this guy delivers in fact he became only the eighth quarterback to take a team to a Super Bowl in their second season in the history of this league can't wait to watch Brock pie continue to take more and more steps with this invaluable experience he's gained as a young player looking for his wide receiver there and it sets up second down the best of the best they just have this intuition Kate they know where the boundary is without looking this receiver is not quite at that level yet he lost track back of where he was and he brought it in but out of bounds here's the first Carry for Christian mcaffrey and this one's brought to a halt at about the 36 yd line only a yard from him that time so now third nine I think one thing you learned Kate when you transition from college to the NFL not every run is going to be a big play some of them well they're just destined to end in a minimal game and some of them will set up that critical play action for [Applause] later on third down pie short pass caught by his tight end running down the left side and he breaks into enemy territory before being stopped on a huge game now right there that's what you want to see on your opening drive boom connect on a big shot and instantly you set a tone that you're not going to be afraid to be aggressive in this game today Bo you I love [Applause] that now they'll hit the line just outside the Red Zone following that big [Applause] play now G it's mcaffrey headed right and he's caught behind the line for a loss well he was supposed to be the one who chipped away a few and got a new set of downs started right in Rhythm instead he's now forced to pick himself from behind the line thanks to a great effort defensively everyone's preed it's second down [Applause] now they stick with mcaffrey and he's tackled after gaining a handful he gets a half dozen on the carry that's also going to bring up third and six that's a run that you'll take the result in the NFL every time a nice play a solid game but it's also a run that you know and you may come back to because if you were that close to breaking off an explosive one you really break the backs of a defense throw on third down and he will score touchdown San Francisco the 49ers take a 60 lead on their opening drive Deo Samuel the touchdown he finds one of his great receivers Brock and they are off to a great start to begin this ball game yeah it's such a positive offensively would you can go find not just a field goal but a touchdown on that opening drive and defensively this starts to shake the foundation of your preparation and makes you wonder what's in [Applause] store Jake Moody on for the P that one right down the middle and they add one on to their first touchdown of the contest out to kick it away here's Moody kickoff taken at the three and the return sets them up just beyond their own 20 so now it's the Jets getting that on offense for their opening drive they're L out by the four time MVP who's been in this league since 2005 Aaron roders I think it's safe to say Kate Aaron Rogers may be one of the most polarizing figures in the NFL but there is nobody nobody that will question his ability to spin a football different than everybody else just ask his receivers tight ends running backs anybody that's ever played with him he elevates their game and he often elevates his own game to an MVP kind of level here's Bree h on the ground for the first time and that's only one yard up the middle going to be second down hey we know running the ball in the NFL is hard and that play pretty indicative of it here's the key though at the end of the game those type of plays got to be in the minority and the majority have got to do some damage they'll come to the line here second and nine they go right back to Hall Jukes one Defender and he found some Running Room for a nice gain that's going to go down as a gain of seven now they're going to have third and two Kate I know you could see that smile on my face as we stand next to each other sure I love that R but I'm thinking about some great running backs in fact Cory Dylan who created a lot of negative grades on my play sheet because I didn't want to carry out no fake I wanted to watch the damage he could do like we just saw and this one gets to the 33 yd line before it stopped three yards there and enough to move the chains okay you know me I can't resist I thought we might have needed the old Jean stator index car down there making a really close measurement to see if he got the first down or not but the end well the right call was made he got just enough to move the chains here's Rogers on First and 10 it's caught That's Mike Williams and he'll get it up to the 44 they get an even 10 on that play and it's good enough for a New York first down that is what Elite offenses are all about why worry about three Downs when you need only one move the chains in one play and keep driving that that defense backwards first down Rogers short pass caught by his tight end and he's going to get this up to the 45 before he's brought down he's just one of those guys Kate even when he's not open he's still a Target thanks to that physicality and his ability to just play bowly ball they don't like forcing into coverage but sometimes when you got a bully like him that could create space just find a way to get him the ball here we go second and nine rifles it and it's caught and he's able to get it past Midfield and down on the 49ers side all plays on the table here for third and [Applause] three again Rogers finds him is Target Hall and this one does not go far all you can do is shake your head sometimes sure the pass play works but they come up just an inch or two short for the first down so on fourth down the Jets turn to a fan favorite it's Thomas Morad to punt it [Applause] away and that's going to pin them and as deep as it can go they're going to be set up inside their own 5yd line Second Drive coming up for this 49ers offensive unit and so far they've executed exactly how they drew it up Rock Early lead no points allowed and a chance now to seize control of the game on their second possession and Kate generally offenses love to script their first 10 to 15 plays well this entire game script is playing out just the way they want to they'll start this one on the ground batt with maccaffrey and this buys him some much needed breathing room up across the five give him around six that's going to make it second and four that Run's not going to turn many heads but at the end of the year I promise you if you average over five yards a run you can be a pro bowler after a good pickup they've got second and four from the gun is birie that's brought in by Jenny's and that's good yardage there with a new set of downs to boot now after making that catch we see he's shaking up trainers heading out to take a look they'll keep this drive moving and come to the line for first and 10 C throwing here brought in by aou and this one gets to the 33 yd line before it stopped that's an 11 yd pickup and it gives them the first down I love throwing on first down and when you see a first down pass just like that it's taking advantage of a matchup you play stand for and you go out and execute ball at the 33 for first [Applause] down now'll try it right with mcaffrey and he found some Running Room for a nice game call it seven yds and now they'll have second down and three well that doesn't net a first down you get yards like that in the Run game you will take it in the NFL second and three now auk put in motion left working out of the gun it's pury CAU by the open man and they catch up to him but not until he's got a huge gain and a first down they're going to move the chains after a big play 39 yds you know K we often talk about flipping the field in special teams right a kick return a good punt well an explosive play like that does he exact same thing look at the difference in field position by hitting on that shot you've totally flipped the field in the tone of this drive now they'll hit the line just outside the Red Zone following that big play first down throw by pie reeled in by George KD and they had this down to the 11 before being marked down give him an even 10 yards on the play and that's a 49er first down they like to say it's about the jimmies and the Joe's I think that's about the x's and the O's that's a well drawn up completion that Nets them a first [Applause] down working inside the Red Zone he brings it CAU off a tackle but he lost the football and the fumble recovery is made wow oh wow he sent his offense out twice now and both times they fumbled it away I'm not sure who's more aggravated the dudes down there or the dude next to me up here well I'm aggravated but I know the guy on the field wants to put the offense in the dogghouse like all of them right now this can't happen in the NFL Kate and a lot of guys out there they got to be looking to one another hold each other accountable to hold on to the [Applause] ball they're out in set first and [Applause] 10 they start the drive with Hall and he won't win the race to the outside that runs bottled up at the line no progress on first down