Doug Plays NYT Connections 09/14 (New York Times Puzzle Game)

wello everyone it's Saturday September the 14th 2024 I'm Doug it is time once again to play connections ah let's see what we got all right today we have lion switch retro Burger vintage sub prom slider super grape button California region knob Pro and Winery okay um H there's a few I I feel like there's probably some red herrings scattered around here um a burger a sub a slider these are types of sandwiches um is there a for type of Sandwich here I don't feel like there is so yeah no I don't think that there is a fourth here that it's jumping out at me unless I'm missing something ah I don't I dislike that I strongly dislike that when I see these all right um a button a knob a switch and a slider are types of control controls um possibly controls on a soundboard or instrumentation panel uh but uh controls console inputs I said a soundboard that would be a console console inputs I think I was close enough on that maybe it was too specific but I think a a a s I think being too specific doesn't necessarily disqualify me so I'm going to give myself the point on that one um oh I've got the phrase and so we weren't thinking of different sandwiches we have lion we have prom we have Burger uh oh but then what do we do so we have Lion King prom King Burger King but one on earth is the other king H um isn't there a hockey team called the California King no it' be the LA Kings I don't think it's California King unless there's a sports team I'm not think no sports team wouldn't be named after a state though uh oh it couldn't be another red herring could it oh man I feel like these are [Music] Kings H all right I'm going to pass on that but oh man that's again that hurts all right um uh okay uh professional Pro sub no I'm wondering if these are abbreviations here um sub something Pro something possible possible um [Music] H something like that uh grape uh grape could be purple things no I don't think that's it um I keep wanting to think vintage and retro go together but I I can't believe that that actually is the case here because I don't see other stuff um California I don't know maybe more word play um Cal uh I don't think so um oh my goodness I wonder if there's word play with something starts with like so win uh reeg regge win Cal Pro um some crazy word play Cut type situation um like the literal definitions of the any of these words don't really necessarily make any sense although again I I love the prom King Lion King Burger King what would be the other King Lion King prom King is it be super king is that the king one away oh man I have three shots at this vintage King Sub King grape King region King Pro King retro King California King Winery [Music] King man um oh my goodness gracious um like a vintage wine vintage things to do with wine uh a reg region of vintage um vintage wine region of wine grape h a winery thing things to do with wine wine bottle info okay wine bottle info well things to do with wine I think I get the point on that but that's interesting all right two points so far the two easy ones so it's only going to get harder from here um uh all right so again we still have uh prom King Burger King Lion King Super King was ruled out we have three shots um Super King is ruled out so it's sub King retro King Pro King in California King I'm going to go with California king I don't know why but I keep coming back to that are these the Kings King California King all right I'm going to be curious to see if you guys can let me know in the comments what that is uh I got it so I'll take it and now we're here at Blue Super Sub uh Pro and retro R Ro um retrograde uh I feel like these are abbreviations or prefixes they're definitely prefixes super super par subpar Subway substack um Subway substack uh Pro um Pro Audio uh in Retro Retro gamer Pro Gamer sub gamer super gamer I don't think it has to do with retro games uh there's some sort of prefixes I'm going to put myself on the clock on this cuz really don't I feel like I'm lost besides them being prefixes which maybe is a half point I don't know give myself 30 seconds here um they're not sandwiches um they're not Bowlers pro bowler um pro bono um proficient Professor uh proton prove uh I don't know I'm going I'm going to wave the White Flag I I feel like they're prefixes but what on Earth are thesee oh their prefixes I was overthinking this I think they're prefixes but I'm giving up and it was prefixes uh wow sometimes that happens I way overthink I get lost in my own thoughts and uh there you go well folks another day and other connections we somehow finagled our way through this one uh curious to see how you did uh California king I learned a new thing today um hope you all had a good time please consider subscribing to my channel if you haven't done so already how many more times can I entertain you how many more ways can I entertain you uh much appreciate that folks thanks for watching we'll see you tomorrow for some more connections
