big part of our game serving and passing so I think coming out we were super dialed in and to let up zero Aces is a huge accomplishment what was working for you in those last couple steps um I mean me and Bergen have been working on our connection a lot so I think it took a little bit for it to get going but obviously towards the end it turned out well so me and Bergen are still working on it and working through things but I thought we both did a good job adjusting to each other the fourth in three matches to leave the team in kills what does that say about this team so far wait what's the step you're the fourth player to leave the team in kill two TI one those matches so okay I'm not comprehending that right now I know whatever whatever I get the question um I mean I don't know I think it just shows a lot about how much work we put in in practice and how hard we work on finding our shots and hitting and making connections with Bergen so I think that just goes to show how hard we work in practice do you know har do you know when you're going to go Ser I think you served second or third Lan gone couple times do you know that switch up have you at the line he kind of just like most of the time before this like before she goes back to serve or like whoever I go in for merit I have to look at Kelly and be like Kelly ask coach like ask him if I'm serving yeah he just kind of switches it up sometimes like the first two sets I think it was you and then we was it I only served like one time oh okay well we just switch it up coach just um I don't know he like to switch things up a lot so it just depends on who Laney stepping in for think you that first time yeah I think so I mean I'm trying to work on my serve like it's not it's for the past like year or two it hasn't been consistent like I had so many errors last year but I don't know that's something I'm still working on in practice so how big was the serving as as a team get n ended with how big was that establish what you want to do I mean coach talks to us in the locker room about if we're gonna miss miss deep so he was a little frustrated with how many servs we missed in the net but at the end of the day like we're being aggressive and that's what he wants so when we get 9 Aces I it pays off Harper what are you working on specifically with your Ser is it mental or are you kind of adjusting mechanics I think it's a mix of both I mean I think when you're serving it's just you and the ball so a lot of it is mental but I honestly think it's like an even mix of mental and technique so just still working through it to practice final questions all right thank you everyone thank you e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e he got to love the late matches ready to roll I thought uh TCU did a nice job of creating some stress with tips and roll shots and different things uh and we didn't handle it very well and uh we just we kind of lost our minds there for a while made a ton of errors and um but they bounced back in game four and I thought probably um TCU got worn down and um so that that was nice to see that and we won um close game two and you know it was disappointed to lose game three I thought we had plenty of chances to win that and really didn't take take advantage of it or we weren't the aggressors so hopefully we're going to learn from that but good news is I mean we didn't get Ace tonight I think par had seven Aces last night and Rodriguez deserves extra meal money tonight for we put her in the middle of the court to pass her and she did a fantastic job she proved why she's the best labero in the country and you know handled handled that serve really really well and I know everybody says we're not a good serving team but we had nine Aces so we those are the highlights how important was serving I mean you got to out hit both the second and third sets how important was the serving game keep you close and have a chance in those two well I I think uh uh you know we we scored some points there you know what what hurt us was I mean there's 19 errors in games two and three I mean you're not going to beat you're going to have a really hard time winning making that many errors and and that's very uncharacteristic for us so I don't know I don't know what the deal was tonight but um you know it's our third match and how many days so I don't know if that's it it was a long day sitting around um waiting to play tonight but um that's very uncharacteristic for us and uh so we got to learn from that but serving in our defense I mean we we still did some nice jobs or did a did some nice things and slowing them down but uh it was just we couldn't convert and that's where we were making errors so we were kind of giving them points I mean you look at at kills they had 40 we had 55 we all killed him by 15 I mean that should be a blowout but you know it's kind of like a football team you know you you make a great great drive and then you have a bunch of penalties that's kind of what we did we would get great opportunities and make errors and just give them points because we passed pretty good tonight did anything impress you about par she's just a really good volleyball player I mean I uh she's a great be a great one to study I mean she's not that physically impressive but she's got a great Sur we we stopped we started serving her and she was just diing balls so we went away from her and then we came back to her at the end there and um but she just hits every shot she just sees everything she she knows Andy does this blocking and she just abused Andy's left hand tonight I mean that's that takes a lot of skill I mean she was doing it on purpose like there's Andy I mean you saw all those balls that just went off her left hand down the net I mean we can't dig those but she just really good and then she tips right over the block and we adjusted have L Laney there all three rotations and we still couldn't get it because our everybody else was trying to get it in just instead of letting Laney get it how would you describe Harper's impact tonight I thought Harper uh came alive tonight and um she still got some work to do but I was really impressed with her passing tonight she's been working really hard on that she she was solid and uh she um got some big kills and we needed them and started moving around and we were having a hard time killing the ball you Laney served the first two sets for her but then Harper served that third why did you want to have Harper get some serves cuz Laney went in for merit so she was in a different spot yeah but you learn this week that you can only learn once you start playing matches and get everybody on the same side of net yeah I got I got we got we got to get a lot better I mean we're doing some good things but man off just attacking we're we're making some really dumb choices so we've got a we got we did a great drill the day before we played um Corpus Christie that I really liked as a new drill we we came up with to teach them how where to hit and how to hit better and um so we got to continue to do that drill just get them to understand how to get kills and how to be smart and not snap it in the block and so got work to do but usually in this time of year early I mean you got to win some ugly games and I would say tonight at times was was was ugly for us any other questions how how are you feeling about your use of DS's and when who's playing in the back row what what hitters are playing in the backr well that's that's the system we kind of created is who who's if somebody's hot we go with it so tonight we started with Merritt then we went with Harper hitting out of the back row and she did a really nice job managing the hitting out of the back row um and we we got it where we can you know have Lindsay go back there or Taylor go back there and play all the way around so that's kind of what we're working on right now but you the question is who helps us more live or one of those guys in the back row and that's that's the question so we always want to have one hitter back there and um uh and we'll just see who's hot we can adjust that's like we did tonight you mentioned a physical exhaustion from playing three matches in five days you do the same thing next week starting with a road match then home Thursday home Saturday how did you learn anything from this week that kind of helped get through next week no we just got to survive and and um you know they got tomorrow off which will be nice and then we train down there Monday and then play Tuesday night so um then we then we the hard part we come we'll get back late and then we got to play on Thursday so it's going to be a good mental challenge for them but again that's why we maybe we got got maybe I got to play some more players because we got people that can play all right thank you every okay guys thanks hope you can make the deadlines
