name he's not playing okay so excluding the starters no Dustin Hopkins either by the way which is a little weird I think um no Rodney McLoud no David Bell so I think he's pretty solidified on this roster they don't need to see more from him no Cedric Tilman no Ronnie Hickman no Jerome Ford even your backup running back is not playing um no de oh he's still on the pup list Nathaniel Watson no Charlie Hugh with the Long Snapper he's been kind of nicked up lately no Tony Fields no urano no Michael Dunn no Quinton Jefferson no murst no Alex Wright I mean those are just some of the backups that aren't playing on top of all the starters that are not playing uh oh we'll get to that in a moment but uh $5 yeah um so oh my goodness unbelievable I'm just trying to talk about the offensive okay uh I did want to talk about the offensive line I've been trying to get there and I keep getting sidetracked so James Hudson well let me take a step back first Jed wills and Jack Conlin still on the public scares me I thought Jed Wills would be off the pess by now I'm wondering if something went wrong in either a rehab was there a secret second surgery we don't know about like something's not adding up and so with Jed wills and Jack Conlin still on the pup list and we're a little over 20 days away from NFL Week 1 we're seeing a lot of James Hudson at left tackle that's not good and I don't think the Browns are very confident in James Hudson because they're still playing him in the pre season when all the other starters are not playing so clearly the Browns are trying to get James Hudson up to speed they're also floating and flirting with Gera Fetti around the block a little bit like they know they got Dean Jones to hold down the right side until Conlin comes back but I'm not confident in James Hudson at left tackle after what we saw last year would love to be proven wrong but man this is concerning to be this close to the regular season season still have your top two guys on the pup list doesn't even really sound like they're close to coming back you know haven't heard any good or encouraging updates and James Hudson is not a man that I think is going to instill a ton of confidence in the dog pound so that's one storyline I'm monitoring like when the offense goes on the field I'm going to be zeroing in on James Hudson at the left tackle position another storyline to keep keep an eye on and this one is not so football related but more of a news related thing and that's my call so let's run through the facts and won't we know Mall had a domestic violence incident with his fiance at his home on Monday night he was arrested on Tuesday Morning charged with a misdemeanor uh domestic violence on Wednesday he participates in the first joint practice with the Vikings suffers a stinger does not practice on Thursday and he has suited up to play today so all signs are pointing to M call playing today I am you not usually I'm a big believer in innocent until proven guilty and as fans and as a society we tend to rush to conclusions probably too quick at times but based on the details of the arrest I mean they were disturbing to say the least put a gun to his fiance's head now maybe this will become a little bit of a he said she said and there's evidence that proves to the otherwise and this was all made up which I don't like to believe because it really takes away from real stories but it wouldn't be the first time that something like this has happened mat Arisa the punt God had some Lies made up about him um the Trevor Bower like had I'm not too knowledgeable on that one but I know that there was some level of you know falsehood being presented in his case and unless the Browns are very knowledgeable on the situation and the truth that went on they know a lot more than we do I don't understand why M call is playing in this game like if they're simply playing him until they are told he is suspended that's [ __ ] like this is a franchise that's already under a lot of scrutiny for the DeShaun Watson trade they put a lot of fans in tough positions trying to defend their favorite team they are you know the but end of a lot of jokes but it's still the Browns still going to watch them but to be so toned deaf after all that you got a guy who had these awful allegations and sure they're allegations but until some level of an inquiry is done he's going to play to me there seems like there's enough evidence out there to be like this is something worth holding out on it's disappointing to say the least again if the Browns have much more knowledge on this than we do which I'm sure they do but do they know for certain one way or the other what happened or are they just going to play him until they are told yeah you can't play him anymore he's suspended okay all if he's spended we'll stop playing him that's just going to make it really tough on this fan base and ignore the fan base for a second here like how about the see him in preseason week one I don't believe he returns it starting from the 10 across the 20 and gets out across the 30 but not much further than that so we'll see Deontay Foreman remember he got injured in um West Virginia he got helicoptered to a hospital which sounded bad and it definitely was not good but that was more just a result of being in somewhat an isolated part of the country there was just no hospital nearby and when you're an NFL team you had the luxury of uh calling up the chopper first and 10 Dorian Thompson Robinson who's at left tackle cuz I don't think first and 10 for DTR he throws to the flat it is dropped I think it's an incomplete pass I hope it was moving forward Germaine affetti is starting at left tackle James Hudson's at right tackle so I don't think the Browns are putting