and that'll bring up second and 10 you know Kate over the years I've heard running backs say there's just times you got to run in the darkness and when linebackers fill that hole like that right in the middle of the field he ran right into the darkness and the pain of that linebacker out of his End Zone Rogers tight end has it across the middle and they get there to touch him down Brock but a big gain on that play you know I love those chunk completions they're so critical those chunk plays they lead statistically so often to scoring and then when you get it to a tight end and play action it's just a little icing on the cake to the air here on first down Rogers tight end reels in the sh throw and he'll push this up field and earn them a new set of downs I think my favorite part was the magic he worked after the catch the way he took the completion and made so much more out of it by adding all the extra yardage first down ball at the [Applause] 36 Rogers here off the play action throw complete to Williams and the tackle is made just beyond Midfield at the 48 he finds him 16 yds and a new set of downs you want to become a quarterback's best friend do that turn a short little gain a short little pass into some yards after catch and that quarterback will find you again first and 10 ball set up at the 48 now'll throw again Rogers and his perfect start is over that's the first one of his throws to wind up incomplete oh that drop is such a bummer because it ruins the payoff of such a well-design play Kate got the man open Beat the coverage then you got to go finish it you got to go make that catch I will say keep that one in mind they could revisit that play in the future throwing again it's Rogers it's taken in by Williams he'll move the sticks after ripping off a gain of 28 they've run this 12y out route gate at the combine well all the way back to last century when I had to throw it in this throw this a Big Boy Throw it's a differentiator can you make that deep out throw on time on Rhythm and accurately well that was teaching tape right [Applause] there a first opportunity for the Jets now inside the Red Zone they've got first and 10 from the 20 throwing once again Rogers got it and he will score it's a New York touchdown the Jets get it down to a single point Bree Hull with a touchdown so the offense showing a slightly different dimension there Brock getting the running back involved with his hands for the touchdown yeah such an advantage I think when you think about it Kate it really is about the 80s where we start to see these running backs not just tote the ball as Runners but be real weapons when they get the ball in the passing game that's well done Greg Zer line for the point after try that one splits the uprights and we're all kned up [Applause] it's all lined up morstead ready to send this fly turning it from the four he stopped on the return at the 27 the San Francisco offense headed out to take over they watch their fumble turn into points so feeling maybe a little bit of an urge to make up for that now in this [Applause] series offense ready to begin this drive first and 10 motioning one of the tight ends on the ground to begin the drive with mcaffrey and a couple of teammates combining there for the stop after just one yard okay that's a run that's whole hum on the stat sheet but if you see a bigger play on the ground later on largely be because of a play just like that one softening up the front and opening the door for a bigger Gap in the future they'll come to the line here second and nine white outs getting involved in the ground game and they'll get there and stop him at the line no gain here after a gain of only one and now they'll face third and nine this wide receiver Run game what it really does Kate is it tests the soundness of your defense how assignment sound are you well that was an excellent example of this defense doing its work on the practice field and more importantly put into execution on the game field the Jets get there and bring him down and the defense comes through that's going to back him up and bring up fourth down sometimes I wish everybody could feel what that feels like when you're a QB and you just feel the air in the pocket getting sucked out and you know there's no Escape it can be just one heck of a deflating feeling not for that defense who puts a sack on the board it's a punt coming from the ners on fourth down and Mitch snowski out to boot it away he sends this away and oh this is going to be a field flipper and they bring him down to put a stop to that return it's a 61 yd punt that time and it'll be Jets football first down ball at the 36 working out of the gun it's Rogers malikai Corley reels it in and they'll take him down at the 43 yd line the stop made that time by the rookie from Florida State part of the reason I Leave You pregame Kate and get down to that field and watch these guys throw and catches I want to see their timing I want to see see their anticipation that is Picture Perfect right there a Crossing route thrown that quickly tells me these two are on the same page the give on second to Hall and he's brought down after a nice gain and a first down it's got to be so demoralizing as a defense when you go up against a running back who just keeps those legs churning like a piston in an engine and that effort's contagious this entire offense is getting a boost and he busts those tackles [Applause] going to the ground again on First and he'll bow his way ahead for a four- yd pickup well I'll steal a line from one of my buddies but I'm going to quote him Mark sler two times Super Bowl winner says if you want to run the ball you got to keep running the ball and that's a perfect example of it don't get tired don't get mad at gaining four yards it's a run that can set up even more in the Run game Rogers here here from the gun got Williams and it's complete and he's tackled with a first down yardage that's just great instincts go air it out on second down rather than just play conservative and run it they hit a weak point in the coverage and don't need to worry about third down at all it's a new set of downs for him at the 32 throwing on first down Rogers bails out of the pocket quick now here he goes and he's able to drive this to the 29 before the stop just not much to do right there whether he wanted to run it or throw it even if he scraped a positive gain out of it that's still a win for this defense second down now seven to go from the 29 into the hands of Concklin and they can't bring him down until he gets into that Red Zone at the 19 they get an even 10 on that play and it'll give the Jets a first down I'm sure coach a play caller doesn't mind making the job a little bit easier you know play calling a lot simpler and easier when you count on the offense to move the chains on those early Downs toss play this is Hall and he's brought down for a loss he range range is not an optional feature for middle linebackers in today's game uh-uh it's a prerequisite for the job and this guy definitely has it follow that play from the start and he ended it with a loss offense to the line for second down play fake it's [Applause] Rogers this one to Williams out left side and he goes out approaching that 10yd line [Applause] short yardage situation here it's third and two from the shotgun Rogers complete beyond the marker and this one stopped at the three yd line nyd pick up and it sets him up with first and goal [Applause] that's the end of our first quarter three more to go still on Monday night both teams neck and neck so far back to Levon Stadium right after this back now for the second quarter and the Jets they've got to look towards that end zone H's going to try to smash his way in and he will take it in touchdown New York the Jets take a second quarter lead Bree Hull with the touchdown so Brock this offense starting to find its Rhythm a bit as they finish things with a touchdown there to give him the lead and the key word there that you said is finish because you want to have that mindset even an early game that field goals aren't going to cut it so that's great work to make sure they finish with six points zerline on now for the extra [Applause] point that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] it's all lined up morstead ready to send this [Applause] fly fielded at the seven and in the end he's able to get it to what used to be a touch back it's at the 25 after the return well we've already seen some nice plays here and we're going to see plenty more before this game ends but you might be thinking with plays like that my guy's ratings should be better well you're not alone you got a chance to let the Madden ratings hotline know just what you're thinking give them a call 1844 Madden one and make your case for who should get a boost they'll get this drive started first and 10 [Applause] from the gun is pie got a man mcaffrey has it and they touch him down looks to be about four yds short of the six translatable skills that's what you call it so effective as a runner but those same traits that make him a great Runner Adept at getting those yards well he translates