Spencer Rattler SLASHES the Titans! + Should he start over DEREK CARR?

New Orleans Saints vs Tennessee Titans let's go New Orleans Saints fans I need your help do you believe Day One spencer Rattler should start over Derek Carr or Spencer Rattler is he even the qb2 comment below because man I got a shocking sta from Pro Football Focus from this game that's going to blow your mind okay but like we always do we're going to break it down from so many different angles starting off here and by the way we've done a Spencer Rattler preseason film study on every single preseason game they will all be linked down below so you get a play action fake look at the play action fake getting these linebackers to bite like fish on a bait and now Rattler's got to throw a good ball on the in Breer there's a really solid route right here uh by bub means and this isn't the best throw it is a little bit behind him throw it on his chest he can run with it but I also understand throwing it slightly behind him to protect it from that backer but good throw to get things started for a first down so so this was a little bit earlier in the drive got a play action as a play action got a pre-ap motion here once again it is uh a little something for a lot of these rookie quarterbacks to get used to playing under Center play action fake but look at how far these linebackers and everyone bites on the play action fake it gives you so much more space to throw this in Breer right here and Rattler throws a really really good ball obviously in theory you would like this to hit him in the chest so he can keep running but you also want to avoid that backer right there as well and you pick up a first down so I understand it's a lot of would have could have should have but the first thing is I love the Saints using more pre- snap motion and also the Saints uh were one of the lowest play action rate teams last year I know this wasn't play action but I love that I'm seeing this um from the Saints in this preseason so pump fake from Rattler here he's got a really good pocket to throw into and if this is Joan Johnson he's catching this football I know it's behind the tight end right here uh but you still got to catch it all right so we get to the very next play and I'll be real with you on this third and 10 I put this on Rattler okay I understand you want to get all the yards on this third and 10 but you also have to understand that if you gain some yards it makes it a more manageable uh fueld goal or go for it situation okay so obviously you don't want to take a sack and and just completely knock yourself out of potential bomb field goal range but at the same time um let's actually bring it back here they do bring pressure okay in the extended Red Zone teams love to bring pressure I've explained why a gazillion times but they do uh without pre-amp you know any indication they actually do bring uh a lot of pressure not one but two linebackers so if that's the case then this is where you probably want to go with the football okay but because it was tough seeing those blitzers it's okay that he decides to work backside uh to his big Target uh equinus St Brown always butcher that so Spencer feels pressure here decides to bail out and give himself a better angle to throw this football to St Brown and he does eventually get it there so yeah I would have preferred him throw the shallow cross it's a very difficult throw to get there but I also don't mind him going here either uh versus Man coverage and it makes it a manageable for down all Scramble right first and 10 I love this decision by the Saints being aggressive on first down this is a heavy box in the eye formation so let's play action fake and see if we can get a deep shot okay and once again it is cut off the tight end is absolutely swallowed hole and it looks like he's trying to run this way Against The Leverage of this DB so that's just not going to be open this shallow Cross isn't open and I'm guessing the Deep shot is also not open either but he gets good protection that's a good rep by pinning to just wash this guy up field and Rattler two hands on the football obviously no turnovers like uh the S Francisco game no fumble recoveries and now he is just going to take off and run with this this is really really really good quarterbacking right here and just gain as many yards as you possibly can little pump fake don't want to take a hit just get out of bounds and he does just that and he does end up taking uh a pretty decent shot so BB means has had some hype uh this off season the rookie out of pit okay so it's pressed man on both of these receivers with deep safety help over the top and memes actually starts this route off really well but before we get back to there you see that this pocket is still good Rattler is playing quickly so it doesn't really matter let's take a look at this route from bub means this is actually really really good stuff press man right in his face little whoop so he has him beat on the end Breer Rattler throws a really good ball and well it hits him right in the chest and he drops it and he still takes a tough shot on his knees oh this is where you fake getting hurt uh because you know people will excuse the drop a little bit more more huh huh huh Spencer Rattler says look I don't Touchdown! care there was a drop because when The Pimps are in the crib M You Drop It Like It's Hot to equinus St Brown for a touchdown baby first off let's show some love to the protection okay this isn't the absolute cleanest rep by pinning but he did play a lot better you'll see the PFF stats here in just a second gets this guy to the ground it was a little leany of a rep and that could get you in trouble but protection is really good it's also show some love to St Brown on this route okay he got to get over the top of it and he's at a leverage disadvantage as well and he just chops that arm down and does a really good job of getting this DB off balance Rattler throws with a lot of anticipation though trusting Brown to get into this spot because once again if we bring it all the way back there is a safety right here okay so this ball has to be thrown early because NFL safeties can get over the top but look at this ball location from Spencer Rattler we've been