versus the Minnesota Vikings and I'mma tell you what everybody been talking about oh my goodness you know you you you get all your work that you need to get in done with the Vikings and you need to get all your work you get all the work in on on the on the inner Squad thing you don't even listen all that all that that noise and jar and that's cool for what y'all want to do out there man but as far as the people I hear the hardcore fans we gotta lock in and we got to get to this situation because I'm G tell you what the people that's not getting the Reps the people ain't gonna be getting the Reps and when they do the inner Squad scrimmage are the guys that you gonna see today front row and center and I let me just go ahead and let you know something we should already understand this right as Cleveland Browns fans we should already understand and get this just because you don't you you you don't see these guys playing now just because you are a second and third Stringer Now does not mean you're not going to be a first Stringer or a person that's coming up here that's going to make some plays and end RS with the clevand Browns when the season starts we should all be watching these games and the reason why I'm a person that I detest when people say things like these games don't count I'm not interested in seeing nothing I don't want to see nothing this is nothing I'm not gonna sleep on this these guys ain't gonna be playing listen you do a disservice to your your industry bro you do a disservice to what we call Sports Talk in this game and I got into the game by talking about sports with people and the fans and doing that type of stuff and people is all around here telling you why you don't need to be paying no attention to this and guess what we we should all know what happened last year did did we pay attention to the guys that was playing in the playoffs we sure did because we had guys coming off the streets we had practice squad guys in and out in and out and guess what the coaching staff had to get these guys coached up ready to go and play if we would have had some of the guys if we would have been able to develop some people if we would been able to have the second and third tier guys that we needed to have maybe we wouldn't have had to go into the Houston Texas and take the L that we took because we had so many depleted positions like offensive tackle you're going to see opportunities to see offensive tackle play today you're gonna get backup play you're gonna see an opportunity to get some of your those cornerbacks and plays that cam Mitchells and the dard and all these other guys that you you you've drafted this is where you develop your time this is where you develop your people and getting guys ready to play that guess what if somebody goes down which we have a bunch of people going down these guys are the guys that are gonna be filling in for you I'm sitting here I'm confused and looking at it and I'm going down I'm going down the the the the list of the people that that that's out let's take a look at it let me just see this is the list of people that are injured right now that are listed as injured for the Cleveland Browns Mari Cooper he left practice Thursday right uh uh uh David and joku stopped participating team drills on Thursday Maurice Hurst left practice Thursday with app parent leg injury Mike Hall Jr suffered a stinger he's in trouble outside of the old football field he has some stuff he has something to worry about outside of it Rodney McLoud didn't practice Thursday uh Denzel Ward is in concussion protocall Greg Nome Jr rehabilitating from uh hamstring surgery dvin Thomas rehabilitating for knee surgery Jed Wills knee surgery last year Jack Concklin knee surgery last year Nick chub two knee surgeries last year Naim Hines knee surgery last year DeAnthony Bell has a shin Rodney Hickman has a back Luke Wilford Supple a broken ankle preseason Jordan Hicks uh he has an undisclosed injury uh linebacker Tony Fields has an undisclosed injury Shelby Harris is on the injury report Nathaniel Watson has a quad David beld has a quad Michael Dunn undisclosed Jaylen d closed and and Charlie hwit undisclosed I'm sitting here I'm not just sitting there telling y'all this like I'm just saying this because I just want to Rattle off the guys that are injured what I'm saying to you is all of those guys are not guaranteed to be back that's why this game is so important and it's time for some of these young dudes to step up here right here on this preseason game to me I'm looking for I'm looking to come in here and take a position because for me the Cleveland Browns are not going to get to where they want to get to unless they get guys that are in the third fourth fifth six rounds that they can get going and making sure that these guys can step up and make plays and this starts today I'm waiting on Cedric Tilman I've seen people Rave about Cedric Tilman I'm waiting big dog I'm waiting I'm waiting to see what you're doing give me give me a two touchdown game today and there's no reason Cedric Tilman shouldn't be playing a big big reps big Reps for David Bell I'm I I go if but I will tell you one thing I was so encouraged by I was encouraged by the fact that Justin Jefferson and Martin Emerson was going back and forth back and forth I love the fact that Martin Emerson was out there I I reached out to tyus and and um he's he's working for the Browns radio network I had him on my radio show today and he talked about some of the great work that they they were able to get with Justin Jefferson and Martin nerson I asked Mary K C of cleveland.com I said listen you know you asked the question um you know how much was it how much was it the competition level when you were going against uh Martin emberson and you know Justin Jefferson he didn't it was no cap he came out and said listen he's one he's physical he's one of the best corners in the league and we just saw J get a pocket full of money I think Martin erson and shout out to Earl I he somewhere smiling I think Martin Emerson is going to be one of those guys that's going to mess around and get get a little bit of money because you take a look at what he was able to do when you can lock up Justin Jefferson and you can get those reps against a guy and denzo wart would have been probably getting them reps he's in concussion protocol but for him to hold his own against one of the top three receivers in the league that bows well for him getting another bag of money and uh and I think he's playing with some of the best confidences he's had so far before we get to uh