Intro [Music] welcome to the phnx Wildcat show coming to you live from Studio K presented by Circle K had to any Circle K Arizona location where you can get any size polar Popp or froster for just 79 cents now through September 3rd hello Saul Bookman how are you doing today my friend how's it going Mike Luke how are you doing not too bad yes we got the bossa Bookman in here we have the prodigious Kevin Thomas behind the scenes as well I was thinking about it we're trying to get people you know obviously know a little bit about Kevin off top of my head Kevin's from St Louis um the uh is that the Gateway City yes it is okay you can find me you can find me where in L um so just I don't want to get that into that but also soul I was thinking off the top of my head three players from St Louis that have played at the U OFA in the last 20 years can you name them my friend can you name them no absolutely not I can't yeah you oh yeah you can yes you can yes you can football or basketball football oh not football basketball basketball damn no I can't there's no way guy name Caleb love from St Louis um Gateway Christian high or no no no uh yeah Gateway Christian if I'm not mistaken or Gateway Brothers something like that or Christian brothers Christian Brothers College yeah there you go then Courtney Ry also from St Louis do do you know this one uh uh Mr Kevin Thomas do you know what high school oh yeah Webster Groves uh he had a center his high school season called cardier Gordon I don't know what ever happened to him but uh that guy was a beast seven feet tall we had my high school had a game where we played against them I wasn't playing because I don't I didn't play basketball but uh I was there and um Courtney Remy had an alley from from like a sideline out of bounds uh cardier caught it dunked on like three guys I don't it was cardier Martin cardier Gordon Ed up at uh he did up Grambling State Grambling look at that one Saul a blast from the past you'll remember this Jessie Perry Oh I like Jesse Perry he was a hard worker y Kevin do you know who Jesse Perry is I can't say that I do he's a little before your time little bit little bit slightly how far like the beginning of the Shawn Miller area era okay yeah look him up though he was a good player here we have got a lot to get to this show we're going to talk about T-Mac getting some High Praise he is very very good obviously we are going to talk about ESPN's top 100 list I'm going to make the the case that Arizona's got five possible All-American candidates we are going to uh we're going to talk about all that but Saul I think that I can gen listen I know all these five aren't going to get on the All-American list I get all of it but I think I can make the case that Arizona has five All-American legitimate All-American candidates what say you before we get into the nitty nitty-gritty uh if we're being honest with ourselves if we're being honest with ourselves I would say more like four How many All-American candidates do the Wildcats have this season? I would say four I don't I I wouldn't say five all right now I'm going to name the names tell me if you agree or if you disagree and by all Americans you could say first second or third team so I got a little bit of leeway uh T-Mac are you gonna will you say T-Mac is an All-American candidate I will I will say he's a first teamer okay Noah ffid I would say Noah ffid is borderline I would give him third team or honorable mention okay but still a candidate still a candidate okay now Diario Davis uh I would say he's second third team okay then Jonah saona same thing second or third Team all right the Jacob Manu Jacob Manu why won't you do it why won you do it I you know I just I think the caliber of of linebacker that he's going up against in in the country is just I that's that's that's a that's a far that's a far leap in my opinion like I just think that there's there are some dudes out there um there's just a lot of them that are that that play the the middle linebacker position at a high level but Jacob is really really good don't get me wrong like he could be all conference easily um and there is a scenario where if he balls out right he could find himself on an All-American list I just don't think he's there right now now keep in mind last year Pack 12 was loaded and he was first team All Conference at linebacker I'm going to make the cas over 120 six sacks and so again what from a statistical perspective would you need for him to be in that All-American discussion because again we are we are driven we are a statistics driven Society yeah impact I think if he has the same kind of stats but the impact is just significant especially in national televised games a million percent if you're playing against Kansas State you're playing against you know the bigger dogs if you get to the Big 12 championship and you end up facing like an Oklahoma State how do you hold up against olly Gordon how do you hold up against some of those Big Time teams uh you know when you face Utah how are how are you holding up in those games and if he can do that and he can show out then a million percent he's going to get a lot of the attention and and we all know that that a lot of this is also just the publicity of it right there's no there's no reason no reason at all why Travis Hunter and I listen he's a great player don't get me wrong but he was also on one of the worst teams in the Pack 12 last year still gets a lot of love he also got torched by T-Mac still gets gets a lot of love they say his primary position is defensive back still gets a lot of love even though he got torched by T-Mac like right miss that now the you make a great point the thing with Jacob Manu and all these guys is you're going to have games very early on in the season where you're going to be able to make that point I mean you're going to be on nationally televised games at Kansas State there is a rumor going around that that game's nationally televised since we're