one of the most picturesque locations in the world let Al loone for college football and you will see plenty of buffalos roaming here we believe we've got a great one in store today and when you got a team that makes it into the top 25 now when you go on the road that's when you prove you belong [Music] and the buffalos will put total weather to crank us up and he takes this from inside the five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 all right guys here's our first look at this offense today and here comes the quarterback and one thing you know for sure with this team as he goes so goes the offense and he's a big- Time Talent Reese this guy can hurt you in a multitude of ways throwing and running the football he's going to have to be dialed in though because this defense is going to give him a lot of different looks it's really important mentally this QB is on his game and offenses want to continue to feature the Run they want balance even if it's not super successful you can take it little bit at a time just just to keep that defense honest didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's knocked down in the back field he lose a couple and the defense was locked in you could tell they saw it they reacted right away got the running back on the ground immediately you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 off play action soft spot in the middle and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play a big gain there as they did a tremendous job working the middle of the field yeah and if you're going to complete that throw ree quarterbacks got to play with anticipation you've got to get it out of your hands early and give your receiver an opportunity before the defense gets to the ball from the gun running back on the move after the pickup of nine it's second and one coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that nyd pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and [Applause] short he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple man A lot of times when you Glitz that linebacker it's about timing you don't show your hand and he gets up to the line of scrimmage gets right through the line and makes the tackle for a loss and as soon as the running back gets the football he's got a face full of linebacker not much you can do there like you got to have a little better block you got to identify that Blitz a little bit faster by the offensive line oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down this is a point where you just got to be able to focus and the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch you got to be able to make that play they bring the punter onto the field now first punt of the day and he' love to lock them up close to their goal line punt goes out of bounds and a really nice job as they stick them deep in their own and they'll mark it around the 10 the buffalos offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today you know yards figure to be hard to come by through the air but some quarterbacks Jesse just love to go at the star Corner yeah and this guy's Got Confidence he's not afraid to go at anybody but he better be careful because this cornerback is one of the best in the nation one of the best no doubt I think they will trust him on defense to make plays so you got to make a decision is my guy good enough to beat him on the outside I am fascinated by this match up the buffalos want to move quickly they'll leave it with him and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the D line they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first ball spotted at the 21 it's first down the give from the gun maybe picked up a couple he's down at the 24 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second [Applause] down out of the gun the running back has it yes the nose of the ball to the 25 give him one you know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up probably the toughest call on the play sheet third and long Ball's at the 25 looking to pass it's Sanders fires to the wide out On Target over the middle and they'll do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yds down the field before he's finally stopped love to see the fearlessness of a quarterback to work the middle of the field and he's got so much confidence in his own arm talent to be able to get that football there before the defense can break it up and the buffalos are moving quickly down the field [Applause] off play action on first down quarterback feeling that pressure and he's knocked down at the 42 playaction pass success has a lot to do with selling that fake you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big play big first down sack for the defense brings up second down they'll run it out of the shotgun a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior seventh play of the drive coming up but a long long way to go on third down looking downfield and he needs a bunch always a welcome play for the defense as they get a sack at the 47 nice coverage on the back end great job nothing open right away the QB holds the ball in the pocket and the pass rush finally gets home sometimes it's the DBS doing great work sometimes at the defensive line and win an UPF front and the buffalos will punt this one away he ought to be able to use his first punt to pin him deep and the ball will bounce at to four and find its way into the end zone for a Touchback line gets set first down out of the shotgun they go to the ground and this one will be stopped for No Gain how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 they'll Run play action sends it downfield and the incomplete pass taking a shot on second down and they'll be left with a third down yeah and I love taking deep shots I think it makes quarterbacks play Hest safeties play on us and you could tell just missed a little bit deep on that shot but listen those are shots that we want to take because the risk is definitely worth the re on Third and long he has to throw for it finds his man it's Booker and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker one of the things I love about this defense is they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understood the down and distance they knew ex exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done and here comes the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away no return coming here as he signals for the fair Catch and makes it right around the 30 yd line and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field they'll crank up this drive with the pass got it behind the line it's Hunter and that will go backwards a negative play in that defense on high alert that time the buffalos come to the line in the hurry up they'll run it from the gun so runs like that that can really help your field position as they're up at the 35 and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his