a ton of confidence in Hudson filling in at left tackle for as long as Jed Wheels is out so they're giving affetti a former first round pick a look at left tackle Andy Dickerson you of inspiring stuff from Pierre in preseason week one Jerome Ford will not play today he's a healthy scratch every starter is not playing and a lot of backups are not playing either 39 to be exact almost 50% of the Rost second and 10 for Dorian Thompson Robinson at his own 48 DTR throwing this is a caught pass by Jordan Akens gain of seven nice catch by Akens I was hoping for a little bit more out of him last year as a Red Zone Target for Watson ultimately we didn't get a whole lot from Watson in terms of availability but I hopeful that in year two he can really develop and grow into a Red Zone QB threat third and two they cross the 50 yard line with that last completion under Center Thompson Robinson takes the snap it's a hand off to Pierre strong Jr he's trying to get to the line of game but he's not going to I don't think he got past really the line of scrimmage not a lot of Running Room not a lot going on Fourth and two what is defans you want to do you want to punt it you're kind of in that no man's land you're at the Vikings 45ish yard line might as well go for it are you trying to learn if borz can punt or you trying to give these guys an opportunity to prove and earn a the case for like Christian mcaffrey right KK cousins in Atlanta I'm not sold on that not that bejon can't be a really good player but like round one fantasy running back has to be elite Bree Hall was sneaky good last year I I like that and it's be tough to find a running back later as the Vikings on First and 10 are inside the prize picks Red Zone and they run their way for a three- yard pickup Bree Hall is tempting because you're not going to find a ton of good RB options later in the draft um other options like Aman Ross St Brown is hanging out that neighborhood who else is just kind of think huntley's yeah Huntley had a bad day and it definitely doesn't help that DTR had a pretty solid day like he had one interception too but those ones his one was not as bad as huntley's neither quarterback really overly impressed I thought DTR looked better of the two today and he's probably in line to get that qb3 job and Hunley will probably get waved they might wave him now so that he can have a chance of starting elsewhere or getting a job elsewhere and then they go into Seattle with Watson jamus and DTR like that's their quarterback room moving forward so don't be surprised if they decide if huntley's not our man we might as well cut bait now and maybe someone else will claim him and he can go play for them in preseason week three they can find a trade then I'm sure they'd be very interested I don't know what team is trading for Tyler Huntley right now like who is he better than a team would be trading him for like the Vikings for example um they lost JJ McCarthy but I don't think Huntley comes in better than Nick Mullen and that's who he'd be competing to be the backup for so might as well keep Mullen behind darnold Soul Train they should trade whoever QB number four is I'm like I ironic enough like do the Vikings need to trade for a third string quarterback like they would trade for a backup quarterback I believe that I don't think Huntley show today he's better than Nick mullets so they're going to give him a pick for qb3 doubt I really doubt it you got to find a team that Huntley is better than their current backup or they have an injury I don't know how many teams that list has on it none just kind of scratching my head here I got nothing um let me know when you are ready Mr Reed okay um I thought let me just kind of looking over things that jumped out to me um Deontay Foreman looked really good today so that was good to see as the Browns await the return of Nick chub I definitely think that the Browns have something they're informing um and it sucks that they are really banged up at tackle like even their third and fourth string tackles are injured okay here we go I'm ready if you are let's do it so postgame show coming up right now uh Fanatics yeah I forgot too uh yeah just the top one no updates on the tackle injuries that James hudston and James hudston and akima den sustained in the loss definitely doesn't look good I'll be honest definitely not a good time to get injured at tackle and I would expect the Browns to go and sign a tackle soon okay here we go ready when you are you ready here we [Music] go the Browns drop preseason week two to the Vikings 27 to2 in a game that I don't want anyone to overreact to I don't know how clear I can make it when I say that's not the 2024 Browns like the guys on the field are all fighting for the 53rd spot on the roster for the most part with one or two exceptions and practice squad spots so that's why I don't get panicked over how the team looks in the preseason Browns fan should know better than anyone else that preseason wins do not translate to regular season wins and the same should apply to losses but here are the final stats from the Browns preseason loss Nick mullen's probably the player of the game for both teams he was kind of carving up that Browns defense to open up the game and when 135 yards and one touchdown against primarily all second but even some third stringers for the Browns defense uh there were some good spots like Shelby Harris we saw him play here's one of the few like actual impactful players meaningful guys that even suited up for this game but probably the lone bright spot I would say for the Browns and I don't think the stats actually do it justice but Deontay Foreman 10 carries 18 yards one touchdown his yardage and carry started to ruin his