going to be there but I don't know if that's the case or not but either way Kansas State Utah that's going to be a very big those are going to be big games and again he's that's going to be where he's going to be able to make his Mark so uh I disagree with you Saul we will see how this one plays out though my friend but for sure I mean allamerican is a big jump right like first team All Conference in the Pack 12 um you know like that's that's great that there's nothing nothing wrong with that whatsoever but you're also going against teams you know you look at the big dogs in the SEC and the Big 10 you got to go up against those teams and and what they have to offer at the linebacker position and we know like some of these schools just pump out linebackers like their like a machine it's crazy now think about it this way we are literally having a debate I'm actually was hoping you would disagree with me we literally having a debate about whether Arizona has four or five All-American caliber players on its team on a St roster of 22 people the fact that we are even talking about this shows how far I mean Saul we're only three years removed from a middle of what a 18 game losing streak whatever the case may be so again when we're talking about 25% of the starting lineup almost being an an All-American that's good stuff here's the Bold prediction for you what do you got uh Saul's big JCM prediction jakori crosy Merit will would will finish higher we finish higher in the conference in terms of votes for like all Big 12 or even All-American than everybody except olly Gordon wow wow okay I like it keep in mind we got a guy at Texas Tech had 1600 yards last I know Taj Taj Taj is really good Taj Brooks is really good I like that I like that now I'm Al I'll go a step further I think jakori croski merits also going to be I think it's going to Merit a very a fairly good draft pick as well I see there that is here all season and it's not going anywhere we need to be very clear about that that is not going anywhere okay now speaking of players that we will not disagree with well let's talk about uh oh Tyler Loop by the way bear down yeah Tyler Loop you left off Tyler Loop like he's definitely All-American candidate six not five six not five and Steve loop I do apologize I uh I do apologize to that Steve Loop a fan of the show um all right now let's talk a little bit of T-Mac and Dino Babers taroa McMillan because you mentioned before that uh sorry uh Travis Hunter you had a hard time with him and I don't care about any of the Colorado putes that keep dming me saying oh well they were in zone coverage half the time or whatever that ain't my fault man not on that goal line not on that goal line they weren't that that do mean anything to me we got lost at at the end of the day if you are the best DB it's right there you can't see it you can just see your hand there it is you got Moss son you got mos Let's go yeah it is it is what it is at the end of the day it's this if you're the best DB in the com or country and you want to be called the best player in the country and you're going against the best wide receiver in the conference and you only match up with him 20% of the time that ain't on me man that's it is what it is what it is bro because T-Mac still finished with 100 yards still had that nasty touchdown this is a dude that we're going to get into this in a second this is a different level of player so again you can't say that's like the guy saying that you know I could beat anybody one-on-one but I refuse to play them one-on-one well don't know what to really tell you at that point yeah listen I I think tmac is obviously one of the best wide receivers in the country top three if you want to make an argument he could even be the top one and I would say that he is um but you don't have to take our word for it right Mike we don't have to take our word for it why don't we hear from Dino babers who's been around the block a little bit going back to what you were talking about where you don't really know about them until you see them with that even though he's been in a limited fashion what what's your impressions of tmac I got like over 40 NFL wide receivers in the league over 40 guys that became millionaires that I've coached in 36 years I'm not sure I've met anybody like him I'm not sure I've seen seen the only person I've seen with catch radius like that is Larry Fitzgerald and I I'm not comparing him to Larry because he played 17 years I'm just telling you he's not he's not normal he may be better than everybody I've ever coached we'll see because I've I've coached some really really good ones they played really really well in the pros but from a college level he may be better than all them I listen it was the pause for me yeah yeah like when he was just like he just kind of was thinking and just was you could tell he was reflecting and kind of going through that Rolodex of all the players that he's ever you know watched and coached and and seen play and that's high praise that's that's ridiculously high praise for a coach that hasn't even seen him in person in game action he's just seen him in practice that's remarkable I thought I go back to it Lewis rck who we like on the show does a very good job commentating he commentated a UFA game last season and I can't remember who uh which entity it was but he said the thing that T-Mac that just sticks out for you is you see a lot of these wide receivers where you're like you don't know if they're a gadget wide receiver you don't know what their role is at the next level what kind of player they can be he said with T-Mac I watched film for about two seconds and I said that is a starting NFL wide receiver I don't have to say he needs to be in the right system or anything I can put that man in anywhere and again at the U OFA those those guys don't come around all the time where you say all right well if you run a really fast 40 time then maybe you could sneak into the third round