groupies now do you have people that's on the team um you know are you are you getting text messages now what's happening what your what's your new lifestyle uh first and foremost thank you I think the biggest change and you know since the recent success is that when I go to a fast food restaurant I get the extra sauce without paying the 50 Cent and I'm able to get extra napkins on the dollar man so you know the more views on the ultimate 216 uh podcast man has really awarded me more barbecue sauce for the nuggets and more napkins for the cleanup you know I couldn't be more thankful um for the good people that that has recognized what's going on but in all seriousness though man like uh you already know like I struggle podcasting I struggle with all of that but yet I'm not I'm not a quitter and I'm not afraid so I just keep putting in the Reps and you know just asking God to let me put my best foot forward and just put put out quality content that I hope people enjoy Hey listen out what does the hidden meaning mean in this signing because I know something something between you know it's it's not important or if it's real important we need you guys to come up and put your detective glasses on and what like like in Martin what is your role what is Mike rael's role do you got a job Tommy Tommy do you have a job I'mma ask Earl to Pearl what exactly besides the consultant stuff is his real job we'll get to that and Earl we got another we got another Watson hater we we found another one was on today on the same Airwaves that we call home on the radio side 923 def fan some guy just oh my goodness we're going to start keep putting you guys out haters everywhere and I think that's why it's okay for us to talk about it because it it that's not speaking out of pocket when you work there yeah I could get that off we we I can talk about I can talk about stuff that go on at 92 we was G pirate it too we I was Earl told me chill chill big homie chill I was gonna take it right off the podcast whoop and here's the audio but we're not gonna do that we'll get into it uh but first let's get get right off into the situation there's a clip earlier of what Tyler Hunley means and I'm gonna let Earl de code this let's take a look at this really quick quick all right let's jump into this guys when when when you tyus we'll start with you when you saw the news that the Brown signed Tyler Huntley what was your reaction dang PJ Walker done oh God he already done is gone man it was like when when Mufasa died on Lion King man I it just a tear about rolled down my face a winning quarterback when I see when I seen the Browns get Tyler Hunley I I said they needed another quarterback for Camp I mean that's pretty much what that is Ty Tyler Hunley is a camp arm Earl talk to me like listen I wanted to get the real deal from from it was the MU it was the muasa reference for me the Mufasa dog like that's crazy I had to drink some water on that um now get your glasses on the detective hat is this a move that's just a camp arm like tyus is saying or is this something a little different what does this mean for you I think for me this mean as always Andrew brry is out here playing chess while everybody else is playing checkers G you alluded to this offseason being operation stockpile well Dam it that don't exclude the quarterback room so now this is the fourth quarterback that will be a part of the Cleveland Browns roster when they heads to training camp and I believe the only one um outside of well him and jamus to be the only two quarterbacks that's really going into Camp not coming off an injury you know desan Watson is dealing with the shoulder injury DTR had a season ended with an injury so those two dudes uh won't be as healthy you know when it when Camp starts and I think that it's necessary that you have healthy quarterbacks a healthy arm when you start training camp but how I see this being a chess move and not a Checkers move is once the final 53 man roster is constructed for every single team and those kind of like last minute tweaks to your team before you actually start the season takes place I think that's when you gonna see Andrew Barry get creative yet again and possibly be able to flip Huntley for or fourth or a fifth round draft pick you know quarterbacks are going to get hurt that's just the nature of the business and we see the importance of having a a quality backup quarterback and a quality third string quarterback on your team I think we that was on clear display display last season when 22% of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL suffer season and ending injuries and so you you want to get as many bodies as you can for camp with the hopes of being able to take one of those and create a future asset for your team and I'll tell you what shout out to King be Intel and a Lamar Jackson Clon for the scout team listen he know the plays I we ain't going to lie it don't it don't hurt the fact he in the division and he been out he been over there for a minute so that's he's been over there for and and you know what ear this is SE this the thing I know a lot of people for the Cleveland Browns ain't been used to it and operation stockpile is is looking like it's spilling over into the coaching ranks and everything in the players they learned something last year they learned the fact that look no longer can you just say if our starting quarterback gets injured the season's over how often did you hear that Earl we've been hearing that that being spoken for 10 12 years that's what he said ac across the league right start quarterback go down it's over with we said that here you know we we say that here we said as soon as the Waton got hurt it's over with and and and long comes Joe Flaco and when you when you're sitting here front row and center and you see how you started continue to win football games your team is resilient and on top of that the guy those guys ain't in the locker room quitting like you owe it to your team to have backups and be prepared at every different turn and I look at it like this listen you