pads these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the [Applause] 45 looking for a man it's Sanders and this is going to be incomplete on third down I don't hate the play call there on Third and short either because you try to catch them off guard third and short on your own side of the 50 it's not there throw it away now if you want to go for it now and run it Now's the Time to do it on fourth down and the Buffalo send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away on the return it's Harrington everybody stays in their Lanes well enough and they stop him at the 31 yd line and the offense takes the field ready to go back to work they'll try the Run gets it past the first down marker and still running finally stopped at the 46 after a 15yd gain and that is exactly why you stick to running the football haven't had a lot of success but boom you pop one right that's what you got to do you got you cannot become one-dimensional and just throw the football every every down love the offense sticking to the Run nice job getting the first down right back to the well they'll finally drag him down but not before he gets it to the 40 and it's a first down when the running back gets going and gets ahead of steam like that so hard to get to the ground that's why you Blitz that's why you bring pressure that's why you bring more guys in the box so you can get him before he gets going but once he got going you could tell it was hard to get a hand on him hard to get him to the ground he'll try the right side they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one you see all this movement in football now all the stem in the defensive line they're sliding right before the snap creating confusion for the offensive line then they're moving back and stunting really good job by the defense continue to move continue to stunt continue to get in the back field and make this life hard on this running back he's looking for an open man on second down got his man downfield and he's into the end zone for a touchdown wait can can I get the director to give me a replay of that I want to count the Defenders one two three I mean there's no way they had 11 right I mean that that is frustrating defensively what are you taught like make him earn it right play play Man Press up on him make him earn it make them go the length of the field don't give up big plays or just give up big plays and don't have anybody in the camera shot and don't have anybody there to even miss a tackle lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is good and it's 7 nothing quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the score comes on a pass from 40 yds out almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside to SP nice job by the kickoff team everybody's stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Colorado has the ball back and the Buffalo hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense got a man it's Hart and the big fella couldn't elude the cornerback who makes a sure tackle a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do they'll go to the ground he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and what you talk about on defense is speed is penetration getting in the back field making something happen and you could tell they got in there so quick quick the offense couldn't recover couldn't do anything with them nice job getting the tackle for loss and the buffalos will hustle to the line to the air it's Sanders quickly complete a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down well look that wasn't a touchdown that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on thir down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression the buffalos will snap it on First and 10 looking to move it through the air makes the grab over the middle and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a r and the buffalos are moving quickly down the [Applause] field off the play fake on first down to throw and he avoids the hit and slides after the short game the offense in hurry up mode the give to the back no what a move and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats cuz he is not easy to bring down lining up from the 34 on first down quarterback on the keeper and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage [Applause] lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period offense working from the pistol [Applause] the pull and throw off the RPO and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few great play by the cornerback he was just way too physical at the point of attack he beat his man trying to block him and he tackled that receiver on the screen and the buffalo's in the hurry up the play action fake unleashes one deep right through his hands he had a touchdown and just didn't look the ball in it'll be fourth down yeah and third and short that choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board it's fourth down and they'll try the field goal and this field goal attempt will be a 48 Y and not straight on from the left side that is no good and they couldn't cut into to the lead it's still a seven-point [Applause] game and we'll see the offense make its way onto the field here hoping for a successful Drive he'll keep it himself and that ball is live in the back field def defense covering it up and not letting the offense get it back it's a turnover hey you know it's really easy it's easy to say hey quarterback run out there pitch off of that guy and now your running back gets to go play one-on-one with somebody else it's got to all work timing wise and the defense did a great job flying up nowhere to go make the play make him make a quick decision and you get the fumble and recover in the back field on first down here comes this offense used the play fake now to throw makes the grab it's heart really good concept there to get things going and use the tight end early yeah I mean just such a great job on first down setting up an easier second down understanding I don't always have to push the ball down the field but see the tight end make the throw know it's not a big gain it makes life really easy on me on second down back to pass it's Sanders throws to the wide out right through his hands and incomplete and he'll want that one back it'll be third down come on alligator arms I know you're running over the middle of the field but do your quarterback a favor and just make the play now they missed a field goal on the last drive but you need to get points here so they need to pick up some yardage to at least get in range for their kick trying to pick it up on the ground the buffalo's get it past the sticks and I just love when guys know exactly where the sticks are you could tell ran with purpose finished through the sticks and got just enough for the first down and a nice job up front too right good