thank you I'm excited you have absolutely no idea what you've got I'm a little overwhelmed with that boy I mean she was in here like 15 minutes beforehand and the music was blaring and we were just I was singing and dancing Friday silly goofy movies I feel like we have to do the like Shane when we both joined he like well he forced us to eat he forced me to eat a hot dog with fruit loops on it yeah we're not gonna add mac and cheese I forgot about that and I'm lactose but you you didn't tell us that at the time I was not like hi hi I'm your new well I mean when we uh we surprised you with it yeah I'm your new co-worker I meant more like uh like what's your favorite color um red and blue respect no I'm not great that it read and we play USC yeah red and blue pink and blue pink and blue are definitely my favorite colors on a lavender guy yeah no that that fits though that fits Lavender is a beautiful color now so what did you do before coming to to phnx and obviously cover in Arizona State yeah so I just graduated with my Master's um from Cronkite yes yes and the phnx Sun Devils we are the greatest show of all time gets another one yes sir we do um yeah so I'm excited to be here I was just over the summer doing stuff for uh the bureau the Cronkite Bureau so I went to Summer League covered the NBA Summer League a little bit did some golf um but yeah I'm excited to to do some football do some basketball oh absolutely yeah oh yeah before we get into obviously everything that we have for the day you've already written a couple pieces over at gopersonx.com what are those stories uh about and then what were some of the kind of the big takeaways for you writing this pieces yeah so I did I published two pieces is um last week which hopefully everybody's already seen because they're updated now but um this week I would like to talk about a little bit more because those are upcoming okay let's do it so this week I interviewed Shamari um Simmons he's a D-Back a defensive back for um ASU football um we had a really good talk just about he has this like really cool social media Persona called Hood hero um and so we kind of shared a little bit about that and a little bit about how much he represents his hometown and and all of that and then I also spoke with DeSean Mallory a lineman um if you all don't know DeSean he went through like a massive transition Weight Wise um transferred from Michigan state was 350. wow um kind of like went home over the summer realized that I I can't be 350 anymore um just made an awesome transition is now down to 285 and it's just a monster so yeah yeah no those guys both have had some some really awesome starts to the season we got Ralph in the chat take your hat and glasses off territory Jay Norvell look man look my mama raised me no I'm not gonna get into all that Donald chat toaster when he speaks to grown-up sleeves his glasses and Hannah man everybody turns to Dion like any time I do anything like I get like it's just I mean you you act like you haven't made that bed I mean that's that's fair I guess but at the end of the day like come on now I don't know take your hat and glasses I'm more than just my I got a nice head of hair I don't know you show it off I showered this morning I blew dried you know it was the whole thing so we'll get into that later uh we won't actually try it blue Drive what is the past tense of blow drying you blow dried it what is the past tense of blow dry oh you're right I don't like the blue the blue Drive oh no I don't like that dried dried blow dry it's blow dried blow dried I would I dried my hair it is I dried my hair with it I dried my hair with an air dryer that's fair that's fair aside from the past tense of blow drying we've got a lot to talk about today there's Daniel On Cue we've got hot or not obviously at the end of the show somewhere in between we're gonna get into some guys that should have some pretty favorable mashups or maybe just some guys that can have some big games this week we'll get to our predictions at a certain point in the show and then as always the high point was last night Jalen Conyers had some guys on Joey Ramos uh Leaf was on as well one of my just hell of a character hello character so we've got a jam-packed show for you guys we're gonna get to all that at a certain point but first I want to tell you a little bit not like I still appear on the Diamondback show too he said word for word the D-backs aren't the wagon that I thought that's exactly what Sean said to me yeah and so I came to I came to cover a team it's gonna go one and eleven hey dude you need to just yourself man I'm sorry two and ten okay well Jalen Conyers has his podcast right here uh on this network every single week and he had the boys on uh last night to talk all things um ASU whether that be the loss to Fresno State last week the sellout crowd that ASU is expected to have and then obviously looking forward to that USC game um so we're gonna get to that clip right here in terms of what Jalen Conyers had to say about the USC matchup you know I've seen some good strides all around you know