it now as a receiver in the open field after a good pickup they've got second and four shotgun that for pie escapes a Defender and that's good yardage with a new set of downs year after year the best offenses are multifaceted it's not just the receivers or the tight ends that can make plays through the air when you get running backs that can attack the middle of the field like that man it's a difficult on the defense from the 44 yd line now first and [Applause] 10 working out of the gun it's p [Applause] this Ball's CAU by maccaffrey and he's taken down directly on that 43 yd line give him 13 on that play and it brings up a San Francisco first down this running back is a mismatch maker that's how I label him on my little sheet right here right under his bio this guy just creates matchup nightmares for every defender on the field [Applause] to throw again it's pie right side and that's secured by KD and he's marked down looks like at the 32 yd line give him 11 yds Brock and a fresh set of downs sure seems like he knew exactly what he wanted and he got it going right where he wanted to with the ball off the snap it's a new set of downs for him at the 32 [Applause] trying an inside give now with mcaffrey and into a sea of bodies he goes looks like they'll get about three out of it you know not a ton of yards but still showing that commitment to the ground game a type of run that keeps the defense from loading up in coverage and focusing entirely on that passing game second down now seven to [Applause] go that's brought in by Jenny and this one doesn't go [Applause] far here they come this is third and [Applause] five now pie that's caught for the first and he's brought down they're going to Mark him at the 14 12 yds on that play and a good call Nets him the first that's what we call situational football you spend all week working on your nickel passing game package to take advantage of third Downs just like that all set up now for first and [Applause] 10 maccaffrey running between the tackles and this is down to the 5 yd line before they can stop him give him nine yds he almost moved the chains there it's going to be second and one so much to like about that run Kate particularly what he was able to get out of it the defense I think feels a little fortunate they were able to track him down before an even bigger run in Crossing that first down marker Cy to throw it has it in close and he'll get them enough for for a first down look up contested catch in the football dictionary and you'll see that I mean I can't critique the defense there they're in the Hip Pocket of that tight end but these contested catches these tight ends that can separate with their hands utilize their body even when you're covered you're not pretty throwing here the best got it and he will score it's a s Francisco touchdown the 49ers can tie it up in the second after cutting into the lead Christian mcaffrey the touchdown he hung in there as long as he could a lot of quarterbacks would have bailed out and it was it was what you talk about Brock that courage that kept the chance for the touchdown alive yeah that touchdown is going to show up on his stat sheet making the catch or the quarterback stat sheet for making the throw but can we put some touchdowns up there for the big boys up front it was their blocking and by of time for that play that led to the score so we've got a stoppage now figured this might be coming we're going to take another look to see if this was indeed a touchdown o it doesn't get much closer than this Brock did that ball in any way break the plan of the end zone you know how I like to look at this Kate imagine a plane of glass going from the front end of that end zone straight in the air in any part of the ball any part of it just touches the plane of that glass and this is a touchdown all right so the officials take that touchdown away he did not break the goal line Second Chance at six here it's second and goal now it's pie and he will score touchdown San Francisco the 49ers can tie it up in a second after cutting into the lead George K to touchdown when you reach the status that he has around the league Brock well we all at this point expect him to be making plays like this when he's targeted down near the end zone yeah I think the best thing I can say about this dude is he makes it look Easy A lot of the time and this game trust me is never easy it speaks to how well he plays this position that one splits the uprights and we're all tied up [Applause] out to kick it away here's moody this one's fielded at the four yd line they'll have decent field position to begin with here Brock he tackled just beyond that 30 yd line the Jets and Bree Hall about set to go on offense and after the impressive drive we just witness you got to imagine that they are hoping to respond with something similar yeah and I don't love to use the word can'ts right but this can't be a three and out for this offense right here they got to give their defense a chance to catch a breath and turn some of the momentum in the building they've got first down from the 31 out the play fake here's Rogers and he overshoots his man it's incomplete Garrett Wilson the intended receiver and that'll bring up second down here defensive coaches preach this all the time about not giving up the big play keep everything in front of you they're going to need to stay vigilant because he's definitely receiver who can take the lid off of a [Applause] defense to throw again on second down Rogers has his man it's Corley and he rips off good yardage but it will not move the chains it takes a certain level of fearlessness craziness to work over the middle of the field in this league you're fighting through guys eyes as you go and all the while you know you could take a liit at any time here we go third and less than a yard they'll try to run for it with Hall and they've got him behind the line for a big loss third and inches and you hate to see that run go backwards I just take myself back to a huddle and you know you're employing your guys listen just give us a little bit of a push and we will move the sticks instead well the defense energized with that stop Thomas morstead on the punt and this will be his second effort of the contest got 44 yards on his first kick Brock and this one looks to be longer and they bring him down to put a stop to that return the 49ers headed back out on offense as we get another look at Brock pie and we're all hoping his hot start can continue he has been putting up some numbers ear early in this contest Drive starts out with a first and 10 looking to throw pie into the hands of Samuel complete and that's good yardage there with a new set of downs to boot I know the combine tries to test everything it possibly can physically but I don't know how you test courage at the combine because there's nobody defending you nobody wants to hit you but that was the epitome of courage to make that in cut and make the catch here's first and 10 from the 34 back to throw here's pury brought in by auk and he's downed after getting this up to the 41 that is the epitome of staying on schedule that kind of completion right there on first down well it opens up the entirety of the playbook for second down a third and short in your back pocket you can get even more aggressive and take that shot second and three now sending a tight end in motion left play action now with pie that one is caught left side of the field and they finally bring him down but that is a big gain and a new set of downs excellent pick up to move the chains 36 yds in the end one thing we don't have in football is we don't have that radar gun but if we did Kate this is the kind to throw when you throw it that deep outside the numbers that requires a serious fast ball serious arm strength and he just showed it off now they'll hit the line just outside the Red Zone following that big play first down throw by pie that's caught at the FL and they're going to take this in for the San Francisco touchdown the 49ers take a second quarter lead de Samuel the touchdown his second scoring catch of the game a second touchdown through the air for and Brock an independent of the game situation we both know he's going to be happy to leave the field with two of them in one game one touchdown you just might be right time right place but two touchdowns in a game is always about the preparation the separations of the preparation it's doing that work on the practice field and knowing before the game that when my number's called I'm going to be there to deliver that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] out to kick it away here's Moody Xavier Gibson now to return and he's going to make this to the 28 before going down now here comes the New York offense and they a touchdown back Bron as they take over down 2114 and the drive will start out with a first and 10 they'll start this one out with Hall and he's only able to power this forward for about three yards you they got some positive yards that's a good thing but too many plays like that it just is too hard to pile together get first downs it gets the better defenses