HUGE Injury Update from WVU coach Neal Brown! Are Milum and White healthy?

bit later the day today we're going to be talking about the health of a couple really important West Virginia players Wyatt milon and Jahim white are they going to be able to play the game on Saturday and how would West virgin Faire without those guys that would be pretty bad Jame Joseph had some interesting stuff to stay in his press conference and does he still believe in West Virginia as a playoff contender in the future is Brighton Morgantown there's a lot of freshman doing a lot of good things right now on the roster can they keep him around though or will nil that pesky nil get in the way all that more on this episode of Locked on West Virginia onsports.gr gave well I think this was called The Neil Brown Show actually and this is an article written based off of that but he kind of gave an update on everything concerning West Virginia before Albany so let's get into that really quick and read this article very interesting stuff here this is with head coach Neil Brown recapping what the head coach of the Mountaineers said on his radio show Thursday night head coach Neil Brown was back on the air Thursday night for his second show of the 24 season he talked about the upcoming University of alony matchup the pit State game and gave Wyatt mile update and more keep ready to catch up on everything notable he said by the head coach of the Mountaineers tonight Neil Brown opened the show giving his thoughts on the season opening loss to Penn State disappointing to say the least part of it part of it is because the buildup of the game is you preparing yourself to play a contest that really matters and you fail and not only that but on a big stage and that's what it was we failed we played poorly I have a lot of respect for pit state they're a good and maybe great football team but we didn't put our best foot forward we were good enough to win but get give ourselves enough chances K on the topic saying there are some guys on our team that played very well very poorly and truthfully they weren't ready for the big stage a lot to learn for the pain of that game I I found those comments to be extra interesting uh I wonder who he was talking about what he say when he's saying here that there wasn't people ready for the big stage comment down below let me know who you think Neil Brown was talking about who wasn't ready for the big stage Brown didn't give credit to the overall atmosphere of the game the atmosphere was unbelievable we appreciate the fans it was big for the University to have Fox there and Pat McAfee there and all that supportting explain on Wyatt milm I'm not sure he would have cramped the way he did without the lightning delay he's CR before but never to that degree but maybe an hour into the game the delay it started and we couldn't get it to stop it's disappointing because I thought we were playing well we were having success running it at Abdul Carter because of him on Albany they made a final four appearance of the FCS last year they're the best FCS program to come in here since 2019 which in my opinion he's building them up way too much there they lost everybody they've got 11 new starters on defense so I kind of disagree with Coach on that I mean you got to build him up I get that you can't talk mad about him but that's not true I wish they were that that good we'd have a better test they're extremely well coached and play hard their coach is a Pittsburgh guy which is a reason to dislike them he played that's me saying that he played at Penn State it's another reason to dislike him we've had a lot of guys leave them to go to Power for schools I think four did last year but they brought in 20 division one transfers and they have a lot of confidence play with the edch the beat Marshall last year he talked about a g saying he played every step he was Scrappy and solid G Garett Hollis was solid but he thinks he could play better I know he expects better of him self and Jem Joseph was good and he did some really good things for us Garrett green bypassed three big opportunities to run last week he passed them up to throw contested passes for our offense to operate we need him to be who he is we need him to make plays with his legs we're gonna have a good football team we're GNA play some minol games at home this season and we want you all there we've got a good group of people there are wearing helmets they're going to respond in the right way and they're going to be play the way they're capable of playing we came out of the game pretty healthy outside of my's cramps that right there the most important statement of that opening if you if you ask me coming out of that game healthy is very important you know because I think it could have been it could have been a lot worse could you imagine losing W milum and J White in the first game of the year it would change the entire trajectory of this season right the entire season would change you lose white mil you lose your best player right he's overall he's our best player probably GNA be our highest draft pick then you lose your most explosive player in jeem white and God forbid that something like that happened but it almost did and so great update there that both those guys are going to be healthy for the game I felt that was extremely important here and I'm really excited about it because I really thought Jim White tore his shoulder out I did he he tried to did you guys see the block that he put on the kid I mean he literally went into as a running back pass protection could be a very a lot of big collisions happen with running backs especially in past Pro for running backs because they're they're a couple yards behind sometimes the offensive line and they have to catch blitzing linebackers and defensive ends on stunts and he just put his shoulder into the guy who weighed about 320 pounds and in slowmo it looked like that guy's bit in half so we're lucky that Jem is okay I thought about texting him and asking him about it but I figured he's probably been to asked by a thousand people if he's okay so I didn't want to be another one to add to that list so that is good news really glad to hear that they're both going to be okay next on locked on West Virginia we talk about team Joseph a little bit he had one of the better sneakier performances of the Penn State game and he did an interview right after known program you know the culture here I wanted I wanted to just buy into something that's established already and um the team I mean we brought back majority of the starties had a lot of production so I just I wanted to actually get a chance to get the playoff and and compete at a high level thought it would be to yeah well we ran out of Tel Saturday I was like oh yeah like I was excited I was like yeah this this is what I wanted to be in right here was joking but he said that when he found out that you were going here he said hey check to see if they need a corner yeah so it was kind of funny um I was uh talking to uh coach Cod and Coach Brown a lot and then some just some I was like let me just see asked Coach K was like y'all looking for Corners he was like yeah I was all right bet like I I I know somebody that that might get in the portal so I get you go check them out and then it just it just lined up perfectly your preseason you played a lot of free when Anthony went down right then you were in the cat on Saturday um I know pretty similar but like did are you still I guess you're still learning cat because you spent some time in free but how do you feel about knowing both positions maybe something um I've done Northwestern I always always learned of both both positions that that's just how I study A playbook honestly like I feel like if you playing cat or playing free you you got to know what the other