happens as the show is happening because today is official cutdown day around the NFL the Eagles and the rest of the NFL have to get to their final or initial 53 man roster to start the season so lots to do the Eagles did Make Some Cuts yesterday they made 12 Cuts we'll get into them in a minute nothing surprising there Howie has 28 Cuts left to make today will Howie be aggressive maybe make a trade or something we're going to find out that's part one of today's conversation part two Phillies win again last night dramatic W walk-off fashion against the Houston Astros with a Bryce Harper walkoff hit sorry about that um and now they've got three wins in a row with Aaron Nola going tonight against Justin Verlander are the Phillies back or at least close to being back and what's Rob Thompson doing talking and saying to the reporters yesterday before the game that we're going to give Taiwan Walker another chance I don't want to make it all positive about the Phillies I gotta make one negative comment about the Phillies that would be Rob Thompson or whoever's pulling the strings in the front office not ready to move on from Taiwan Walker and his $70 million contract which is a joke now at this point literally the butt of the jokes just thinking in my head about all the awful jokes anyway guys I'm your host Phil stifel here every single morning you can find me at beard of and join a nice hot cup of coffee I got a hot cup of coffee I don't know anything about brisk one final Heatwave coming through the Philadelphia area uh yesterday today and tomorrow today's high is going to be pushing 90 tomorrow I know could be in the mid uper 90s so have you got a Brisk Upstate New York morning good for you has anyone uh who used to be a very solid Player gone down as quickly as James Bradbury in the city uh dude was so solid for such a long time I mean Carson Wentz was an MVP and he fell off a cliff oh that's the quick instant reaction to that one NS I still think the the Eagles keep James Bradbury at least on the initial F will he be here on Friday next week 10 days from now I don't know but I think as of today at 4M James Bradbery will be one of the four initial 53 man guys I do um I just think that's the way it's going to play out I really do I would really wish the Harper hurt narrative would would disappear you're allowed of power outage um maybe yeah I mean Harper I you know there there have been some some fun wins a couple blowout wins over the weekend but last night's you know walk-off win Bryce being the guy that uh you know got the walk-off hit kind of re-energized Bryce Harper a little bit I think it's a really big deal as we're embarking on this seven game trip or home stand against the Astros and the Braves to start off the home stand with a walk-off win can really energize the team and it was a really good win Zack Wheeler pitched well the bullpen went four shut out Innings which is excellent considering how bad the bullpen has been lately so I love love love to see what the bullpen did yesterday over 30 what over 30 Cuts left to make my my number is they've made 12 Cuts so far don't they start at 93 they cut 12 that puts them at 81 left to make minus 53 I got 28 left maybe it's 30 maybe I miscalculated somewhere good morning Bryce Bruce Harper how you doing this morning ludig Oar clap clap clap clap clap not gonna win this something on social media breaking on a cut drop it in the comments and and we can address it that way as well sometimes a pitcher duel Jose is good you know especially when you see the bullpen do what they did and it was a pitching duel but I mean the Phillies still had nine hits you know everybody but Bowman Hayes seven of the nine starters all got at least one hit uh last night they they're doing they're doing some things the last three wins been a lot of small ball play by our Phillies look at me being positive about the Phillies I I love when the Phillies let me be positive good morning duck good morning good morning good morning how are you today uh wheeler is a stud well duh of course he is he's one of the best pitchers in baseball is wheeler still in even a outside shot at win the sa young I mean his ER is still sub 275 on the season I'd like to see that I like Turner's plate discipline to take that walk before Bryce is hit I I had it on the game um in the background but I was recording my golf podcast so I kind of missed the details of that 10th inning um but that's good you know drawing a walk to set it up that that's perfect you the bullpen did good too the bullpen did great four shutout Innings let me go over the bullpen last night kirking pitched an inning gave up a hit struck out of batter 16 pitches no runs Hoffman one inning one one hit one walk 12 pitch inning Estes completely clean gave up no hits no 11 one inning 11 pitches and then match st came in for the win in the 10th clean Inning on eight pitches your Bullpen went four Innings and threw a combined 28 3 39 40 47 pitches in four Innings of clean Ball Four Innings two hits two walk no two hits one walk and that's it that's what you want to see and that's a great outing for the bullpen last night so far I think they have cut 12 so far so the Eagles Cuts so far none of them are surprised wide receivers Griffin Herbert and Austin Watkins offensive lineman Max sharping and Jason Poe tight end Kevin fol uh quarterback Will Greer they're the offensive Cuts I've seen so far on defense first one slightly surprising because there was a chance an outside chance he made the roster Taran Jackson Andre Sam and Sean Stevens guys that some people wanted to see make the team I doubt it that they ever had a chance o aquara a