Watchalong - F1 - Italy Qualifying + Commentary

e e e e e e e e e e hello everyone welcome back to the watch along qual is up next and I cannot wait this is going to be a great great qualifying session with everybody going to be incredibly close on circuit as we've got many cars already out in the early stages of the session and many cars also having a few issues over the curbs immediately as we could see zy there yeah I mean it's first lap of q1 it's going to be a bit messy at the moment as Aon starts to set the pace the first driver AC cross L gly just behind him the Clair pushing hard for a scar he's purple in that middle sector and it would just be a banker lab there and you know he's getting a bit of a distance s stre from that car ahead but it shouldn't be affecting him too much and coming into parabolica it gets the car tipped in nicely Run It Wide on exit and come back and to avoid having longer track distance and that should be P1 is a 20.0 that's already faster than what we've seen in practice that is very good and it's about just over uh or just under half a tenth uh slower than caros s's first sector so although caros s seems to have messed up the rest of the lap uh they did get that first sector pretty good so maybe Carlos might be able to fight for Paul as our predictions were kind of L clar to be ahead uh in this on so maybe he's going to try and prove us wrong if they can keep it on track at the early stages but um that is llar setting the pace keeping the Ferrari fans happy at the home circuit Max stappen is going to cross the line now let's see what this man can do can they put themselves in a competitive position uh they're actually starting a lap so my bad there uh anyway uh that was a bit embarrassing uh they go across the line and they'll head to the first corner see if it's going to be tidy for them and it looks pretty good nothing going to be too special right now in the early stages um of qualifying 12 minutes still on the clock it is a shorter session of course compared to practice this is an 18-minute session to begin with all righty that is that's just stop and continuing but they are a little bit down on the other cars in the first sector just quickly uh get that there 266 right now so they've got a fair bit of time they've got about 2/10 to try and catch up to color SS who was purple in that first sector the rest of the sectors I'm not quite up to date with uh Lando Norris had a pretty good first sector but more close to L cla's sector time compared to the color s sector time which is almost a four dead although he does go purple in the middle sector does Lando Norris and the stappen will finish that lap first Perez to P four behind the hes so 1 second off llar right there 3/10 off of Magnuson or 2 and a half T off of Magnuson which isn't ideal the stappen goes to P2 1 and A2 t0 away and Norris what's it going to be for the Brit as they go around the final corner parabol it's going to be a current provisional pole a 19.9 by another 1 and 1/21 so that's 310 to Max with Sten right there that Mclaren has really switched it on right now yeah I mean in practice they looked decent not the best car but they did look decent and now they're starting to turn it up a little bit and we're just looking at a replay of Oscar P to turn one breaking late as ever locks the front left and goes front right and goes for the gravel track and those braks oh fair you see that they're very hot so they're really pushing the limit on the brakes here and we have seen sometimes in pit stops they can go on fire but that just looks like the brakes have really overhead and they're done for so we have to really kill that down before he gets back to the pitch just so there's no fire and no extra damage yeah McLaren were kind of been thought to at the start of this season have the advantage under breaking maybe do some dodgy stuff with the breakes uh they have kind of made adjustments I think to keep it legal but they' still been very good we're kind of thinking that that's probably why uh they were so good on like Tire degradation throughout the um throughout the live stream uh throughout the season sorry throughout the start of the season uh but they kind of still maintain that despite making those changes and maybe what we just saw there with the brakes smoking it's kind of showing how they're making those brakes work they're being really hot but they're managing them right and when the car goes slower you can see it goes absolutely crazy I don't quite know we just had piastri uh they had that lap time deleted um which wasn't really competitive anyway so it doesn't matter too much at all um but currently still as we stand we've got actually Alon up to P5 which is great from them colapinto to p8 uh and not too far away from their teammates so that's pretty good job from them right now as Oscar piastri is going to is that finish or start La finish a lap to P4 after I think was that two yeah an extra lap uh on the current time right there yeah P doing well on that all set of tires and obviously had to very very big issues with um you know uh his tires because he locked him up and he could have had a fast up potentially so yeah he's doing well he's doing well P considering that and I think if he can just you know not have that mistake on the first lap he can be nearest teamate if not beating him because I'm sure I think Lando was reporting uh just about issues that ver stappen was having as well ler on in practice so I think everyone's still struggling at this moment and until we get to Q3 we won't really know who's on top mhm yeah for sure um we'll find out very soon time will tell but currently uh we've got both Ferraris out again on the same Tire uh we also have that with okon and gazley uh so they're looking to uh try and set a faster time on a scrub set will the alpines be able to do that currently gazley and Doon now are both in that drop zone Russell puts their time in to p four uh 4 t0 away though from Norris Hamilton 5 and 1 half T away from Norris so yeah those McLaren have really kind of thrown something in the mix there myself and zingy I don't think we predicted any McLaren to be in the top three pursu earlier on in the chat did predict Norris to be P2 not P1 but they predicted all of us have predicted Mercedes to be on Pole Position regardless and right now it doesn't look like that's going to happen uh they've still got more time to go but um yeah q1 still even though it's not maximum attack uh it's still a pretty good reference point to who's going to look at getting pole later on in the session yeah we just see car Signs Now doing our lap as first one was a bit rubbage three and a half