moving people around and uh you know just really diving into this ASU TE Jalin Conyers on USC Matchup defense and really making sure that we're on our p's and q's for this because they got a lot of Playmakers but we also got Playmakers and when we can get our play makers into space I think we're gonna be just fine so we're just going to continue to you know harp on the details and you know it just takes one small detail to mess up a place so if all of us are on our game and on our on our pcqs like I said I think the offense is going to have a great game and you know we're just going to do what we do best and just play ball absolutely leaf yeah I think we just got to do we say it all the time just one play at a time you know I regardless of outcome explosive or turnover just one play at a time just move on to the next play regardless of outcome so I think if we just do that it will be just fine yeah I mean look there's not a whole lot that these guys are gonna say whether they're talking to Media whether they're talking to us whether they're talking to each other right like at the end of the day I think everything has already been said in terms of this matchup um Jalen and the guys I think they understand what they're capable of from a talent perspective we've talked about it you've obviously seen it like this is a talented team and I think they're just kind of waiting um to finally get that game where they're able to put it all together now if USC is it's not really the most opportune time to go out there and you know play Caleb Williams and Lincoln Riley fresh off a bye week but you don't get a if you're the players you don't really get a choice like you gotta go out there and they talked about it right Joey's talking about the skill guys he thinks that they can compete with what USC has on the other side yeah I mean they know what they're capable of they also are fully aware of what USC is right like they they know it's going to be a challenge um but I mean we talk about all week they really got nothing to lose they're getting slightly healthier marginally or at the very least have an idea of who they are going like even if they're not getting healthier they've known who the quarterback's going to be kind of sort of all week um so like you know this is terrible this is so bad oh they're capable of and yeah they just kind of have to do their thing like they can't if they're all if they're going into this game all concerned about USC and all the things that USC's capable of they're like they've got no shot they've just gotta have to take care of what making control no yeah Taylor we laugh kind of at the injuries because we're at practice the other day and there's just a row and you're just like well this guy's hurt this guy's hurt this guy's hurt this guy's hurt it is really like a unique situation that this team has I mean the position that they're at obviously first year head coach first year staff you've kind of bounced around non-conference play and now you get your date with USC and Caleb Williams like could is is this probably the worst possible team that you could have to face at this point in the season yeah yeah yeah yeah that's what yeah I didn't quite understand because they were kind of making sure that their players were healthy yeah maybe not playing in the Fresno State game but they were like let's bring full force against USC yeah and I don't really understand why they did that yeah but that's a fair point right like I get like from like the player's perspective right they're obviously really excited about the USC game so a lot of them wanted to plan it but if you're this team like that's not necessarily the game you need to be rushing people back for it's not like you're it's not like uh a healthy offensive line is going to make this a close game more than likely I guess we'll see something that might at least help this team when they get out there is the fact that it looks like it is going to be a sellout crowd for Arizona State at Sun Devil Stadium Mountain America Stadium whatever the heck you guys want to call it but it is gonna be an electric avenue the impression that he's gonna get fined if he keeps calling uh he knows that's not how that works no it's not how it works I mean you just let them believe that he's gonna get fined for that well I mean it's if it encourages them to call it the right thing then that makes me want to call it son of a stadium I call it Sun Devil Stadium yeah I mean we can call whatever we want but he's kind of you know a part of the school so he kind of has to like the school would get upset if he's if he keeps calling it Sun Devil Stadium someone will talk to him about it dog is very big on this the Mountain America I love Doug yeah exactly and if you love dog you should call him on America I mean that's fair that's absolutely fair but yes it is going to be an electric atmosphere a great environment especially if you have a ticket obviously go to Sun level Stadium but this is what Jayla and the guys had to say about the sellout crowd on last night's show sought to be saying there