state he's doing um it help you play faster and and the certain techniques you you you can get a step ahead in front of the offense yeah okay yes Saturday can't be a giant eraser to last week but what is it going to take to in your mind to have a successful what's what's Saturday gonna look like to kind of wipe that clean um we gota we gotta take one day at a time you know we gota be focused on the details we got to communicate every rep and practice we got treat it like it is a game we can't we can't necessarily just just uh not be focused not be locked in throughout the week because you know it'll show up on Saturday at this level speaking of how I said we weren't executing when you don't execute and one guy is not they not doing their job the ball's gonna find it every time what are depressive young B Joseph is uh you know he really was wasn't a pressive interview watch that entire interview I encourage you to go watch it he is an impressive kid and he played well on Saturday you could tell that he's played a lot of snaps he's played both cat and free safety in the past so this isn't anything new to him and along with Aubry Burks and along with Anthony Wilson you talk about him coming in that's three really good safeties guys that you've got to rotate in and out of different positions I really do think this SE an opportunity to make a big jump I know it didn't look great in week one but I saw some pretty good things out there a lot of the stuff that happened to them first of all Drew Aller made a couple pinpoint percate perfect throws the one towards the sideline in front of Garnett's outstretched arms I mean it barely missed his fingers by maybe an inch or two there's nothing you can do about about throws like that thankfully not every quarterback makes throws that are that accurate but uh something called my ear whenever he mentioned West Virginia was he came to West Virginia because of they might be a playoff team and I just thought to myself is that what the coaches were selling the recruits on as they recruited him this time to West Virginia or is it more along the lines of that's just how he about the university I thought that was an interesting topic of conversation is just kind of glossed over it a little bit but the whole reason he came to West Virginia was because they were possible playoff team very interesting stuff there so I thought that was cool Jean Joseph not the only player that played well on Saturday that's new guys Reed carero we had him on the show you guys know him we love him ironon Ohio native somebody close to my home he played really well on Saturday really well Reed Caro is a big big get for us guys four four star top 100 player we know that if he can continue that trajectory along with the Josiah troter I I really feel like this defense is only going to get better they could end up be one of the best defenses in the conference guys I really do believe that I know we didn't have a lot on Saturday to prove that but my gut tells me this defense is a lot better than they showed on Saturday and once they get some of these communication issues down you're gonna be talking about something special because there's just too much talent back there now you know you look around and I just see a lot of people that have a lot of faith in and as soon as things get cleaned up on that side of the ball watch out I'm next on locked on West Virginia the future is really bright at West Virginia we know that but Saturday is going to be a big day for a over a year now and he really showed up on Saturday and no that's not in the stupid Drew Aller beam that keeps going around that really pisses me off you know people act like he got snipp arm the ground and didn't make the tackle he made the tackle I got sick of seeing that Saturday but we earned the loss I get it you know they were they were definitely dunking on us which is whatever pin State f for you Josiah trer in my opinion was the most impressive one of the most impressive freshman performances I've seen a long time 10 tackles guys he had the communication helmet on at one point in that game super super studly studly just manly performance from him but not only him not only him guys Jem Joseph had a great game in my opinion I mean we've got to find some silver line out of this right you look to him and you think that's a pretty good combo Reed carero had a pretty good game we mentioned him earlier as well he had a pretty good performance Johnny Williams came in and played serviceably at the left tackle spot hey Johnny Williams your first big time action ever how about you gonna try to block Abdul Carter off the edge what the what the heck of an assignment for anybody you know and unfortunately he did get beat the one time but listen he's gonna get better he you know I'm sure things are moving a th miles an hour for him obviously the those suspects are already going to be on the field but who didn't play or didn't play a lot that I want to see that's pretty simple there's a couple names that I can easily point to that I'm excited about and I think you can agree you'll be excited about as well here they are number one first and foremost I want to see D at the ball and I want to see him get it early I want to see him get it on bubble screens I want to see him get it on reverses I want to him get a kickoff punt whatever you can put him in get the kid some experience give him the ball let him show out let him show off over at FCS team he's gonna be way more talented and let him get some confidence built in this game he could be a huge piece for us we could just get it acclimated faster he could be the most important piece on the offense if we do it right that's my opinion po of course some people are going to disagree Jaden Bray being another the second name on the list he had one drop in the game obviously first game with West Virginia you can't expect him to have just some huge performance he's got a lot of talent he's got a lot of ability jump balls are a big deal down the field we're gonna need him to do that we got to figure out a way to get him involved early and often guys so that he can get comfortable in the offense we can't just have the guys we had last week showed up and that's it those guys are more possession type receivers we need game Breakers we need guys that can really open it up like trayon Ray you know who who who needs to learn a few more things about running routes but he's getting there trayon Dumar is another name I want to see get the ball I want to see him get some touches out of the back field want to see what he looks like want to see what he looks like in a mountaineer's uniform that's going to be an exciting one as well and last but not least obviously Nick Gabriel is the name I think needs to show up guys we need a little bit more dep that the defensive tackle spot we need some pass rush from that side and inside and I think he's a guy that can do that we've heard a lot about him during Camp he's somebody that's growing up really fast it's going to have to grow up really fast we need him to show up as well let me know some names guys who do you guys think should show up on Saturday that you haven't seen yet Nico Mario is another guy I want to see him in the second half I want to see Nico in the second half I want to see him play an entire half he needs the Reps guys we need to see him get the Reps along with Xavier Oley protected his Blind Side I think that's something in the future we can get excited about lots of young Talent on this team we would love to see get the game and for that to happen this team's got to pull away which maybe the most important thing and then we can start talking about pit and get excited again guys let me know about down below what players do you want to see and who how do you want to see them perform in game
