Rick it seems like throughout Camp we've had more questions about the offense after a couple of scrimmages Jeff braam really not thrilled with how they looked against the defense they've lost Colin Lacy now a guy I think was going to be a big part of that offense uh he's out for a while with a broken collar bone what do you think we can expect to see from the offense coming out Saturday uh Brian Brown was pretty optimistic I thought when he talked on Monday about the team uh really very confident in Tyler shuck as a quarterback I got more of a sense that they're going to be able to throw the ball more to the tight ends they're going to try and use a number of them uh and they feel like the running backs will be a strength in terms of receiver a little bit of a mystery but the good thing is you're playing an Austin P team uh which only has two starters back from last season has a new coach sort of a blank slate you should be able to find out what you have we can get the football down the field um we got some receivers that can that can stretch the field as well so I think that's paired up pretty well uh we got to see it on game day uh you know the running back room so we we lose two guys that had a lot of production we're we're excited about the talent that we have in there but uh again they have to show up on game day and and uh go do it in live action and it certainly sounds like the defense uh is going to be a strength for this Louisville team right off the bat yeah Jeff brah has been consistent in that message really from the beginning of Camp Tom uh he's said not only they strong in the first unit they're strong in the second unit and even had some good third unit guys he hasn't wavered from that one time we talked about offensive identity with this team last year relied heavily on that run game for a good chunk of the year do you feel like it'll be more of a mix this year probably so I mean they've they've said on numerous occasions they want to have more chunk plays so I expect to see uh more deep passes attempted uh but also you've got a a different running back group a couple of Veteran guys are back but they didn't play as much as they had last year when they had with with gendo and Jordan uh so I think we're this will be a great game for feeling out what you have everybody gets an opportunity to show what they can do and then you you play Jacksonville State the next week a little bit tougher competition and then build up to the off week and then the game with Georgia Tech which now becomes more difficult after what they did to Florida State yeah an impressive win for them in the opener against FSU we'll be here to cover it Saturday it's uvl and Austin P kicking off the new season at noon here at lnn stadium for Rick bosich I'm Tom Lane we're with the cards for WDRB Sports
