3 SURPRISE Texans Cut Candidates Via ESPN 53-Man Roster Projection + Trade Jarrett Patterson?

welcome into Texans today everybody I'm your host Jeremy chugs and coming up on today's program ESPN lists two Texans who are under the radar players one of them should be starting one of them I think it's going to ride the bench this year I'll tell you who those two names are and ESPN had a 53 man roster projecting who did they leave off I'll tell you three surprising cut candidates at the end of players from a recent ESPN article named as under the radar prospects and actually there were three but the first one they named was tank Dell and I was like I honestly don't see how he's an under the radar guy they gave some parameters of like had to be outside of the first two rounds and had to have played less than x amount of games he fit the parameters but tank Dell is not a under the radar guy we all know tank Dell is going to have a good season could have a potential breakout season be a pro bowler so I wouldn't say he's under the radar now Jarrett Patterson on the other hand that could be an under the radar guy currently like I said might not even play this season because right now they have juice Scruggs lined up at Center Kenyan green at left guard and Shaq Mason at Right Guard which means Jared Patterson would be riding the pine for the Texans this season as we look at the updated depth chart I don't find a way where he starts unless he straight up Beats juice Scruggs out for that Center position because I don't think he's starting at any of the Guard spots cuz he's a you know more comfortable Center that's where he plays normally in this offense and last year he stepped in pretty admirably for this team a rookie out of Notre Dame he played in seven games these are his PFF grades 60.4 overall 62.9 run block 53.7 pass block zero sacks allowed and only one penalty he played pretty well in his time stepping in for this Texans offensive line last season this is what ESPN had to say about Jarrett Patterson and I want you to really pay attention to the very end of this a year ago the Texans used a second round pick on Center juw Scruggs but the plans to put Scruggs directly into the week one starting lineup hit a speed bump when he went down with a hamstring injury during Houston's preseason finale the Texans starting center was still going to be another rookie six round selection Patterson if rookie Blake fiser bumps Titus Howard from right tackle to left guard it will leave Houston with a backup interior line consisting of Patterson 2022 first round pick Kenyan green and ex Steelers veteran Kindra green that's a group that could start for some teams Patterson certainly could so that tells me if Patterson doesn't get the job there could be teams knocking on the Texans door saying hey we need a starting center you have a starting center who's not even playing for your team right now so the question is would you trade Jarrett Patterson for a mid- round pick if it got down to you know week four week five ju Scruggs is playing pretty decently and a team comes and says hey we'll offer you a third round pick for Jared Patterson right now maybe even a second round pick for Jared Patterson would you take it let me know yes or no down in the comment section personally I wouldn't take it I think Jared Patterson is great depth for this team and you can never have enough depth at the offensive line spot but I mean a second round pick would be very tantalizing it would be hard for Nick cerio to say no to that let me know what you think down below the tech uh the Texans also had another guy on this list Henry toad to the second-year linebacker out of Alabama named as an under the radar guy and he is somebody who has been relatively under the radar had a you know up and down rookie season stepped in here and there played a lot of special teams for this team but after this past off season the Texans lost a couple guys to free agency they only really signed Aziz alire as a you know for sure starter for this team tootoo has a chance to step in and be that guy be that Sam linebacker for this team this is what ESPN had to say on the linebacker the NFL has a long history of undersized instincts and intelligence linebackers who outperform their draft position instead Toto is a regular siiz instincts and intelligence linebacker at 6 fo1 228 lbs he's a stronger run Defender than a pass Defender with a poor coverage dvoa last season 76 among linebackers but an average run tackle at just 3.4 yards before last year's draft the words that kept coming up in his scouting reports were steady and hustle Toto should work on the strong side for the Texans when they need a third linebacker next to aiz alshire and Christian Harris in base personnel and honestly at this point it's his job to lose he'll have the first shot at the linebacker three spot this off season and as he should you know he was in this Texans team last year drafted you know somewhat High out of Alabama Deo loves his Alabama prospects as Alabama guys and obviously another linebacker so he'll have every opportunity to start for this team so I'm really interested to see if he takes that spot if he takes that position or if one of these other guys right behind him on the depth chart maybe outperform him a little bit during training camp in the preseason now coming up we have another ESPN article to break down but I couldn't do day or go check a game out at the Ballpark next up surprise Texans cut candidates based on an ESPN roster projection they did their own 53 man roster projection there and they left a couple guys off that I was a little bit surprised about overall I thought their uh roster projection was you know pretty normal pretty like nothing Earth shattering but I thought it was interesting that they left three guys off first up jaar Jordan the late round pick out of Louisville I thought it was pretty interesting that they left him off off this list because you know obviously they went out and got him for a reason we we saw last year they left the late round pick in Brandon Hill off this 53 man roster but I'm interested to see how they use jard Jordan cuz I was really excited for him to possibly be a kick returner so far far in training camp he hasn't really gotten any of the first or second team reps he's been like with the third team kick returners so I was really excited to see what he could possibly do for this squad but ESPN left him off the roster they put JJ Taylor actually in there instead of him so that was a that was a pretty interesting move that I thought ESPN did another one Jacob Phillips I've been talking about him the past couple days and I just I think he's going to end up making this roster I think he will he has looked really good so far in Camp now obviously he's not a locked to make this roster but I was a little surprised they left him off they put in Jamal Hill and Neville huitt as the backup linebackers which okay I get it you know Jamal Hill another uh late round pick by the Texans this year Neville huitt a really good special teamer but with those five guys if Christian Harris or aiz Al Shire get hurt which currently Christian Harris is injured with a soft tissue injury I don't really necessarily trust Jamal Hill to step in at line backer just yet he could definitely prove me wrong I haven't seen enough of him to be definitive in that take but I would feel a little bit more comfortable with a guy like Jacob Phillips backing them up at the linebacker spot I really think that you know where they're at right now for the linebacker position I think it would be smart to maybe leave six guys on there because Henry too I think he's good I said it earlier in the program I think he could be a good linebacker for this team but at the end of the day I really think Jacob Phillips could be better I I I saw this photo on social media shout out to uh Houston stressing on Twitter but he even said it himself Jacob Phillips has been making plays all throughout Camp Turning Heads so I would expect a guy like him to possibly you know make this roster and make this Texans 53 Man team and I think the Texans might keep six guys they had the Texans keeping five I think they possibly keep six and the last last name that was a surprise cut to me was CJ Henderson and I know what you're saying but Jeremy you've been saying CJ Henderson hasn't been that good he he's not a lock to make this roster I agree with all of that I don't I'm not saying CJ Henderson not making this team would absolutely shock me I'm not saying that at all but the guys that they kept was pretty interesting in my mind I think you know they kept miles Bryant which I get okay like I get you want to keep another you know Corner another Nick guy he's also a good special teamer but at the same time he plays the he plays in the Nickels slot he's more of a slot only guy he's not an outside corner um in my opinion and you have Desmond King there and the other person that's been playing a lot in that position has been Jaylen Petri so if you have Desmond king and you have Jaylen Petri I don't think you need another inside corner to keep on this roster I would rather keep another outside guy like a CJ Henderson or someone else to play on the outside if anything happens to Stingley or Kamari lter I think that would be the smarter option they did keep Jeff Auda but I I would want another outside guy because you already have Desmond king and you already have Jaylen Petri and Jimmy Ward can also play in that slot position as well so you already have a lot of guys who can play up in the Box up right there in the slot position I don't know if you need another one in Miles Bryant that's all I have for you on today's show folks if you want to continue the
