Line Fire continues to close in on Big Bear forcing thousands to evacuate

REPORTER: FIREFIGHTERS HAVE BEEN WORKING HARD TO GET THE FIRE UNDER CONTROL DEALING WITH EXTREME HEAT. TODAY THEY HAD REALLY GUSTY WINDS PETITIONED -- PUSH TO NORTH AND EAST, BRINGING FIRE TO RUNNING SPRINGS. THIS PORTION OF 330 IS LINED WITH F FIRE-RETARDANT. THE TOWN HERE BUSINESSES LOOK PRETTY GOOD, THEY ARE COVERED IN PINK. BUT IF YOU LOOK AT LANDSCAPE, IT IS BLACKENED. A LOT OF GUARDRAILS WERE BURBURNED BY THE FIRE. WE DID LOSE A HOME TODAY, NEAR PINECONE DRIVE IN 330, TAKE A LISTEN TO WIND IN THIS VIDEO. FIREFIGHTERS MADE A STAND IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD BUT COULD NOT SAFE THAT HOME FROM BUBURNING DOWN, CAL-FIRE SAID NOT QUITE IN BIG BEAR VALLEY IT STILL HAS A DISTANCE, HOWEVER THAT AREA PART OF IT, IS UNDER MAND OVER EVACUATION ORDERS, OUT OF CAUTION, MAKING SURE PEOPLE GET OUT WHILE IT SAFE. THERE WILL BE ONE WAY OUT OF THAT AREA. LINE FIRE IS ABOUT 27 THOUSAND ACRES AND SIZE, 14% CONTAINED WE HEAR 65 THOUSAND STRUCTURES, INCLUDING HOMES ARE THREATENS, N 9 THOUSAND PEOPLE UNDER EVACUATION ORDERS, AND 56 THOUSAND YOU WERE EVACUATION WARNINGS. THE NORTH AND EAST SIDE OF THIS FIRE CONTINUE TO BURN STRONG ESTIMATE THAT RED FLAG WARNING, ENDED HERE AT 8:00, WE STILL HAVE LOW HUMIDITY, TRY VEN TEAING -- AND DRY VEGETATION, IT IS 64 DEGREES. THEY ARE WORKING TO CREATE CONTROL LINES AND TRYING TO USE AIRCRAFT IN MORNING, WE SPOKE WITH A FEW NEIGHBORS, CAL-FIRE. -- >> WE HEARD WAS A BANG, WE KNEW IT WAS A HOUSE. >> LEVELED IT. ANOTHER LITTLE BIT OF SAD NEWS, THE OLDEST CONTINUOUS ERVING FIRE LOOK OUT IN THE SAN BERNARDINO NATIONAL FOREST, KELLER PEAK FIRE LOOK OUT WAS BURNED IN THIS FIRE. A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE COMMENTING ABOUT HOW SAD THAT IS. TOWN IN LUN RETURNING STRINES -- IN RUNNING SPRINGS, THE STORES LOOK PRETTY GOOD. FIREFIGHTERS DEALING WITH ACTIVE FLAMES AND SET THEIR PLAN IN PLACE WHEN FIRE MOVES TOWARD BIG BEAR, THEY HAD BRIDGE FIRE EXPLODE TO THE WEST OF US. NEAR WRIGHTWOOD, THEY HAD TO TAKE RESOURCES FROM THIS FIRE AND MOVE THEM OVER THERE. AS THAT FIRE STARRED TO BURN TOWARD SKI RESORTS, POPULATED AREAS OVER THERE, FIREFIGHTERS ARE STRETCHED THIN.
