Sudoku solution – New York Times 26 August 2024 Hard level

hello fellow sedans welcome to Zen and the Art of the Guardian sedoka puzzle it's Monday the 26th of August 2024 I hope you are keeping well I'm exhausted I've uh been working hard today and after I finished work I had to go across town to a couple of different places which involved a lot of walking which is not something we like to do in Bangkok to be honest with you but I've done my 10,000 steps today and it's the day is only it's only half past 5 now my uh early evening work has been cancelled I'm not sure if I got later work uh if so I may have to stop this video but um if that doesn't occur then I can continue on and play this New York Times hard level puzzle now a couple days ago I was mentioning that there was a a a a scientist who studies uh the process of aging and he was saying never trust uh centenarians never trust old people when it comes to giving Health advice etc etc it just so happens a couple of days later we've got headline it says world's oldest man celebrates 12th birthday in merys side and this his name is John Alfred tinis tinniswood and he said he puts his long life down to just luck there we are which is what the scientist said you know uh uh he said he did not follow a special diet although he does have fish and chips on Fridays um what else there's something else uh hold on let me scroll down a bit uh he said I can't think of any spe uh uh um I sorry he put his Good Health and Longevity down perhaps to an active lifestyle in his younger days you either live long or you live short and you can't do much about it I can't think of any special Secrets I have I have I was quite active as a youngster I did a lot of walking whether that had anything to do with it I don't know but to me I'm no different to anyone no different at all so uh I don't have a special diet he said if you drink too much or eat too much or walk too much if you do too much of anything you're going to suffer eventually so this is exactly what the advice of the scient the scientist a couple days ago and said who said never ever it made me so angry that he said never ever listen to old people when it comes to you know I really hate that was such a patronizing attitude I thought so here we are here's an elderly man who agrees with all of the advice given and the reasons for living to an old age anyway let's get on with the game of sodoku shall we before I get any messages telling me I've got to stop and start work soon as I can see something I'll let you know I can see twos blocking across here and here my voice is holding up or I have been oh good think I'm going to put in pencil marks because I just can't be bothered to uh go and sit for ages staring at the screen not getting anywhere uh I don't I have a feeling it's not difficult but I've got fours are in those squares five like this three possible places for five six is in seven blocks down here sevens are down there eight is in and nine blocks down here and across there so those could be nine and I don't SP so it's I've got to look in this block I was thinking I was hoping I would get it in this block first but no looks like it's going to be the last block I look in ones are are there uh twos I've got already threes I've got already fours what do I know four blocks down here and across there so three possibilities for four five is in six blocks across here six still can go anywhere there six seven eight blocking down here and nine is in right now where are you where are you it's got to be somewhere oh here he is it had to be somewhere along the bottom didn't it we've got a 1 s pair here so this one and seven is not needed it's going to be an eight and that's a six and that's an eight up there with a six here and a six there there and 9 4 71 four in that square eight in that square uh let's get rid of some eights shall we okay see looking much cleaner now I guess uh I've got to get rid of this seven as well because we have one and seven pair here and I got to get rid of that one so what are we at now 5 n pair here that can't be five that's going to be one that's going to be five this can't be five this also can't be five and this can't be nine we've got one so we can get rid of the ones there as well we left with a pair of three and eight I wonder if we can just click on the digits and see like this I don't have any completed digits yet and we've got four up here so we got to get rid of those candidate fours now five uh we've got six blocking across here so here's our six there's a oh sorry wrong my would selected on the solver one in that square there let's get rid of these candidate ones and let's get rid of these sixes so we don't confuse ourselves six blocking down there there's a six there's a one this can't be one six is a finished digit now the only one though seven here seven blocks all the way down here like this so that's a one oops excuse me that's a one that's a seven over there we've got to get rid of these sevens it leaves us with a four here seven there one here no one's allowed there one and six are both finished we have a pair of two and five this is going to be a nine that's our nine that's the end of the game actually five there uh five in this Square here seven there seven there let's get get rid of the seven uh what's left to do twos three still have to be done oh fours to be done fives to be done is there is no five there that's a two and a five is here that's a four that's our three eight there three there four there two in this Square this will be an eight five goes here two goes there uh it took me a long time