or you know whatever the case may be with T-Mac you know what you see you see what you know and like you said with Dino babers that was high prais just by the pause itself we've we've had guys at the U OFA that could catch had had nice catching radiuses but maybe their hands were just not really that great we've had guys that could leap up and get it we've had guys that are speed uh we've had quick twitch guys we've had we've had a little bit of everything right but we've never had somebody that was such a complete package and such an undeniable like you know athlete to have to face out there on the field like what you're seeing with T-Mac you know every single week every single team is GNA have to prepare to face T-Mac we have not had that caliber of wide receiver ever right ever and and I thought always before T-Mac came I've always been a Dennis North cut guy um Dennis northcut uh you know obviously Dino babers was his OC here and caught for 1400 yards as a senior um at the U OFA went on the first pick in the second round this dude's just different he's just entirely different because again that's also you're talking about someone that's 510 511 you're not talking about someone that is legitimately and people need to understand this too he is legitimately like 65 at least maybe even taller than that it's not one of these things where he's like 62 and seven8 or anything like that he is legitimately 65 I've got a bold Proclamation for you as well Saul Bookman since you're throwing him out left and right ah the combine he's going to run Mike Luke's bold T-Mac NFL combine prediction in the four fours not only that I'm going to say that he's going to probably run about a 44 five and when he measures in at about 6'5 218 220 pounds and he runs a 445 boom sealed done top 10 pick my friend set it right here yeah I I if he's not a top 10 pick I don't know what you're looking at I you know what are we doing here so TX G be a top 10 pick he's just his his abilities and I'm and I love how the chat is kind of throwing out names of of of wide receivers who they really really liked um you know like cnri Steptoe uh you just mentioned your guy Den northcut you know we've had some good DEC Mike Jones you know back in the day like there's there's been some yeah yeah Mike Jones you know 33 no never heard 21 330 8 no oh no I've never heard of him no are you serious Mike Jones isn't it Mike Jones used to play for the for Wildcats Mike Thomas God damn it Mike Thomas damn it I was gonna say man Saul if you're pulling out a name that I don't know I'm gonna feel like a real bone head okay I Mike Thomas Mike Thomas was D awesome he was Money Money Mike yeah yeah I mean they they were all great but none of them were were a first round wide receiver none of them were the caliber of talent um the I you can make an argument the best wide receiver in UA history should have been grank he was a tight end yeah I mean grank Anthony jamino always makes this point where he says and I'm I'm gonna be curious to see what AG says about this he always says covering his time with football in the modern era he said there were all there were three guys that just came in that just looked different than everybody else uh Chris McAllister grank and uh Chuck leey was one back in the day I'm assuming that he's going to add T-Mac to that list but we will find out uh we will find find out we will have Anthony jamino on sometime and maybe he will uh he will throw a bone there but the other thing that makes this very very easy though Saul to project out is that you've got a quarterback in Noah faid that we've I I know we have a few uh little clips from as well about leadership and whatnot that maybe could talk about this what do we got Kevin I want to tell you a story about somebody else right now I was at Syracuse and I just got on the job and somebody told me I know who your defensive captain is going to be and it was some guy by the name of zier Franklin I had never met What makes Fifita different? zier Franklin who's the starting linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts right now and uh and I think he was like a fifth or seventh round draft pick and they said he was going to get cut and you know now he's on the team and he's on his second contract and team captain but that's not the story the point is the person came up and told me who my captain was going to be and I said hey he's not my captain until I tell you he's my captain and that's how I responded I said I've got to see the guy but after I saw the guy for like four or five days I'm like that's gonna be my captain that's the guy that's gonna be the captain Noah was gonna always be the starting quarterback when you meet him you just understand why that it's not even close he is he is as comparable to any quarterback I've ever had off the football field mentally the only person I can compare him to is Jimmy Garoppolo and he's still in the league okay so uh Noah as I said before and I'll I'll bring this to a close is not normal he's different thank God for that yeah again I I just if you've met Noah you know Shane was able to to see Noah over at at Big 12 media day there's the difference between Noah and a lot of other dudes and and I'm not even I'm not even saying it from a talent standpoint I'm just talking about a demeanor and an approach standpoint um the way he delivers himself uh the way he comes across even at Big 12 media day he was surrounded by like Avery Johnson from K State uh cam Rising was there a bunch of other dudes um and he he was a separator he's just a different cat man he really is and to for de Dino babers to see that on day one and understand like yeah that's the dude that's really impressive you know what I like about him too there it's not any he's incredibly modest but it's not the fake modesty we see the fake modesty all the time with people where they're like oh I really suck even though everybody knows you're really good he is very the way that he puts