in this lead second down now seven to go from the 31 got Williams and it's complete and he's out of bounds beyond the 35 yd line I know I could sound like a broken record when I talk about timing and getting the ball out on time and on Rhythm but these out cuts it is so imperative and the best of them make it look oh so easy third down one yd to go Rogers here off the play action he's one to Williams out left side and the tackle is made just beond Midfield at the 48 they'll get 14 yds and a new set of downs good offenses okay good play callers know how to utilize their personnel they know where they wanted him they wanted him on a route in space where he could make that initial play comfortably but then go to work after first and 10 ball set up at the 48 from the shotgun Rogers cockin brings it in it's a gain of 12 there and it's good enough for a New York first down Kate I can't tell you how good that is anticipating the outcut having the ball on the way before the receiver's head even turns he puts it on him so that receiver can easily get out of bounds for the nice game they'll throw again Rogers he goes back to him yet again complete and that tackle stops him after a solid [Applause] game after a good pickup they've got second and [Applause] four Wilson's got it and this is down to the 28 before the defense hals it well he saw his guys pick up the blitz well he felt them pick it up anyway if he wouldn't looking at him but with their effort on his behalf I think this QB felt owed to them in the group up front to find somebody to get a completion so that effort up front wasn't in vain third and just two to go hand off running left here's Hall and that short gain is enough for a new set of downs you love a huddle Kate you really do you love a huddle full of guys like this who just know how to keep the drive moving forward there's some trust there he's going to get the job done and he's going to get another shot I would guess down the line they'll come up first and 10 play action with Rogers flushed out of the pocket and they get to him as he was trying to make something happen and the big play drives them backwards second down coming up hey God bless the Ted Washingtons Casey Hampton's viid will Forks all them run stuffers back in the day but the D tackles of today you not only have to step the run you have to eat up the pass too and that D tackle just got it done all right here we go second down they'll go right side with Hall and he'll only get this to the 26 before going down two yards on the Run but a tough spot upcoming we've got third and 12 Rogers here from the gun and the 409ers get there and take him down and the defense comes through to back him up ahead of fourth down the best defensive ends in the NFL they don't need to win sustained battles to get home nope sometimes Kate all they need is one quick move and they're into the back field blowing it up so the Jets are going to try a field goal on fourth down Greg zerline headed out this will be from 52 yds and this kick is good he needed to get all of it there and he did and it's dropped back down now to a four-point game a lot of them may make it look automatic but you get this deep and those field goals are far from a certainty it took all this concentration every bit of his strength to send that puppy through [Applause] we've got a good one here they've cut the lead to four as they send it away has this at the six this return makes it up to the 25 the 49ers are being led back out there on offense by their quarterback and he sure has put on that chef's hat to dice up their defense early in this one quite the appetizer that he's prepared to what could be a great overall [Applause] performance they're out and set first and 10 they bring the tight end in motion shotgun hand off to mcaffrey Duke the defender and he crosses the sideline a yard or two Beyond it looks like the 30 good run gets him seven that brings up second and three that does not show up on any explosive stat sheet but let me tell you Kate that's the real deal right there you run for that kind of yardage consistently in the NFL you do set yourself up for success from the 32 that finds Z complete and he finishes off the Play by taking it in touchdown the 49ers now lead by 10 it's a Brandon auk touchdown and that Brock I know you're keeping track but just in case our audience is it his fourth first half passing touchdown at the pace he's on this would be a new record if he has a second half to match this one on is Moody for the extra point that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead out to kick it away here's Moody returning it from the four and the return sets them up just beyond their own 20 the Jets have their offense ready to go again and down double digits Brock field goals like we saw in their last Drive aren't going to move the needle as much as they need [Applause] to defense ready to begin this drive first and 10 get to hall now on the option and they'll bring him down after a pretty short game it's a gain of three for him that brings up second and seven looking out of the gun it's Rogers able to find Corley and he pushes it up across the 30 before going [Applause] out all plays on the table here for third and three off play action Rogers it's taken in by Williams and he'll go down after fighting his way to the 32 here we go here's one of those game situations it just puts a smile on my face cuz I can think from Pop Warner to the NFL everybody on the field thinking the same thing can we go for it can we get one more shot as you end up just short on that third down so it's the two-minute warning here from the home of the faithful and it's the Jets looking at Fourth and an inch or two punt team is on now and they get this away he has it at the 22 and they bring him down to put a stop to that return the 49ers headed back out on offense their quarterback returning to the field now and at the pace he's begun the game throwing the football Brock he is in line for a special type of performance if they need to keep throwing it until the end [Applause] they'll get this drive started first and 10 shotgun snap for pie fires down the middle and it is CS and he does quite a bit of damage before they finally take him down I tried to remind you a time or two Kate that you always got to start your read from the secondary four you got to see what the safeties are doing if you're going to throw a ball in the middle third deep down field like that you have to have tremendous awareness of where those safeties were and the QB just nailed it first and 10 after that last highlights they're at the 30 working out of the gun it's pie short pass caught by his tight end and they can't bring him down until he gets into that Red Zone at the 19 pick up of 12 on that play and that's a 49er first down well they sure found the right route at the right time to hit the soft spot in that coverage and that slant it goes for big yardage pry throwing here on first completed here to mcaffrey and he's able to get this down to the 13 we get a timeout here taken by the 49ers that's going to be their first they'll have two left to work with before halftime halfway to the marker it's second and five to throw again it's pie he had a for a moment but a great defensive play to jar it Loose incomplete it arrived as the ball did to break things up and it'll be third and five coming up see the pass time up your hit and jar that ball loose not a lot of players are hanging on through a well-placed hit like that one third and short here's pie he brings it in and they'll get this down nearly to the end zone instead St at the [Applause] two four downs now to get in here's first and goal from the gun is pie and got his man that's a San Francisco touchdown the 49ers get more points to end a lopsided first half all right partner what do you think was that a design read or did he just see space and he was reacting more on the old quarterback Instinct there yes I think yes on both of them and that play happens so fast that it really is instincts on both sides on is Moody for the extra [Applause] point that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] out to kick it away here's Moody starting from the five he stopped on the return at the 27 the Jets returning their offense in this running back to the field not a whole lot of time left for him to put something together here before the [Applause] break the clock reads 24 seconds now as the final drive of this half begins throwing on first down Rogers he throws a bullet deep to the right side a good defensive play breaks that one up so second down coming up I think we're seeing why this defense likes him in coverage he reacts so well to throws and is even more Adept in breaking up those passes couldn't connect on first it's second [Applause] down not taking any risks here keeping this one on the ground and he found some Running Room for a nice game now we're going to get an offensive timeout that's their first they'll have two left to work with before [Applause] halftime and the 49ers in a nickel set third down coming Rogers to throw Corley reels it in and they catch CH to him but