seconds off I don't think that's really representable of where he is purple in the first sector actually so the Ferrari does seem to have a lot of pace and granted he did have a bit s into one but it looks so he's still pushing on well coming into a scari now it looks so he's done that very nicely 710 up on Bas which will put him P3 just ahead of stappen maybe P4 within those Mercedes regions so he's pushing well at the moment the second sector wasn't as good coming into parabolic and now you can just see the way the car goes in nicely running away the exit and again you want to minimize that track distance and he should be out of the Drop Zone oh Russ got radio tires felt nowhere sliding massively so really strugg maybe is that the new track surface possibly I assume that would be on either on exit or it would be in the lmos uh or even a scari to be honest most other Corners um well actually there's two chin then there is parabolica which you could see some sliding uh as we actually have had quite a few people sliding uh throughout that corner over the weekend uh not to mention a certain name but um yeah some more than others will they be able to get that sorted in the time that they they've got they can possibly make a few adjustments Williams currently waiting to go out on track colapinto on in the drop zone at the moment for their first session which isn't exactly what they want but um they're still very close they're actually Incredibly Close two thousands of a second away from Ricardo so they don't need much to actually get another position and be out of the Drop Zone it wouldn't be safe there's still plenty of time to get laps in and push further down the unfortunately zy Perez is in the drop zone at the moment and uh you know we saw a change last time around in the Netherlands but they can't go back again surely yeah what imagine not I I didn't hear I did see him about getting driving courses which was a bit ironic considering he is an F1 driver but maybe it was something much different to what we expect and they worked for Zan he he done very well he wasn't he was a bit far off Max yes but he was still in the points kind of there obviously he can improve a little bit but I think I think yeah you know I don't know what's happened this weekend I know the red isn't the fastest again it was it looks McLaren and Ferrari are up there and the Mercedes will be challenging but it's a bit confusing to see that perz again after a good weekend just starts flopping once again yeah it's not it's not what you want to see especially after making that kind of turnaround all of a sudden we've got albon out on track right now on Fresh tires Perez is also on their way uh to try and set another lap fairly early on so I think what they've realized you know what um this isn't safe our car should be competitive enough let's just get a lap in and try and not not like Bank on slipstream but avoid it uh and try and get that lap in I don't know the top times if they've had any slip streaming at all maybe they'll try and release for stappen out in a few moments to uh get that timing right so Perez can have a bit of an assist uh we'll see if that changes things uh but they might want to go you know what we'll go for a clean lap now and then you can go again and maybe try and get a slipstream from another car and at least you've got two runs and two chances of catching up once again maybe completely wling for this one but we have got albon going through that second sector will maybe get a very little toe from Perez no Perez is going way too slow for that to be effective at all um but albon's going through the third sector now or into the third sector now and forari let's see what time they can do currently green PB in the first sector in the middle sector they haven't pbd so that's not exactly ideal but they're not too far away uh from the top Runners uh to be honest in that first sector so they should be pretty quick here yeah coming for the last Corner once again you say he's not got a good middle sector but hopefully for his sake Alor and that Williams nearly upgraded he goes eight fast at the head of Fernando Alonzo how many T is that of only six and a half which might not sound like a lot but from a track around one Z when you're on that FR so much you really need every millisecond you can I mean call Pinto knows that he's 62 milliseconds off Ricardo and he could be in a Q2 in his first appearance if he can get the lap hooked up yeah for sure and uh Williams not having as good of a situation uh with string speed as as before this is Oscar piastri I think being investigated as Oscar has almost taken out matx of stappen as you can see from um Zing's or here from Zing's reaction right there it was pretty close so Oscar not only having issues in fp3 uh with having on track arguments but continues that now with different drivers uh so having a little bit a bad weekend to be honest right now is the other McLaren driver Lando Norr is currently learning Pole where pastri is p7 and they've got 5 and 1 half T over uh to try and catch right now Perez is going to cross the line I think to finish their lap or if they already set the lap no they've got this lap to go only pbd in the middle sector not in the first sector their first sector was horrendous absolutely horrendous so they must be starting again now surely uh I don't quite know here we go across the line and Perez will go to P9 so they've improved massively in that last sector but their first sector um was not great it was almost 310 off I think Here Comes Coen so for the first sector touching the gravel just a little bit into lesel one become now looks so he's pushing very hard nearly up against the gravel he really wants to improve himself touching the grass on the way in and that's him in the gra oh oh my goodness oh he nearly nearly at the second L again we've seen that again losing the back end thankfully it didn't go off into the wall or anything like that he is absolutely fine but he was really pushing the limits and there goes Kev Magnus losing the back end in a scar so everyone's pushing so hard to find those fine margins but is it the case now with people making mistakes that you just need to get a clean lap in yeah it's uh pretty mental uh usually we would see every everybody start bunching up at the back and we are seeing people Bunch up at the back what is that going on right there there's a car off in the final Corner which is Magnuson and I think everybody's laps might be finished that might be it I think Ricardo kapino sonoda B show might be out if they all have to back off their lap before it's even begun know it says green five magon should be F he's coming