everything on to somebody else in a proactive way to basically mitigate the Shine from him onto somebody else is something that I've noticed from the very beginning because like I said everybody always go people see all the time the stock answer where it's like well it's not about me it's about the team um but I did this this or that he never talks about himself and it's always proactive about somebody else he's like well you got to understand if I have T-Mac here and Jacob coing that makes my job a lot easier when I've got two first round picks in front of me he just again he is just cut from a totally different cloth and again shout out to Les F you can just tell that this kid has been made for this moment from day one nothing overwhelms him nothing nothing is too big for him and when everything goes well it's somebody else when something goes wrong it's on me Saul that is the sign of a leader of men absolutely absolutely I I I'm always going to be impressed by Noah FF and I think you know we always talk or I always say like people invest in people and the one thing that I feel like has been missing from this Arizona Wildcats program and really in in the athletic program period is is just you know how sometimes it could be tough um to get to know these players uh in both basketball and in football and and it's just it can be a chore and you have to really work to try and get access to understand these individuals so when you have somebody the caliber of Noah fafo who has not only embraced Tucson and what this community means but also has found other ways to be engaged in the public eye um has his own podcast um has done a lot of different things he's not afraid to speak his voice uh because he's confident in the way he comes across and that's just such a unique trait for somebody that's not even 21 yet it's incredible I want to talk about something that you hit on there about with the uh about players access to the media and why it's a good thing but first something else that's a good thing is the heiler river Resorts and casinos listen you might say to yourself Mike Luke with the heiler river Resorts and casinos you're always talking about the wave the wave it looks very cool you can see it from there but Saul this is a fun immersive experience you have spent a lot of time in the heer river Resorts and casinos and have you ever come away saying man that was a bummer I say you haven't yeah no it's been it's a fantastic venue you got to go out there we have a fantasy draft coming out up there uh next Thursday at 6:00 p.m. it's going to be electric uh come out see the environment out wild horsse pass but they also got three other casinos that are fantastic you can go out to a Santan you can go out to Via and loneb like they're all amazing it's a great time great venue it's a state-of-the-art facility so whether you want to throw some money on some uh some tables or you want to just get a nice dinner um or you just want to spend the night in a nice little hotel like that's that's the place to go and the cool thing about it too you've got all kinds of stuff there's a top golf there if I'm not mistaken as well there it is s site oh when I was going to deliver something to Saul Bookman and the great Jacob Franklin a while back I walked in there and I'm like holy moly I've just walked into like a Golden Palace this place is amazing check it out you do you at hila River Resorts and casinos visit play at hea.com for more details also Saul what are you driving right now are you still in the uh the Killer B vehicle uh no I actually well yeah I am but uh I did the good folks over at Sanderson did let me uh lend me their Ford F-150 XLT and that thing man I did not want to give it back yesterday at all I'm probably gonna end up getting one at some point because it's just it's what do they say Choice that's an old Choice it's a choice vehicle man it really is it's smooth ride the display was I think it was it probably about 13-inch display it was fantastic clear easy to to to navigate very intuitive the display uh where you know like the speedometer and stuff like that like everything was just clean and it was so intuitive in terms of driving uh it has all it had all the bells whistles it was fantastic experience and the great thing was is like the model that I was driving wasn't crazy expensive it was one of their Baseline models so you can only go up from there so you should definitely check out the good folks of Sanderson 4 because they have absolutely hooked it up and they have a fantastic uh arrangement of vehicles uh for you and your family even better get 0% for 36 months OAC from from Ford Credit see dealer for details now Saul will you put the killer be's uh license plate on there when you get one of these I you going have to change it because the problem with that is it says killer be right and yeah I have that I had that on my hat strap when I was a drill sergeant back in the day so I was like oh I'm G put it and unfortunately when I got that license plate good old Antonio Brown was having a lot of troubles in the league and the first thing somebody said to me was why do you hate Antonio Brown and I was like what do you mean you say it says kill ab and I'm like oh my gosh that is not at all what that is about so Antonio Brown by the way should stay off Twitter um probably should probably stay off more than just Twitter yes probably not a great thing for him Coaches that allow players to speak with media either way do not put down Steve Kerr on the show we're not happy about what he said all right but here's something that uh the greats in the industry get and I've always felt this and lude Olson one time I got to talk with lud Olson a couple times in my life and lud Olsen had the media open to anybody anybody and everybody could talk to the media or to his players and I he was asked about that and I was right there and he said listen this is a preparation for getting these guys a lot of these guys are going to go