communication everybody knew where they had to go hat on a hat work the double teams and get some push and the Buffalo come to the line with a new set of downs they get him stopped after a 2yd game ball is at the 17 you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs and the buffalos are in the hurry up one back in the back field he gets the carry relying on that running game as they threaten a pick up of four down to the 13 I think you run that play so you stay out of third and long third and long is not where an offense ever wants to thrive third and medium hey I'm good with that so you run that play to make sure you're set up for a good third down really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal third down play from the gun he's got and he will score touchdown Colarado hey methodical drive that they finish off by tossing it to the tight end and the tight end I'll tell you what this is a position that's evolved so much right and you see a move all over the field it's kind of like Where is Waldo you got to find this big fella especially down in the Red Zone area this is the guy they're going to Target and make the big play get the touchdown [Applause] getting set for the point after splits those uprights right in half so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they finish it by firing one in from the 13 for the score after that latest answer are tied things up just about set to kick it away again he'll start the return inside his five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 okay so here comes the offense returning to the field the give to the tailback he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple that linebacker was a heat seeking missile and the heat that he sought was the ball carrier yeah great job great field linebackers are making all the calls in the defense and understanding when I need to to come through that Gap and come through with bad intention those guys are usually 245 lbs of heat seeking missile they'll try the left side fights off a Defender got enough for the first and he's still going and he's out of bounds after a terrific run and a nice pickup well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive it'll be a first and 10 from the 29 they'll try the right side he picks up maybe a couple before he stopped right at the 30 yd line the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long we saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical after picking up a couple it's second and eight they'll give it to the back finding a way to put that foot in the ground and get it up to the 37 yd line keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the run then you open it up for the passing after the strong run on second down third down coming do they do it again they'll try to pick it up on the ground and they'll Spot It at the 45 that's good enough for a first down all right defense that's that's what we can't do we can't give up this many chunk yards on the ground got to commit more guys to the line of scrimmage got to get those running backs on the ground that's way too easy no big secret what they're trying to do here they've kept it on the ground it's first and 10 they're trying to slow that Rush down with the drw continuing to turn and move it forward and they're closing in on Midfield it's down at the 4 eight it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the productive first down play it's second and six the give on the inside really nice stop there from this senior leader all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point in the dead center of the field as they try to convert this third and short the snap sets up to throw unloads to the wide out tremendous awareness along the sideline and the ability to get the foot down for the big pickup really good throw and catch there David but on third down you have to put a little bit of heat on the quarterback somehow somehow now some way get him uncomfortable they didn't do it there great job of this offensive line nice protection good clean pocket QB rips the football easily gets the first down to the ground with the back knocked down at the 27 after a pick up of five I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make him honor the Run make them know that you're willing to run the football and run it effectively halfway there on first down it's second and five he's looking to throw fires to the big fella and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up look you can't take away everything right so you give them that and rally and make a solid T yeah and a lot of times in zone coverage I like when I can get all the eyes on the quarterback I like when I can see the routes and see them develop in the middle and you could tell they had keys on the tight end he wasn't going anywhere after he caught that footprint fires to the wide out and they couldn't connect on the Deep shot let's see if things get worse there's a flag on the field which way is this going to go and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air he simply can't do it and the referee's caught they'll ride the running back and leave it with him going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the End Zone on second down he'll let it fly makes the grab and he won't be able to get in as the defense gets him down at the one nice compl here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and on that situation on the one yard line the defense brings so many guys Palmer Gets In The Back Field creates the negative point yeah I think we're seeing the overall athleticism of this defense they've got guys flying to the ball can the defense stop them again on second and goal they'll run it to the left looking for the touchdown here he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two and with the stuff there Jesse on second down this little third to mid-range you got two downs what are you thinking here maybe getting your quarterback out on the perimeter and giving him a run pass option see if you can get the defense in a bind trying to punch it in and decision time coming for this offense how about the defense they've hung in their Palmer made him earn it all the way down now are you going to go forward on fourth down yeah you know after running so many plays offensively on the drive I know it'd be disappointing to only walk away with a field goal but you'd feel even worse if you went for a touchdown and did it get it I think he kick it right here and on fourth down here comes the field goal unit he'll boot it from the left side and from this distance that angle ought to be fairly easy and the try is no good and here in the second quarter Miss field goal leaves his tied guys well that's one the kicker would like to have back that's a kick he should be making in his [Music] sleep and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field how about the way they