not until he's got a huge gain and a first [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] down now Rogers escapes the pocket stepping up and he's going to run now just before the break a timeout taken by the offense and they could trve for some points going into the [Applause] break Greg zerline going to try to knock this through for the Jets made his first one this is a little over 40 and that one is good a little longer but no problem at all and that lowers the deficit to 15 okay one of the areas that kickers and quarterbacks are similar they want to get into Rhythm and no better way to feel good and get into that Rhythm and start a game two for two as a kicker [Applause] well Brock Barn the Touchback this kickoff should run out the half so better make that return good as it's away and he opts not to bring this one out so they're going to enjoy some good starting field position from the 30 one last play before the break yep as expected they go to the ground to start this one off and he has a decent gain on what's going to be the final report all yours coach take it away okay Kate thanks very much and with that we welcome you all into our EA Sports Studios this is the halftime report we saw a fine performance in the first half from the former Mr Irrelevant Rock Birdie the numbers boggled the on five count of five first half touchdown passes that is getting near record territory with a whole another half still to play out to kick it away here's Moody here's a return from the seven he stopped on the return at the 27 so here's the Jets offense getting ready to start our third quarter and some opening drive points would be invaluable Brock trailing by two scores as they leave that locker room [Applause] Drive starts out with a first and 10 to throw is Rogers here's one left side he's got it complete pass a big play 23 yds to move those chains you know it sure seems like he knew exactly where he was going with that before the snap that's a pre- snap decision that led to a post Snap first down one play in and this drive is already in enemy [Applause] territory they start the half with a give to Hall and they're all over him again he's dropped at the line of scrimmage no gain there that time and it's second and 10 you want to see the term read and react with a little video in the football dictionary that's it second and 10 need to get some positive yardage here Rogers will look to throw wow very quick throw but they couldn't connect hey I know nobody's perfect and all you have to do is listen to me and how many words I screw up but you certainly expect those throws of that length to be 100% they've got to be borderline automatic in this offense so after that prior incompletion we've got third down here's Rogers that's to the sideline it's a catch by Williams and he'll have it down to the 44 yd line you can earn your money in the NFL in all sorts of different ways but defensively in a league where you're just not hitting as much a training camp you're not tackling as much as they got to in the old days and you can make a play in the open field keep it short like that I promise you some money will follow Hunter takes the field on fourth down and he sends this one flying and this is the punt you want every time he bounces out of bounds and sticks him inside their own 10 the home teams ready for their next series L out on offense by their quarterback and the type of game that he has been putting together wow we're going to see some of these highlights now Brock and I expect a lot of times over the next week too he has thrown this offense to the end zone time and again what a showing this is one of the elite games that we have seen from him and the drive will start out with a first and 10 they'll start the second half with mcaffrey oh he lost the football and this is going to be a turnover the Defense Forces the big play well that didn't take long Brock One play and they're back out there well that's how a defense can make you awfully happy as an offensive player especially when you screw it up and you fumble the defense picks up that offense and puts him right back on the field the Jets and mik so just like all touchdowns all turnovers also reviewed and they want to take another look at this one all right so we all know what we're looking for here Brock where did an elbow maybe a knee something touch down and as it does is the ball loose at that point yeah throw in forearm wrist Shin there's no question the offensive guy screaming something hit the ground while the defense is hoping it didn't take that fumble away the officials overturn the call and say he was down after a good pickup they're set up with second and short here's pie to throw got him in McCaffrey has it and he'll pick up enough to move the chains move the chains got to move them chains build momentum and keep that defense on its heels [Applause] to the line we go they're set first and 10 cie looking to throw that's taken in by Samuel and he's going to get this up to the 26 before being taken down that's what you call efficiency exactly what you're looking for on first down textbook it sets up second and very manageable and then creates that space if you want to take a shot down field nice spot here for the offense it's second and [Applause] one throwing with a blitz on the way tight end reels in the shallow throw and this one gets to the 33 yd line before it stopped a seveny pickup and it moves the chains and those are the completions they rely on from their passing game ball at the 33 for first down back to throw here's pie he'll get this to Samuel and he'll get taken down after advancing this to the 37 that's a pretty similar result to a first down Run play moves It Forward keeps he on schedule and makes second and third down a whole lot easier to manage second and Six coming up here motioning the tight end left second and six now this one is tipped away and incomplete good positioning to make a play on it that forces third down you know as a QB I'm going to note that in the back of my head that was a heck of a break knocks the ball away DBS like that they tend to once they get one hand on the ball have a pretty good beat on you and can get two hands on it the next time on third down pie complete beyond the marker and the tackle is made just beyond Midfield at the 48 the end result there 15 yds and a first you know they call that the money down for a reason because you're just simply not going to last long in the NFL if you don't convert a good portion of your third Downs it's a money down and nice to see them roll the dice and continue the series first and 10 ball set up at the 48 looking to throw pie caught by Jennings and he's brought down after pushing to that 35 yd line it's a 13 yd play and that's enough for the first Kate when Bill Walsh was implementing the drag route with the 49ers in the 80s it sounded the same way as it did with Mike hren and me with the Seahawks in the 2000s versus man on a drag route run away you see Zone coverage settle down give your quarterback his numbers and you can find a completion just just like that pie on first down and they bring him down looks like he got it to the 27 good luck defending that short yardage slant just not going to happen there's a reason this is a go-to play for just about any quarterback in every situation after a good pickup they're set up with second and short here's mcaffrey pick up of two here and he brings up a San Francisco first down hey Kate you want to see a picture in the football dictionary of staying on schedule that was it up to the line and they're set first and 10 a tight end in motion now first down throw by pie brought in by aayu and he gets this down to the 13 yd line it's a gain of 12 there and that's a 49er first down nice to see that connection that chemistry working between the two of them a new set of downs awaits them here's first and 10 working inside the Red Zone this throw is caued and they're going to take this in for the San Francisco touchdown the 49ers push their lead further to start the half Deo Samuel to touchdown his third through the air this game that is his sixth passing score of the game a lot of quarterbacks could go several weeks without throwing that many touchdowns and now keep in mind he's only one off the NFL record of seven in a single game on is Moody for the extra point that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] [Applause] out to kick it away here's Moody return coming from the six and a decent return ends as they bring him down inside the 30 the Jets offense Now set to take over and I'm sure they're tired of bringing out the punter Brock they're hopefully going to give him some rest this time around and find some points to go after to that [Applause] lead they're out and set first and [Applause] 10 play fake it's Rogers got his man on the end complete and they finally bring him down but that is a big gain and a new set of downs that chunk worth a nice 21 yards and it'll give the Jets a first [Applause] down one play in and already they're close to [Applause] Midfield Paul takes it straight ahead he gets a couple on First and they'll come