off into the NBA they're going to go off into a professional life it's good to get them to speak and he said Mike BBY if it was up to Mike BBY would never say anything to anybody but guess what Mike Biby is probably going to be a high draft pick and then he let Mike BBY obviously I mean Mike BBY was going to have a lot of press conf conferences and he said to this day that that was one thing that loot did that he very much appreciated that is something that I you know the uh the schools that allow I that allow full access to players or allow you to interview players I think just kind of get it for the big picture of it I got to give a massive shout out to Doug you know Doug's obviously a legend here but Doug gets it you know that's in I think just in this day and age it's very important that players be able to talk to the media because Saul guess what a lot of these dudes are going to be talking to the media sooner than later on a much grander stage than the local media that it is so again I think it's important that they be able to talk to the media it's it's always been a sticking point and we know this Mike you know and I'm not trying to be disrespectful of anybody in in athletics that's trying to make sure that they're you know um managing these players appropriately and and and making sure that they don't stick their their feet in their mouth but at the same time you'd be shocked at how many of these athletes want a platform to be able to speak and talk about what's going on behind the scenes and give you an inside look and um to learn a little bit more about their history and their life like it's just it's it's a complex situation it shouldn't be as complex in my opinion but that's my opinion and you know UVA is going to operate the way they want to operate and I have nothing but respect for those people I just wish that we could get more access so we could tell more of these stories about you know why so and so is such a tremendous athlete or how much you know work they put in uh or you know the the trials and tribulations at every little turn that like maybe a guy like jakori crosy Meritt has gone through just to get to a point where he can actually play on a legitimate team like it's just I wish we could get that kind of thing because it's valuable and again people invest in people the local public wants to invest in these athletes so let them we are your friends that's the best way I could listen Mark again marketing 101 like at some point I will say this and this is just gmol talking from a marketing perspective if you want to continue to increase the Nils then investors or or whoever is contributing to this or even the general public if there's a fund to contribute to I want to know who I'm investing in agre right like it's not just about Brent Brennan it's not just about Tommy Lloyd it's also about the player and I would like to know what who is this guy all about what is he all about what is he what is in his DNA like instead of just listen we had Archie Bradley in here yesterday right and we had a great conversation afterwards after the show was over because about halfway through the show if you go back and look at him on the show he relaxes he puts his feet up he realizes he's not being interviewed he's not he's not being interviewed so he didn't have to have that guard up and players have guards when they come into these environments and there's like 18 press people wanting to ask them questions like they're going to be a little guarded they're not going to just unload and and relax and you don't get their authentic self until that happens so when you force players to only be in front of five to 10 people at a time and get group questioning you're that's all you're ever GNA get and that's why Noah and T-Mac having their own podcast guess what we're invested in them why because we see who they really are it matters it's important and if you don't want to raise more money then don't raise more money but this is going to help you raise more money so don't cut everybody off sorry that's my two cents you're right you're right I agree with you let me ask you this s and we got some pretty cool all city news that I'm going to let you break down for people at the end of the show because I've had a million people ask me this and I'm like that's way above my pay grade I'm gonna let the the GM talk about that but let me ask you this you mentioned Noah and you mentioned T-Mac and what they've been able to do with their podcast and you're you're on The Cutting Edge of this kind of stuff is that the wave of the future that we're we're seeing with athletes now and about how they want about how they're going to get their stuff out What is the future of athlete access? they're going to basically be doing it their own way because it's now far more of a um an empowerment for the athlete to be able to do what they want when they want is that are we going to see more of that do you think I mean I think we're already seeing more of that I think that's the wave of the future and I think that's that's the first wave right there's going to be other technology that comes across there's going to be another platform that comes across and you know these athletes are going to take advantage of that at that point in time too but for right now yeah I think you know podcasting and doing live streams is is the next medium but you have to you know obviously I think one of the things that surprises a lot of people is how much work it takes to be consistent right and um if you don't have that kind of consistency or you don't have that support in terms of the production side of things because there is a production whether you're doing everything on your own and recording or if you have a whole crew of people that are are doing things like it's still a production there's still a lot of work that has to be put in and I think that's the great thing about teaching these kids like what this is going to be like like if you're really