defensive end um they like him aquara is the first name I think they add to the practice squad with Taran Jackson now the cuts so far made unfortunately former top draft pick Zack mcferson what was he a third rounder he made the cut un he got cut unfortunately and uh Percy Nickerson um Zach mcferson is the biggest name so to say getting cut because going into last season he was slotted to be the starting cornerback in the slot for this team and obviously had the Achilles tear just couldn't crack this super deep cornerbacks room that we now have um so unfortunately maybe mcferson gets picked up somewhere but maybe he ends up on our practice squad we'll see how that goes working on it I'm working on it my opening monologue there was some cont when I called myself the master and ruler of the world I looked right at you we'll see about that one good morning uh Joe I know we all are happy it's cut day because we are one step closer to the start of the season but absolutely abely today has to be one of the toughest days in the NFL now it's a little less tough now with the UFL all the indoor football leagues all the other options expanded practice squads uh what are they up to now 16 17 player 16 players plus an emergency quarterback on the practice squad um there are a lot of options but it's got to be tough on the players it's got to be tough on the coaches the general manager you know you get to know these guys over the summer they become part of your family and then you got to cut them it's business it sucks um but it is a really really tough day for the players and management uh on a day like today where they've got a literally cut you know 30 guys basically um mcferson is the only person on that list so far is a no name who's actually taken snaps in regular season Taran Jackson's never played in the regular season he's never gotten caught up he's been on our practice squad a few times um but yeah I mean exact I mean will Greer people might know the name just from his college days but but there's that um but stot may be getting hot getting hits lately but he seems to be swinging more for the fences um yeah I don't know I'm not sure if st's breaking out of his Funk or just getting lucky I'm not sure on that one yet uh Phil I don't know I didn't know you do a golf podcast absolutely fair to have Tuesday nights 600 p.m. tonight will be the season finale of season 4 of it I've been doing that longer than trending in the am just so you know right here on this same channel normally we SP we focus in on the gambling side and the fantasy DFS golf side being the Tour Championship it's tough to bet on it's tough to do a lot of DFS lineups so we just talked Theory and stuff like that a little bit tonight we'll do some popup episodes in the offseason in the winter uh but then we will be back regularly weekly come January with the century Tournament of Champions um just so you know uh what's going on Philly Philly what's happening um with Bradbury I personally think he makes the team in my opinion Bradberry makes the team to start now I think hoe Roseman is going to be very aggressive and you guys can answer this in the comments do you think Hoy Roseman will be aggressive picking up waiver wire guys or do you think I see a lot of people thinking and feeling that he's going to make another johy Gardner Johnson TI trade over the next couple days now depending on what those moves are Bradberry might get cut eventually but by 4M today if hie doesn't have any trades happening James Bradbury's on this roster that's my that's just my opinion that's from everything I've seen him not dressing for the third preseason game tells me that he's a lock that's just my opinion Teran Jackson who played uh also yeah that's what I said I thought I thought he played some not many but some effing do this job like me Jerry Jones is a dope plain and simple but they did lose Bland Richard Bland uh for like eight weeks so they are in the market for a quarterback or a defensive back so yeah maybe but I I I doubt we would do business with them uh wheeler throwing 50 plus pitches in 4 had me scratch my head too many too early yeah I I don't know that uh is a usfl player be a good spot for him to go and get some game experience and get some of his um I don't know what you want to call it some of his uh steps back you know some of his uh some of his you know whatever he's missing from Bradberry but James bradberry's got a big capit it's like $13 million James Bradbury is on the decline I don't know I I I think he makes the team I know it's crazy but I think it is I saw it I said I'm not gonna bite I'm not gonna bite I'm not gonna bite and I bit Yeah Nick wrong I think somebody said we should start calling him Nick wrong had the Cowboys win in the division Washington second the Eagles third that's bogus just click bait media BS how he has never done dealing that is true Kwan never done dealing and that's good that's a good thing we still have about 24 million in cap we could pick up anyone off the waivers and cut with and cuts without issue that's true now I don't think he wants to spend all 24 million of that cap space some of that can roll over I don't know how much you're allowed but I know you're allowed to roll over some of that next year there will more guys Milton Williams needs his extension we're getting closer to a jayen Carter extension or Jordan Davis extension so there are other moves that have to happen so you don't want to spend all that 24 million on the waiver wire but there is moves that can be made um cool yeah unfortunately you're finding out about on the Ser the season finale because we just go January to September uh with