into the pets now that was Absolut horrible from mag and he lost the back end and then went off I don't know if he was going off to make sure people didn't hit him or what but he just turn stroll 15th and Ricardo's improving coming for the last few quarters in a moment of time will stroll be eliminated to q1 he can't really get another lap in unless he's saved the battery there soda up to 15th knocking stroll out Ricardo is going to cross the line in just a moment's time and it looks as though he's improved to 15th P also coming through the last corner now and for stopping purple in the middle sector that is going to be a mixup at the top and also at the bottom I think it might be Cod out as so they won't be able to set another lap I'm uh assuming the stappen across the line what's it going to be for them as they slowed down they didn't need to bother pushing the car any further unless they had an issue it's interesting you don't usually see that do you um slowing down like that uh unless they've decided you know what we're absolutely fine uh but yeah actually both SAS were improving but they didn't improve position wise uh in the end so that's going to be that done I don't think anybody else is setting laps maybe the alpines but they don't need to risk anything so they'll back off on that one that I think is the confirmation sonoda stroll colapinto botas and Z right there magnuson's lap time was deleted I don't know why they needed to tell us that uh but yeah that is uh that one done and nor tops the times with L cler then piastri so the Ferraris were up there as we thought but the Mercedes not so much right now I am really interested to see what fappen can do in Q2 and q1 cuz they were looking pretty quick right there yeah interesting q1 we' seen a lot of mistakes from those drivers and um yeah those mistakes cost people a lot of time and a lot of possession I think Mag is very lucky to make it through to Q2 with his ises yeah for sure it's uh not an easy situation but also not an easy situation is uh colapinto un having issues and I think if they maybe got their lap together they would have had a good chance of getting into Q2 uh but just getting a little bit too loose uh and it didn't quite work out in the end they would only needed what was that just a tenth just over a tenth to get in uh to the session uh they were a fair few tents off their teammate about 510 half a second more or less off of Alex album which isn't great but considering they had their issues uh and they didn't get that final run in obviously it's all relative but they could have possibly gone faster now they gave it a good shot they didn't crush the car just it was very very close I'm sure they were giving the mechanics a very very uh hard time on the heart uh but yeah that's an interesting one we've got a very late call right there as hulkenberg's lap time has been deleted um unless that wasn't earlier lap time right now that I haven't seen and he stays in p13 uh I I think that'll be fine it looks like it start of uh Q2 will be delayed as the stewards are investigating in uh instant involving Hamilton failing to follow race director uh maximum Delta instructions uh I don't actually know why Q2 will be delayed I thought it was from what I was reading but it will be something different um um we'll see if we can get confirmation on that but that's a an interesting situation I don't know why that delay is there everyone just a bit annoyed people were complaining left right in center about people blocking and people complaining about gravel yeah Q2 will be delad I think it will probably be gravel cuz kinter went off at the lesmo again second turn seven seems to be where everybody is kind of sending it a little bit too hard so that will be why um and they'll just sweep up the circuit quickly I'm sure it won't take them too much longer probably a minute or two um and then we'll be going again but uh yeah that that's an interesting one uh har seemed to be very lucky uh to stay in the the session right there after their issues that they've just had at the very end Alpine get through as well which is uh pretty good for them um that is an interesting situation there for Magnuson um and I'm just wondering were they having more issues from what they had earlier on in fp3 or was it something a little bit different or maybe even tactical who was that uh Kevin Magnuson they uh seem to have a very very weird moment of slowing down it was a little bit strange uh I don't know why uh they were slowing down to the level they did they must have had a bit of a mistake and then just kind of gave up and then moved out the way but um was it I don't know a tactical slowdown to try and get other cars to back off their laps and help them stay in the session uh I I don't know or was it an issue a continuation of an issue that they had before um from fp3 of course cuz they had um some sort of problem uh making the car sound very very weird uh previously um anyway that's absolutely fine we'll hopefully get confirmation on when the session will start or it will just start at some point uh in a bit but looking at the order right now we've had of course uh Z and botas be um knocked out of q1 it was looking pretty good from fp1 we almost saw or we we're hoping to see the salvas be a little bit higher uh around this circuit but unfortunately it doesn't really seem like it's going to be that way uh even for tomorrow as well so they lock out the back row of the grid uh and then we've got colapinto who obviously is trying to gain that experience they had their issues that's p8 stroll didn't quite get to see what happened to them um so that's an interesting situation whereas Alonzo's gone P10 so 710 off the pole time right there for Alonzo but 1.1 so 410 off their teammate is Lan stroll and then sonoda getting knocked out by Ricardo sonoda staying at RB next season Ricardo not confirmed uh and it might not be the case but they've still out qualified their teammate uh by a small margin uh that should be said yeah I mean it's going to be a very interesting Q to we seen um was it car signs who had a SL stream off some car and he gained a bit of time there so Q2 and Q3 is going to be a battle for track position isn't it I don't think q1's as they don't prioritize it as much because I think the top teams know that they'll get through without a help of that sream but but of course um Q2 and Q3 are much more competitive therefore uh yeah they'll definitely be fing for that set stre through the whole session really to see if they can um get anywhere else anywhere higher than what they usually would be yeah for sure they will uh that will be especially important for basically