[Music] to support our boys in blue as well as the purple and gold today's Kobe Bryant Dodger jersey is a salute to one of the Lakers alltime great who also showed his support for the Dodgers F please turn your attention to Dodger vision for a tribute to Kobe that was dar by the legendary voice of the Dodgers Vin Scully this video was originally shown here in Dodgers Stadium on Kobe's birthday 23rd of August 2020 today's date August 23rd is a very significant date in Los Angeles history not for something that took place here but for the birth of a Child in the City of Philadelphia on this date in 1978 his name was Kobe Bean briyan or he may have been born in the city of brother R but he would grow to love the City of Angels and from the moment that he made his purple and gold Lakers debut in 1996 the city of angels has loved him back how good is this kid in the nearly 24 years since we met him Kobe demonstrated that he was a man of many talents he was a champion the mentor a creative Force an advocate Kobe was also a husband and the father of four wonderful girls the warrior that we knew as the black mama was a sweetheart to his wife Vanessa and a proud girl dad to Natalia Bianca K and his daughter known as the mama Giana Gigi was worthy of the dad's nickname she shared his passion for basketball and so much more he in turn wanted her to have every opportunity to succeed and he believed that the women's game deserved as much respect and support as the men receed on January 26th we lost more than we'll ever know the tragic loss of Kobe giigi six family friends and their pilot took away from us the promising Futures that each had within them so today we celebrate their lives and pledge to do our best for this city that Kobe loved so much we know that Kobe's impact on the world was only just getting started and it's our responsibility to further his work by supporting our community and making sure that girls have the same opportunity to take part in the sports that they love there are a lot of Moments in Sports where the outside world views them and has a reaction to it an inspirational reaction to it whereas us as the athletes simply see what the moment is right in front of us that's the beauty of sports when you can have moments like that that become bigger than the moment itself and Inspire other people that's what makes Sports great [Applause] fans today we're very honored to have with us members of the Bryant family please welcome Kobe's wife Vanessa and their daughters Natalia Bianca and Capri [Music] founded through the loving memory of Kobe and GI GG Bryant the Mamba and Mamba CA Sports Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive impact for underserved athletes and boys and girls in sports Dodgers commend the Brian family for their tremendous work supporting youth Athletics for all and preserving the legacies of Kobe and Gigi this time Dodgers president Stan C and mookie bets would like to present this check of $100,000 to the bambba and basa Foundation thank you for all your dedication keep up the great word now fans it's time for a very special ceremonial first pitch in honor of Kobe Bryant Jersey dat here at DOD Stadium Kobe's daughter Bianca will be doing the honors all right Bianca the mount is yours and mukie Bets will be doing the catching [Music] great BS Bianca [Music] back [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] it's now time for the words recited before each and every game here at the haer stadium in honor of Kobe Bryant Jersey day dodg your fans please welcome Capri Bryant take it away CI it's time for J baseball oh