the show every year we go from Century tournament champions towards TOUR Championship and that's it we don't do the the false swing I'll trade them to the Chargers and add a fourth so they take the cap hit I still I still think when you trade a player Felix I'm No Cap expert but I think even if you trade a player you still get some kind of uh cap ramifications by doing it just don't ask me what those ramifications are because again I am no where near a cap expert in any form like I don't pretend to be one it did not stay at a holiday in there's a real relevant reference right there from me um I just don't I don't I don't think they would trade him and include a pick because I still think there would be a cap hit that would affect him or affect them in some way um somebody that's smarter than me can answer that I hate that Zack pronounces it Zack yeah me I used to have a guy that used to comment on this show all the time and he spelled his name the same way but he pronouncing it Zeke and not Zack um uh appreciate that um appreciate it appreciate it appreciate it Jose saying is picking up an edge rusher still in play um absolutely it's in play if I'm Howie Roseman I'm looking at safety depth I'm looking at offensive line depth and I'm looking at a rotational piece at Edge I doubt I'm looking at somebody like who was it um where am I know Ernest Jones who could play off the edge outside linebacker I doubt they'll go big time with a big name in any position what crazier things have happened yeah Matty B hates the fact that you know today's like Ho's like Christmas morning he gets to wheel and deal cut ad trade do everything like that and he's excellent at it excellent I love this John safety inside linebacker tight end in my opinion is still I think it's like it's like this is like deja vu deja vu deja vu tight end is still an issue to me like I know the Eagles are hyped on Grant calcatera I know the Eagles are hyped to make him tight end two and he's supposedly improved his blocking skills but you got Grant calcatera you got Dallas GD who misses time every single year and you got nobody or EJ Jenkins and that's it that's not shouting good backup depth at tight end for when Dallas SCD goes down just saying a backup tight end and bouncing calcatera back to a third level tight end might be the best option bradberry's contract is untradeable he has to get cut yeah which is why before any trades get made or waiver wire pickups get picked up the initial 53 JB is going to be on it why cut a guy a depth piece and just eat that contract if the Phillies won't cut Taiwan Walker why would the Phillies you know cut James Bradbery James Bradbery's had more recent success than Taiwan Walker with you Bradbury stays tons of experience what helps uh if someone gets injured keep the depth yeah I I don't see a reason to just waste unless you find a better option out there in a trade or waiver wire Freddy um I don't know why you would I don't know why you would cut him at this point he learned the position of safety a little bit and the fact that coaching level Greg Ward is a well-respected person he's a great locker room later players love him he just doesn't provide anything to a football team is Greg Ward used to be a quarterback in college he's learned wide receiver he can play special teams can you make him some kind of coaching intern this year and then find a spot in the coaching staff for Greg Ward I don't know if he wants to do that I'm sure he wants to keep playing and collecting that paycheck just saying I wouldn't waste a practice squad spot on him maybe you can get him on a coaching contract I don't know that's just me that's what I would do 15 million cap hit if they trade Bradbury according yeah um so their $24 million C pit goes to nine for trading them I I don't know um I think it's 13 or 14 if we cut him it's a little bit less if we cut him um uh who's the enforcer I don't know but I am the master and ruler of the world another year with the Chain Gang NFL wants to stay old school yep are really concerned about Nolan Smith Edge might be the number one issue I I don't know if it's the number one issue but it's definitely definitely up there definitely up there and the fact that Nolan Smith on Saturday the early 90s watching wrestling The Undertaker didn't scare me psycho Sid Sid Vicious scared me with his eyes wide open and he's just had such a menacing presence jacked the curly greasy blonde hair bullet and also Sid Vicious you know broke his leg similar well not doing the same thing as me but when he broke his leg jumping off the top rope in WCW in the late 90s and his leg just snapped in half and was dangling like this it's basically what my leg was doing when I broke it just dangling like that um yeah so I am trying to honor Sid uh as many times I can today because he was definitely one of my favorites to watch as a kid growing up uh Greg Ward got signed already okay gotch you who who Rick give me give me that details coaches also love everybody loves Greg Ward how is he not thir he should be 4550 at this point my God 2019 when he came off the practice squad seems like ages ago yeah I think he could do that as well but according to Rick somebody already signed him uh Phil why do you think the Eagles have a problem with Nolan Smith well I don't know if they have a problem or not but what I do know is that they think they have a problem you don't play a major contributor that's going to get major snaps in the third preseason game if you're confident in their skill set just gonna say that many many teams don't have incredible tight end depth that is true very true that's a very fair point on the tight