average because he was running behind like I don't even know like I I think CFL would be a diservice to describe how deep the Browns had to go at offensive tackle James Hudson who started off at right tackle eventually switched to left tackle he suffered an ankle injury no update on him akima Den suffered a I believe knee injury after trying to tackle a Vikings player following an interception but Deontay Foreman was probably one of the more impactful guys in the game altogether it was our first look at him and with Nick chub still on the pup list as we get closer and closer to week one don't be surprised if you see Deontay Foreman really push Jerome forward for the amount of carries they each get in week one against the Cowboys so keep an eye on Foreman uh another receiver that jumped out to me Jamari thrash he continues to make some really good plays as a rookie three grabs for 25 yards I think he's going to be a lock to make this roster as the Browns wide receiver competition continues to get stiffer and stiffer between David Bell Jaylen Darden um James procha for special teams so definitely some fun battles going on for wide receiver six but I mean at the end of the day this was a preseason game and it showed through and through Browns played third and fourth stringers for the most part not no starters played really at all want to count like Devin Bush okay um but no it was all backups and even a lot of the backups didn't play I mean nearly 40 guys did not suit up for the Browns so these are not games that you should make big deals out of I I know that a game but I just I I cannot express enough how little emphasis I place in the outcome of this preseason game when there's not a single starter on the field for the Browns it's not the 2024 Browns it's the practice squad playing against the Vikings practice squad so Vikings they had some really good moments defensively against Tyler Huntley in the second half uh I don't think Tyler Huntley is going to be here much longer I feel like the Browns know that DTR is their qb3 I wouldn't be surprised if they move on from Huntley as soon as tomorrow so that he has an opportunity to go sign somewhere else and maybe suit up for them in the final game of the preseason so keep an eye on that but to me it appears that DTR has separated himself Huntley had some bad picks today I mean DTR wasn't perfect either it wasn't as good as he probably was last week but Huntley going 14 for 20 135 yards two interceptions it's just likely that Browns go with Dorian Thompson Robinson as their third quarterback who was 13 for 17 for 126 yards his one interception was a tip pass from Jamari thrash so I didn't get a good enough look at it to know who to sign blame to if it was just a really good play by the defender and unlik for DTR or that's something thrash should have caught so I think if you're wondering how the qb3 battle is shaping up it's really favoring DTR plus being a fifth round draft pick last year the back of your head that's got to factor in a little bit when making the decision also I don't know the Browns had the next like white Randy Moss uh giovan RI the fullback four grabs 32 yards out of nowhere un fortunately he suffered a knee injury missed the entire second half but like that was kind of a pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting at all so that was cool that kind of got us through a little bit of a sleeper of a game um offensive tackle is an issue now the good news is these aren't the starters the bad news is the starters are still on the pup list Jed wills and Jack Conlin so it is important to watch James Hudson and jera Fetti whereas if we're talking about the backup like wide receiver stinking okay the good news is those aren't the starters but as of now I think James Hudson is on a path to start week one at left tackle and he was not very impressive he suffered an ankle injury so the Browns I think are going to be shopping for offensive tackles I think they're going to try and bring someone in hold them over until wills and or Conlin return which by the way what's going on with them I I feel like we were I wouldn't say led to believe but I think collectively everyone thought based on when Conlin got hurt last year early in the season and the type of injury will sustained and we seeing him throughout the spring a little bit that they would not be on the pup list going into week three of the preseason like that surprises me so I'm starting to get concerned because we're now no longer just like six weeks away from week one no it's creeping up on us it's three weeks away so the Browns need to figure out what their plan is at offensive tackle now I I don't want them to try and you know sit on their hands and hope that one of option really is gerain a Fetti or a free agent like I don't think there was anyone else on this roster you trust Michael dunna left tackle of course not like do you want to try Dean Jones at left tackle and try to place one of your guards at right tackle or place one of your guards at Right Guard and kick teller to tackle like are you going to get that creative for week one unlikely so the Browns um from this preseason game I don't think they showed us anything that requires like any big strong reaction just hope that they can get healthy at offensive tackle and Deontay Foreman showing us some really positive stuff going into the final preseason game which by the way will be next Saturday in Seattle 1 p.m. eastern time kickoff yeah that sucks now I'm going to be at my grandma's 80th birthday so I don't believe I'll be having a watch party like I always do Nanny would be a little upset if the computer came out for a watch party but if she goes to bed early you might sneak one in