talking about this on the channel on a gold ball you want to throw this ball at an angle you want the receiver to actually be going at a 45 instead of just a straight vertical cuz that gives you a little bit more room against that safety coming over the top that is a certified dime piece of a throw right there tutty baby kind of a interesting 2-minute drill rep here you don't see that there is a safety way deep on this hash I mean that is what 20 yard of depth right there and you get a motion right here and you have a little bit of a smash concept to the bottom right here and then with that safety being this far deep let's see could Rattler have fit this ball in right here uh no with that safety you know going that far back that's smart to not throw it so if that's the case if you're reading Smash in that corner Corner Bales out you could just take this okay but he decides to work all the way backside with the running back on the angle route well the DB is so far inside of him pause that's just such a bad pause what was you trying to say uh but you know you don't want to throw that either he does eventually get back right here and he does eventually throw it right there and you get a somewhat decent gain on first down okay first and 10 still got plenty of time you still have two timeouts left and Rattler has done a really really really good job of understanding this in the two-minute drill not everything needs to be deep your running back is often times your bestest best friend on the two-minute drill cuz they don't really account for it and he gets out of bounds here all 4th Quarter right so let's move ahead here uh another little high low concept this play was just dead unless this guy got open over here I really don't know if there was anything at all open okay tight end checkdown isn't open running back falls on his own and this guy's covered and the Deep Corner was just eaten alive by this DB okay maybe Rattler was late on this I don't know but there was just nothing nothing nothing open this isn't a rattler play but if you are a Saints fan you're going to see a lot of outside zone right coming in uh kubak coming over from the 49ers which is just outside handoffs and I want you to see how horizontal the steps are from these linemen here okay you know normally when you think of offensive linemen you think piling defensive linemen backwards but this step is almost just perpendicular to that of the 10 yard line here and that is very interesting this Zone blocking scheme this actually isn't that bad from the end other than not keeping his outside shoulder free and actually making this play um but saints were still able to get to the edge here and score on this really good blocking down the field here as well so you are going to see a lot of this next year with the Saints all right third and two Saints are an empty with the tight end here uh staying in block and you know there would it looks like this is just a straight go route from at Perry the safety is just so far back there's just nothing you could really do about that um so Rattler sees this space on this third and two and says f it I'm just going to take it myself two hands through the line of scrimmage and he picks up this first down good job on him not sliding because he would have been short of the line of game just fall down pick up the first so Rattler has played quick throughout this off season and this is something he's done a really good job of if this corner is locked in on the receiver just hit the simple you know out to the upfield shoulder and let's see if we can make some plays off of this that's a good job by 14 just getting up field and picking up the AT Perry Underthrow? first down all right so we get to here and I saw some say well if this was Derek Carr we would be complaining about an underthrow here and the answer to that is you're probably right huh so play action very very deep drop Rattler starts off looking left and does decide to throw right and yes this is indeed an underthrow right there was a guy that eventually did get in his face but you would like to see Rattler lead at Perry here cuz he eventually after that jam burned 14 really badly and if it's just a slightly better throw it's a walk-in touchdown all right you'll see the jam here this is a good job by at Perry just throwing him off of them because you're just a superior athlete and just hit the gas okay uh that's just actually a really good job by Perry it's a lot of nuance looking towards the sideline potentially as if this is an out all right and that keeps his DB guessing and it's not an out okay he then gets vertical and the DB looks back at the QB thinking that it's still an out and it's not okay he looked he was like whoa where'd he go where'd you go Barry and there you go it's a good Hustle by 40 not giving up on it but that was a even nastier route by at Perry is he going to be the clear number Final Stats three so the Saints do eventually score now we get back to the question that we have all asked from the get-go who is going to be the qb2 well I think an even more interesting question Derek Carr or Spencer Rattler? is who is going to be the qb1 right I saw Ross Jackson and uh you know talk about this who's a qb2 um you know I I I do think Derek Carr should still start as I've said and this is pre Rattler joining my favorite team when we did an all 22 breakdown versus Georgia I liked Rattler I thought he was a third or fourth round pick QB but the fact that you got him in the fifth and there was such a large gap in between quarterbacks being selected is an absolute steal so this is a very very good situation for the Saints with Rattler when it comes to draft Capital but a weird situation overall it's pretty clear that Jay Kaner is not terrible he's also not a starter we don't know if Rattler is a starter we also know that Derek Carr isn't really that great but I think at this point you can also say Derek Carr in week one gives your team the best sh shot to win so I I'm still for Derek Carr starting even though I have been unfreaking believably critical of him so I do think Rattler deserves the qb2 I I I do uh but it's closer than a lot of people do think so comment below do you believe Rattler should be the starter day one it is