every team that's outside of the top 10 on your screen right now um but also albon uh not to say that they're an outsider but they aren't within the Realms of the top four teams currently um of course McLaren Ferrari Mercedes and redball will being very very quick perz has managed to find that time to get to P9 but as you said Zing it's going to be a lot more difficult in the uh Q2 section of the qualifying session uh will they have that luxury only P9 uh two more positions further down and they will be knocked out that being said I say only P9 uh if they out qualified albor that's kind of like where you'd expect them to be as a minimum so they aren't actually that far away at all half a tenth away from albor in the end albon's only half a tenth away from Hamilton which is crazy again I'm getting excited over things that are really too early on in the session and actually Hamilton is 2/10 away from the stappen uh and then everybody else is kind of closer to together up from but still uh it is uh pretty impressive to see right there uh from Alex albon seems to be despite uh maybe not being as quick as they were last year compared to everyone else in a straight line they could have a pretty good weekend uh right here uh in in Monza now Alonzo will they be able to make it into Q3 zingy do you think Aston Martin will have it no be definitely difficult because you've got so many Midfield cards which are much more competitive as a session most start with in the next two minutes thankfully mhm but yeah the you can't really tell who's going to get in Q3 maybe apart from the obvious six but I mean can you really discount anyone from this session we seen Alor being quick the hes might pull something out of somewhere especially niik hulkenberg we've seen that season he's been incredible under pressure and you've got all those guys in the Midfield uh who will be looking to hopefully for themselves get into that cure free spot and maybe get points these are this is definitely one of the tracks that you can you can improve on massively compared to where you should be which I've said before but these teams need to take opportunities especially teams like Alpine and your Williams who struggled at the start of the season they need you know really focus up and hopefully um you know try and get better possessions yeah for sure and if you look at opportunities not only today but opportunities tomorrow safety cars around this circuit could be very possible the walls aren't exactly too far away um but it will be not only closer overtaking should this year uh be a lot more interesting a lot easier um compared to previous years and also previous tracks so I reckon a safety car chance is pretty high strategy can be really called into this cars that are maybe not inside the top 10 can come back into the top 10 um will they be able to beat the Giants right now uh who seem to just be on another level at the moment uh we will find out uh eventually of course but still regardless of the top four teams that could break away there is a really competitive grid further behind uh who will be battling for the latter end of points um if it goes to a kind of kind of normal race situation uh if if that's fair to say where you get a split uh between the pack uh but yeah we'll see we'll see how that goes in a few moments time we get everything back on screen again pit Lane is open and we're good to go for qualifying Hamilton's not going to be going out immediately as their car is just being set up but the two Ferraris they are on away try get some screen team I think maybe for the sponsors at their homegrown pre I mean these guys just they need to do well this track it's the one of the biggest uh F1 team in the world on one of the biggest tracks in the world and it's their home track as well so they really need to perform here and I don't think they're taking any chances this weekend they have to just get through a Q3 get a good qualifying result and make their fans happy I think if they got a Podium like they did in Zam that would be good but obviously 4y these guys expect a win from these guys they are Die Hard fans and they would not want anything else from the team but do do we think that Ferrari is going to be up there I'm starting to question it really um I think they they can be up there but I think if piastri can get a clean lap in then McLaren are probably going to look at the front row now looking at it uh I reckon uh we'll see but according to the Dutch Grand Prix um color science didn't actually make it uh to Q two uh no q no Q3 there you go uh managed I went so slow and I still managed to mess that one up there didn't make it to Q3 unfortunately uh however both M uh Ferraris had phenomenal race Pace col start to think it was P six in the end L CL of course getting that Podium uh which which was really really good from them so the Ferraris can still um have a pretty good race situation going on they also performed really well here around this pyic last season fighting up the front of course for the podium so I reckon they have good data from that maybe compared to McLaren uh Perez and ven would have good data if that was the case as well uh but yeah I don't know uh we'll see how this goes and Moment of Truth pretty much now everybody's got to start really turning it up I think you've got to put it to the maximum now in in Q2 at Monza you've got to put everything on the table and the Ferrari start their lapse with color science taking the lead yeah into turn one and two it's just very clean yeah you see you need to turn it up Philly and that's what these guys are going to be doing you've got Alon Alonzo Ricardo the two hes the two alpines those guys are all going to be fighting for Q3 and if someone like Perez or like Pi has a poor lineup which we did see in q1 they could be out just because of how small the the field spread is especially this year and especially around the track around Monza when you're just flat out the whole time car signs coming through the second Lio there now touching the gravel these guys on the limit as pair you may get a little bit of s from that car head and coming into a scari he will be purple of course as he is the first car to set a lap coming for AAR now it looked awfully safe there maybe maybe he is just taking it a bit easy charl does get the fastest middle sector I think for st's also starting a lap but yes um it's just um Banker laps at the moment they're not going to be rushing anything there's no reason to rush anything they've got well if they use one set they they have like two extra sets for another session and then after they get into Q3 they get an extra ST as well uh I can't quite remember