attacked the last time they had the ball mixing run and pass and winding up in the end zone Jesse that's why recruiting is so important they've got weapons at every skill position on the field any of these guys is dangerous if they touch the football let's see what they do on this drive David and so Palmer I got to take away something I can't let them have everything and have success I got to be aggressive against the run or play for the pass I can't give them everything the Buffalo want to pick up the tempo On The Run it's Sanders and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball not many receivers like to get hit they just don't okay they're pradon that's what they are that's who they are nice job by the defender you could tell he was catching the football he was going to put a hit on him to make sure he had to think about something later and you could see see the ball pop out and fall to the ground he's going to pass on second down throws for the tight end and that one's incomplete sometimes a quarterback just needs to turn the ball loose it was like he tried to guide that one in and it disrupted the timing yeah and and just like in basketball when when you shoot a shot and you you start trying to aim it you really really miss you know quarterbacks they got to quickly be able to recognize do I need to fire it do I do I need to put a little air underneath it and it's just a tough thing for a quarterback to be able to do but over time you see they have less and less got it he gets it in touch down buffalo what a massive play for the offense and sometimes when you're calling it deep in your own end You're Expecting man coverage or at least a one-on-one to the outside of the field and that's what they had the quarterback put air under it the receiver shows off his speed they make the catch and it's not just a big first down it's a touchdown that is a momentum changing play he'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they finish things off with a big play 68 yds on the touchdown pass the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one away on the run from inside his own five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 here comes the offense on first down the give to the back barrels all the way to the 29 a gain of six I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four they'll keep it on the ground he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple I tell you this defensive end not only can he pass rush but he can play the run as well you see him beat the offensive lineman there trying to block him and get in the back field to make that tackle for loss that was impressive it's third down now and they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning defense calls a quick timeout there perhaps a little confusion about what call they were in it's third down now and they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning from the gun wants to pass got a man in the middle and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains the offense lines up at the 41 with a first and 10 he wants to throw using the quick game stopped just across the 50 at the 49 yd line it's a pickup of 10 and a first down that was a good read there not the biggest gain in the world David but take up the space they're going to give you in the zone yeah make it easy man make the right decision if he's open get it to him get some positive yards basically a run play going up top on first down coming after it and the defense gets to the quarterback there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer after the big first down sack for the D it's second down he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out makes a connection just outstanding execution continuing to work his way back through the football yeah and every everything about this route looks vertical The Comeback it looks like it's a goat I'm thinking speed and then he sets it down QB puts the ball on the money and he makes the play and they got the completion but still looking at a third down and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up got to give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in your infield goal range what do you do here and the O will stay out there and go for it on Fourth and inches they'll try to pick up the first finally pulled down but not before moving the change for a first down they needed less than a yard really too far to kick a field goal a little too close to punt there really not much of a decision there yeah and I really don't care where you're at on the field fourth and inches I like me to get inches and I'm going for it especially when you're in the side of the field where you long field goal or maybe just punting the ball now go for it oh he drops the football he had him right down the gut of the field instead it'll be second down just didn't seem like the quarterback in his intended target were on the same page there couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again on second down just keeps firing finds a man in the middle tackle is made after the first down and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down they're in the Red Zone first and 10 from the 20 trying to cap this drive with a pass they're working that left side they'll get it down to the8 yd line on that throw and catch and the defense is backed up against the wall we've got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break and this offense has a chance to pull even as we get deep in the first half defense trying to hold on to the lead fires to the end zone and he's got a touchdown yeah and the passing game comes through man and we we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from tying this football game you trailed a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second half [Music] [Music] lining up to add another bangs it through for an extra point they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they finish things off with an eight- yd toss for the score so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off this half on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Colorado has the ball back and the buffalo's hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense they'll throw it to the back on the screen they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back BLS like that put just a second of hesitation in the defense to make sure and they're able to take it Advantage here and they use the great timing with this call right like you can't call this play all the time but you want to catch them when they're a little bit aggressive not thinking about it nice job slipping the screen behind them making the easy catch and then getting downfield picking up some extra yards and here comes the offense on second down to the air it's Sanders he's right on target the offense waste no time getting the timeout call this