should be about 54k at the game this weekend I'm gonna lie oh there is 54k at this game I've been to lose my mind I think it's gonna be crazy I mean I think I think that makes a huge hopefully yeah like again like I said in the question ASU TE Jalin Conyers on potential Sell Out Crowd earlier just like what do you think the fans do just in terms of you know a football game like that where you're playing a team like that in the scenario that we're in with kind of the Season we've kind of had already like how much of an effect do you think it has oh it's big I mean hopefully it's a home field advantage you know I mean people practice like noise so I mean hopefully it's an advantage to us you know so absolutely um for me I've personally been against um a big upset at Iowa State when I was there we played I think number five or uh it was um West Virginia when they were ringed yeah no we uh we played them and we had a sold out crowd and you know once the crowd gets rocking I mean it's really it's that energy that they can bring is uh I mean it's a Difference Maker for sure so hopefully all the fans there you know ASU fans Not USC fans yeah you know just correct yeah but again I think we're gonna feed off the energy that you guys gives yeah yeah I mean I mentioned like it was obviously the especially I mean this is Arizona sports right the big question is it going to be ASU fans or USC fans and Donald asking the same thing I honestly like I was saying to you during the clip like I don't think it matters I think though the players would be so hyped just to see that Stadium full with energy like it's just awesome to have for ASU to be a part of game that that many people care about I think it's it's obviously not something we're all that used to here at ASU as of late no we love the Vibes all right that's that's I think when you are building a program like Kenny and these guys are trying to do I think there are things that you can show and you can replicate but when it comes to you know you've got the number five team in the country coming to town with the reigning Heisman winning quarterback with one of the best coaches in college football uh and you're gonna have a packed house like that is when you need to show up uh and you need to show out and I think that is something that if you're Kenny talking to these guys that like this is what you want this program to be you want this program to be on the other side of the aisle you want them to be at some point the number five team in the nation go to somebody's house and people get up every week to play Arizona State and that's what you want but obviously it starts at this point right you start being that process when you're a five touchdown Underdog at home like it's gonna take a a process to to get there and I think it's huge obviously that they're gonna have that sellout crowd and it's gonna be a hell of an environment it's definitely going to be an exciting time there yeah it'll be exciting I hope that the student section hangs back a little bit longer than they have been um I know last week was so disheartening I'm just walking through the stadium like going to the post game press and it was empty yeah and just they were filling out of the arena and I was like it is like half time and there's five people yeah it's tough I mean a certain point the team has to give them a reason to stay I mean I I we talk about a lot like obviously I think we're the kind of fans that like stay at the end no matter what but obviously not everyone's like that and if they're down 30 to nothing at halftime to USC that's not a second half that I'm all that interested in watching like as a fan so keep it competitive and I'm sure I mean I think the students actually gonna show up for sure they've done it I feel like they've been last game wasn't great but up until that like the first two weeks stayed a really strong show and I feel like for USC especially with how many kids are here from Southern California like there will be students there if the question is whether or not they stay like Caitlyn said hopefully they do and people are going to want to come see Caleb Williams exactly and this is why it's kind of not related but this is why you root for the Pac-12 to be successful outside of you ASU like obviously we're always rooting for U of A to fail at all times [ __ ] them but outside of that like it's good when other teams in the conference are good it's good when when you have the when like the pet dog is the best concert football right now it's not close either it's not close they've got what eight ranked teams how many ranked teams yeah eight of the twelve eight of the twelve so like it's the best Conference of football and it's a good thing it's good for ASU even if the ASU is not all that great right now um being on national TV with eyes watching is is going to be good for the program and you never know and you never know exactly because everyone everyone was watching that Colorado State Colorado game thinking they were going to watch just to watch Colorado be Colorado and then they turned into one of the