interested in being behind the camera or being on camera and talking about the game like at some point you got to test it out you got to feel it out and um you know there there's tremendous opportunity to do that and you can do it on your own what Vegas' doubting the Wildcats one thing I can and this isn't a read but one thing I can tell you getting back to some football here you want to make a little bit of money one thing I don't understand here is that Vegas is definitely souring a little bit on Arizona and I've been looking at this for a couple days now and I'm not sure why this is um Arizona's at seven and a half wins take the over all day they've been Vegas been behind Arizona uh the last couple years they said it was going to be two and a half when it was five they said be five when it was 10 do you let me ask you this Saul and I didn't put this in the show notes because I wanted to get your uh wanted to get your kind of unvarnished reaction here what do you what do you attribute that to is that basically just kind of we don't know about Brent Brennan because if you look at the talent and again there's some question marks I get it but if you look at the talent this is more than a seven and a half win team yeah no I I think you're spot on I think it's group think right a little bit I think there's so many people that have bought into the the fact that Jed fish was the one that really propelled this team to where they are without really looking at how how that process went about and the things that that improved over the course of the Year mainly Noah faf um you know getting in and getting his feet wet and really understanding what he can and cannot do this team learning how to win at a high level and you kind of saw that kind of play out during that Oklahoma game uh you're playing Oklahoma well they're they're not one of the greater Oklahoma teams of all time but they were a very very staunch opponent very good great program well well coached with Brett venables and they were getting it handed to him for a little while but they figured it out right and they overcame and a majority of that core came back and Brett Brennan is trying and tried to add to that and I think when you buy into Brett Brennan if you don't know that's the reason why um you you are trying to you know take them down a Peg and say well I don't think that they can they can win eight games well I'm uh I'm not GNA guarantee but I feel very confident that they're going to win at least eight games this Seas but here's what I've said we've talked about this before and I guess here's where I'm confused about this because you're right I think you had the nail on the head but look at Brennan's track record this isn't some Fly by Night guy that you know I mean again he's been in the uh whatever conference that is the Mountain West or whatever the championship game the last two years at a at a tough place to win May sure maybe he's not sexy but again like I keep saying you don't look at this guy and say oh man that could be a total train wreck that's where I'm I'm confused yeah I don't think so either but again you it doesn't matter what what kind of talk is happening they want to see things on the field they want to see the proof in the field um and you know more often than not I would say that there's a slight little step back for most programs when they take on a new head coach listen it's a completely different feel it's completely different vibe it's a completely different approach and um when things are that kind of out of whack then it can it can be bad but what Brett Bren did in his approach and if you took the time to really read and look and listen you'll understand that Jacob Cowing in the NFL he did not want to change very much right he wanted just kind of he wanted to put his imprint on the program but he did it in a way that also included some of the the fundamental things that this core has been with for the last three or four years so I it's not a complete overhaul in my estimation right now if it ain't broke what do they say don't fix it don't fix it also guess what here something that we like oh super snap preach here Saul is my $2 investment into phnx we very much appreciate this investment thank you very much 120 cents coming our way coming your way Saul Bookman we like this thanks a cats G appreciate you again we appre we appreciate you also I wanted to talk a little bit now because it's weird NFL is right around the corner and Saul Jacob coing and Jordan Morgan it is awesome seeing U OFA players in the NFL that is fantastic we got a little clip the the prodigious Kevin Thomas put this together um five touches 70 yards and four first downs against the Saints I asked a bunch of people on Twitter saw why he can't be Z flowers and I never really got an answer I mean maybe he can't I don't know but to me they're kind of the carbon copy similar player who's that Jacob cing and who uh Z flowers wide receiver from the Baltimore Ravens ah see both see it I could see it I could see it for sure yeah I mean Jacob C has always been a good player a great player like the fact that he landed on the 49ers of course right like what kind of what kind of career do you see him having oh I could see him having a 10-year career pretty easily I would as a slot guy um kind of a Tyler Lockett kind of kind of vibe there you know really like Tyler Lockett uh EMA K State there you go um you know and and so like I could easily see something like that and then also in that system with the 49ers they're they're just so good at making sure that they can um take advantage of all their their skill players at a high level and so Jacob CO's gonna get plenty of opportunity to prove that you know we're definitely in the stage too where if you have acceleration it doesn't matter how big how fast how tall you are if you could accelerate and again jamino always makes this point I think it's a great point I'll continue to steal it in that his his burst from zero to 10 