us on Chargers Unleashed uh this is an exciting time for Chargers fans they get their speed they get their High character guys have a great conversation with Darius going to talk to him about all kinds of stuff including some of the fan questions that we posed directly to him we fielded a whole bunch we selected about four can't wait for this discussion it's going to be fun such an exciting player to have on this Chargers team Jake before we get into it over or under average punt return yardage per return okay now we're talking I'm gonna go over under yeah want say one first down I'm charges unleash Darius congrats man welcome to La how's SoCal treating you so far you know um they just shown n of love you know the fans on the on the um Instagram Twitter they're just showing a lot of love and um I just can't wait to get to Los Angeles and um just put in the work with those guys with the coach staff and um my new teammates just a blessing we're obviously going to talk to you about you know your your fellow teammates we'll talk to you about your possibilities as a returner and as a special teamer uh as well as offensive weapon um we have some questions here submitted by the fans directly but we want to kind of get to know you first like a little bit off the field um what have these past few days been like like take us into the Davis celebrations and kind of calendar agenda since you were drafted you talked about in the presser about like how excited you were with the family and everybody was there but like what's this been like for you the last few days man it's been overwhelming you know like I said um just to be be there with my family you know they supported me throughout this whole journey ever since I started playing football since I was five and um just to have opportunity just to share that moment with them on Saturday it um it was a blessing I know um and um just my uh my brother you know having him there too um because me and him we grew up playing football together we grew up in the same grade coming up always high school and just to see his reaction just it was just overwhelming too and I'm just thankful for that opportunity what was the what was the conversation like with your brother like what was the what was that like now that you're like oh my God I got drafted holy yeah it was like we really didn't had a like we really didn't say much he just gave me a big old hug he was just speechless he just gave me a big old hug and everyone else in the house just G me a big old hook and they're just excited you know like once you get drafted they get the they get on the phone they get to call in everybody and um it was just nothing nothing but love Darius Chargers fans love to get to know players outside of football so what are you up to when you're not playing football what are some of the things that you like to do off the field you know off the field I I like to watch a lot of sci-fi movies I'm a big SciFi guy um I like jigsaw puzzles so I work on jigsaw puzzles the one I recently did was like the black p one um other than that man I just like really just like to chill um play video games I mean I feel like that's Everyone likes to do that and um I really want to get into pickle ball you know I play Pick ball oh that's that's Dan's fad my man yeah so I really want to get into pickle ball I played it a few times when I was younger I think I'm gonna go play in like um Thursdays sometime so hopefully I get to do that fastest growing sport in the country by the way if you have not played fickle ball it's so much fun I'm obsessed um Jake's a huge movie guy and you mentioned uh an Avengers movie gotta ask you favorite movie you've seen lately and favorite avenger or favorite Marvel movie excuse me my favorite movie I've seen recently um I would say either the new Avatar uh tomorrow's W that's a good one um and cre C was a good movie it's not a scifi movie but it was a good movie too um my favorite Avengers movie um I was a big Spiderman fan and Iron Man but um I would say that the uh end game end game it was a good one so I like that one I really didn't like the new um what was the quum what quum media yeah I didn't really like it I felt like that was like for little kids a little bit but it was it was still a good movie though now TCU technically became Chargers University during this whole draft process you know we obviously got your quarterback Max Dugen your fellow wide receiver Quinn Johnston and then you talk to us about what it's been like for all of you guys to join the same team together because this is the first time that something like this has happened since I believe it was 19 1983 1984 it's been a long time since something like this has happened yeah you know um just having the opportunity just to play with those guys again you know I played with Max for four years um Q3 and um just the just a bond that we we um created there at TCU is just something special and just to have that opportunity to go back in the stadium where we play our last game at and just like I said like we had un unfinished business and so far so just had the opportunity just to go back there and play again and just to call that place home it's a beautiful Stadium you know incredible fans it's just a blessing just to have the opportunity to go right there and play with guys we're talking to Chargers fourth round pick Darius Davis your newest Los Angeles charger uh your teammate you mentioned Q select in the first round you were there at the party for him uh you played with him for a while what are the Chargers and the fans getting from him either on and off the field like what are some of the things that people might not know about him like what do he like as a teammate as a teammate you know Q he loved the dance like you play you could play any song I promise you could play uh Miley Cyrus song it don't matter he gonna find a way to dance to it so he just that energetic person off the field you know good guy to talk to you know um just a just a good brother to have you know and um on the field you know Q he's 6'4 and I feel like there's not many many 64 receivers that can move like he is like he do and um and know just the just the way he just carry himself as a football player as a leader and um it just says a lot lot about him and that's why I thought he was picked in the first round now I got to ask since you know a lot about ke ask about yourself like what are charges fans getting from you either on or off the field maybe off the field more importantly right now cuz we know what you bring on the field yeah so off the field you know um I feel I'm a great guy off the field I'm like the type of person that you can come up to me I'm approach approachable person you come up to me and have any type of conversation you know I'm always smiling I'm just smiley person um good energy um well well um raised young man so um that's what you would get get from me from off the field after night one general manager Tom Tesco alluded to the fact that the team was still looking for their wide receiver kick returner punt returner uh special teams coach Ryan ficken has had success throughout his tenure throughout the NFL uh selected you in round four jet Award winner nation's top return specialist and this is a crazy stat you've returned 10% over 10% of your returns have been touchdowns five out of 44 attempts have been touchdowns which is a bistic