best college football games of the season so far um probably the best so far so um yeah you never know Shane in the chat South Bend sucks the campus goes crazy Shane I don't know how many times in my in my two years that I was on that campus that it probably is just like you don't appreciate it anymore no first off yeah I mean but yes colleges in the Northeast in the midwest campuses are beautiful especially in the snow yeah I know it's something different it's something different but no South Bend absolutely does suck Shane sent us a photo this morning and he was eating corned beef hash and cabbage um next to it it was the single most Midwest looking picture of all time yeah it's pretty it's pretty tough but you're you're across the street from a Dollar General and a vape and smoke shop welcome to the Midwest we have a vape and smoke shop that's crazy no but back to ASU in the environment and what it can do for this team potentially pulling off um a crazy upset the guys last night were talking about the fact that ASU every single year it seems they got one upset in them will this one be the case maybe this is what Kanye's and the guys ASU TE Jalin Conyers on potential Upset against No. 5 USC had to say I will say if one thing I've known ASU growing up like oh no ASU you've been known for are always good for one crazy upset I mean 2019 Oregon right yeah right 2020 not really I was really upset that was covered though over here 2021 uh who did he beat 2021 did we have a crazy win I feel like we did beat it oh we beat UCLA when we when they were ranked at home or at their at the wait yeah right were you there no no you weren't here yet I had no clue that was in 2021. we beat UCLA at the Rose Bowl I remember that then last year B Washington at home so you know hey you never know with these games man you know he's gotta we just gotta play our hearts out it's all that's all we can really can do so yeah he's not wrong nothing else you could do at that point you just gotta leave it out there on the field No One Believes In them dog so well I mean yeah I know you're right no I was gonna yeah look man we obviously you want them to succeed um but kind of the same way we talked about the Arizona Cardinals exactly on tpsp like you just need to see some sort of growth that like this team is moving yeah I mean let's be real I think right now we're just hoping we beat U of A in the territorial cup and so like you gotta you just gotta give me some reason to believe that by the time we get to territorial cup you're going to be a team that can compete with Uma because right now they're not um and so yeah just get a little bit better each week and make me feel like they're gonna at least compete against Cal and against U of A um that's all I can really ask for look the guy's gonna leave there leave leave it all out there uh on the look let's get back on track with ASU uh we do trending up every week three guys that the expectation is that they've got themselves a good match up a favorable matchup that they're due kind of for a big game um and let's start off with the guy who's going to be the starting quarterback tomorrow and that is none Who's trending up ahead of Saturday's matchup against USC? other than um Drew Pine so we'll get to that graphic here in a second uh but Drew Pine is definitely the guy that I think is due for a big game we talked all week long about him being the quarterback for Notre Dame last year and he played out of his mind on only three incompletions over 300 passing yards and he's got a full week now under his belt knowing that he is going to be the guy yeah I mean first office no coincidence that all three of these guys are offensive players um when you consider the team they're playing but yeah I mean we've talked about it like a Drew Pines best game of his collegiate career came against USC B like you said yeah he got thrown into a very difficult situation he has not been running he was injured coming into the season he had not been running with the ones um the week leading up to of the game last week obviously right before gay was the the starter for that game and then he got thrown into it in the middle of a game when they were already kind of like they weren't doing anything already um so it was obviously a very difficult situation for him now he's got a a new play caller be a full week with that play caller and his receivers and just the ones right so it's hard to believe that obviously last week was very very ugly for Drew Pine it's hard to believe that it's going to be that bad um if not just like good this week because he's had a full week to prepare could this be the the Drew Pine Legacy game Taylor hope so because can I make a confession oh let's hear it I was one of the people that left at halftime I mean to be fair too we kind of had two but we did leave at half time that's crazy I saw all I could see yeah it was it was bad it was really it was really bad for Drew Pine it was really bad for Drew pie it was it was bad for everybody dog last week was terrible look uh one of the reasons why Drew Pine was so liked I