is a very tough slot receiver to cover if you're a linebacker because of how quick and how Shifty he is you never seem to know which way he's going and he always seems to create an open space and the quarterback is snowed under the defense Burns their third and final timeout of the half and the buffalos will try to pin them back with the punt fair catch is made but there is laundry on the deck so we might be having a doover the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty to the air on first down that pressure got to him and he just had to Chuck it out of [Music] bounds one more play before the teams head to the locker rooms he's looking for a man on second down pressure is all over him and he can't get it off down he goes and that'll bring us to the end of the first half first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update thanks guys a first half that saw a little bit of everything there in Boulder each of these two offenses has look like well-oiled machines but it doesn't take a genius to figure out these two passing attacks have run circles around these defenses man or Zone nothing seems to be working and I'm not sure that defensive coordinator is going to be able to figure things out here at halftime and with that let's send it back to the guys more than a mile above sea level at fulson field just about set to put total Leathers we are deadlocked here in the third the returner will field it and try to do some business and they'll get him on the ground as the offense comes out to start the next drive and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field first drive of the second half always fun to watch you see what type of tweaks were made at the half especially when you're locked up in a ball game like this one yeah and it's been a good game I mean it's been a little bit of back and forth and a feeling out process and now once you get in the second half who's going to get aggressive Palmer who's going to take some shots try to make some plays and really go for it yeah it's interesting I think his play callers right now you learn a lot about these coaching staffs with respect to who does make the best adjustments there's a lot of coaches that believe we're just going to be who we are we're going to keep doing what we do we're just going to do it better but then there are others that tweak things a little bit on off defense and on defense we're going to find out here they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker well you hear all the time that the tight ends the QB's best friend you saw a perfect example of it on that last play right second down you need to pick up some positive yards to keep this third down manageable really nice job of executing that back to pass it's Sanders a strike downfield excellent job job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down well we know this guy is special and because of that his quarterback is looking to him on critical down and distances there on that third down there was no question it wouldn't have mattered if he was single covered double covered man Zone that's where he was going with it and the Big Time playmaker outside picks up the first looking down the middle he's got an open man that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop really nice job by the quarterback understanding I needed to throw this ball hard like I got to fit in there tight and a nice job by the wide receiver wearing it cuz he really didn't have a choice cuz he was going to wear that one regardless and the buffalo's headed quickly to the line from the gun running back gets to give they finally get him on the ground but the big running play moves to change for the first down first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and and right now he's doing some damage on this defense he's got it gets out of bounds after the big game but they've got it first and goal throwing the comeback looks like such a simple throw but the timing is so important and as a quarterback man this is all about trusting your guy you know exactly where he's going to sit it down you anticipate it you throw it you know he's going to come back and make that play for him they get him on the ground at the three yd line but this defense is taking some punches offense trying to pay it off on second and goal he'll put the tight end in motion trying to get in the end zone again he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple man and that's a frustrating play when you go in Reverse near the goal line go to go situations Palmer you got to get those positive yards you can't go backwards if you're trying to get a touchdown you know I'm trusting in my quarterback here to make the right decision looks like we're going to have to throw it right but if it's not open just throw this thing away don't want to take a sack lose extra yard touchdown buck and that one will put him up here in the second half this dude is just slicing and dicing this defense into little tiny pieces carving him up completely comfortable knows exactly what he's getting had so much success today you got to find a way to make these quarterbacks feel more [Music] uncomfortable lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and they're on top by [Applause] [Music] seven lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 first down for this offense from the gun the running back has it got to be smart patient great vision uses all of that to get to the 29 you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short he's looking to throw under heat and he gets rid of it that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete ball spoted at the 29 here they come on Third and short trying play action they're trying to get to him still running up the 40 and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit and you're seeing here the difficulties defenses have trying to contain this guy if you leave a lane open or you don't sack him right away and you allow him to get outside the pocket he is going to take off and he is very difficult to tackle in the open field he's got running back likeability out in [Applause] space running back searching for a hole not much working there it'll be second and nine kept it on the ground on first down now back to the line looking for a crease to the left just a solid stop by this [Applause] [Applause] sophomore after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down they'll go to the air finds his Target down the middle they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first [Applause] down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs leaves it with the running back they make the stop but he got work done on the ground picking up six to the 23 when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground the defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dunk Dink and dunk you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive on second down wants to throw pressure is on the way and the pressure has arrived and down he goes at the 30 how about the aggressive play calling love aggressiveness bringing the free safety down blitzing him you could tell completely disrupted the offense they didn't know how to handle it free safety chases the QB gets him on the [Music] ground third and long from the 30 yd line in this defense hoping to knock them out of field goal range from the gun wants to pass takes a shot as he lets it go throw into the end zone and it's picked off I love when people start to understand what we're doing defensively if they're going to pass the football and that's the where they're going to live well I'm going to live and die I'm going to bring more defensive backs on the field so I can cover more of these speed guys that they have out there great job by the defensive back breaking on the football making the int making the DC look very smart Colorado has the ball back and the buffalo's hoping to put their team in Prime position on offense that last drive an absolute aerial assault for the touchdown Jesse it was a nice job in play calling too David just giving the quarterback some easy looks and reads so he could go out and execute and he knew exactly where to go with the football everything looked really really easy he was was hot the ball was coming out of his hands the defense better do something different the buffalos want to crank the [Applause] tempo holds and fires complete to the right and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down [Applause] [Music] here's this offense with a fresh set of downs back to throw it's Sanders and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming let's see if they go back to the air on second down he's looking to throw got his man quickly and they don't drag him down until he gets all the way to the 46 yd line quarterbacks love receivers that can do damage once they have the football in his hands no doubt there easy slant completion and then let your receiver go make Hy once he has the ball movement from the linebackers trying to mess with the offensive Line's [Applause] assignments from the gun they'll try to impose their will they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one so you get stuffed on first down you had an idea of what you wanted to do on second but I'm guessing it's back to the drawing board now yeah you you got to figure out who you are and what you are uh what's your next best play or what is the defense going to do if they've been aggressive okay well if they've been aggressive I'm going to throw that deep ball if they've been sitting back I might sneak a draw in gets it out quickly and he's knocked down immediately but a good pick up on that play I think really good wide receivers do a good job of making every route kind of look the same you could tell he this looked like a vertical route so if I'm a DB I'm bailing and all of a sudden he sits that hitch down nice job by the wide receiver create enough separation to create a positive game out of the shotgun on third down oh he's going to try to hit him deep snags it into to the end zone touchdown kamado he has been surgical Precision passes using the scaffold the fine instrument rather than the blunt one and the defense has had absolutely no answer for it just he's been down their throats all game long a step ahead understanding what he's seeing and just destroying this defense lining up for the pat and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so it's an 80 yd drive and the score comes on a pass from 40 yds out about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 they'll get this drive going from the S7 power football with the run and they picked up nine on first down it'll bring up second and short listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one give to the back at the 40 there he goes and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain you don't always have to run the sexy plays right they doesn't have to always be uptempo and fast and spread and doing all this stuff sometimes you just lower your shoulder sometimes you just run powerfully you get the first down and that's all that matters the offense getting set for a first down from the 45 movement here from the tight end they go to the ground makes it pass to marker really nice pickup on that one as they get it to the 36 it'll be first down every offense wants to be able to run the ball and be physical especially on first down and you want to create second and short third and short or just get first downs like that run right there moving into scoring territory at the 36 on first down give to the running back PS through the defense couldn't really get started there pick up of one to the 35 man a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D lineman and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field he's got it brought down just outside the Red Zone he moves the chains it's at the 22 and listen you get Zone coverage and you can hit that curl route and he comes open continually keep hitting it this might be a play to come back to the offense down to the 22 on First and 10 he's looking to throw it makes the catch it's Booker well it's a nice job by the defender there closing the Gap with the wide receiver they're going to complete the hitch pass but he's able to run right up on him get him to the ground for a minimal game that completion leaves us with second and medium quarterback keeper and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches and a chance to show off their hands in the passing game just about ready to go in the fourth and we'll see if any drama can be mustered down to the 12 yd line it's first down hand off from the gun pick up of one it's down at the 11 going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he's looking to throw he's got it on the move they get it down to the seven on that pass play in Prime position for a score the modest gain on the completion really shows why you want to run the Zone make them execute and rally to the ball 100% Zone eyes on the quarterback I see him throw the football break on it go make tackles live to fight another down in the gun and looking to throw on third down into the end zone he's got it touchdown that big score makes the end of this game very interesting no doubt the offense got what they need more work to do but you had to get this part accomplished first [Music] now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get [Applause] closer so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty the kickoff team out there to boot it away in 15 yds farther up the field after the roughing the kicker penalty no shot to return that one as he boomed it out of the back back of the end zone looking for a productive play on first down used the play fake now to throw that's caught it's