yards that's something that is special that is something that a lot of guys that can can run a really fast 40 time don't necessarily have I think he's going to be a very productive player now again I'm not going to sit here and say that he's going to be a 1700 yard player but if you were to tell me that he was going to have a number of Seasons where he was in that eight to nine00 yard realm you know six seven touchdowns I could see it because that's other thing Saul is that he knows how to get in the end zone and generally with small players you either have that or you don't and he has the ability 13 touchdowns last year seven the previous year and he generally played really good against really well against good teams as well I like him man I think that he was a great I think he was a steal at that round and I think he's going to have a long career I agree with you sa Bookman yeah I think you know I what what the NFL did for a little while is I think a lot of um GMS out there saw what the Patriots were doing with like Julian Edelman and Wes Welker and they thought oh we could just repeat that and so they started drafting these little Mighty Mites and and it just didn't work out like look at the the Arizona Cardinals they drafted a bunch of tweeners and none of them worked out at all they're all gone except for one Greg dorch who's been at four or five different training camps before he even got here God is opportunity um very hard worker and now is is is going to be a starter uh this season for the Arizona Cardinals so you're looking at that you need specific skill sets when you're talking about the smaller wide receivers in the league because they have to be quick twitch and they have to be sure with their hands or they have to be the most proficient route Runner ever and if you don't have either one of those which if you go back and you look at Andy Isabella for crying out loud like that's not gonna work it's never gonna hold up Bella my guy oh Arizona Cardinal great Andy Isabella yes that was great all right Mo what's that oh now if we could get back to I want to get back to a little bit of Arizona football but first before we do that we got to talk about the elephant in the room here Saul and there's I think something that we do need to address here and that is the desert Financial Credit Union listen you might say to yourself Mike what can the desert Financial Credit Union do for me well thanks for asking first of all 200 bucks all what are you going to I was going to say uh um 200 bucks what are you up to uh where you could probably use some of that let me guess with a new car maybe fill up a couple tanks of gas my friend 200 bucks what do you say I just buy some more merch from the PHX Locker how about that you could do that one as well again either way you do you but desert Financial Credit Union is here you know what's great about desert Financial Credit Union too they're reliable therefore for the people bu the people everybody knows about desert Financial Credit Union check it out the great thing again is that you will be very very happy about this when you open a free checking account online get $200 in bonuses get started by visiting desertfinancial.com 20000 I have been remiss on something with desert Financial Credit Union generally when I go around the city and I see a Circle K if I'm uh I take a picture of it or I see some of our other sponsors I say a shady Rays I'll take a picture of the person and without them knowing I put it out on Twitter I have not taken pictures of the desert Financial Credit Union as I've been going around town I need to step up my game on this one um we didn't talk about this in the beat meeting last week I don't care I'm going to step my game up desert Financial Credit Union deserves this Saul I uh I good for you I I don't really frequent uh like listen everything's online nowadays so I do my banking online through desert Financial I don't have to go to the actual uh Bank but if you would like to and you want to send us a photo please by all means we could always uh back the D back back to D we got to figure out one on that but we will find it out either way desert was good desertfinancial.com get that $200 in there also the other elephant there's been so many elephants on this show we've had like a lot of elephants uh what's a what is a a herd of elephants called um an elephante just turned it into like an Italian Dish elante please what do you got no what is it Kevin did you look it up I did it's a parade a parade of elephants it is it is called a herd but less commonly it's called a memory or a parade interesting interesting I did not know that uh interesting I did not know that very good all right now you might have heard Kevin Thomas on the Kevin Thomas from St Louis and Kevin Thomas has been around water before he's probably been in some Rivers check it out rugged Road my friend you us later promo code phnx for 10% off man saw this would look really really good in the back of one of your uh back of your new vehicle perhaps just maybe maybe throwing that one out there okay now let's get back to a little bit Wildcats on the ESPN top 100 college football players list Arizona football we've got the top uh ESPN came out with the top 100 list I have a couple bones to pick with them but I want to get your take here's what the uh the great Kevin or the prodigious Kevin Thomas can pull this up I think t-x too low I would not put him at 13 um he caught for, 1400 yards 12 touchdowns last year I say move him up what say you sa Bookman uh I would agree he should be top 10 for sure um but the rest of the list I think is about spot on yeah I would agree with that now I would I'm biased towards Noah I would like to see Noah a little bit higher but I've got a I think what we're going to see after the season let me ask you this Saul after the season which where where do you see these players falling in this top 100 list then that that's my I think all of them will be in the top 