think by this coaching staff um during his quarterback competition was because Drew is not a guy that is afraid to go air it out he's not afraid to go give his guy the one-on-one and you saw that at Notre Dame obviously I Notre Dame um he had a defense and not say that ASU doesn't but at Notre Dame one of the top defenses in the nation and then you have one of the best offensive lines in the country you're not really afforded that same luxury here yet especially on the line yeah so like again you're with a full week under his belt I think it's going to be a different story now again is this the Drew Pine Legacy game maybe it'd be pretty cool if it was uh but if Drew Pine has himself a game then I think maybe Mel Kwan Stovall is gonna have himself a game as well that is why he is the second player on trending up Sean this has been your guy since the off season he's got sticky hands he's a little bit smaller uh and I feel like when opposing defense is prepping for ASU you obviously you know Jalen Conyers Elijah Badger Xavier Guillory but melquan Stovall has the potential to to go out there and be the guy on his own yeah I mean I think he's just as dangerous as anyone else in this offense um obviously I've been a fan of him since the first day of Spring ball um but um I think like you said he when you're on defense probably for this team like Mel Kwon Stovall is going to be like sixth or seventh on the list of of weapons you really you feel like you need to attack and not not because melquan is a lesser player than any of the guys it's just the way this offense is built right obviously Jaylen you gotta respect Jalen you gotta respect Cam and then EK and and and X are so dynamic in their own right that you you can't let them beat you and so Guillory is I might have a chance to go a little unnoticed by a defense that's not that great as we've talked about um and break open some big plays right I think that's the one thing that will keep one of the things that will keep this offense in the game is them being able to get some big plays and everyone in this office is capable of it but I think like we were just saying melquan is in a position where he might not be uh they might not be paying all that much attention to them yeah and I think melquan you know offensively is one thing but this is a guy on special teams as well yeah exactly that would go a long way in trying to make this a competitive big return it doesn't even have to be a touchdown if you can get this offense start or drive in their own or in USC's half of the field somehow like that's gonna be that would be huge just like this offense has obviously got problems if you can put them in the best possible position to succeed um that's all you can really do if you're not on this offense I guess and like which Melbourne obviously is but um like special teams are third of the game man no absolutely Taylor do you Final Score Predictions think this is is this the week maybe that ASU can finally find some life offensively with guys like Mel Constable Drew Pine in the lineup um based off of what I've seen in practice this past week I have to dealing him hopefully at the range yeah yeah I do think that we can hopefully not go scoreless again at least that's it the bar is on the floor it really is yeah like if they get a field goal if they get a field goal I'm gonna lose my mind I'm just gonna be like USC didn't shut us out like that's all I need that's all I need I would like a touchdown but yeah it uh it was last week was so bad man yeah I mean they we didn't even watch the fourth quarter they've got everything as far as the offense kind of figuring it out like they've got everything going for them in the sense that like they've got nothing to lose they've had a full week of preparation they got a new play caller and they're going against one of the worst defense in the conference if you're gonna figure it out this might be one of the weeks to do it which is crazy considering the Caleb Williams is on the other side of that yeah I mean defense it's a good I will say coming to this USC game it's much better that there's only the big questions exactly it's much better than the big questions are on our offense than our defense because if we had big questions about our defense coming into this USC game we'd be talking about like a 70-7 situation possibly well I might get I mean that's still possible yeah it's always still possible it's less possible now so it would have been if things were flipped like we started the week kind of figuring out how this team is going to stay in this game do you play the trade blows with USC and Caleb Williams probably not the best idea or do you win the the time of possession um and the way you win the time of possession against USC is you run you run and you run and maybe this week they'll do um they'll do some favors and hand the ball to cam scadaboo that's why he's trending up uh the third player on this list this is a guy in camscato that I feel like he has been frustrated but frustrated in the most competitive like I want the ball feed me feed me let me