what the situation will be but it depends on how many tires they've used throughout the uh throughout the weekend but that was 2/10 down in the first sector uh from lir compared to their teammate but they managed to just absolutely cook in the rest of the uh of the lap hulkenberg held fastest first sector for a while Norris has taken that away we've got Magnuson Ricardo okon gazley setting their laps in that order then we've got hulkenberg now putting it into P3 as they set a faster lap time than both of the Ferraris right there in the first sector but the rest of the the circuit just didn't quite have it Perez to P3 getting their lap time in nice and early one tenth away from the Ferraris these are all old lap old tires right now except from that is Norris and piastri who are really not taking any chances butapen also on a fresh set of tires and they go 410 ahead of the rest we've got Norris and piastri who are expected to take the lead as piastri does so by just over a half second Norris across the line what's it going to be for this man it will be a whole position right now with a 0.081 seconds at the moment um I am just going to quickly uh go do something we're just going to get some kind of sync uh situations sorted and then we'll be back in a few moments time I do apologize e e all right we're back sorry for the delay we're all good to go we are all uh sorted technical difficulties are uh no longer hopefully we've got Alon to come across the line what's it going to be for the tie driver p8 at the moment not going to be wanting that to be their first lap of the uh the session right now uh is that the first lap I think it's their first lap of the session we've got both Mercedes who haven't set lap times either as well as Alonzo who is on their way to currently try and set a lap time as well uh the Mercedes looking super quick and currently predicted as pole position for all of our guesses Min zing in purum in chat earlier on it's going to be a P4 not too bad then Here Comes Alonso that's going to be a P10 for now and then Hamilton goes across the line and that is going to be a provisional pole nice one uh maybe our predictions aren't so uh bad right there uh mine and Zing's poll sitter right now I think is Hamilton if I'm correct in saying whereas PR went for Russell so uh Russell not looking as quick Hamilton did go cross the line so that is actually the top um I say that actually know llar and Saints were on used soft tires if I remember saying that for stappen uh piastri and Norris all on Fresh tires so compared to the rest of the cars behind uh actually relatively quite on Pace right there and Russell's kind of Fairly on Pace as well considering they're all fresh tires but the feres have got a lot more to come um I reckon with the the situation with the um tire situation going to be changing things up oh s's on a flying lap right now I'm assuming this is a fresh set now that he's only 300s off Hamilton in the middle sector so he has a really pushing the car here he could get p position provisionally here in Q2 if he just gets parabol right just breaking now very nicely indeed Apex lovely one8 and once again obviously taking it back to the inside to minimize that track distance and for Ferrari no o he lost a 10 for the last sector a scar didn't look too bad and there is parabolica so I don't know why that but CLA only s okay interesting so not able to improve position wise they stay where they are uh but 0.130 is the gap to Russell so they close the gap um Perez is still 410 away from the CLA um but I think their tires might have been old as well so 've got some more to come right now so maybe the fries weren't as quick as we were expecting still pretty quick uh but they really need to put the lap together uh to be able to do uh something about it yes yes yes yes it is Q2 um I apologize I'm getting excited again a little bit too early um but we'll see uh how it goes in in a few moments time um those Ferraris are going to be really really wanting to get up to the top um Hamilton currently has that though once again though the Ferraris are out on their own on circuit they've set their laps um so or yeah they've set their laps haven't they uh but they are on their own right now so they're really trying to play it incredibly safe in Q2 but 5 minutes on the clock are they now going to go back in and get ready to go for one final run that being said they've now used that fresh set tire so will they be looking to use another fresh set or are they going to keep the tires on and look for maybe a slipstream run that everyone will be going for well I think Carlo science is safe no questions about it but charlot Clair three turns off I wouldn't be so sure that he's through into Q3 just yet although you you got Alor you've got hulkenberg who are two very incredibly click drivers and you've got magn Magnus as well who can also be challenging and of course you can't disc Fernando Alonzo M and I mean now that I look at it like any one of these drivers from like 7th to 15th could be knocked out not just because of how close is but because how talented they all are so it's going to be very very tight both Red Bulls coming out par first for STA and second I think that's Daniel Ricardo also just coming out the pit Lane there is so he'll be trying to get out the drops on P5 at the moment for real not doing too well although qualifying his teammate he would want to get up there a little bit more and is is it still their home race technically or no uh what for racing Bulls yes it is yes they are still an Italian based uh Team so it is the home event uh right now so they're going to hope for uh uh some some good results I think they aim for Rima really to try and uh get a bit more fans away from the Ferrari side cuz Ferrari just so dominant around this circuit but you can't really take away from Ferrari wherever you go uh currently the top 11 all within 1 second of the pole time of Hamilton so that can really change um depending on how things are going we've got both alpines who are going to be the ones to set the pace right now and gazley is looking to get a slipstream off Aon I'm wondering if we're maybe going to get a bit of a mention uh in the post qualifying uh briefing about that maybe they'll say you GLE was preferred in the qualifying session so they dropped him back unless are they going slowly yeah they're all they're all kind of doing a warmup lap and then going again it looks like so they're all trying to get that uh perfect opportunity but Magnuson just goes straight through uh and is looking to try and set the pace at the moment so mson will be the first one to set uh another lap time in the session now