stat what are your expectations and your mindset as this team's new specialist as well as maybe an offensive weapon so my expectation is just to come in day one just be that that return guy for our team um you know the saying is get a get a first down which is 10 yards but my my mindset like going in is like I want to score like every time I get the B I want to score so like but like that's like my U my time at TCU like you said over 10% been um touchdown but that just shows you how great my um my teammates are that's blocking from me cuz I always tell people that um returning is the easiest part I feel like my job is the easy part but holding you know holding your block for like more than six seconds that's that's that's the hard part so it just I just give credit to those guys you know jarus I'm not sure if you heard this but during the pre-draft process technically even going all the way back since February Chargers fan base has been begging clamoring pounding the table for Speed with their wide receivers adding more weapons for Justin Herbert somebody who can come in and insert some juice into this Kell Moore offense and obviously you fit that bill so what has this coaching staff said in terms of what they and how they see you impacting this team on this offense yeah you know you know first of all you know I'm a kick our return per return but you know being seeing them like draft me like that low in the fourth round you know that saves a lot for them because you know they not only want me as a return returner they want me as a receiver too so like um they just want to use me uh use my Speed most most important just give me over like in like play action um schemes and stuff like that so that's how that's how it going to go and for folks who have not seen your play style describe your game and what you hope to bring to this Chargers offense and special team specifically you know my play style um you know I'm the Littest guy out there so you got you got had a dog in you and that just been my mindset when I cuz coming up in L PE I always been a little the littlest guy on the field so I always use that I use my speed to my advantage as being like the smaller guy but you know um my play style you know just going out there just making plays just being energetic just um I feel like I'm a party starter because like you look back at the uh TCU TCU season last year they bring a lot of times where like score was like zero and I was like I was the um party star like I say uh get those first first points on the board you know and um just being a lect just coming to work um being excited just to learn from those guys like Ken and Allen Mike Williams and Rich the coach coaching staff we have a fun topic for you now uh we give out we get Chargers fans opportunities to ask you questions directly and we got a whole bunch of them for you so let's get into Chargers fans questions you ready we got four of them ready to go yes sir let's do it all right Darius Davis first one comes from Andre crafted analysts on Twitter have you had the chance to talk to Ryan ficken and if yes what excites you most about working with him yeah I I had a chance to talk to him you know um what's exciting the um most the work on him you know they just have a great offense um I talked to some other people they say they have a great F office so I mean you know you just look at people and tell them that they great people and know I just that's the that's the type of people I would want to work with people who have great culture you know and um I'm just excited just to get there and work with those guys this next one's from Chargers memes if you had to choose a way to get the ball what would be your favorite way to get it would it be on a on a screen on an Ender round obviously your kickoff returns what's kind of your favorite way to get the ball what what excites you most I would say like like the jet like the jet sweeps because you know you don't it don't take much just to get though you just come in motion just get it to me and um yeah I say the Jeet s because I can just get it right there and there and just give busy with the B Chargers fans uh have seen jet sweeps not go very well the last few years and so that was like one of the first things people saw when you got drafted was like oh my God we see a Jet Sweep go to the house Darius make it happen please oh yeah we G we gonna change we gonna change that for sure let's go uh next one comes from social media herbo with a lightning bolt at the end uh Darius what's your favorite NFL player either current or retired and who do you try to emulate your game on my favorite um NFL player uh I would say current is Tyre Hill um retired I say Reggie Bush cuz you know I'm from Louisiana I grew up watching regie Bush I had his jersey in peee going to practice with the 25 on but um who I try to emulate my game after the um as a returner I would say um kavante Turpin um you know I play with kavante Turpin at TCU um I look up to him as a big brother you know he helped me with the return game and um I say offensively I say Tyreek just watching Tyreek Hill how he used his speed to his his Advantage um just watching him um that's how approach my game darus you're uh you're about to get Chargers fans very excited because they have been begging for this type of speed on offense and even hearing you just mentioned the term the name Tyreek Hill like watch out I'm telling you yeah you're about to be a fan favor real quick yeah I love Tyreek here last one we got for you Darius this comes from Ivy bolts fan 760 here's a food question for you which place has the better Burger is it in andout or what a burger World War III starting today seriously this is going to cause a lot of turmoil uh me personally I like um water water Burger um in and out I don't like the um the Mayo sauce on it I'm not a big at all they bring out the um the food truck to Inn out and I tell them please do not put the Mayo sauce on it or I would not eat it now have you have you speaking of of Inn out have you heard of like the you know the secret menu they have like the animal fries and all the different things you can get that's not on the menu no I never heard of it okay so next time you go there get a double double animal style it will change your life a double double animal style yep or you can go three by3 triple that's fine either one all right thank you man yes you got it you heard it here first you know I love trying new food so yeah I mean you're in La now you're like the food capital of the World almost um Darius this has been fun you are off the hot seat fan questions have been answered by you um this has been so much fun what are you up to these next couple weeks like what what's what are you gonna be doing on your free time are you going to trying to look for a place here in La you buying any new cars with your new money like what do you think of doing um right now I'm I'm UND decided right now uh but over these next we few weeks um you know just I'm just stay in shape I've been working out at TCU U just staying in shape I'm go home this weekend go see some family members and um just get ready fly out to Elliot next next Thursday and um just get to work Darius Davis your new Los Angeles Chargers offensive weapon and special team Ace Darius what do you got to say to the Chargers fans the soap box is yours the frame is yours Chargers fans are