Hunter that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down this receiver is so dangerous out in space and it's a nice job by the QB getting him the ball early on the curl route and you see once he has it he's got some wiggle he's got some shake makes some Defenders Miss and gets up the field looking downfield it's Sanders and he can't escape and down he goes the defense has had some bad stuff happen to them today but one bright spot for them has been the pass rush they've shown the ability to get after the opposing quarterback and the buffalo's moving quickly to the line on Third and long try to convert through through the air The Shore Hands it's h and he's brought down at the 40 yd line and that'll be a first down well this guy's been a go-to guy for this offense all game long we've seen that and here on a critical third down late in the game with the lead guess who shows up with another big one that guy and the buffalos have it with a first and 10 used the play fake now to throw incomplete and very lucky that one wasn't picked off and man could they have used that it'll be second down that play call is going to force a lot of people to scratch their heads because you've got the lead late why aren't you just running the ball when you throw you risk having interceptions like that right there that should have been picked that incompletion leads to Second down and 10 he's looking to throw going to try to pop one on the screen really good pick up on second down there leaves him with third and two love the execution there in the screen the running back shows pass protect pass protect last second turns around so he's able to get the ball the D lineman have already run past him now he can turn up field for a big Gainer moving quickly trying to Rattle the D on Third and short they'll ride the running back here the buffalo's get up for the first down and this is exactly what this offense wants and wants to continue to do a couple more first downs I just got two first downs couple more first downs run the clock with the lead great recipe for getting the win and the buffalos look to keep this drive humming they're getting this guy lathered up he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three so you get stuffed on first down and now you have the offensive coordinator thinking a little bit yeah we're probably going to have to throw it now on this second play but what are we going to see defensively now that they know we're throwing might they Blitz us do I have to leave more guys in Block there's a real cat and mouse game going on right now between these two coaching staffs to throw it's Sanders he's got his man strong firm tackle slant routes they're good against man coverage but they're good against Zone coverage too if that receiver can find the soft spot between the linebacker and the DB you'll take that throw all day they come to the line three yards away from the first down marker they've converted twice on this drive they move the tight end all over bully ball on Third and short putting together a real scoring threat here as they pick up the first down at the 36 man it's so nice to have a guy that you can depend on like this offense is built around him for a reason just a a good running back you can see gets north south doesn't dance picks up positive yards breaks tackles he's just a really good player and that's why this offense runs through him they'll throw it on first down looking to the big tight end and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down the quarterback knew he wanted to go to his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field on second down he'll let it fly makes the grab along the sidelines but it'll be a little short of the first down and the wide receivers have to understand what part of the field they're on I got to make sure I have enough space when I run those out out routes that when I break I can catch the football and try to get up field get a few more yards he runs out of space but he got the catch and got some positive yards they'll snap it from the gun on third down got his man in the middle and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and run well this defense has given up some big plays in this game so far but they've got a lot of Talent on that side of the football someone has to step up here make a play get a stop and put their team in a position to win and the buffalo's racing to the line in the hurry up from the Red Zone looking for a man quickly complete he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there you know what's interesting at this point of the game with the lead in the fourth quarter the defense is expecting them to run the ball and because they're putting so many guys close to the line of scrimmage they're taking advantage throwing it two straight completions now backto back fast motion from the offense turning to the running game on first and goal he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of perer man that's the advantage of having a good coaching staff to teach these players in this type of situation with the lead late in the game you want to stay in the field of play and keep the clock ticking they do that after that nice run looking for just one more yard it's second and goal looking downfield it's Sanders and it's caught tdch down buffalo the great thing about spreading a defense out I can see where the blitz is coming from I can see where they're weak I can see my matchups nice job by the offense spreading them out taking advantage of their matchup and getting in for the [Music] score they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point is true and they have a two touchdown lead up 14 in the fourth they held the ball for 15 plays on that touchdown drive it was capped off by a one yd touchdown pass kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go he'll bring it back from inside his five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 a first first down for the offense wide out in motion trying to start the drive with a pass tip ball put it up for grabs and I thought he had it but somehow it slithered through his fingers you know the defense just hasn't seemed to quite have an answer they've come close to interceptions like that one there but they haven't registered any so far they've given up a few touchdown passes they're just not quite able to make the plays they need to against the pass in this game on second down wants to throw it snags it over the middle that's a bang bang play three-step slant they rep this over and over in practice so they can go out and execute it on game day like that now looking for that first down on Third and short from the 26 they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short well the defense got the stop there on Third and one let's see if they can do it again here on Fourth and inches David I just got to find a way to fall