um what was I going to say the hes they are very very quick in that first sector it's just the second and third sector uh where they really can't seem to bring it together uh will they be able to do that this time once again hulkenberg going purple in the first sector just absolutely smashing it sha piastri has gone set a pretty close lap time as well but that first sector from the uh the Ferrari engine H car is rapid right now uh Magnus not so much quite far off but that middle sector is going to kill the kill the car unfortunately we'll see what they can do as they are quite a way off in that middle sector still pbd um but have they pushed a little bit too early cuz they're not going to be getting slipstream I was saying I was going to say if they get a slipstream they might get themselves quite far up uh and just kind of make up for that middle sector but they won't and it is just going to be pure pace for the hes yeah looks though hogenberg is coming for the last Corner Magnuson didn't really have a good lap on the board there but Nico where is he going to end up he's he's had a really good first set oh my goodness what has happened there terrible last sector 26.9 over Alor just setting a 29 oh no that's 295 uh 29 265 right there so yeah uh what that 410 off right there off the pace from hulkenberg I mean he's only a couple hundreds off Perez who doesn't prove but not position wise he's still p8 two 10 up and on hulkenberg is for STA and go second fastest he should be for Q3 no bother Ricardo only 11th and he won't be able to make it back around so that's Daniel Ricardo out of qualifying alon's on the lap now he really needs to push the limit like he was in that first lap he needs to find a tiny bit more time and he can be through here coming through the middle sector split here we go he's only two1 off Hamilton he's two and a half T off he's really pushing the car you can see it's squiggling around a little bit on entry and coming into parabula we've seen how slow people have been through this weekend in parabolica and it may be a slip stream thing it may just be the tires overheating but Alon coming through now Parabola bit wide on Entry he keeps it running on exit and he's going to try and come up to the line now and let's see what happens for William drivers it's going to be P9 ahead of hulkenberg just behind Perez and that might give him the safety he needs Al pushing it to the absolute limit right there but only P9 for the minute we get Alonzo who will not make it to Q3 hulkenberg has set their lap of course so it might be Ricardo as well and Magnus only the two alpines can push out Alex Alon but no okon will not get through and gazley will not get through that is qualifying already over wow the that was one of the most relaxed q2's that I've ever seen um in Monza that was absolutely crazy everybody's done just like that uh the back end of the GD have all set their laps and all the top drivers can basically just back off um yeah Alpine not having the best of times Alonzo of course as well just missing out that is the tiny margin right there from Ni hulkenberg hulkenberg is going to be having to count their lucky stars right there uh but Ricardo yeah not having the the time that they quite wanted but considering their teammate was just knocked out of q1 uh they've managed to bring that car a little bit further up which is actually a pretty good effort right there yeah on were just missing out as you said but Alex Alor with a great lap just by perz ahead of hulkenberg but don't get it twisted hulkenberg like sector wasn't that good but overall it was still good enough to get into Q3 so I did say that hulkenberg definitely has the facilities to get himself up into that final shootout and he's done so Perez is quite lucky as well that a lot more people didn't improve otherwise he would have been in big trouble so it's it's good to see peris and Q3 but he needs to pick up realistically doesn't he yeah for sure it's uh it's it's not ideal but right now it's just got to try and focus on Q3 uh and hope that it's all good with the gaps right there basically the top 12 were incredibly close but after that I don't know if it was mistakes or if it was just not having the pace but that is that done for M gazy and Aon they just didn't have uh any any more it looked like to to catch up to the Front Runners so yeah uh the ason not looking too slow at all Ricardo giving it a good shot I do apologize for slandering Alex alon's lap right there I said it was only P9 position wise but they actually did a very good uh lap time as I look at the screen uh right now so yeah they had just under uh a tenth to hulkenberg which is a nice little bit of a safety margin right there um but looking at the rest of the grid 2/10 away from Laris Perez and then yeah everything else is just incredibly close so I don't know I still don't know who's going to get Pole right here it could be uh mixing up very very late on it just matters on who gets the lap done who manages to not run over the gravel on the exit of turn seven which will probably be kicked up um as Q3 will start at 4:52 so that is 3:52 uh British time yeah C3 you say going to be very intense we don't know there's so fine margins between all the drivers and we don't know we've got McLaren we've got Red Bull who have seemly got back into it we've also got Mercedes who seem to got back into it and Ferrari who have looked competitive all weekend so anyone of the top eight top seven top eight could really be on PO position but you just need to hook the lap up and maybe if you get a lucky slipstream off of some car like Alon or hulkenberg you could maybe sneak p position out of nowhere you could do so you could definitely do so and uh yeah uh it's it's going to be a difficult one we're going to take a 60c break we'll be back in a few moments uh we will also have to make sure that all our technical difficulties are kind cated for uh when we get to Q3 so we'll be back in a few moments time we'll see you then e e all right we'll be back for a few moments just while we wait for the session to start once again and then we will need to go for some more uh uh technical difficulty uh situation uh pauses uh I'm all over the place on the speech right there but it's going to be uh inevitable that we'll have a few issues right there we've got uh Q2 involving car uh 20 investigated after the session for maximum Delta time um violations again it just seems to be that that happens quite a lot to be honest we saw that happen uh back in zanville by quite a few drivers we've already seen it happened quite a few times uh today so far uh but yeah we'll see uh in about a minute's time uh the