up second and eight [Applause] [Applause] here's Hall once more and he got it real close but stopped just about a yard or so shy that first down I'm not kidding you Kate a run of that length at the NFL level honestly is the equivalent of a run of 15 plus at the high school level it's hard in the Run game to make yards and they just got a very successful one third and a lone yard coming up they go right back to Hall and he's dropped just short of the marker maybe a yard away [Applause] [Applause] less than a yard needed here on [Applause] four he'll go for it Rogers he finds him beyond the marker and he takes it inside the 35 before heading out that's a clutch seveny pickup and it pays off the call to go for it on fourth down I love those moments of Truth we get to see exactly how they handle it when all the pressure that drives right on him turns out handled it pretty darn well and now they'll keep pushing on to the air here on first down Rogers quick hitter complete and he's brought down after a short [Applause] game eight yds to go let's see how they approach this second down now Rogers to throw into the hands of cockin and he takes this one nearly to the Red Zone before going out that's a pickup of nine and it's good enough for a New York first down it sure seemed like he knew exactly where he was going with that right off the snap still on the Move coming to the line for first and 10 off the play fake here's Rogers that one is incomplete couldn't hang on through the contact Garrett Wilson the intended receiver and we'll see what they do here on second down well that was almost one of those nice chunk plays you like to see in the NFL Kate before he was able to recover and provide the hit and ultimately dislodge the football you like to see that physical Edge and scrappiness to contest any kind of shot plays down the field finds a big Lane and he's going to have this all the way down to the four and even 20 yds on the play and it Awards them with a first and goal those unsung heroes those big guys up front on the o line well let's give them a little love right here Kate they don't always get the attention they deserve on the broadcast but let me tell you they played a huge role in that big old [Applause] run they'll break the Huddle and come up on first and goal from the red zone now and he will score touchdown New York the Jets shrinking the lead some in the third they were throwing for it there and they didn't care who knew about it Brock and it turns out hey nothing was going to stop him either yeah there's something about an empty formation you are declaring to a defense other than QB draw this ball is going to be in the air but at the same time you also Force the defense's hand there's only so many coverage as they can play and they just exposed them now the Jets keeping the offense on the field they're going to go for two Rogers trying to throw for it oh and he's got a man Open complete ooh and he can't shake the defense they track him down in the back field and this two-point attempt fails [Applause] for [Applause] it's all lined up morstead ready to send this flying fielded at the seven coverage team gets him down at the 26 yd line now out comes the San Francisco offense and all the touchdowns are sure going to catch some eyes around the league but sure not unexpected for those of us who saw how well well he was throwing it back when he got his first couple of scores yeah and if anything he's only continued to improve and play better as this defense tried and tried and failed and failed to find any way to slow him down offense ready to begin this drive first and 10 from the gun is pie that finds zou complete and he'll go down after pushing this up to the 29 I feel so bad I really do and I don't mean this sarcastically Kate I feel bad for these guys in coverage I don't know how you defend some of these players today because they get that drag route they get one step inside of you well there's very little you can do other than make the tackle shotgun snap for pie Defender arrives right as the ball does and the hit knocks it free incomplete I think that was a throw Kate that just came a little bit too late what it did is it gave that defense time to come up and deliver a pop and knock the ball loose before he could secure it fully last pass unsuccessful and they have third down here working out of the gun it's py he's on the Move he'll make a bid for it on the ground and he'll push this up field and earn them a new set of downs you know these are the type of plays that really get an offense going this is a chance for QB to inspire the guys around him calling his own number carrying his teammates to a first down on that big run that inflates an offense and it can suck the wind out of that defense pretty throwing here on first escapes the pockets trying to get away from the pressure but he can't and they drop him and the big play drives them backwards second down coming up that sure ended up being a worst case scenario pass rush just kept coming and coming and bearing down and he was looking for an escape that wasn't there it's just one of those plays in hindsight Kate where you really got to understand I got got to cut bait cut my losses and avoid such a Negative play Let's see what they dial up on a second and very long another try following the sack that won't be caught out right it's incomplete perhaps a bit late breaking towards the ball but still just enough time you get a finger on it and knock it away no connection on the last play and outs Third Down Pie looking to throw rolling left finding some time look at how well the coverage held up on that play even as a QB escapes the pocket and buys extra time to secondary well they got real sticky stay tight and force the throw away the 49ers are lined up in punt formation and this is the second time he's been brought on to kick it his first effort wi 47 yds Brock looks to have a little more into this one and they bring him down to put a stop to that that return the visitors and this running back headed back out for a new series and those legs must be tired but he ain't stopping Brock not with the type of game that he's been having for himself on the [Applause] ground nice field position for the Jets as they come up first and 10 they start the drive with Hall and that carry only Mets one on the plunge up the gut now after the run we see some trainers headed out for an injured player who was shaken up they'll come to the line here second and nine working out of the gun it's Rogers he had it for a moment but a great defensive play to jar it Loose incomplete ball and Defender arrived at the exact same time there so now it's going to be third and long as a defense you got to see the pass you got to time up your hit and you got to jar that ball loose not a lot of offensive players are hanging on to that one through a well-placed hit Rogers throwing on third down that's caught for the first and they finally bring him down but that is a big gain and a new set of downs a big play 23 yds to move those chains it was such a privilege for me to watch Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne in person in Indianapolis do their work Daryl jacks out in Seattle they showed how great a deep out is as a chain moving Play It's all about getting that leverage at the top of the route and then exploiting the leverage as that ball arrives on time down field only one quarter remains in our final game of the week that's the end of the third the Jets have it put some work to do in the final frame they're trailing new set of downs for him at the eight Wilson's got it and he's short of the first after a mild game you know Kate over the years I heard defensive coordinators say hey you got to earn the right to rush the passer you got to earn the right for me to call blitzes and when you call a blitz and you don't get home and you don't hit the quarterback you've earned nothing after a good pickup they've got second and four [Applause] again Rogers he'll dump this one off to his running back complete and they bring him down after the play reaches the 26 he gets six on that play and it'll give the Jets a first down I call this quarterback's best friend some call it a safety valve some call it automatic but it's sure nice as a quarterback when you got a trusty running back over the middle of the field that you can depend on coming right is Hall and they're all over him again he's dropped at the line of scrimmage call it no gain on that run and they face second and 10 made it all look so simple didn't he that linebacker sorting right through the traffic finding the runner that's instincts come to life second and 10 need to get some positive yardage here pressure comes Rogers that's complete to Wilson and he's going to be off to the 17 yd [Applause] [Music] [Applause] line third down one yd to go this is Hall and he's tackled with a first down yardage win the early battle get a little leverage low man wins off the line and that's all that was needed to ensure that first down right [Applause] there they're now set for first and [Applause] 10 from the shotgun Rogers the throw is caught and