end thing oh my goodness gracious Timmy Sullivan is in the house today what is wrong with the world have you ever think about think that they want noan to get as many reps as possible because they want to replace reic you don't play noan Smith if he is part of your plan to replace Hassan reick in the third preseason game okay you don't James Bradbury didn't play okay Bryce Huff did Bryce Huff has just as few snaps you know as well maybe a little bit more but he it's not like he's got loads of experience noan Smith is going to be part of the team noan Smith is going to get reps and snaps but I don't think the Eagles fully trust Nolan Smith yet Tim I don't I think Nolan Smith is just getting the Reps he missed last year that's what everyone keeps saying and I just think the complete opposite of that I just think that the Nolan Smith situation is they're still trying to find some hope with this guy I don't think they have hope or an understanding of who or what he is uh that's right Eric rest in peace Sid Vicious the master of the Power Bomb reunited yep absolutely you know again like I said Sid Vicious when I saw him for the first time in the early 90s watching Saturday morning wrestling or whatever Replay that was um and I see him come out on the stage and he just had this look of like intimidation like if you can if you can groom wrestlers to have an intimidating look psycho Sid watch how he comes out when the first time he debuted I don't know if it was in WCW or WWE well WWF back then he came out and he had that circling post and he stood there with the spotlight and he just circled that little thing and then he stepped forward my God how can you not be intimidated as a kid that's true Kwong you can't blame anybody on the Eagles defense from last year because Sean theat Patricia combo um was bad uh yes it is the same if we cut him after the season the cap hit goes down to 10 million man that is a bad yeah absolutely absolutely absolutely um baby who who you you know Adam Cole baby um Smith will have a breakout year remember when I said bone would hit 300 um yeah I remember that and he might get to close to 110 but he's a little struggled right now he's down to what 292 right now um I don't know I hope he does about two three weeks ago Tim on this very show I predicted noan Smith will lead the team in sacks but every day that passes through preseason games and training camp I'm starting to doubt my own prediction is that he will lead the team with nine and a half sacks this year I'm doubting that prediction at this point I don't see anything about Greg Ward getting picked up oh well we got a we got a battle we got a battle now on that one who knows nope Greg Ward hasn't played a snap since 2021 well he was on the Colts um training camp roster he got cut Rick says he was picked up duck says he wasn't I don't know we'll see Sid had the best Power Bomb after Nash broke the Giant's neck and stopped slamming people um yeah there's something about it like the the snap in his power bomb um it just looked powerful it did and I didn't know the Nash broke the giant neack never heard that one before interesting uh Ward got picked up by Indie but was just cut by him yeah I don't yeah that's what that's what I know but anyway uh Sid was the greatest big man heel that guy and Macho Man are the two guys who could turn heel immediately without a buildup absolutely and I was watching highlights of Sid Sid was actually really athletic you know someone had him in like a leg scissor around his neck while he was laying on his back and 69 330 pounds or whatever he was buil as that dude was able to do like I saw him do a kick up in a highlight video I watched last night of him and I'm like I never would have thought that Sid Vicious was athletic enough to do kick up obviously pre breaking his leg into a million pieces Nolan Smith gets at least eight sacks this season well like I said about three weeks ago I predicted nine and a half to lead the team I am doubting that prediction I hope I'm wrong for doubting Nolan Smith I hope I'm wrong in saying that they are concerned about Nolan Smith if Nolan Smith leads the team in sacks this year it's a big win for the Eagles and they don't need another defensive end if he does that but we'll see Max who uh uh rundown trapped the Carolina Panthers and I'm thinking he was a tight end basically yeah he's got unbridled enthusiasm that's how he stays around I think they were leaving Smith out there because he didn't have enough snaps since coming from the injury they just want him to get as many looks as possible I hope so that's what everyone keeps telling me on this show and on Twitter I hope so duck am I quarterback and a rookie head coach that is what Howie Roseman does Howie Roseman not just builds great teams not only just manages the roster well but he knows how the people that say he's not a football guy you don't build a playoff roster in 2021 with that dead cap hit on Carson went his contract and a rookie head coach if you don't know what you're doing those coordinator hires weren't great last year no they were look no GM is perfect but he hits a lot more than he misses I don't know Anthony that's why you see a lot of teams try to lure try to lure Ho's people why Joe Douglas got like the Howie Roseman G DM tree versus like the coaching trees and stuff like that everybody Lor was behind those coordinator hires in my opinion possibly for sure and since 2021 since 2021 how many the teams how they're built their long-term track success the 49 have some success he is definitely a top GM is he better than H Roseman I'm teetering on that right now um but I do know that he is a