session will be started um and then we'll be good to go uh for qualifying once again Hamilton obviously setting that pace earlier on will they be able to continue uh with this good Pace Mercedes will Russ be able to get a lap together um and put in some good times to kind of you know your teammate is your benchmark you need to be right up there with them and follow them along so yeah will that be the case we don't quite know but zingy although we've already said our predictions for kie do you think you've got any doubts now let me see mys quickly here I would probably go your prediction instead we got very similar ones but I would change Russ P2 and the CL P3 to the CL being P2 but then you get Carlos SS who's also still really quick I don't I don't know it could go anywhere this is what you want though you don't want to be able to protect qualifying easily can it's it's really fun when it's all mixed up yeah yeah it's it's fun there's a lot of anticipation we don't quite know what's going to happen uh my predictions were Hamilton lir and Russell considering in what we've just seen uh in Q2 I now want to kind of change it to Hamilton Thea Norris I can't I can't change it it is what it is um and then yeah we'll see uh what it lives up to in a few moments time of course um and as we get the session started and we'll just double check uh what the uh timing is like and uh we'll be back in about 60 seconds uh after we've sorted out a few issues see you in the SEC I e e all righty we're back for Q3 for good now let's get this session underway I cannot wait this is the moment that we've all been waiting for piastri uh is that them out on uh circuit first I need to make sure I get all the graphics up so I can actually see um no it's uh who is first right now we've got used tires from Perez albon and hulkenberg but the rest of the pack are all on Fresh tires that is the difference um between the rest of the field they had a bit more safety they're able to get those kind of fast times in without using as much as many tires unless I'm just completely chatting I don't quite know the details uh right now but piastri goes and sets uh a good a first sector but that's immediately beaten by Norris who then goes purple so right now these are the ones to watch when we go across the line uh for the first few moments we've got albon setting the pace a 20.8 70 as they did a very good last sector Hamilton uh is starting a a lap I that a bit mixed up we've got SS going purple in the midd first sector though yeah Oscar py coming toar on Entry touching the grass the out side losing the car a lot but thankfully for him this is a used higher run and he doesn't need to worry too much about anything coming through the last few Corners he looks uninterrupted a bit shaky on exit the rear down four is not really planted to the ground and up to the line it will be pulled it's on 119 four is that quick it doesn't seem bad it looks pretty quick but it's immediately beaten another 194 so it must be pretty quick yeah L just beaten it by a couple hundred SS wow SS is 310 behind him for snapping he's boy 610 behind he's playing Perez what 100 away from his teamate right there L clar is 3 th000 away from SS seems like the teammates are all very close to each other but they're just not close to the other teams we're yet to see the Mercedes come across the line we will get George Russell followed by Hamilton George Russell crosses the line line now to get a 1 minute uh 19.56% that was a a weird one I think you know what I'm trying to say Z I honestly wasn't there I was just I was just very confused by all these apps the fact that the red builds are 6 t0 off you'd expect it more from Perez than you would for staing but unless for St made a mistake on his lap but it looked as though perz gained fre tense in the last sector so yeah he must have made some sort mistake and that would put him up probably P5 Max being fif something you'd never really see mhm yeah he's complaining about grip as well on the tires so he's not very happy in that car at the moment and Pa really shows that making the mistake maybe because of the grip or maybe just a drive error who knows we unless we get a replay we won't be able to see we can see that Lando Norris G 61 in the last sector so yeah definitely a bit of an UPS in the last sector and now it's all done to this one last lap that you will be setting to see who gets P possession yeah everyone going into the pit Lane now and they're not going to be going again um until the final few moments where everything is going to get incredibly um tight now would you not want to go out soon because the circuit's just been driven on it's going to be maybe a bit warmer um or would you want to wait a little bit later I don't know everybody's going to be out on track at that point so the track will get nice and warm uh of course but it will cool down a little bit um as no one will run on it for a while uh we're going to see who puts on the fresh tires it looks like uh the graphic hasn't updated so we're all still on the same Tire right now we'll see if everybody's going to be or the the top uh kind of six are going to stay on that uh fresh tire that they just used which will become a used tire of course uh but yeah uh I don't know if we have any other fresh tires that some teams will be uh putting on uh of course but I'm sure we'll find that out in a few moments time um ladin nor currently sets the pace with piastri M P2 so the McLaren have switched it on and managed to get it together since practice of course and they should be the ones to set the pace it looks like I don't know if we're going to get any contesting uh times right now Hamilton lir Russell from my predictions Hamilton Russell L Clair Ping's predictions and Puro earlier on in the chat Russell norish Lara currently purum might be the closest uh out of any run right now got a Mercedes in the mix got a Ferrari in the mix but the only one to have a McLaren uh in the prediction order right now and I think that is a very very good option looking back on it it feels a bit silly to not put a McLaren in the top three but it just kind of made sense in the moment uh but now it might have a changed a little bit and I cannot believe we're not considering the Red Bulls at the moment that that's a ridicul that being said of course we missed out on the Sten setting a final Q2 q1 run I think it was so we don't quite know what their Pace would be right there but um everyone's going to start leaving the pit Lane that is both Red Bulls leading the pack and then we will see um the har car also on the way yeah red maybe just wanting to get a lap in really I couldn't really see what else