Pentagon Press Secretary praises how Marines handled themselves during attack in Turkey

Marines assigned to Norfolk based USS WASP are safe tonight after being assaulted by a group of anti American protesters in Turkey. In the video, the marines wearing civilian clothes here were swarmed by the group of young nationalists called Turkish Youth Union with one attacker, placing a bag over the head of one marine. You can see here other marines intervened and no one was injured. The service members later returning to their ship. The Pentagon Press Secretary today praising how the marines handled themselves uh in terms of uh the reaction of the Marines, uh certainly very proud of the professionalism of our service members. Uh And, and most importantly that they're safe. Uh This is clearly a troubling incident. Uh We are grateful for the support of the Turkish authorities who are looking into this and I'll, I'll leave it there. Us SS was under way conducting operations in the Atlantic since early April before heading to the Mediterranean at the end of June.