forward be physical we work on this all week you know you're going for it on fourth down down by multiple possessions they can't come up empty on this drive in the fourth quarter they'll go for it on fourth down and in his sophomore season he's really learned to find that Running Room do you think that coach really had any doubt he's in his own territory but you only have a few inches to go go go go I don't care what side of the field it is fourth and inches I'm going for it I like my chances they'll put it in play from the 41 on first down they're looking to get the edge with this one on the toss able to scr three yds out of that when somehow it's second and seven you know it's so important for offens is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven been showing them the run now they'll throw it and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense well that looked like it was going to be a completion but how about the defender making the hit and forcing the incompletion a chance to sort of put the defense on its heels if you convert a third and long this one from the 44 from the gun wants to pass complete to the right and they exploited that soft spot and they get it down to the 35 they absolutely had to have that third down to keep any glimmer of hope alive and defensively that's exactly what I want make you get to third down the clock is your enemy multiple possession lead that is right where I want this [Applause] offense we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up went to the running game on first down now here they come again dialing up a second down pass play got him in it's mcferson makes the catch and he's brought down well and here's the problem offensively because you're trailing by so much so late in the game the defense now is going to be playing big Zone coverages and they're going to allow you to throw the ball underneath in the middle of the field rally to make a tackle and leave the clock it's going to be hard now for this offense to claw their way back in this [Applause] one looking to throw on third he's got the back in the middle and they knock him down but he got past the line to game well trailing like they are right now in the fourth quarter their execution offensively is just going to have to be at a premium you can't afford a lot of incompletions at this point everybody is going to need to be on the same page moving forward from the 22 on First and 10 he's going to pass just had to get rid of that one good job to fight another play this defense just can't get on off the field the offense Unstoppable wants to throw on second down intercepted going the other way and he's got room and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception the number one objective for a defense is to make the offense one dimensional well when they're trailing by this much late in the game they're one dimensional they have to pass the football we can bring more speed on the field you see it we know you're throwing the football nice break on the football nice interception this one's almost over and the Colorado offense is coming back onto the field how about that last drive just carved him up in the air David yeah and how about that quarterback you gave him the ball and he delivered the goods great job taking apart the defense Jesse on that last drive he really did David I mean that was a master class in just reading coverage and being accurate the buffalo want to move quickly we reached the two-minute warning in this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time away linebackers trying to create some confusion no reason to do anything here except keep it on the ground on second and five they'll run it they want to take their time here and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to it see if they can turn this drive into points they've got it first and 10 at the 50 from the gun they'll try to impose their running game nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry if you're the defense you know that running back is the guy you've now got to stop he's had a lot of touches in this game yes he's made a lot of plays but you've got a chance to win here if you're going to do that you need to take him away one step WRA two-step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum here's the handoff and how about that alertness and that swarming D to keep him from getting the first down quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense and the Buffalo will send out the punt unit and the punt will go into the end zone and the ball comes out to the 20 on the Touchback lot of field in front of them as they open this possession from their own 20 he wants to start this drive with a pass all kinds of room to throw that one in there and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yards just picked up well this tight end is so athletic that at times they'll line him up in different parts of the field that time he was in the slot nice job running the route finding the open space in the defense for the completion clock is still running and they have to get everybody lined up wants to throw on first down and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack how nice is it as a defense when you can drop seven guys in a coverage only Rush four and still get home that makes you feel good if you're the de coordinate the hurry up now second down clock ticking every second is Meaningful and they save a few of them with the this is a third and long looking to throw and he needs a chunk play and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes when you got third in this long everybody knows what's coming it's going to be a pass defensive lineman get to tee off they know exactly what's coming go get the quarterback it is your dream that is what you live for it's what you practice in the offseason for I want sacks just like that on fourth down they'll pass for [Applause] it he's taking a deep shot late in the game what a spectacular grab there as they try to finish this game with a little something to feel good about the hands the feet he steps his way into the end zone for the touchdown it's not over yet yeah there's still a little bit of time on the clock obviously that score gives you a chance but man oh man do you need some miracles to happen some way to get this football back and do some damage with [Music] it on to attempt the try they TCH on the extra point and they're down a touchdown 3528 a very efficient five playay scoring drive and the points come in a lightning strike a 70 yd touchdown pass here's the situation first they have to recover the onside kick then maybe time for a play or two they'd hope to get that thing bouncing around but the hands team is able to Corral it their work here is virtually done no need to take any more chances they'll line up in Victory formation the quarterback takes a snap and takes a knee [Applause]