he wanted to do it does make sense I mean if they're not the fastest car and they don't want to get blocked in the lap then yeah you probably just want to be careful of what you do if you've not got the raw Pace you just need to make sure you get a good lap in and for staing he could Ian you can realistically still get a third I don't think the Red Bull has the pace of the McLaren of course I mean those guys are just absolutely rapid stupidly rapid I should say and Pat's up there as well that's really going to scare Red Bull staing especially in that dri championship fight they need both drivers up there and the fact that none of them are up there that is something that they need to really look at yeah for sure and uh the final moments of qualifying that we've all been waiting for are going to be on your screen right now Red Bull lead the way then we've got hulkenberg and albon who are looking to try and the side position on each other uh I think that's probably fair to say right now they are quite far away from the top eight Unfortunately they were on Old Tires now everyone else is on Fresh tires we're yet to see confirmation of the two Mercedes but they come out the pit Lane now and I believe they will be on the fresh tires as well so perz comes around the final Corner Max sapen as well they'll be starting the final runs of the session where will they end up I think they can definitely mix up I think everyone will start mixing up now it just depends on who will be able to put the lap together in these final moments 1 minute 48 47 on the clock it's not long to go and currently perz and verstappen they start their runs yeah coming into max Vera late on their breaks reaching 344k so not the fastest are on the straights but they seem to have good they have seem to have good straight line speed and into the first Shane it was very very smooth from Mar see the first sector split inter a moment's time nor 264 after staing it's 800s ahead of that 8,000 sorry 8,000 ahead of that a bit squiggly in the second chicane so he's really comfortable now pushing through the first lesmo running it all the way up to the gravel nearly touching it for sappin really pushing on this lap and there seems to be a bit of gravel kicked up into the air I wonder who that was uh it was either Hamilton or Perez but Perez was like 31 two 3/10 away from theen right there not uh so yeah that's not ideal I don't know if Hamilton would have done that it would have been a little bit naughty if they did uh but that looks like vapen might get a bit of a toe from Hamilton right there that's going to help him and parz is also trying to do that but actually backs off their lap and allows for stappen to go through who's got massive traffic right there this is going to be very interesting the stappen will finish qualifying what's it going to be for the Dutchman crossing the line now it will be a p7 610 away and that will be that done for the Perez will not be improving we'll get hulkenberg coming around the final corner to set their lap that will be a P9 for them they will improve will it be enough to stay ahead of albor at the moment we got purple sectors right here from the McLaren from the Ferraris albor crosses the line to P9 they beat hulkenberg in the end Norris looking to try and take pole position and defend from the Ferraris will it be enough final corner and up to the line fando Norris pole position is it going to be he improves by a lot right now piastri final Corner the Australian driver across the line for the final time and they will not be able to improve it's going to be colos SS however with the purple time a P3 will be the best that they can get llar will they find anything a P3 as well as they drop Carlos SS the two Mercedes I believe are the final cars to go but it isn't really looking like anything spectacular at the moment is that George Russell backing off or just moving to the inside of the circuit for a moment I don't know across the line though for the Mercedes drivers this is it for them yeah coming up to the line there George Russell lap it'll be P3 Russell up to third Hamilton where's he going to go only six fastest for Louis Hamilton but the top six separated by nearly 1.86 t0 of a second red are nowhere and Lando Norris continuing his great form on PO position once again it's a McLaren onew Aon who would have thought absolutely incredible we got that completely wrong I think uh Russell being in the top three was the closest we got but yeah uh very very impressive stuff right there Red Bull was it Pace was it mistakes maybe uh Perez definitely made a mistake in that first sector and kind of just backed off immediately was maybe hoping to give his teammate a bit of slipstream but the two Mercedes starting their laps have kind of got in the way of that so he wasn't able to get the toe uh and yeah uh vapen ahead of Perez but not by much uh you know they I I think they definitely had some difficulties in that session rather than it just being paced to be 610 off the pole time I don't think that is outright Pace I hope that isn't outright Pace but Norris doing the job again and piastri will take that P2 it's going to be a lockout for the front two zingy we could get a bit of a repeat of Hungary with some uh interesting team situations will McLaren be able to keep their call and convert this into a one two and who will finish ahead do you reckon well I'd imagine they've got their heads a bit more screwed on now they understand how things work and I would like to think that Lando can keep it off the line but we've seen zamort Spain NE zamort Spain Hungary and there's other track SP where he just hasn't kept p position so yes yes well done to L nor he got p position but into turn one end up will be or will it be back for staing who knows yeah we'll see uh it's it's going to be a crucial first Corner not a really long it's a fairly long run down to the first corner but it's an incredibly heavy breaking Zone uh that's the more important thing uh also Hamilton managing to only get P6 Russell who was kind of on the uh Lower Side of the the pack earlier on just managed to get it that Q3 perfect banged it in and is now starting top three so they did a very good job the Ferrari's just kind of a little bit it's wrong to say lowkey because they were so close uh but just kind of a bit lower key further behind there ready uh if there's any mistakes into the first corner I think the problem is now we've got six cars who all know that they have a chance to win this Grand Prix and it's going to get very feisty into that first corner I I I think Al righty that is everything done sorry for the technical difficulties that we may have had uh
