the world know they've got an agreement Dana's got to step in and say no we don't I did not send them that artwork but I do see the storm that is brewing here you got it he wants it he wants it you want it Dana signed off and he even upped the stakes to Madison Square Garden now along that Journey Jon Jones suffers the first injury of his career I believe this is the first and only fight that Jon has ever had to reschedule from it being on his side of it so what do you do Dana White at that time and it was a different landscape that was the fight you guys were after you had not sold yourselves on sergy pavet yet you had not sold yourselves on Tom Aspen yet the idea of Alex perara moving up had never been spoken so what do you do that fight that you made very clear you wanted that was the fight Dana postpones it and it wasn't easy to do Dana had to face a back backlash of PR saying why do you have a healthy Stipe miet in your front row when you've openly had a backup fighter known as sergy pavage we've all known this could happen it turns out it did happen why are they not fighting and Dana had to answer for this and for you guys to get you the fight you said you wanted he did answer for it and Sergey pavage as good as he was was just young and not very well known Stipe is believed and said to be the greatest heavyweight of all time Dana said it would be rude I'm not making that call I'm not going to disrespect Stipe by taking it from an Undisputed shot to an intrum shot I'm not even going to make that offer to him and people stood back and said well you know that does change things actually that is actually a demotion now that you say it boss that makes really good sense onward we went in the in in the terrified Ivan Drogo looking pavich that so many people said jnon was scared of John want a fight ends up going down in the first round and you switch that energy over to Tom aspal and it's one of these really weird spots where Dana actually had to answer this and and he says so Jon Jones gets hurt and you want me to take an opportunity from Stipe Stipe did everything he said he would do he did everything I asked him to do in fact in November of last year he even showed up to Madison Square Garden and has got it as close to that cage as he could possibly get he did everything he said he would do and everything I asked him he would do why how am I going to pull the rug out on this guy and there would be no reason to there would be no precedent to there is nothing different now about JN and Stipe than there was a year ago when they wanted to fight on International fight weekend when in April of last year right after John became heavyweight champion never hitting and never being hit by a heavyweight same as is drawing into Madison Square Garden where this was a very coveted fight and it had to replace not just once but with two title fights and attempt to make up for it it's the same fight with the same guys they haven't done anything different Ste has not slowed down stee has not lost he hasn't done anything in front of you that's any different and I mean I will just tell you like like in this sport you're not wrong fans going to do what fans want I understand it but I don't know if I've ever seen anything quite to this degree in an attempt to get Aspen in there with JN in that attempt instead of just saying hey you know what I'd really like to see Aspen against John as a matter of fact one's got an inum belt and one has an Undisputed belt I think precent says these guys have to fight instead of doing that it turned nasty and it turned nasty against DPE that's the part that's incorrect as soon as dee falls on his face as soon as he slips on a banana pel go ahead and go after him that's fair game that's this that hasn't happened Ste has not done that Ste has not done anything like that as a matter of fact he got a little bit longer to train and this is a consumate professional he would have used that time very wisely Stipe is in a better spot now than he was the first time those are the facts
