it's kind of wide open for Max Tulie and then a surprise cut candidate I don't want to say John mey because of CJ strad and how much he loves John mey and him as a Target plus former second round pick I don't think they let him go sadly enough I think Xavier Hutchinson might him or bince konic I don't think they both make the roster I think it's very hard for them both to make the roster I think Xavier Hutchinson's making a case for himself but at the end of the day we see it all the time guys who play very well in the preseason play very well in training camp and then it comes to roster cutdown day and all of a sudden they're not on the team we saw that from Desmond King a couple of years back where he didn't make the final 53 man roster Texans ended up bringing him back but you never know you never know what the Texans coaching staff is going to try to do what pieces they're going to try to mix and match do we have anybody for the uh spamming Patrick so the winner of the out of Davis Mills and I said it before last week's game and I'll say it again these games for Davis Mills this is basically his try out for next season because he's not really going to see the field this year with CJ strad this is his tryy out to where teams go hey we need a backup quarterback what what's some tape on Davis Mills they're going to turn back to this preseason and say this is what you're getting out of Davis Mills so these games are really a tuneup for Davis Mills into next year into contract negotiations possibly with the Texans and other teams to either be a backup or maybe a year with this new weapons I'm really excited to see him out there on the field they're showing him warming up right now on the TV uh next up Damen Pierce no Joe Mixon still for this Texans team he's been injured all of training camp Damen Pierce stepping up can he be that rb1 while Joe Mixon is out right now you need him to step up a lot of Texans coaching staff a lot of guys in the locker room saying Damen Pierce is kind of looking like rookie Damen Pierce and if we get the rookie version of Damen Pierce how he was that season I mean electrifying tough hard nose Runner then this offense is really going to explode if we get that kind of Damen Pierce this year really going to be watching him on uh during today's game next up I mentioned him a little bit ago Xavier Hutchinson has really been impressing so far during training camp that first game against the Chicago Bears in the Hall of Fame game he was outstanding and he's still fighting for a roster spot for that wide receiver four five and six you have Noah Brown you have John mie you have Ben scanic I I know it's kind of a joke at this point but you you do have Robert Woods who's not bad as a wide receiver five wide receiver six if you need that so it's going to be an uphill battle still even though he's playing well for Xavier Hutchinson to make this roster but if he shows out again during this game maybe during the next preseason game it's going to be really hard for the Texans not to keep him on the roster and maybe even you know not use him as a little bit of trade bait if another team needs a wide receiver and you know hey maybe we can't keep them on the roster do they try to get a fourth round pick maybe out of another team maybe a fifth round pick I don't know but Xavier Hutchinson I'm really interested if he can build off how he did last week up against the Bears next up it's gon to be rookie kin bulck that safety there's been a lot of rumors around Justin Simmons for the past week and a half around the Houston Texans and around other teams he met with the New Orleans Saints left there without a deal said he's weighing his options I don't know what that means he said he wants to play for a contender he wants to win this season the Texans seemingly have a need at safety unless you really think that kayin bulock is the guy and there's a lot of people who do believe that kin bulock is the guy and can be the guy but I'm just I'm just not sold on it so I really want to see if he can play well how he looks this year and how you know if he can project to be the tekan starter on the back end if not I'm I'm still team goat sign Justin Simmons I know uh my producer right now truy Trace would be heartbroken if that happened but I think just if you sign Justin Simmons he's your best safety on the team and it's not even close not even a little bit so that's my reason for signing Justin Simmons you're going all in you want to win it all this year you go out and sign a guy like that but maybe kin bulock is what's stopping the Texans from making a move like that because they really do think that he's the guy for them and lastly Derek Barnett I want to see how he plays uh in this game no Will Anderson Jr he's kind of the deao I would say third defensive end rotation guy right now on the roster Dylan Horton still on the pup list still in uh on that injury list we sign Malik fiser out of the UFL he's looked pretty good pretty explosive as well but Derek Barnett he's supposed to be that third guy on this in this defensive end room I want to see a little bit out of him today maybe he can get a couple hurries maybe even a sack in today's matchup I told you my guys who I'm going to be watching especially in the first half obviously the most of those guys won't be playing past the first that he is a legit pass rusher again in this league I don't think the expectation is that he's top five in Sachs once again because I think you really want Will Anderson Jr to take that next step you want him to be that guy to kind of take the mantle and possibly be the best pass rusher on this team but double digit sacks for sure for Daniel hunter that is the expectation barring injury that he gets to that double digit sack number possibly 11 1213 this season I mean he went nuclear last year was top five in sacks I don't know if he's that again this year for the Texans but I mean seen the dude in training cap he is absolutely jacked so I think danial Hunter has a really good chance to you know once again be a top pass rusher in this league but I'm really looking at him to be that you you never know with soft tissue injuries so that's what scares me a little bit with Joe Mixon with Christian Harris Kamari lter now dealing with a soft tissue injury it's very fickle because it there's not like a clear timetable of it takes this long to recover it's literally just how long does it take your muscle to repair and kind of bind back together from that tearing or ripping from whatever part of the muscle that you're getting that you know soft tissue injury from but overall I'm not too too worried about Christian Harris and Joe Mixon I think you know obviously it's it's tough because you want them to be out there you want them to be you know getting those reps in the preseason helping along with the team helping along during the game but at the same time it's preseason so I'm not too worried until we get closer to week one and they're still not playing they're still not practicing right now I'm not I'm not too too worried just because like I said I'd much rather be on the safer side and sit sit guys out and wait until week one than something stupid happened during the preseason a game that means absolutely nothing towards this Texans regular season no
