welcome back to another episode of rock boys football getting to that point during the offseason where you're starting to call your shots heading into 2024 I know all of you all listening have some of those bold predictions some of those hot takes that you are believers in heading into 2024 I'm going to give you guys my five bold predictions for this Auburn program would love to hear from you guys 2024 I hey every every college football fan has some hot takes has some bold predictions that you are believers in put them down in the comment section and without further Ado let's get into my number one bold prediction let's start on the offensive side of the football and let's go to pton Thorn throwing for over 3,000 yards in the 2024 season now there are a couple of different reasons that I'm a Believer in pton Thorne heading into the 2024 year one I think the talent around pton Thorne is significant iFly better than it was in 2023 and we kind of said this about pton Thor 12 months ago when he transferred into this Auburn program pton Thorne's a quarterback that can play a very high level of football but you need to give him Talent around him you look back at the 2021 season when he had Keon Coleman he had Jaden Reed he had a run game with Kenneth Walker he threw for over 3200 yards 27 touchdowns LED Michigan State to a 10 plus win season in the 2021 one year I look at this Auburn offense heading into 2024 and if there's one reason that I'm believing this unit takes a massive step in the right direction it's the pass catchers I mean they have significantly upgraded the difference makers in this pass catcher room for this Auburn program and when you give Payton Thorne the talent around him we know he can play a high level of football I think a couple other reasons that I'm kind of a believer in pton Thorne is another off season with this Auburn program I I think it's really important for us to remind ourselves that pton Thorne came in in the Summer with the new coaching staff a ton of new players and only had fall Camp to kind of get acclimated in this Auburn offense there was some expectations that it wasn't going to be smooth sailing for someone like pton Thor in a quick turnaround heading into the SEC with so many changes within this Auburn program having a full off season as the quarterback one getting more comfortable within this Auburn offense I think that certainly matters I think the last reason to believe is one solid offensive line but more importantly Hugh freees having a little bit more Hands-On with this offense you brought Hugh frees in for two reasons one to get the talent acquisition game right he certainly has done that but the second reason that we're Believers in Hugh frees as a head coaches he is one of the elite offensive Minds in all of college football that really wasn't the Hugh's offense in 2023 I think a lot of Auburn fans certainly understand that h freeze has been very vocal that he's going to be more Hands-On with this offense that's only going to help pton Thorne going into 2024 a lot of reasons to believe pton Thorne improves from where he was in 2023 give me pton Thorne going for over 3,000 passing yards in the 2024 season going to number two and I'm going to go with three wide receivers going for over 500 receiving yards now I'm going to change that to pass catches not just wide receivers cuz I also want to include revaldo Fairweather in this conversation at the tight end spot my first bold prediction was going to be cam Coleman leading this Auburn team receiving yards I felt like that wasn't that bold of a prediction I think there are a lot of Auburn fans listening including myself that can certainly see cam Coleman being the wide receiver one in this offense and kind of being the go-to guy so I wanted to get a little bit Bolder and I'm going to go with three pass catchers going for over 500 receiving yards now on the outside that might not even see that b seem that bold you go back to 2023 Auburn had zero pass catchers that went over 500 receiving yards revaldo Fairweather was your leading receiver with 400 and change I think that speaks to how weak that Auburn wide receiver room was you look at this Auburn offense heading into 2024 I mean difference makers all over the Field cam Coleman I think we all feel very confident as a true freshman he's going to go for over 500 yards you look at Keandre Lambert Smith a wide receiver coming from Penn State that I've been very vocal is a wide receiver one that was just kind of rotting away in a brutal Penn State passing attack he's going for over 500 yards now I think the interesting conversation is who's going to be the third pass catcher to make that happen I think Robert Lewis is certainly a very good candidate I think raldo Fairweather is a very good candidate at the tight on spot who is gonna benefit from having better Dynamic Playmakers at the wide receiver spot I mean raldo Fairweather was the pass catcher that defens is playing Auburn were kind of keyed in on I think raldo Fairweather is going to have better opportunity to work the middle of the field I think Perry Thompson could certainly be that guy as well there are five six wide receivers in this Auburn offense that you feel pretty good about potentially going for over 500 yards and you look at Auburn going from zero pass catchers that caught for over 500 yards to potentially three or four pass catchers in the 2024 Seas season that kind of speaks to why we're Believers in this Auburn offense heading into 2024 last bold prediction on the offensive line to all SEC guys and I think my two guys I want to start with Conor Lou and Dylan Wade let's dig into Connor Lou first they a freshman at the center position played phenomenal football towards the back half of the Season emerged as the starter within this Auburn offense now the fascinating conversation with Conor Lou Conor Lou was probably 29 5 pounds starting as a true freshman at the center position in the SEC incredibly impressive that he was able to put together that kind of season now what excites me the most about Conor Le you saw him play phenomenal football at that Center spot as a true freshman he's up to around 305 310 pounds what does it look like when Conor Lou just looks a little bit more physically developed you talk about polished offensive lineman guys that can get off the line of scrimmage have grand have great hand placement really athletic getting to the second level Conor Lou checks all those boxes I think that one box that really wasn't checked was he was an underdeveloped offensive lineman he looked like a true freshman out there didn't play like a true freshman but from a physical standpoint looked like a true freshman having a full off season in the weight room putting on a little bit more weight kind of for a