our second topic I want to before I want to break I ask you guys what are you guys interested in seeing give me some names of these young guys you guys been participating we appreciate you guys um let's see let's get to some people uh that want to see uh Jackson said uh Jamari thrash he's a he's one of these guys that's the way you know DTR is him D in in in in in preseason DTR top five dead or alive in preseason he get to start today he got an opportunity to go ahead and put this uh this quarterback number three competition all the way in in under the dirt Michael Woods is another guy shout out to you Jordan uh Aiden Robinson okay I see I see you uh J Jed Wills is in Mya we'll talk about that coming up in a little bit as well uh Isaiah says need to see uh Tim and look like that guy I I totally agree you got the body type you got the physicality you've been in the system for more than one year now it's time to turn it on what you need to do is come out here and get you about six catches for about 90 some yards a couple a touchdown or two and go ahead and and sip some Kool-Aid on the sideline get you some Gatorade and and go yuck it up a little bit but until we see that type of production you got to dominate on these levels that's what I'm looking to see Thrasher Tillman would be huge uh he's Hey listen who you looking forward to see ji Watson you [Laughter] funny Landers hey we heard Landers was making some plays um Hey listen Landers you you're you're available to make some plays today again I need to see a couple big plays from you diabat yes diat uh I think he's bad on Mike I'm G tell you Devin bush is gonna start I'm tell you Devon Bush gonna start but diabate is gonna be a guy there I think it's gonna make the squad 319 people in here shout out to you guys man see a lot of times and we trying this out and I'm just and let me see you put it in the chat I'm and and and guys if you catch this late comment on it I I'm of the thought process that I believe Browns fans would support a pregame show and it's tough to do a pregame show sometimes because you know when you do a pregame show you just do it and it's done right you know there's not really replay value unless you come back um and watch it over and over again it's not you know replayable because obviously the information is a little dated so but I I've been saying for a while and I want to see and you guys will tell me you guys are are are the reason why we push all this stuff you guys will let us know whether or not this is something that you guys would be interested but I think if you had some thought-provoking and you and you really had some numbers and the breakdowns and different things that what the watch for and really did a unique breakdown uh on on this platform I think it would do numbers so it's 327 watching here we'll do it if you guys want it just like everything else let me know if you guys we appreciate you guys uh as well here's my thoughts today we talked about the young guys let's talk about uh the offensive line and I never thought about this and and we in this this spawn my thought process when everybody was talking about the offensive line and whether they looking good or whether they looking bad or what what they're doing and one of the things that that I looked at was with the offensive line was I never took it I never took into consideration two things we always talk about Bill Callahan and what he means and he's is gonna be missed but no one has really touched down on this and this is new for the longest time the Cleveland Browns was a ground and pound team for the longest time you relied on Nick chub you relied on three tight ends and also you rely on play action run action and as a defensive line I know very intim defensive lineman former defensive lineman I know very intimately the way play action and run action affects you up front when you're running play action and run action I have no choice as a defensive lineman but to respect that because if I'm out there running around blocks and and playing pass Nick chub backs like that guys are gonna be making sure that they're getting north and south and they're not gonna play you and we can't play you if you giving up six yards on the ground if you giving up six on first down on the ground we're done we can't stop nothing they doing so the Cleveland Browns for a lot of years had guys up front that were better one blockers than they were pass blockers that goes for Joe bonio that goes for Wyatt teller that goes for Ethan posid that goes for Jed Wills that goes for all of them the only person if you look at it according to the numbers in PFF the only person that's a better pass blocker than run blocker is Wyatt teller not excuse me not Wyatt teller but danan Jones and that's that seems like oxymoron because dwan Jones is a mammoth of a of a man you think he would be able to Cave down the whole side but to be truthful his his strong suit is to be able to punch and keep guys off of him with those long arms but I say that to say this the Browns have relied on the play action game the Browns have relied on that down that that that that that fake freezing linebackers and then getting yards underneath they also had a very mean screen game the one thing that the Browns had with Baker Mayfield and Kevin stansky nobody talks about was this that screen game was mean they used to use chub they used to use hunt they used to use Jarvis Landry in the Shing game they would run tight end screens back then I remember it just seemed like they was just destroying the Steelers with screens and that also slows down the rush but one of the in unintended consequences of wanting to throw the football more is the the fact that now you want to throw the ball and you're in shotgun and now teams know you want to throw it and when they know you want to throw it as a defensive lineman like myself if you want to if you want to do shotgun runs all down the field by all means go ahead but we we're not playing to run on that that's not a staple what you guys want to do and now you get defensive ends and defensive tackles and defensive linemen that are pinning their ears back and as an offensive lineman you now have to be great pass blockers and it's hard to be Joe Thomas when people when you know it's a pass rush coming and they don't that you know that we know that we know that I know that we running or throwing the football it's hard to be back there looking around and and lock somebody up and they got michah Parsons week one week two Josh Allen 17 and a half sacks Michael Parson's 14 week three the Giants