he'll go down shy the endzone they Mark him at the four Kate one thing I learned from the late great Mike Leech is yeah the system was called air raid but it wasn't is n just attacking downfield his philosophy and it played out right there is you have to attack every inch of the field both vertically and horizontally without routes or in routes just like that Rogers here from the gun that's much too high and out of the end zone incomplete there's the importance of staying in Phase as a Defender he was all over him in coverage and that really did help Force the incompletion [Applause] so after that prior incompletion we've got third [Applause] down throwing now from the gun and he will score it's a New York touchdown the Jets can make it a one- score game as they trim the lead Garrett Wilson with the touchdown well they definitely wanted to get that one out quick Brock they did just that and it ends in six we hear it all the time but it is so true Kate this is a game about matchups and when you see a throw that quick it really was determined pre- snap it was great design and tremendous execution huge moment here for the Jets as they go for two they'll throw again Rogers and that pass is caught they get the two points and a little drama now we've got ourselves a one- score ball game no dice the first time they tried it but this time Brock the two-point conversion is successful just felt like they were waiting for the right opportunity to try it once again not only to make up for the first attempt but establish a little confidence from this spot and who knows maybe we'll have a two-pointer that plays a bigger role when this thing's all said and done all right that lead cut down to eight after that score and the kick is away his return starts at the five and he's going to make this to the 28 before going down this offense and their quarterback making their way back out there ready to take over once again and like we've seen from him before Brock he got a good game going early through the air and kept the pressure up from then on he's still taking it to him now as we work through this second [Applause] half they'll get this drive started first and 10 now pie nothing there left side as it ends up incomplete that one intended for Brandon auk so it's second down coming up well Kate that wasn't a fast enough break for the interception but it was good enough and a good enough break to break on the ball get a finger on it and force the incompletion back to the air on second pie tight end reels in the shallow throw and they're going to bring him down just beyond the 30 at the 31 well that's a modest little drag route but if you ever just need a safe short gain on a throw that's a go-to route to Target it's third and eight need to get a chunk here [Applause] cie to throw it complete beyond the marker and he's brought down after a nice gain and a first down well that is pretty darn impeccable timing between the two to hit a curl route of that length it takes great anticipation and precision by the quarterback and the receiver on the other end finishing it doing his [Applause] job the 44 yd line now first and 10 to throw again it's pie he'll get that to his fullback complete and not much doing he stopped quickly remember talking to Jim Harbaugh one time and Bo shim Beckler asked him when he was a head coach you have a tight end with his hand on the ground yes coach you have a fullback still on your roster yes coach then you're going to be just fine eight yds to go let's see how they approach this second down they sent a tight end in motion on second down here's mcaffrey and he has it to the 42 before they make the stop they'll move the chains after that pick up of 12 offensive coordinators tell us all the time big runs only happen with coordinated efforts great Block in the springham guys hitting blocks downfield and a back who can show off his wheels [Applause] pie on first down why not go back to it again if it's working complete and he's marked down looks like at the 32 yd line they come through with a nice gain there gain of 10 first down yeah these in Cuts maybe aren't the hardest throws from a degree of difficulty Kate but it does take some courage as a quarterback to throw into congested spaces but it can pay big dividends [Applause] first down throw by pie rifles it and it's caught and he's got a decent gain before being brought down every once in a while it's fine to be conservative on first down especially when you get enough to stay on schedule and get a little something coming out of it too halfway to the marker it's second and five [Applause] play action now with pie and he will score it's a San Francisco touchdown the 49ers have a commanding 14-point lead now in the fourth Deo Samuel the touchdown a fourth for him in this game and one more time the record and someone has officially flown higher than the Dutchman Brock that completion pushes him past Norm van Brockton for the most passing yards in a game in NFL history The Mark of 554 yards and stood resolut since back in 1951 and seven decades later someone has finally topped [Applause] it that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] [Applause] out to kick it away here's Moody has this at the six he's brought down at what looks like the 24 yd line the visitors back out on offense they're running back headed out once again and he finds himself across an important Benchmark for yards this season after that last drive he stayed pretty busy this season and the numbers show just that [Applause] Drive starts out with a first and 10 to throw Rogers short pass caught by his tight end and he's tackled after gaining a handful quarterbacks will look for their tight end short in just about any situation they take away the deeper options well there's their consistent source of positive yardage the trusty tight end halfway to the marker it's second and five from the 29 this is reeled in by Wilson and he's going to bring it up to the 40 yd line before he stopped that's an 11 yd pickup and it gives them the first down as a quarterback when you throw that curl route you know it's a tight window Kate but the minute that DB turns it can't react to the throw you put it right on your receiver's num as he comes back and gets it and moves the sticks [Applause] Hall running between the tackles and he Powers through the middle for a gain of four he'll expect more from himself on those type of plays but there is nobody that's going to complain about that one if you can do math four + 4 plus 4 equals a first down second and Six coming up here now Rogers that's incomplete trying to set up the screen there he Kate I know it's unrealistic to expect a 100% completion rate from anywhere on the field but in this close you really shouldn't be missing too many throws those need to be borderline automatic last pass unsuccessful and they have third down [Applause] here throwing from the gun and that one's incomplete for now it brings up fourth let's see what this penalty flag is all about [Applause] tempting to perhaps take the yards and run third down again partner but they decline it that's going to bring up fourth [Applause] down fourth down drive on the line with this snap they'll go for it Rogers that's brought in by Lazar and that tackle stops him after a solid game and they drag him down just in time he's shy of the marker it's a turnover on Downs I think every analytics book out there Kate said you got to go for it you're in four down territory down a couple scores here in the fourth but now it's all about the defense can the defense come with a quick turnover a stop to somehow some way spark a comeback the home teams and BR and auk running onto the field and I think they'd be content doing everything the same as their prior drive and getting another touchdown here first and 10 from a yard shy of Midfield shotgun snap for pie that one is in in complete couldn't hang on through the contact couldn't find Debo Samuel on that throw and now it's second down you know he's not going to be happy the catch was almost made but he's going to be thrilled that he broke it up gives him a chance to do a little drawing after the play let that other guy know he just roughed him up and lost a big catch birie now on second and 10 and he finds the seam down the middle complete and they bring him down looks like he got it to the 27 it's a gain of 21 yds to pick up that first down well that's a gain that has its roots and preparation during the week that's Monday Tuesday Wednesday kind of stuff identifying ways to Target the coverage and creating opportunities for big completions pretty throwing here on First and he's going to go down Jets brought the pressure and got to him and the big play drives them backwards second second down coming up when we think about safeties I mean it's it's just right in the name right the safety is the last line of protection in the passing game we don't think of them as blitzers but Kate let me tell you for a safety Blitz to get home they got to be great disguisers they can't show that Blitz early that safety didn't and the quarterback took the brunt of the contact back to the