75 right I would agree with that and who the one that you think and Kevin if you could bring that up one last time I'd very much appreciate it um if you would uh out of all these players which one do you think is the one that could make the biggest leap uh I'm going to go the easy route and I'm gonna go tario Davis because he's the lowest on the list um I think you know he's going to have some prime time opportunities to be able to show out and show off his skills uh and you know if he's able to do it at a high level I can easily see him gaining 20 spots because for f to gain 20 spots that's that's a big leap and you're you're you're basically saying that he should be he he would be an All-American no doubter first or second team at that point I think if he was able to to jump 20 spots at least uh Jonah it's just gonna be really hard for a tackle to to creep up that list unless he's just doing some absurdly awesome things out there on that field which is very hard for a tackle to do so I think tario is the the one that I think can make the biggest leap Jonah is going to be the one that we're going to properly appreciate come um uh NFL draft day when he's sitting in their uh and getting picked that's where he's gonna really be but I do have like I can can we break this down for a second of course so uh 12 total Big 12 players were were in this top 100 list okay 12 of them total five quarterbacks uh two quarterbacks were listed above him can you tell me which two in the Big 12 yes well obviously shadur um and then I am going to say Jaylen Daniels you are correct Jaylen Daniels was at 40 shador Sanders was at 24 um I again I listen shador Has Talent he's a very talented player I'm not going to take that away from him whatsoever I think he's a I think as a as a Pro Prospect he's as good as uh you'll find but um you know you're also anticipating team success in this I think is is part of it how good is your team how good do you make your team right and I think that there's an argument to be made that Noah faf means more to Arizona than shadu Sanders means to Colorado period I agree with you because again we were looking at a team that if no let's be honest here if Noah doesn't go in at some point Arizona's wi in five games last year they look Terri maybe six all right maybe six all right fine all right I will give the boss that benefit of the doubt maybe six but that is the point though is that you were not looking at a 10- win team Noah made that I thought that was interesting also I got another go ahead Arizona has four I believe the only other team has two if I'm not mistaken yeah no no other team has more than two Colorado has two Kansas has two k state has one Oklahoma state has one and Texas Tech has one and Utah has won and that's it yeah so I mean I'm just saying the talent is there too the talent is certainly there I believe though let's be honest here Jacob Manu should be on this list I believe he should be on this list sa Bookman what say you I would say top 100 should be should be achievable I I'll give you that for sure all right absolutely all right that's that's all I wanted just like again like I think the thing that we're looking at is first of all this list is trash I'll just say that right now top 100 list and you only have 12 Big 12 players but like half the damn roster for Ohio State and Georgia is on this list like and Oregon like those three schools by themselves took up a majority of the list that's ridiculous s guys in Iowa yeah like what are we doing here you you mean to tell me that you can't find any other players in the Big 12 that you think are a top 100 caliber type of player come on man yeah no I no I totally I totally agree with you on that totally agree with you on that um all right so that's kind of where we are with all of that now on this show we always try to talk at least a little bit of Arizona basketball because this is or maybe not maybe because the audio issues Outro we're having right now we issues on that to another day maybe that all right well anyways um so now you're back to normal look at that let's just wrap it up anyway because they do have a show at three o'clock so all right well I do apologize all right on that note though um that's interesting all right sa Bookman though no better time to become phnx die hard we can bring in the great Eric Ruby to be able to talk about this yes we know this the Die Hard membership card you can carry that around and show it to everybody say yes I am a die hard we all know that we deserve this access to all of our premium written content yes yes yes yes yes we know this the boss all Bookman listen to easy wild cats podcast you want to get audio of Behind Enemy Lines you can get that and of course if you want to talk to me you can go into the Discord l and you can hear all about the different fast food burgers that I like to eat yes yes yes we know this the boss saw Bookman I am merely Mike Luke fantastic just such a fantastic ad read by ER is that you laughing in the background too that is me laughing in the background for sure so again become a Die Hard support the cause I can't wait to get out there to those tailgates this this year and have some fun we're working on a lot of cool things with Mike um you know not only we're going to get some studio space we're going to we're going to put some events together we're going to have Mike out there with the public uh you know doing some things at some of these local establishments and maybe uh you guys can join us for a few drinks uh as we walk over to uh another game at Arizona stadium and celebrate our favorite team so all right this the boss Saul Bookman did it said it better than I could but for Saul Bookman for the prodigious Kevin Thomas behind the scenes St Louis's finest I am merely Mike Luke we'll be back with you tomorrow the goat Brian Jeff will be joining us ever done come back with this you have been listening to the A Wildcats [Music] [Applause] podcast like the May