know Deshawn Watson is uh you know he's coming off an injury and like you said like you you you do need guys out there that are gonna be able to throw the football and here's the thing too it's a little thing called competition I love DTR but people don't give no positions like they don't get handed positions bro like you gonna have to do something like you got to be and I want my guys in practice n in the new offense all at once and I want guys competing out there and I think when you get a guy like Huntley he's going to compete J G compete absolutely because you can argue he's one of the better backup quarterbacks in the NFL and I think the best teams NFL like they create competition at every single position on the roster and that's what you want that's how you go that's how you go compete for a Super Bowl that's how you go win a Super Bowl like iron sharpens iron is one person better than another you already know that's one of my favorite quotes of my entire life like I really believe that and so the more competition that you can create in that quarterback room it's only going to help I think like you add a veteran like jamus Winston and then you add a dude who's been with a with a stable franchise for a while in the Baltimore Ravens to that quarterback room that helps DTR in so many different ways I feel like DeShawn Watson doesn't have to be his only Mentor he doesn't have to be his only teacher you bring other guys in here that's had experiences and things like that that can help like bring this kid along and then it's a win-win for everybody and like I said if you ultimately end up flipping Huntley you know before the regular season starts for a fourth or fifth round pick then that's another that's another feather in the cap of Andrew Barry now let me ask you this question go ahead go ahead let me ask you this question does that mean would you flip DTR for a fourth or fifth round pick or do you believe DT is the ER parent is he the is he the chip you not trying to move I ain't gonna say he the erir parent he better not be no damn ER parent erar we got a big problem around here but I I think that DTR is the long-term backup option to desan Watson and the thing is like he had a a very good preseason where he struggled you know when he got his his chance but it was something about that Denver game before he got hurt it seemed like something was starting to click for him and I think there a lot of talent there I just think it's a confidence thing and a repetition thing I think this is a smart football player a dude that's Uber athletic um you know he has a he has a zip on his arm he seems to be able to make the right reads and things like that I think he'll be okay over time I think that's a nice longterm investment right there hey I like this man G one day you should do a streamyard pull up some of the fans and let's chop it up one time I think it would uh make for good content listen hey Steve I like he sent me that too couple weeks ago I'm I'm really trying to I'm really trying to do hard for me to sit here and kind of like you know try to create the content that I want to create um on my own especially knowing that it's brand new that what I'm trying to bring the city to the city in my opinion I don't think anybody el tried to do before and so to be a to be doing it on a network that's a a sports network it can be hit or miss right but I believe in myself believe in the product and I believe in the content and I think that the most exciting part has been watching it just organically grow and develop into what it is you know the last two episodes I've noticed I felt more comfortable doing them I've had some pretty dope guest on the last couple episodes as well and so just the repetition you know Lil Wayne did a a video uh some years ago and I always go back to it you know repetition is the father of learning and so as as long as I just keep in to work man and just keep making the attempt to get better it'll all work itself out uh this week's episode will be a pre-recorded episode I won't be going live but my homeboy former NFL receiver uh receiver Cecil schz is going to join me we're gonna have a real life conversation about you know G Cil falls into that group of players that he didn't leave the NFL on his own terms you know it was a career- ending injury and he talks about the mental aspect of having a bounce back from that or even before he got to that point like we was like colinwood high school right down the street was the Glenville tar blers who dominated everybody was going to play division one while he was going to play D3 and just the mental hurdles and everything that came with that so uh the next episode should be great um you know you've taught me a lot in this game as I've been in this game you've been an authentic big brother Browns for listening to your boy G Bush you stockpiled quarterbacks now you stockpiling coaches I like the mindset right you look how many people they've brought in here that has a very strong mindset right you go get you got Vel you already got Jim Schwarz right then you you you get Tommy ree who used to be a a a offensive coordinator you go get dorsy right so now you got all these mixes of and thought processes and I like it because it it reminds me of what Smart Companies do Smart Companies always have think tanks and always have Consultants come in to give you some outside influence or outside thoughts that you may not have had and plus I just think it's a little bit of uh you know you scratch your scratch my back I scratch yours a couple of years ago Jim Schwarz was out of football guess what Mike Vel had him on as an Special Assistant right now it's an opportunity for him to give it back to him you know how it is the good old boy system but I don't mind it being a good old boy system if the boys is good now listen that's just my thought process on it um but Earl for you is this a higher where he's gonna be in the room he's gonna be in the trenches with these guys or is this a fluffy position where he might take a look at some film in Tennessee he might