got a Tibido 11 and a half sacks come week four you got the Las Vegas Raiders and your boy Max Crosby who might be one of the best defensive lineman top three right now 14 and a half sacks that's your first four weeks and if Jed Wills ain't playing and we don't know where he's at he's Mia we have not heard from Jed Wheels in weeks I talked to Mary Kay about this on the radio today they don't even know what Jed Wills is doing most of his work is done inside then when he comes out he's doing light jogging like like light activities so he's not even really to be honest with you he's not really out there like that so my question to you guys is how close is he to really playing and I'm telling y'all I'm a lineman I I'm still big I still got lineman size you know how hard it is for a lemen not to be in football shape and then work your way into football shape it's different so you telling me he not gonna be no helmet no nothing and he just there no it's not a thing that's not a thing and that leaves us with all eyes on James Hudson and I'mma tell you what it's James husband been way in the system way too long to be looking the way he do he been a part of the program he been in the strength and conditioning program he done been under Bill Callahan he done been here they done drafted him he didn't had three years of just regular working out with the team the opportunity to get stronger and it ain't looking it ain't looking like that I'mma tell you what somebody ask me do they need to make a move they surely do because if Jed wills and I and I'm been critical of Jed Wills just think about if I've been critical of Jed Wills in his performance how bad the performance of James Hudson has to be that I say I gotta go out and go get me somebody that's wild that's that's wild man it's crazy so you you you know we we we look at these things and we talk about them but I'm sitting here telling you guys they have to have a a very serious conversation they need to be looking at the Waiver Wires they need to figure this out because if Jed Wheels is not available play and you can't count on Jack Conlin because he's been out as long as Jed Wills has and we haven't seen him either the key to this season the key to what we trying to do when people are sitting around and talking about the Des Watson and all boils down to this and it all boil that's reductive reasoning you're telling them yourself fellas you can't have reductive football conversations no it's not all about DeShaun Watson because I'm G tell you what if it's James Huston is out there it's gonna be about Michael Parson being in the backfield and then I'mma ask y'all remember you said it was all about Deshawn Watson and whether he's going to be in Elite Super Bowl quarterback no it ain't got nothing to do with that see that's you guys are reducing that maybe if you watch these preseason games that you said you didn't care about see this was what G Bush did I'm sorry I'm sorry this I apologize I apologize you know this is why this is why people be mad at you you be you be saying stuff and people get all up in hot and but I'm telling you no don't joke in games that's the first four four the top ends in the game and you don't have no time to be half he actually you know he He commands the offense he does what he needs to do he moves around in the pocket he finds the right guys even though they had the touchdown call back DTR jumped in that game and it was the first time the Browns offense looked like it was doing something right and I think what you seeing in full display is the fact that DTR has played so many years in college kind of funny though but playing at UCLA for for five years and I think a lot of these quarterbacks that are playing during the co years getting these extra years getting these extra reps guys playing six seven years you're getting guys that come into the league and and are looking more and more Savvy Caleb Williams played well today uh JJ McCarthy was playing well before he got injured for the uh the Minnesota Vikings um there's a lot of younger guys coming in with that experience level just running the offense and it's ready to go like they're they're not intimidated by what they've been thrown at and DTR to me in this game as he gets a chance to start he got an opportunity to to to win this this uh to win this uh this competition today uh because I think Tyler Hunley is a guy who I liked coming in I like his experience level I like the fact that he he's played meaningful games and football games for the Ravens but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if the Cleveland Browns try to trade him and get some some compensation picks for him because there's going to be some people out there if I'm the Minnesota Vikings do I want Tyler Hunley or Sam darnold I'll wait it's a lot it's a lot of you know I let's be clear it's a lot of guys that I think Huntley can can come in and do better than the guys that they got moving around on the roster so I think the Browns and they've done the way is the fact that he gets fullback love too they brought him back and got him some fullback game too so um we definitely gonna get a chance to see Nick Harris hars today it's a shame Luke wher went down with the broken ankle um that's just the unfortunate part about the the preseason and and to me I think as you go to 18 games I think the league should look at hey look what if we just I mean I know it sucks and I talked to tyus about this you know if you did get rid of the preseason games there's really not much you can really do um in terms of making sure that guys can get looks and that's what it's about the young guys getting looks you gonna see a bunch of young guys getting looks today um and it's just about figuring out whether or not these guys are good to go so it's kind of difficult to take that away from him um but at the end of the day it is kind of difficult and sad to see guys get injured in games where at the end of the day don't really too mean Too Much but DTR has a chance to to to stamp his ticket I think he got a chance in this game uh to wrap up the the third quarterback spot I do believe they will take three quarterbacks um and I'm interested in seeing guys uh like Mike Woods to see if they can get get get things going I want to see some of the young receivers and on defense I want to see some pass rush I want it I want some pass rush I want some ability to see if you guys is getting after the quarterback man uh last week it was pedestrian I know they weren running much I wasn't I know they weren't trying to show much but last week it was a