run let me show what I can do let me you know provide for this offense and I think he can be that guy this week especially uh coming off a week where he only had I believe five carries against 15 yards like Tyson Brown and more rushing yards that can be that guy to change the game game for ASU on Saturday yeah I mean he he is going to be the one like if if they're somehow going to manage to figure out a way to like break this defense and and just impose the world like he's gonna be the one to do it he's going to I mean we joking about the Marshawn Lynch thing he's going to hit them in the face over and over and over and over again like he's just gonna He's Just Gonna Keep and he's a bulldog dude like he's just gonna keep running into people and that certainly needs to improve especially when you got a guy like Drew Pine there's a lot of questions about like if you don't have any kind of Rush attack it's gonna be very difficult for Drew Pine to find any kind of success um so feed scat this has the potential to be a really gross game if ASU wants to stay in it it needs to be to be gross yes I think so gross in like the sloppy not grow not will be a little more under control I just they look they don't never fit on my head and so they look weird I feel like in theory if I had a bucket hat that bit me I could Rock a bucket hat so I'll don't like even with coffee's like I'm a huge vanilla guy but when you get like vanilla flavored coffee like I would rather just have unflavored coffee and then teach their own I guess pumpkins that's definitely a personal pumpkin spice flavored things are hot I just I don't mind like if you want to like pumpkin spice go for it I hate pumpkin spice culture it's it's like Taylor Swift I don't really hate it it's the people that root for it that make me hate you that makes sense I don't like pumpkin I see it's funny because I was almost as bad as not like I want to so bad the other day I bought pumpkin coffee creamer because I was like this is the Year this is the Year this is the year I respect that I respect that and then I took two drinks and I was like nope I did that with I do that with pudding like once every five years it's like pudding I've attacked the consistency of it gets me unless banana pudding I could eat banana pudding well no no because banana pudding usually will have like full bananas and like the uh the Nilla wafers in them so the texture's a little different and it's just regular like straight vanilla everything from um when was the last time I had banana pudding recently oh um but then I have banana pudding in um Nashville actually at a hot chicken place and you bought it and it came with vanilla wafers in it yeah vanilla wafers and banana yeah that's how good restaurant yes you ordered pudding at a restaurant well it was like it was a fried chicken place banana pudding is like a it's like a soul food thing yeah 100 never heard of that dude you should have seen because it me Leah and Shane were all like standing out in the street because it was so packed we couldn't eat inside and I had like a meal for two and I was just like three piece dark chicken banana pudding two sides a large sweet tea like I was going in on it so you don't like pumpkin pie um I can tolerate pumpkin pie oh and Ralph's saying pumpkin Porter pumpkin Porter is different because I don't know if it's pumpkin spice it's just pumpkin I think the port is different dog everything is different League everything got four pieces different yeah um I was very much a kid growing up where I I was like they're very you were very much a kid growing up I was very much a kid growing up that was the kind of person I'm sorry for interrupting yeah thank you um the kind of person who would say he didn't like things that he's never had so like for most of my life I didn't like pumpkin until I tried pumpkin bread for the first time in like my junior year of college and it changed my life now I like for there was a solid two-month span where every morning I would come on my way to the office I would get a ice Americano black and a pumpkin uh pumpkin loaf that they call the end of the year parties and stuff and everybody would bring like big goats at school yeah oh yeah yeah oh I know the the school year yeah yeah so I thought you were just like you forgot what New Year's was like uh so you'd make this like cake and I think there was there was always Jello in the center of it like this big blue Jello and she'd put little Lifesavers in it she put Life Savers in it she puts softer yeah the soft one and she put Teddy Grahams in it so it looked like they were like swimming oh and the jello like the little umbrellas yeah that's hard she had a wafer as like the the diving board so that really wouldn't have made any sense for New Year's no not at all it'd be pretty weird if you had a Jello cake well okay thank you will for backing me up it's cool but it's made of horses right we don't like maybe gelatin original at least originally gelatin was made with horse it it was made from horses yeah yeah gelatine all I know is not vegan yeah definitely I'll