he might do the deeper Desa and we don't know what he actually does or do you think he roll his sleeves up for the Browns I think Mike Mike Vel being a Northeast Ohio kid just like you and I I think anything less than the expectation that he GNA roll the sleeves up and get his hands dirty um is is thinking less than uh the great Mike Vero and I say that the great Mike Vero for for me G this is how I look at this thing this is the rich getting richer when you talk about operation stockpile I know when you talked about this you had the vision of the brown stockpile and the roster the Browns are stockpiling the coaching staff the Browns are stockpiling the front office as well you get a dude who played for a championship organization his entire career somebody that won three Super Bowls and that was a uber contributor on both sides of the football might I add to the Patriots winning three of those Super Bowls this is a dude who who knows what winning looks like he knows what the grind looks like he know what it takes to reach the ultimate goal and he's a guy that grew up in Northeast Ohio the Cleveland Browns so for him to finally to have the stars align in his career for the position to come over for him to you know take any type of role with the Cleveland Browns and help his hometown team reach their overall goal I think that's a bonus I think that the whole consultant role because as it was explained to me he's a consultant to both Kevin stefansky and Andrew Barry I think the whole consultant thing is you know just a fancy ass title but we know Mike verel to be a mass man and a football coach somebody that is a teacher somebody that's a leader of men and somebody that seems to have good chemistry with Kevin stefansky we know the relationship that he has already with Jim Schwarz right and so you bring that dude into your building like you know we don't know and we probably never will know you know exactly what his role is but that whole Consulting title you could throw you could CAU it to win with all that crap like I know this dude is going to be in here getting his hands 30 and helping the Cleveland Browns reach their ultimate goal uh Shad Shadel says G for Vel uh Vel is going to help evaluate talent uh help with the defensive line help with scheming defensively and they did say that he has been at the combine with the Browns breaking down on that side I think it's it's super dope because Mike Rael is is one of those guys that's a that's a true he's a true student and has played the game up front and played it in in you know under bill bich so he's going to add a lot especially when you talk about breaking down film and getting ready for week to week um tribe of Judah 77s is the Browns a better team than the um um team they still marching to the slow secondary out there uh got carved up by accurate quarterbacks all their blowout losses was because the secondary could couldn't run I think you know I I'll say this um you know is is is Jim Schwarz was Jim Schwarz perfect last year no was the secondary perfect last year no uh Earl I think that when you look at uh some of the things that happened defensively um I think that's a that's a product of guys only been in the system one year um when we talked about uh de we both interviewed DeAnthony Bell we talked about how the fact that those guys said hey we haven't even put the whole thing in yet right I said what he's like yeah we ain't put it in yet um I I think when you look at that Earl I think that the defense is is stands to get better in your two well so when you got something of quality I think the best way to make sure that it stays quality is to continue to pour into to continue to nurture it right like that's like you have a garden that you taken care of and and and it's start to do its thing and because it's doing its thing you decided hey I ain't gonna put no more water on this Gard I think that that would be a poor mindset to have and how that relates to the Cleveland Browns defense this was probably the best statistical defense I've seen since 99 I know for a fact it's the best defense my eyes have seen since 1999 and when you go back and you assess that unit when you assess everything that went right everything that went wrong how this team how that defensive unit played at home versus how they played on a road Etc and then you start addressing that side of the ball that was the most dominant side of the ball between the between the two last year you want to add on to it and I think that the Browns did a great job of add some pieces to the defense and then with them going into year two of the system under Jim Schwarz with pretty much the same cast coming back right you know most of the defensive line is coming right is coming right back at it so like I think all of those things um it helps the overall cause you know you bring in a guy like Jordan Hicks another Hometown kid you know somebody that that was you know overly excited for the opportunity to play for his hometown team and a dude that has played for Jim Schwarz before to also like the rest of this team is going into year two in this defense Jordan Hicks know this defense and so he's going to help speed up the learning process for everybody else and then collectively they're gonna speed up the learning process for the people who might not be familiar with it or for the upcoming rookies that's going to come in and so like I think that side of the ball like you pretty much water a garden that's already healthy just to make sure that there those fruits labor continue to flourish you know listen you know I look at this and I I look at it as good not serviceable he said it's gonna be difficult to get anything to above average play from Deshawn Watson what are your thoughts all right so I really try not to beat people up for their opinion I think that everybody that is entitled to look at things the way that they want to but then I start asking myself okay well why do people view things the way that they do what makes them lean on this side versus that side etc for me personally I think