lack of better terms just becoming a little bit of a grown man on the offensive line that's massive for Conor L you cannot lock me in for a massive believer in Conor L not only one of the better centers in the SEC but I think could' be one of the better centers in all of the country then you look at Dylan Wade and say Dylan Wade was a phenomenal starting left tackle for the Auburn Tigers throughout the 2023 season he only gave up two sacks 11 quarterback curries now what's fascinating about Dylan Wade is that's not his ideal position we knew that going into 2023 he's better at the guard spot he's more comfortable at the guard spot his physical traits project better to the guard spot so you're telling me he was a really good tackle probably playing out of position in the SEC now transitioning to that left guard spot it's only gonna get better for Dylan Wade who was an all SEC caliber player in the 2023 season so I think Conor L Dylan weight certainly have the potential to be all SEC offensive lineman and I I would throw in Percy Lewis too as a a kind of unique physically imposing left tackle that I think can get a little bit better in pass protection but can move people off the line of scrimmage it Percy Lewis started the last seven games for Mississippi State only gave up two sacks and four quarterback hurries this was a massive get for the Auburn Tigers in this transfer portal you look at the left side of the offensive line Conor L Dylan way Percy Lewis there's not going to be better left sides of offensive lines that you see in all the SEC and so I think Percy Lewis certainly could be a third offensive lineman that has all sec caliber play in him really really feel good about that going to number four and I'm going to go to the defensive side of the football and let's talk about the Auburn pass rush in my bold prediction a 10 sack season for somebody on the Auburn defensive line now it could be a couple of different guys right calri Faulk let's start with him a guy that fascinates me because he was a true freshman in the SEC last year that just won because he was bigger stronger f faster than a lot of other offensive linemen he purely won off of physical traits last year which is extremely rare for true freshman to come into the SEC and win from a physical standpoint now I think what fascinates me about Krick fol is not only from a physical standpoint is he just gonna get better going into a sophomore year ass he continues to physically mature and get better I think it's a little bit more between the years you go back to keldrick faul in 2023 there was not much pass rush Nuance right there was not many pass rush moves that he had it was just kind of winning because he was a great athlete what H which is to be expected as a true freshman and we're not expecting true freshman to come in and be extremely polished Von Miller Edge rushers what happens when keldrick Faulk learns how to use the power in his hands a little bit more learns how to use that length in athleticism as he developed some more pass rush moves and a little bit more pass rush nuance and polish disguise the limit for somebody like keldrick ful I think you're going to see a massive step in the right direction from keldrick ful certainly a guy that can be a 10 sack a season kind of guy for Auburn I think the second guy you look for is Jaylen McLoud juice you look at him in the 2023 season there just wasn't many offensive tackles that could deal with the get off and kind of running the arc and attacking the outside shoulder like jayen mcla and I think again as he continues to develop and as he continues to go into his second year at the SEC again this was a kid that was playing his first year at the SEC level in 202 3 I think it only gets better for Jaylen McLoud as well heading into 2024 so I look at Jaylen McLoud Krick F and say I feel pretty dang good that one of those two defensive linemen one of those two pass rushers I should say are G to be 10 sack per per season kind of guys last bold prediction true freshman All-American on the defensive side of the football I think a lot of the conversation around Hugh free and that 2024 recruiting class goes to the offensive side the football guys like cam Coleman guys like Walker white and Perry Thompson I look at the Auburn class in 2024 and say they got some difference makers on the defensive side of the football as well now if I were to kind of project my likelihood true freshman all Americans on this Auburn defense I start with the Mars Williams the Auburn fans who've been rocking with the fellas for the last couple of weeks and months know that there's probably nobody higher on a Mars Williams coming out of high school than I was this is a freak Show athlete that played both sides sides of the football has just that blend of the the get off the athleticism but then when you blend that with the power that he has in his hands he's a special caliber athlete and it's GNA be hard to get on the field because you got some really good Edge rushers I think Auburn did a really nice job grabbing some veterans in the transfer portal to kind of add to the depth of the defensive line it's really hard for me to see a Mars Williams not getting some action as a true freshman and when he does get his opportunities I I think this kid's A Difference Maker jamont Waller is probably my number two pick again kind of similar kind of players jamont Waller probably not as physically gifted but an Elite pass rusher coming from the high school ranks I think amarus will jamont wall are two guys that certainly could be true freshman All-American then you kind of go back and talk about a few other guys that could get some burn as true freshman Demarcus rck and DJ barara at the linebacker spot I think you know Austin keys and Eugene Sante are going to be your starting linebackers what kind of excites me is I think Demarcus rck and DJ Barber have really good shots at kind of jumping guys like Fage goe on the depth chart and so you start taking a look at what does the third and fourth linebacker look like in this rotation Demarcus rck and DJ Barber I think can Factor themselves into that rotation and then you look at DJ Durkin and how he likes to use his linebackers getting downhill using them in the pass rush I think that really fits both Demarcus rck and DJ J Barber and so I think these two linebackers again they're not going to starve for Auburn you talk about a few young cats that could be high impact guys as true freshman DJ Barber Demarcus rck certainly could get in that conversation as well I feel really good that one defensive lineman as a or one defensive player I should say as a true freshman emerges as a Difference Maker for this Auburn program becomes a true freshman All-American those are my five bull predictions would
