[Music] um Dave we'll start with Bobby Miller you know you talked a little bit about him last night but did you get any updates just about his outing yesterday and how he came out of it you know what he came out of it well I still haven't tracked him down um so I I think for me I talked to uh Thomas Albert our had trainer said there was nothing to it as far as health positive outing so uh for me I think it's just I'm going to leave it at that and feel like it was it was a win yesterday amazing and then another Young starting picture Gavin Stone how impressive has he been as of late and how have you seen him really evolve into being a top pitcher with this team and also just throughout this league uh you know it's fun to watch uh him grow uh mature uh you know today's going to be an interesting one in the sense that I think it's his second start this year on regular rest uh so I'm going to be mindful of uh you know his workload and how he's commanding the baseball um but you know just his Poise uh commanding of the baseball the way he kind of attacks hitters acquires strike one um you know he's just built that trust with everyone that when he takes the mound uh you expect to win how much more favorable is the schedule going to be for you guys when you return home from this East Coast Road Trip again uh it's going to be uh it it we can kind of catch our breath a little bit I I thought uh 2 days ago we were a little sluggish and you know it just kind of it is what it is uh yesterday I thought we came with a lot more energy and uh you know we can get through this one uh we have an off day heading back to the east coast and then 6 days later we get another off day so um the schedule going forward uh is really going to be manageable and so it's good to see that you know as far as the dates the days off the toughest part is essentially behind us now how unusual is it have you ever experienced that just coming back for 3 Days on the west coast and then going back to the east coast no no we haven't and uh you know I'm sure there's some reasoning behind it um but I think with the with the balance schedule now uh there's some things that are different for for everyone you know some teams are playing 16 in a row some teams have got to play six on the east coast and fly back to the West Coast three and go back to the east coast so it is what it is and we're not going to overthink it from the managing side have you had to like make adjustments with the new schedule or how you kind of found different ways to protect arms things like that run guys out there um I I think we have um I I think that we've done a good job of trying to the the biggest variable is starting pitching and to kind of manage those guys and I think we've done a great job with inserting guys giving G guys extra rest um Pax came back on regular Gavin today um trying to manage playing time a little bit I think we've done a nice job of that um but uh you know like I said going forward I think that the off days will make more sense um I'm going to get CT in there in Pittsburgh so that'll be good but uh yeah I think overall you know pitching uh position player wise uh it's been good and we're going to get some guys you know in the coming weeks back as well did you get a number for Bobby's gilo last night you know I I I heard initially it was 5 to S um and then I looked at some other things that said it was a tick north of that so I I don't think that again I don't think it was too concerning I think it was a it was a net positive as far as that outing Walker was saying the other night he feels better than he thought he would physically but he's pitching like feeling the word he five starts into this thing you get a little hard on himself he is he is but I I think that I guess that's how we'd want it um but there is a balance of managing expectations and I think that's where you know Mark Prior myself come into play um individually you know he's going to expect the best of himself um but I think that for me um for Mark the organization to sort of temper it and know that this is still a process um is important um but I do think that for Walker each outing to take something positive out of it and I talked to him a little bit out there today and there's some some stiffness there's no soreness so those are things that you know a year ago today he was at home in h Kentucky watching his teammates so there's a lot it's a it's you know the world's changed and he's put in a lot of work so we can't lose that perspective when your players are hitting their stride at different times what goes into getting them all on the same page um shoot if you have that solution let me know um cuz even right now there's a few guys that are still searching um I think for for me it's uh whatever you got that day in that moment small period of time just help us win a game and so I think that you know certain times that everything clicks and is coming together and comes together and other times it doesn't but uh whatever you got that day if it's your glove it's a a situation at bat if it's cheering on your teammate to come in and and help them mentally stay focused whatever it is Dave uh you know you kind of talked about the rest for the pitchers right and you know think early on in the season guys have been going a lot on six 7 days you know Cycles um I assume by October you're probably going to want right um guys be ready to go on four their dress uh so you have to take that into account you're going to have pictures coming back right from injuries and you're kind of mapping out this thing going forward like how much of this you kind of have like a general idea of what you want to do and how much of it is this going to be got we're just going to kind of have to make this up as we go along um I I don't see I think there's a there's a rough sketching or mapping out um that we we we're constantly um amend um and work through uh I think you know sitting here I think a priority is to make sure Yoshi stays on his sort of extra rest so I don't see that changing uh even through October um I think Tyler's a guy at some point that you got to get him a couple handful of regulars um which certainly is down the road this season um and I do think that uh you know as guys come back we're going to have to read and react but uh I hope we're put in that position where we have too many healthy pitchers um so that's kind of where we're at right now okay did yesterday kind of feel like Christmas day with the ability to deploy Hudson and and shrining and U it did it did and um uh you know tryan and and huie have been so good for us and um these are two guys that came off injury last year and so to kind of have them come back and uh be inserted into their normal roles and Thrive it's been great uh to have Evan back and what he was doing what he did last night um certainly makes you feel good about the back end of the game and also to have now Alex alive today uh you know ready in in a big spot and those other three guys available so in any Lage I feel good uh to win a baseball game and yeah it was a big ad yesterday was GL night you said you wanted to get him like a handful of regular do you have like a number in mind that I don't think there is a there is uh you know it's not an exact science um I think that stuff will sort of happen you know call it in August where the schedule lines up but I think right now you know Tyler is still going to throw more than he's thrown in quite some time and I I think that goes for all of our pitchers so to give them an extra day here there for the first four months of the Season isn't a bad thing but the exercise of going on regular for you know a couple guys makes sense absolutely who else do you see in that group that could maybe go on for rest in October um you know we'll see we'll see I mean you know Bobby's physical and and and we'll but we'll see again I mean there's just so much that's going to happen from now till then and um I hate to get too far ahead of things what was the plan with Otani out there in terms of number of throws and uh how far out I hope he's uh Beyond 60 ft I keep hearing 60 ft but uh hopefully today was 90 ft because uh the arm stroke looks really good uh he's recovering really well um so I I don't know how many throws he had I know I think there was like a a start a set sit and then kind of go back and do it again but uh I I trust the rehab process but you know hopefully we keep moving it Forward what does it mean you to get to participate in another L gar day it it's great you know um L gar obviously you know with what he went through um clearly has brought a lot of awareness and so for Major League Baseball uh to dedicate this day to uh L gar L gar day ALS um is great and I think that's one of those things that we have a platform and opportunity uh to bring awareness for people that are affected with ALS and it's not just the the patient it's the friends and the family so this is a really uh hopeful and uh very very it's a good day get any good birthday presents um I got a cool jacket um I got a nice ni photo and I had a uh a nice little breakfast I didn't get a birthday win but that's all right wine uh yeah went I had a I opened I gave myself a birthday wine yeah a bordeau yeah what was it it was Chateau uh P ponet ponet yeah it was a 2000 so it had some age on it I think it's a second second growth how was that drinking a lot of gas in the tank still left so it's got another 20 years left okay but it was good you think you opened it a little early then I got five more no no Porche for what's that no Porsche form time no Porsche yeah so uh I don't know if it's in rot but uh actually you know what Shi gave me a great gift Shi uh and Momo got me a a bottle of whiskey uh Japanese whiskey I don't know the name of it great packaging uh with a velvet red velvet cap cap you know on the top and uh an amazing box of chocolates I think there was like a dozen chocolates and they were like square but really thin and uh I got a gift from shohi you think that's or do you think that's her her but he did say it he didn't try to take credit for it which is good thank you D all right guys thank