a lot of how I approach thing I'm an internal Optimist by default right that's just n that's that's naturally how I'm built but then I'm also a Believer and so I tend to lean on the side of Faith right Faith and Hope is really all we got that's something your grandmother and my grandmother told me our whole life right I got faith that Des Watson is still that dude that can go out there and be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL I find it hard to believe that somebody that's 26 27 years old that has still shown to have all the physical tools of being a damn good quarterback won't be able to do so it's all between the ears for him we've said we've had so so many former athletes come on our shows and talk about that if Deshawn Watson is in the right M mind state that if his head space is cool then yeah that guy that we seen is in Houston he's still there I spoke to this point Saturday Deshawn Watson would be the first person to tell you I can play better that what the Cleveland Browns have seen from from me I know I'm capable of much better than what I put on display hell he even said in his own podcast the Cleveland Browns for 2024 is going to go as far as I go so he knows what's up he knows what's a stake he knows what's at hand and I think he's really really motivated to shut people the hell up I think he's motivated to prove him to to prove it to himself that he can still do this thing at a high level and so you know Mr ma if that's his opinion that's his opinion I'm pretty sure that Des Wat will be made aware of that interview and I just hope that he Channel his emotions and use that as another thing to you know be a positive like like like forcing him rehabing and and getting ready for the season but you know I'm saying all that because that's really how I feel but if if man somewhere in the bottom of my heart man I just really like hope he comes out here throws for like 3,500 yards 35 touchdowns and just shut people the hell up like I'm so tired of of the narrative that they don't believe that DeShaun Watson can still do it to where this wasn't this is the last time we seen Deshawn Watson play and we did the post game everybody in the city of Cleveland was falling in love with the SHA wat they were saying That's the dude that we paid for that's the dude that we was waiting to see Earl and so it's like I get it recency bias is real right it's been a long time since you seen that dude play but man don't give up on your quarterback and don't and and if you really really believe that if Desa Watson is healthy and available for the Cleveland Browns for a full season and that all you gonna get is above average Quarterback play then I think you you are drastically mistaken that here's the way I'm looking at it listen I I don't want him throw for 35 I want five I'm greedy I'm Petty I I really and listen I really want to go on internet be like 5,000 down I told you 76 touchdown listen I'm gonna be listen I'm gonna be obnoxious when it when it happens ca ca look I'm tired of it like I'm I'm sick of it and if I'm sick of it I know he gotta be sick of it but I just want him to know this like if people don't know this look bro it's time out I want miles Garrett to win every defensive player of the year I don't care nothing about TJ watt I want DeShaun Watson the ball out I don't care nothing about I want chub to win a rushing title listen man there are people that are in the media and I just want people to know there are people in the Cleveland media that actually like their team there's people in the Cleveland media out here that are actually fans of their team so you know and you can call me a fan if you want to uh at the end of the day I root for the Browns I don't root for nobody else I if you leave the Browns I wish you the best of Lu but I root for the Cleveland Browns at the end of the day and it's not a bad thing to say I'm a brown fan and I want my people to be do I want my Browns people to do good ain't no harm in saying that and a lot of people need to come to that that that recollection and just be like yo come to the come to the come to the Kool-Aid come on over to the Kool-Aid Earl yeah and and like I get it man I just want to see it on a more consistent basis for me personally that's what it is you know and I I I believe it's there like what I've seen from deshun Watson this offseason he's done a lot of interviews um I think you know he he's doing well on his podcast the man's body language to me is one of somebody that is healing I think that as more time is you know the more we get removed from the situation that he went to through three years ago I think that you see him becoming more just evolved as a person just more refreshed as a person more comfortable with who he is as a person what he went through was a lot to bounce back from and then to constantly have to deal with injury after injury and then to have to bounce back from that that that weighs a lot on your mental toll right that is a tough mental toe that you gotta pay and for him to be doing the things he's doing I'm big on sometimes you got to release this to catch that and so when you when when you see him speaking or when you hear the things that he's talking about you can see a dude that seems like he's getting his confidence back he's getting his Swagger back the best thing I like about that last episode it wasn't the whole sound bite that we played about you know the Browns having all the pieces to win the Super Bowl it was how he was sitting there breaking down film it was how he was sitting there talking about the rout Tre it was how he was sitting there talking about the offense and him having a understanding of this is what my job is this is what this player's job is ETC the Sha Watson showed you like and people didn't read between the lines they're like dude I'm a student of the game too that I know what's going on too and that Health be damn I'mma be out here balling my ass off leading my team to the to the to on a Super Bowl run well listen I'm G tell you what listen I thought this was barber shop