line they go it's second down they'll put one of the tight ends in motion after the sack another pass on second down oh they're on him and he's dropped again and backto back takedowns behind the line of scrimmage set him up now with third down Kate I don't know if I've ever told you but my dad was a driver's ed teacher and I could just hear him right now say son take this out of reverse and put it in drive because this one's going nowhere right now a drastic change on this play needed and maybe a whole lot of luck to keep this series alive so not an enviable spot here as they come up on Third and very long from the gun is [Applause] pie no play place to go so he just threw it away that was a situation where he got the time in the pocket he needed there just wasn't anyone open to throw it to it got to the point he had two choices as that clock is going off in his head force a throw and risk a pick or just get rid of it and cut your losses on the play they'll bring out the punter here it'll be Mitch wisnowski doing the honors now this one not much of a chance of it staying in the field to play they'll mark it out at the 13 ydd line the visitors down receiver Garrett Wilson back out to take possession and I think by this point we can all agree Brock that he is not going to be stopped until the clock stops at the end of this game he just continues to make catches count in this second [Applause] half and the drive will start out with a first and 10 Rogers set to pass finds his Target homeall and he's going to be out right along the 25 pick up of 12 on that play and it's good enough for a New York first down to this day I could still see the faces of the big guys in the Huddle when you call a screen like that instead of them just getting knocked backwards they get to be salesmen they get to push those linemen downfield and then tea off and go hit somebody like they did right there and he's tackled going for a short gain sometimes when you're just looking to move it forward get some small yards on to throw quarterback's best friend security blanket when it's a big old tied ends that's an extra bonus offense in the hurry up [Applause] here from the 28 short pass caught by his tight end and he'll pick up enough to move the chains well they got him down before he could do any more damage in terms of yards that's no easy job mind you tackling a big tied end but the main damage had already been done he kept this drive going by getting beyond the line of game the dose of the hurry up offense here first down throw by Rogers throw complete to Williams and they're going to bring him down just on the other side of Midfield it's a great pick up 16 yds and now they've got first down I may love watching a great thrower but I love watching a well done route two Kate make that guy think you're trying to stack him only to drop your hips and cut right inside some good work to help reset those chains fires right away but incomplete that just goes to show you can't take any completion for granted even on some of the shortest passes in the game plan so after the incompletion here comes the second down call throwing once again Rogers this one is tipped away and incomplete good positioning to make a play on it that forces third down I think we're starting to get a feel aren't we of why they like him so much in coverage he reacts well to throws is super Adept at breaking up passes through contact or like that one before they could ever reach the target [Applause] Rogers throwing on third down that's caught for the first and they finally bring him down but that is a big gain and a new set of downs this one goes for an even 25 yards and it'll give the Jets a first down we've reached the two-minute warning in Santa Clara Jets Trail by 15 down a couple of scores but still some time left and three timeouts as well it's first and 10 again Rogers toward the sideline and caught by Wilson and he's got it inside the 15 before going out with a pick up of 11 and it's good enough for a New York first [Applause] down throwing now falls to the ground out left incomplete that is normally a gimme for this offense these short throws but the defense well they had just enough influence on that play to force the [Applause] incompletion no dice on that prior pass here's second down now to throw hul there to haul it in and he drives this forward to the six the Jets take their first time out and they'll take a moment to ponder what the Call's going to be on third down looking to throw it and even on third down he sees no choice other than to get rid of it not the play they wanted it's going to be fourth down you know third and short is difficult one to call do you want to run into the teeth of a defense looking for that hand off or try to throw it to him and use the element of surprise evidently well that's one they should have run instead they'll run for it with Hall and he will take it in touchdown New York the Jets can make it a one- score game as they trim the lead Bree Hull with the touchdown his third total score this game it's what every player who scores a touchdown wants to do Brock he wants to get right back there and put another six on the board I've never met an NFL player content with one end zone trip in a game nope yeah if you're content you're not making it to this league you get one you're instantly think of another and the fortunate few are able to actually deliver on it now a try to keep a sliver of hope alive and make things a one- score game that one splits the uprights and they're a point closer now on the scoreboard [Applause] they line up for the Onan kick here got to find a way to get it back just a little over a minute and a half remaining and the 49ers are able to cover the kick ooh can't get it back on the onside kick can still get a final chance with a quick three and out though I'll be it not with a lot of time for them left to work with yeah Kate unless they can force a miracle turnover and we've seen that before a three and out is really the only Avenue remaining defense go buckle it up the offense being led back out by its quarterback as they get geared up for their next possession and last drive he reached one of those numbers that everyone looks at as a benchmark after the season ends Brock quite the year that he's put together finding the end zone ball on the 45 first and 10 one of the tight ends motioning right trying an inside give now with maccaffrey and he's brought down by a collective effort there only one yard on the carry [Applause] they'll come to the line here second and nine the give now out of the shotgun and once again he doesn't manage much before getting brought down timeout called by the Jets that's their final one that's all they had so the offense free to start running the clock down now [Applause] a less than ideal third and eight [Applause] here mcaffrey running between the tackles and once again he doesn't manage much before getting brought down he got three on the Run that's going to bring up fourth and four [Applause] [Applause] and they'll let the clock run all the way down and expire [Applause] everyone was set and at the line the quarterback just didn't snap it before the play clock hits zero so out now comes the punter and he's going to try to give his defense a long field to defend and he sends this away definitely his best kick of the game thus far his one's headed for the sideline and outs will get the mark they say it's at the nine where it crossed this offense headed back to the field led by their receiver and as he accumulates catches this season Brock some them stuck out to us more than most and we had one of them on that last drive as he's reached a significant milestone for himself this year they're out and set first and [Applause] 10 to throw Defender arrives right as the ball does and the hit knocks it free incomplete Defender is not going to be thrilled the catch was almost made on his watch but more importantly he breaks it up gives him a chance to do a little giant after the play Let's the other guy know he roughed him up and cost him that catch here he is to throw and that pushes him back third down coming up I know I'm nitpicking a little bit here Kate but if they could have held off just another second before making contact they may have driven this QB right into the end zone and we know what that would have meant with two points in the defense ignited hurry up offense now as time runs down he's back to throw o a dangerous spot there Brock and he just gets rid of it so often so many of these games in the NFL while they come down to a play or two in third down critically whether it's in a close game or already out of hands the coach want see them convert those third down pass didn't work but the offense staying out there on Fourth back to throw he finds him beyond the marker and they catch up to him but not until he's got a huge gain and a first down so the 49ers take the win here in front of the faithful in Santa Clara and there was no easy KN it took some white knuckling until the very end but their defense carried that small lead through to the Finish Line as they escape with the victory [Applause]
